Happy Long Weekend to everyone in CA and US. I see that Canada Day was yesterday and we have the 4th on Monday.
I was so busy yesterday but got so much crossed off of my list. I left a few things on it for today because I really wanted to get outside for a little while. it was hot and humid but I was able to be out there for an hour and a half. I had some more marigolds to transplant and there were so many of the teeny toads hopping around. Gary saw Tif last night, I had been worried since it had been a while since I spotted them.

Plans got all mixed up and I had a houseful for dinner so Cait and I made b-fast and Scott and Sam went to the store to pick up some b-fast sausage. I love b-fast for dinner.
The big plans for today are that Caitlyn and I are going to unpack all of the boxes of party supplies and see where we left off and what else we need to buy. I am (already!!!!) behind on CT stuff so it might be an inside-only kinda day. It rained overnight and is still very cloudy. The fam is taking me out to dinner tonight for my b-day.

Have a fab day!!

@LSlycord You must be so happy to work from home the way the gas prices are. Commuting is much nicer when you have a beautiful view past your windows :D

@Cherylndesigns how is your poor stomach today? Hope it is much better. Did you end up taking a nap in the afternoon, 7.30 is so early for you to be awake.
Even the pics I have shared of my friend's house don't do it justice. SMH! hahaha

@BrightEyes yay!!! So happy that you are happy! And I am also happy that you have new grass growing, I love seeing that too.

@taxed4ever I hope that your Gary takes some time off this weekend and you don't end up working the whole weekend. My town had fireworks last night and it used to be around the corner from us. I am happy they moved it to the HS so we can't hear them. But I know there will be "home" fireworks all weekend. :(
What is Canada's Wonderland, an amusement park?
I am hoping that now that my parents are post-surgery they will be feeling better mentally and physically and will stop bickering on full blast. We'll see ;)

I had "change avi" on my to-do list and I couldn't find a decent one. I was so desperate to cross things off the list, I used my passport photo! HAHAHA!!!!

@bcgal00 Thank you so much for sharing the recipe, that sounds like the same one but my mom uses golden raisins, not cranberries. I would prefer cranberries over raisins so I should tell her that too
Hope you had a wonderful time at the party!

@tanteva ya made it!!
(ummmm.... is the clown gif supposed to be a reference to It? Should we wonder if there are any missing children, last seen at a Swedish library???)

Good morning all! It's going to be another hot and humid one today. LOL Shocking, I know. Brian and I went out to dinner last night so that was fun. We had some gift cards to use from one of our favorite restaurants nearby and so we used those. It was packed because it was raining and no one could eat outside in the courtyard. But we got there before 5 and only had to wait about
10 minutes.

I think that I'll do some scrapping. Maybe get some groceries for the weekend. Our mockingbird was gone for a few mornings but it reappeared this morning so that makes me happy. It's a short week so that makes me happy. We find out about classes and get Syd's new roommate this week...so that makes me happy. And, I don't do much driving because I work from home, so that makes me happy. All in all, I am happy!

@faerywings fun time for you and Cait to spend together getting ready for the party! And I laughed about the passport photo! Syd decided that she wanted to stay at the hotel with us rather than in the dorms for preview. She figures she will be in the chaos soon enough. ;-)

@bcgal00 we make that same broccoli salad but we use raisins instead of cranberries. However, none of us like raisins so I leave them out. However, we all like craisins so I think that I will try that next time. That might be a good salad to have around for this long weekend. Both kids will be working all weekend so who really knows who will be here when. Having a few salads and some corned beef and cheese for sandwiches may be the way to go.

@taxed4ever hope yesterday was productive. We don't do a lot that is different on the weekends...just catch up on projects. But it is nice to have the extra day to spread out the projects.

@tanteva you find the best little things to insert here! Glad you made it through the workday!

@Cherylndesigns sorry that the food didn't agree with you. Hope you are feeling better today and that you maybe got a nap in!

