Holy humidity! It is 8 am, 80* and over 80% humidity. We are under excessive heat warnings until tomorrow night, along with a huge portion of the USA. My town has cooling centers set up and the local beach/lake is free to all town residents since the big lake is closed due to an algae bloom.
We have the windows open at the moment but the AC is going on soon.
Cait and Brendan were supposed to be going down the shore for the day. Since they don't like going in the water, I am not sure if today is the best day to just hang out on the Boardwalk. The sun will be beating down.

It felt really good not having to go anywhere yesterday. I puttered around the house, cleaned the kitchen really well, and made another batch of pickles. This time I threw in a serrano pepper from the garden and used a mix of jalapeno sea salt with the kosher salt. The family will have to tell me how they taste when they are ready tonight. I should try and eat some of them- maybe fresh pickles are better than supermarket pickles. I have never been a fan but maybe I can give it a shot.

I scrapped a page yesterday afternoon and I really like it! It was of the rats fishing for peas. Jean and Felis- Thanks for the comments <3

So what to do today? I will want to go outside on the early side and not for too long. Other than that, I have no plans. I do want to check in on my parents, make sure that they are ok. They have Central Air and if they needed, my brother is only a few minutes away from them.

Have a wonderful weekend and stay cool! xoxo

Karen- you need to get one of those motorized chairs for your staircase for Joey LOL That has to be such a PITB to have him carried up and down the stairs. When Gary first got really sick, he would sleep all of the time. The kids were little and literally *everything* was on me. I understand the frustration of seeing your husband sleep in. ugh...
Good for you for doing the fitness circuit! And even better that your muscles are in good shape. You will get there!!
I am sorry that the market isn't doing well for sellers. Not always easy to be patient.

Jean- I hope that you were able to find somewhere cool to go and this weekend too. The MM projects seem to really be coming along. Congrats on getting the pieces displayed!
It wasn't the heat that bothered me, it was the falling barometric pressure. That seems to do me in. Today and yesterday were much better pain days. Whew!

Felis- heh!! I am always tired too- I am not a "morning person" I am not an "evening person" either. I am mostly a 10 am to 2 pm person :pound:
Were you able to get out of food shopping again? How funny that the cats tried to "sing" with you :D
I have a feeling that nothing will keep my mom away from our shore trip. I will drive her car down and have her use my dad's cane if she has too.

Oh, Chris... that combo of heat and humidity is horrid!!! We had to move from Corpus Christi due to high heat/humidity that caused my arthritis to get so bad I could barely walk. Thank goodness the drier climate here in New Mexico is much better for me. But have to admit that when it gets to over 100 - like it has the past several day - it is just too hot to be outside doing much. Glad that I can spend time scrapping or scanning photos into the computer. Finally gave in and reset the thermostat down to 77* the past couple of days in the late afternoon. Still closing the blinds and drapes to keep the sun and heat out. Seems crazy to have to close the insulated drapes in addition to blinds in the family room in the late afternoon. Sure makes a difference in temps there doing both. Yes, we have had heat advisories, too. They are cautioning not to be out in the heat if you have any health conditions. Good reason to stay home where it is comfortable.

I got a hankering for chicken/fruit salad yesterday. Made a big batch so am all set for the next few days. That is one of my favorite summer dinners. Need to make some iced tea to go along with it.

Karen, so sorry to hear that you have been having to lug Joey up and down the stairs. Know that is not good for your knee. Isn't it amazing how quickly the weight will creep up when you activity level drops. Good for you for starting exercising. You had me in stitches describing your movements in the dance class.... that would be me, too!

Thanks for the tip about renaming things, Felis. Will have to try it with my next batch of scanned photos. Right now, I just rename 1 photo, copy that name and paste it to the next photo... and so on. Of course, since I end up adding more photos to a folder later - I end up having to renumber them, too as the numbers are already used.

The mood seems to be slowly improving thank goodness.

The heat kind of got to me yesterday but mostly in terms of not doing anything but read after going out for lunch and groceries. But we were able to sleep well with just the fan and I even slept late. Today I worked on a challenge again and this time got a result we liked. Not surprisingly in cool colors! Right now it is hot (clock with temp by my computer says 87') but I'm fairly comfortable, so may not go out until dinner.

Chris, I think Felis nailed it about your mother and you and the need for vacation. GO! Did you show Cait the rat LO? Bet she would enjoy the look you got. Those girls are so not Goth. The pickles sound wonderful. You don't enjoy some curious foods, but at least try one. Glad you are feeling better, at least the "heat dome" is a product of high pressure.

Kay, staying in is the thing to do! Closing up the drapes and all must feel strange, but if it keeps things cooler, makes sense. Chicken and fruit salad sounds so good and perfect for the weather.

Felis, it'll be interesting to learn whether you get out of grocery shopping again. If not, hope you have some fun finds while there. It won't be singing on the roof in Paris, but you never know. About the class work, some folks leave things there but mostly we take them home and sometimes work on them at home too. Also I start things at home and then take them in to work on more. The teacher is quite flexible about it all.

