Can someone PLEASE tell me to SHUT UP when I say my life is boring and every day is the same?
Please.
I beg you.

I am not looking forward to today but it is what it is. My poor butt is gonna hurt by tonight. I'm driving my dad's car to his house and its not comfy like my mom's car is.
I spoke to my dad early on and he sounded absolutely normal but then did a little online research about Meniere's Disease and called him back. Told him that sure, I think he could drive home safely but my anxiety was through the roof. Between worrying about my mom's appts and his attack, I couldn't deal with one more thing so Gary and I were coming to get him whether he liked it or not. And honestly, I was exaggerating a little but the second I told him the plan, I felt a *huge* weight off of my shoulders.
I couldn't talk to my mom about any of that since she was at her big Dr appt so I was moping about. Caitlyn asked me if I wanted to go with her, she was getting her ear pierced at Tom's shop. At first, I said no, I wasn't any company. Then I realized I missed her and getting out of the house would be good. We always have so much fun together and she and Tom talked me into getting my ear pierced too. I really wanted to get my nose pierced for a long time so I texted Gary to see if he would be really mad if I did and he would. I got my helix done instead- that's the top of the ear (all of the piercing names are like another language to me-- rook, helix, industrial, blah blah). The best part was just watching Caitlyn and Tom together. They are so dang CUTE!

I am almost done with my coffee so I better get in the shower. We are leaving NJ in another hour or so. Not sure when we'll be back - there is construction along the highway (the exits were not marked clearly and I blew past ours on Monday and had to take the next one and follow the lake road down) and lots more flooding.

*fingers crossed not where we will be*

sorry for no personals again.

xoxo

Good Saturday Morning!
Not much on my to do list for today except laundry.
I need to remember to take some meat out of the freezer for supper tonight.
Ilene has a couple more great grand babies due at the beginning of next year, January and February, that I would like to get some knitting going for, but we don't know what either of them are yet. So, I guess I'll wait. I've been itching to do some knitting lately. I want to knit a sweater out of some yarn I found at the thrift store a couple of weeks ago. It would've cost at least $80 if I had purchased it at the store, but I got it for $20! It is a cream/tan with dark flecks of color.
@LSlycord we had a new hummingbird at our feeder this morning.....a white-throated hummer. A couple, actually. A skinny one and a fatter one. I'll have to scrap it. I took the picture from inside the house and through the screen, so it is not as clear as I like, but it is still scrap worthy.
OK, must get the laundry started!
Have a great weekend!

Good morning, Peeps,

Chris @faerywings I'm sure you're on your way, too. Hope everything goes well for you with your parents. I'm glad you're are going to get him. I have that same spot pierced, too (in both ears) but I guess I didn't know the name. The helix, huh? If I knew it, I'd forgotten it. It was a long time ago. I have like 6 piercings in each ear and guess what? I slowly had to quit wearing any earrings. I have developed an allergy to metal and tried everything, and would fight the infections and over the years, just gave up. I couldn't even wear 14K in the end. I've always been so envious of people who could wear any kind of earrings - I never could. I have one sister who was like me - only 14K or higher and the other one could put dollar store earrings in her piercings and never had any effect. I think my mom cursed my oldest sister and me. When we came home with our ears pierced back in high school, she was SO mad and said she hoped our ears rotted off. My sister had a terrible time with hers and Mom said that if God had meant for us to have holes in our ears, He would have put them there. It was ugly.:mad:

Alyssa just got her nose pierced. It's cute on her but Roger says it looks like a booger. Hahaha The other night, the big dog knocked into it and it came dislodged and Ava had to go in the get it out. There was lots of drama over that "operation". Never a dull moment around here.

Vicky @vickyday sounds like you're itching to get those needles and yard out. The color you described sounds sweet and would probably work for either sex. But I know you want to wait to see whether to make it pink or blue. We never knew, so we got a lot of yellow baby blankets and clothes. I loved yellow and it was for either.

Adrienne and I are going to lunch, then into town. Our usual Saturday jaunt. Roger might try to talk us into going to Nancy's. I love going there, but I eat way too much and today is meatloaf day, with mashed potatoes and all the fixins'. Yes, I way overeat whenever we go there - especially on meatloaf day. He eats lunch there almost every day and loves it when we all join him. I really need a pedi and mani, but it looks like that won't be today. We're kind off our schedule.