@BrightEyes you have really got a lot of layouts done for the start of a month.

And I'm off to fix this sad looking avi! Talk to all of you later. Have a great weekend.

Yesterday was horrible. There were 2 shows, both about 2 hrs long. 110 people at the first, 130 at the 2nd. It was a magician, a singer and 1 acrobat. Kids where extatic. Meanwhile we got calls all the time from people asking if there were any tickets (which there wasn't) & trying to help our library customers. My brain was a mess. I can zone out sounds pretty well, but not when I have to hear what people are saying to me. It was NOT an ADHD-friendly environment yesterday. It wasn't meant to be indoors, it was supposed to be in a park outside, but it was POURING yesterday. Might be the only time in my life when I hated the rain. LOL

Still tired today, but at least I get to chose what I listen to today ... Yup ... Beatles LOL Today, I will do as little as possible, really need to recharge.

I'm working 2pm-6pm on Monday, but then we have 3 long weeks together before we go back to work again.

Followed Chris & changed my avatar. Used the same photo as the birthday one, just removed the crown. That's how lazy I am today.

We had a bit of rain last night... saw wet spots on the patio this morning. May be getting more over the next several days. Won't complain as we still need it. Last night/this morning is a repeat of yesterday... temps not cooling off as much at night - so only have the house opened up for maybe an hour. Just hung the Stars and Stripes flag near the front door and saw 6 hot air balloons in the sky! I am sure there will be a lot more flying on Monday - July 4th. Even though the balloons fly quite frequently, it is always fun to see them - especially when they are close by in our neighborhood. I got another challenge LO uploaded this morning. I am caught up on what I had ready for July. Will be watching the store to see what is new this month. :D

Did a quick run to the Post Office, local library and used Book/DVD store yesterday afternoon. Checked out 2 books and picked up 4 free ones at the library and scored 5 new-to-me DVDs at the Book store. Stopped on the way and filled up with gas... the price had dropped from $4.99 a gallon down to $4.25. That should hold me until the end of July as I only have 1 longish errand (40 miles round trip) for our Red Hat lunch... most of the rest of them are within 5 miles of the house.

WOW @faerywings .... love your new Avatar!!! Yes, I tend to recycle my avatars, too. Haven't taken a pic with the new haircut - so went with previous one with the same haircut. I love breakfast for dinner, too. Usually have that a couple of times a week. But now that eggs and bacon are so expensive... I have been cutting back on doing that. Good luck on getting all the decorations and other things for Cait's graduation party ready. BTW, I will take a pic of the new grasses once there is more than 3 spikes showing.

@tanteva No wonder you were worn out from work... can't imagine having that many kids plus all the entertainers inside.... the noise must have been horrible. Sorry it was raining so it couldn't have been held outdoors. Just a little while until you and Urban can relax on the 3 week vacation. <<< hug >>>

@LSlycord so nice that the mockingbird came back. Oh, I remember the hot and humid weather when we live in Jax, Florida - and we didn't have an air conditioner!!! Thank goodness we had trees that gave us shade on the patio so we spent a lot of time outside. How wonderful that you had some gift cards to use to dine out.

@Cherylndesigns Hope your tummy has settled down now. Did you get to nap yesterday??

Don't have any special plans for the holiday/weekend. May fix a hamburger or hot dog just to have a 'holiday' treat. hahaha

Good morning ladies. Had fun a the birthday BBQ yesterday for a friend. We sat outside all day and chatted, about 20 of us. I took lots of candids of everyone and the animals. Their 4 dogs mingled with ours (Remi is still apprehensive about 2 of theirs that are huge, one is about 150 lbs so she kept her distance). Remi stuck her nose thru the fence at the hen pen and got pecked on the nose which really shocked her LOL. She didn't do it again. The funniest part of the day was in the evening when the horses/mule and alpaca were let lose in the main yard. Our dogs didn't know what to make of that and they were all running around barking and jumping. Taz decided maybe he'd like to play with the alpaca and was jumping up, trying to entice him to play LOL. It was fun to watch. Our friend made a fabulous ice cream cake for his wife (he is a chef) and homemade ice cream. It was amazing. We came home tired and happy. I had a good sleep. Hopefully tonight I'll sleep well again b/c tomorrow is our hike up a mountain and we'll be out for most of the day. Today is pool and hot tub day for us. Maybe some reading and scrapping later.