Good morning dears!
Yes they forced me to go grocery. Aren't this shows that they are bad parents?! I just kidding, I love them so much and in every other day I'm grateful! Actually it wasn't so bad. It's even kind of nice to mark one responsibility as done. I just can't believe that as a child we dream to grow up, believe that this will give us freedom. It is fun somewhere between 18 to 25-27 and then I got bored to be adult.
Here was hot, but not as much as at you, but I still chose to take a break and just read. I struggle with this book, but the bunch of books which I started and left for later is now too high. Books are something I just can't left unfinished. And even when I dislike them, I feel as I should do it. Because you are unlikely to learn anything new from book which is similar to all you like. Till some book that isn't exactly yours cup of tea shows you how other people from the author's crew watch on the life.
Oh, and I finally made my lilies page which was inspired from yours. I redo and moved almost everything before to got the results that I like, just to find now that yes, the new better version is better just because don't match the rules! What is wrong with me?

Now, I have very exciting plan for Sunday, drums please :drum: : I have to clean the cat's house really well! L O L LOL.

Chris, first bravo for all the good job you did! (Hmm, bravo has meaning of english to I hope, I think it's Italian, but we used it too, so I'm confused now, I'm hear british to used it, so...) Oh I like pickles a lot! We have one local brand that make them good and we buy mostly them, but I bet homemade are better! What is wrong with the water on the shore so Cait don't wanna go in?
Love your idea to Karen, for motorized chairs for staircase, you're so clever!

Kay, I hope that the rename tip will work on your computer system too! I'm with Windows, not sure for the number, however. I'll be glad to help! My old camera name all sessions at the same way, so I know how pity is to have to rename them before put it in right folder. It's good that drier climate makes you feel better, but this hotness is just too much for my taste, I really admire your brave choice!

Jean, I love both your new page this cactus at New Mexico is so pretty, I want one! Oh nice that your teacher is flexible about the working time, as the different people are more creative in different part of the day (or at night). And also it's not nice to rush. I just could to copy and repost your post as my day was the same. :D

Happy Sunday! How are you all today? I have just finished my second cup of coffee but that will be my last for now. It warmed me up a bit too much. We turned the AC off for a bit and there is a cool breeze ATM. We are under another Excessive Heat Warning again. It wasn't horrible yesterday. I mean it was *hot* but I was able to be outside for almost an hour and probably could have been out longer than that if I had to. I was sweating but kept drinking water so I was being smart about it.

I will go out again this morning to make sure everything is watered. My front garden is blooming and looks nice if a "bit" overgrown. I hate ripping out plants unless I have somewhere to replant them. (after that, it is up to them if they can continue to grow ;) ) I *finally* saw a bee on the coneflowers. I tried to get a couple of pictures on my phone but I don't think that they came out all that good.

My parents are coming up with bagels this morning so the AC will have to be on before they get here. After that, I am just going to catch up on some housework and get ready for the week ahead. I also need to figure out what is slowing down my computer. I thought a big part of it was the mouse batteries but even after I replaced them it is still hanging up. I was getting locked up in PS too so I uninstalled a lot of fonts. I ran CCleaner and Malwarebytes. No improvements so far. If anyone has any suggestions of what to try next-- I would love that!

HAGD!! xoxo

Kay- it is *wonderful* to hear that you are feeling better. I was worried
Sounds like the scanning and scrapping have been good to keep you busy and creative.
ITA- it isn't so much the heat, it is the humidity. *nods*
Enjoy the chicken salad and iced tea!

Jean- I hope that it is cooler for you today. I called my parents yesterday morning to "check in on the old folks" and my dad was laughing that my brother beat me to it.
Thanks for the compliments on the girlie little rats. Cait told me yesterday that Titania's official coloring is called "champagne" not beige. She is a classy rat- champagne fur and ruby eyes. :D
I truly have some strange food preferences, don't I? hahah!!

Felis- sorry that the family made you go shopping- maybe you can get out of it next week. That is so true- you are a kid and cannot wait to be an adult. Then you have a few years of being an adult without crazy amounts of responsibility and then Bam-- 100% adult and allll the stress that goes with it.
I am the same with books. I have a hard time not finishing one even if I don't like it. I tell myself "life is too short to read bad books" but then I force myself to finish the bad books.
Have "fun" cleaning the cats' house.
I don't know why Cait doesn't like ocean water. The Jersey Shore water isn't clear blue like the Caribbean but I love it.

I have to go poke around the gallery and see what you ladies have been uploading!

hugs!

Woke up at 6:30 AM to temp at 75 already! ! ! No cool breezes blowing so the house is still closed up. <<< sigh >>> Really miss opening the house up on days like this. Suppose to cool off some later on this week and I look forward to highs in the mid-80's.

Chris, glad you were smart when you were out in the heat by drinking lots of water. You really are great at gardening by replanting them in different places when plants have to be removed.

Normally I would do the same but my neighbor has a large plant in his backyard that has come under the wall and is spouting up in places in my yard. It is very invasive so have been spraying it to kill it from in between the Patio slab sections (YIKES!) and along my side of the wall. There is a filler between the patio slabs so was surprised that the plant could come up there. It is so tight that I can't pull them out. It has long branches that almost reach the ground on my side of the 6' block fence so I need to cut them back. But that will have to wait until it is a bit cooler outside.

Have to run as I still need to get my shower, dressed and ready to go to church. CYL