@faerywings Have fun at the dinner tonight.

@LSlycord How nice to use the GC for dinner. Reminds me that we have a couple too that should get used.

@BrightEyes How nice to see the hot air balloons, we don't see those often around here. The gas dropped here by 1 cent so not much improvement yet.

@tanteva What a noisy hectic day that must have been. Glad that today you get to unwind and slow down.

I'm going to grab another coffee and go look thru the photos I took yesterday. Enjoy the day everyone.

Hello lovelies.

Chris @faerywings Kay @BrightEyes and Linda @LSlycord thanks for all the well wishes - honestly, I still didn't feel very well until last night. That darned heartburn/sour stomach was still hanging on. It really did not agree with me at all!! I won't ever get that again - I normally just get a grilled cheese or a cheese fajita with NOTHING else on it. Good news - my tummy is fine today! I'm SO happy! Kay @BrightEyes I did take a little rest yesterday - I got up SO early that I needed to rest.

Chris @faerywings I had to look twice at your new beautiful avi!! You're SO cute and you DO look like a young kid - your hair is gorgeous!! I loved your baseball cap picture, though. I should update mine - Adrienne took some decent pictures of me at that restaurant the other night with one of my hats on (not a baseball cap). The sun was SO bright - we were outside - and I knew the sun would be really hard on my eyes even with sunglasses on.

Eva @tanteva I LOVE that classy guy in your meme - they use him a lot and he's SO handsome.

Chris @faerywings have a wonderful time eating out tonight!

Still hot and dry here - I'm hoping for rain so I can get out and pull weeds - the earth is like a rock unless I water it first. I water my plants almost every day and watered down the sides of the arch the other day and got 2 English Ivy plants planted on each side. The plants are pretty big and I wove them in and out of the arch - I'll tie them if I need to.

We had a visitor this morning. The cat was going nuts at the window and we looked out and a baby bird was sitting on the back of one of our chairs. We don't know if it got separated from it's momma or what, but it sat there for the longest time. Finally, we looked out and it was gone. We took some pictures, but the darned screen made them not so good.

Happy weekend and if you celebrate, be safe.

In case you didn't already think that my DD is off her rocker, take a look at the b-day cake she ordered for me:
PXL_20220702_224306539_resize.jpg
It's hard to tell from the photo but it is bright orange/pink/yellow/ And yes. It does say "welcome home from prison." I wish I could have been a fly on the wall when she ordered the cake. She said that woman who took the order was not amused. But the woman who she picked it up from was hysterical over it. It is a godawful ugly cake. ROTFLMAO
(but delicious- choc cake with cannoli filling)

Caitlyn and I never got around to unpacking her party stuff so I will have to do that on my own today. She and Tom are off to the Turtleback Zoo. It turned out to be a really lovely day so I spent some time outside. (Priorities)

Have a great day!

@LSlycord ha! Thank you for the "teenager" comment. Sure as heck don't look like one in IRL haha!! You look wonderful and happy in your avi-- so happy to hear that everything is making you happy too
Just you and Brian went to dinner, no kids? What did you talk about, the kids? ;) That is what we end up doing.
Will Syd get to meet her roommate at Preview? That has to be nerve-wracking.

@tanteva love that meme! After hearing about how noisy it was, it makes me wonder if there might be some truth to it ... hmmmm
I wouldn't blame you. I don't have ADHD but if there is too much going on and I am trying to keep my thought processes going in one (or even just a few ) directions and people interrupt that, omg that makes me so aggravated
I hope that your brain has been able to decompress

@BrightEyes I hope that the weather continues to cooperate and the hot air balloons are out in full force for you to enjoy
That is a nice drop in gas prices, that hasn't hit here yet, we are only down about 10 cents in the past month. We have oil heart and got the budget billing amount for the upcoming year-- went from $200/month to $400/month. I am trying to not freak out about that. if the prices drop enough, I will have to call them to see if they can recalculate it. Man, I hope/pray it does
I love that avi- you look so pretty!

@bcgal00 I love the description of the animals at the party!! how much fun that must have been. I am laughing at Remi getting her nose pecked at. It reminds me of when Clover (the rat) bit Jaida's (the pittie) nose when she got too close to the cage LOL
Hope you had a good day in your pool

@Cherylndesigns That is how jalapenos make me feel. I like poppers but more than a bite doesn't sit well. So relieved that you are all better!
The arch must be looking wonderful. I hope that you get some rain soon.

love and hugs!

Good morning ladies. Yesterday was a quiet, lazy day. And that made me happy. I got a haircut...and it is way too short and it looks like it was hacked. But it will grow back...I hope! But it will be easy to wash and to swim...it's so short, it can't take more than 15 minutes to dry. LOL

The mockingbird is out singing this morning. In addition we have had a pair of cardinals hanging out (they are my absolute favorites) and a hummingbird that thinks that my Tabasco peppers are something with lots of sweet nectar. I have seen that poor hummingbird come several times and fall for that. I have a firecracker bush nearby but the blossoms aren't very good right now.

@faerywings I LOVE that cake that Cait ordered. It made me laugh and it sounds delicious. I don't think that I commented on it earlier this week but I am definitely Team Sam! We shall see won't we? ;-) And no, Syd won't get to meet her roommate at Preview. But she hopefully will get the name of the roommate and the suitemates so that they can start coordinating purchases. And of course Brian and I talked about the kids...and the dogs...while we were eating out on our own!

@bcgal00 I saw your photos of the party on FB. Loved the llama. I'm sure that your friends were quite excited to have those photos. You are such an excellent photographer!

@BrightEyes I love hot air balloons. A small town about 20 minutes away from where I grew up has been having a Hot Air Balloon Festival since I was a kid and we all know that has been a long time. (I just looked it up...the first one was held in 1970.) Around balloon week time, we would see them early in the morning and later in the evening. I loved them. They make life look so free! And that's an incredible drop in the gas prices! Wow! We have had a drop but not that much.

@faerywings what the heck on that increase in budget billing heat! Oh my...

@Cherylndesigns I'm glad that you feel better. Feeling like that really does make it so it isn't worth it to eat that stuff. Hope you get some rain. We have had a few days of that so it has helped with not having to water so much.

Ok...I'm out of here and off to the gallery for a few minutes.

Can't believe it but I slept in until 7:30 this morning. It is a cloudy day with a fresh breeze blowing so the house is open and airing out. Hope it stays cool outside enough to get the house nice and cool. Got the flag hung outside for the holidays. Had to change which one I used as the colors had faded on the one I have been using. Guess it time to retire that one... of course, it is about 20 years old so it is time. Now that the yucca plant is gone from the near the front entry, the flag is very visible and can fly free.

@faerywings Love the cake... and especially the writing on it!!! Cait (and your family) have a great sense of humor!!! Bet it was delicious. I am also a member of the Club Sam... can't wait to hear how that goes in the future. One of the reason for the big drop in gas prices was the governor put a hold on the state gasoline tax plus the price had been dropping over the last month when I last filled up. Glad I don't drive a lot and try to fill up once it gets down to half a tank.

@Cherylndesigns looking forward to seeing photos of your arbor and the climbing ivy. Wow... that tummy thing lasted a long time. Was it the hot pepper seasoning that set it off?? I have to be careful of Chipotle seasoning as it can do a similar thing to me.

@LSlycord Sorry the stylist cut your hair too short. Bet you won't go back to that stylist again. But the upside is that it is easy to take care of and dries supper fast. Hard to think that the college visit is so soon when it seems that school just let out.

Nice to see we have all have changed our avatars. Everyone is looking so good!

Decided yesterday that I needed to change the 2TB HD back-up over to the new 5 TB HD I bought a couple of months ago. Well, discovered that it only backups from Cloud storage!!! And no... I don't have Cloud storage. Can't find my receipt but will take it back to Best Buy and see if they will exchange it for one that will back up my computer. Geeze... it didn't say on the box that it was Cloud backup!

Plan to update the DVD inventory on the computer and get a new printout for the notebook today. No, I haven't done any more with the book inventory or moving the books into the bookcase. The knee is still 'too iffy' to sit/kneel/stand to work on them yet. At least the books are out of the way stacked against the TV console in the bedroom.

That is because I have been waking up around 4 AM a lot of mornings and not able to go back to sleep. I have always been an early riser... usually around 5:30 - 6:00 AM.

Good morning ladies. I ended up not going on the day hike with the naturalist club. It doesn't rain much here but where the hike is (about 1.5 hrs away) it rains more and today they are going to get a fair amount. So my friend is going so another time her and I can go as she'll know the way. I'm happy to stay home and possibly go to the clinic today if I can get an appointment. The one walk-in they have here is appointment only (if you can reach them by phone) and if I get a chance to go, it'll probably be an all day thing. The neck lump is a bit bigger, the neck is more sore and there is another lump higher up on the back of my skull. I assume it is
arthritis related but who knows. So, if I don't get into the clinic soon I will go into Emergency and have them look at it.

If I am home today I will do some chores later, scrapbook and watch a fe shows. Later we are going to watch the last episode of Stranger Things. We didn't realize the last two episodes were long so we only saw one last night. We will also have Westworld to watch tonight too. Fun TV night.

@faerywings I can't believe the bakery woman who took the cake order didn't find it funny. That sure is an original design LOL.

@BrightEyes I'm like you, I don't sleep much and often am up throughout the night for hours, that is when I watch PVR'd episodes of General Hospital, a cooking show or game show.

I'm going to get another coffee and will start trying the clinic in a few minutes. I hear the lines are often busy so I'll try off and one for a few hours and see what happens. Wish me luck.

Happy Sunday, Lovelies.

I'm finally feeling better - Kay @BrightEyes Linda @LSlycord and Chris @faerywings I think that sandwich did have jalapenos in it! They go down easy, but bam! I finally started feeling "normal" (as normal as ever, LOL) yesterday. I need to take pictures of my little ivy plants - they're already starting to wind in and out of my arch. I want to put lights on my arch, but think I should probably wait until I eventually get flowers on it. I'm thinking about looking into solar lights for the arch. We're going to get solar lights for the front gardens - we think 5 on each side.

Chris, that cake is a hoot and I can imagine the look on that woman's face! "Out of prison" BWAHAHA Your family is even crazier than ours!! That chocolate with cannoli inside sounds scrumptious! cannolis are one of my favorite things in the whole world.

Linda @LSlycord that stinks when you get your hair cut too short! Go listen to your birdsongs and tell yourself "it will grow". I remember the last time I chopped my hair - many years ago. I hated it and said I'd never do that again and now my hair is half way down my back. I was SO upset! We had a mockingbird hanging around here for awhile - the little Bugger sang 24/7 I love their sweet songs, but they just never stop.

I did tell you girls that a bird got in our house while Asher was here, didn't I? It was pretty hairy until we got it out! Yesterday, a bird was sitting on our front porch for about an hour then last evening, when I was watering my ferns, it was inside my fern. About scared the poo out of me when it flew out. What's up with me and birds????

Have a good Saturday! Kay @BrightEyes glad you got to sleep in this morning!!