Have a good Saturday and hugs to everybody who stops in after me. XOXO

Good morning ladies. Today is my pool/bbq/games night. I think about 10 people are coming. I'll head to the store for some ice and more food. Then I'll be putting out chairs, a table of snacks, towels and cooler of ice out back. Some will bring chairs and everyone will bring food for dinner and drinks. We'll be in the pool/yard for a few hours, then BBQ and then after everyone changes, we'll head down to the media room for games. It'll be a long day but fun. Tomorrow we have a few friends coming for coffee. Busy wkend.

Probably not much scrapping for a few days.

@faerywings Save travels. Glad your dad is not driving.

@LSlycord and @vickyday I love to hear of the birds in your areas. I miss the birds here. It was fun last year to see a few new ones but now I realize that there aren't many here overall and hardly anything in the summer. Birding will always be fun but there isn't enough here to photograph to do it very often.

I'd better go, I've got a busy day ahead. Hope you all have a great day.

Good afternoon. Dang, it's even good afternoon in Central time. It has been a very busy morning.

@faerywings I'm glad that you and Gary are driving your dad back. But I know that is making a long day for you. It's been a hectic week and I'm sure that you are tired. When you get home, take some time to relax!

We got up early so that we could be down at the beach by about 6:10. The kids were going to go with us but neither of them are early birds so it was just me and Brian. It was a beautiful morning...the waves were louder this morning. It is the funniest thing the way that every morning is so different. Sometimes the water is almost as smooth as glass, then other mornings the waves are really talking to us as they crash against the beach. Sometimes the sun comes right up over the horizon but most days it breaks through the sky a little higher in the sky. And fortunately, we have had no tropical storms yet so I don't know what those mornings look like.

After we watched the sunrise, we headed to breakfast. Then we went to a nursery that we hadn't been to before and I am in love. The plants and flowers that they had....well, I am so happy but I told Brian that I needed him to help me to not go too crazy today. The nursery is 5 minutes from our house so I can come back lots. I had 5 empty pots that need to be filled so I got enough for those. A couple of hibiscus (one with blooms up to 8"), a few plants for a big pot that I have that will hold a "thriller, spiller and filler" and a couple of native plants that should attract both hummingbirds and butterflies.

Then went to the Wildbird Store and got another shepherds hook and an add on to our bird feeder system and a hanging birdbath. Waiting for the rain to fill the birdbath. And we have great rainstorms everyday so I know that we can wait! We also have our wind chimes up now.

I didn't see the cardinals this morning...I'm sure that they were here while we were out shopping. I have seen a Carolina Chickadee at the feeder this morning several times. So the birds that I have seen in the yard in the last month include Cardinals, Carolina Chickadees, Tufted Titmice, Northern Mockingbirds and Hummingbirds (not sure which kind though) and Osprey. Hear Fish Crows all the time so probably seeing those but not recognizing the difference between them and the American Crow. Also have heard the Red Shoulder Hawk and plenty of Woodpeckers. And Bluebirds...may need to get some nests set up for them later this year.

The new sofa is finished, although I think that I may want to add one more piece to the sectional. The office is built. The ceiling fans are ordered. I have ordered rain curtains to try to stop the massive amounts of water coming off the roof and into the lanai. The gutters guys don't know if they can make the gutters work with the shape of the roof on the lanai. So I'm trying these rain curtains first.

Need to run to the grocery store to get a few things for supper and then I'll be back. Feeling the need to scrap.

I am (so far) one of those "other" people who can stick anything in my ears without worry! I don't even (never have) wear my earrings very often and I've never had a problem with the holes closing up.
Yes, I'm itching to make something pink! If there is a boy, I will definitely use the cream/tan with flecks, however!
We never knew, either, so we got lots of the neutral colors, too. That's OK. I always saved everything....just in case. I had 2 of each, so EVERYTHING got used again and again!

I am back... it wasn't as bad of a trip as I was expecting. We left a little after 8 and were back a little after 1 pm. We only stopped to pick my dad up (used the bathroom), and then dropped him off (used the bathroom LOL). My mom wanted to feed us but Gary's stomach was at the end of its rope. The drives were mostly uneventful until Gary and I were trying to get back to our house. The thunderstorms that we have been having are so bad and knocking down trees and power lines. We had a bunch of detours and the lights were out along the highway we needed to cross to get into town. But other than that, it was fine. My dad and I talked the entire trip, so I am putting it out there if my brother or mom say that they think he is losing it-- he is not. Absolutely not.
We talked about everything from when I was a kid/young adult (He felt bad that he was putting us out and I told him it was payback from the time I got stranded in Boston and they drove 5 hours in the middle of the night to come to get me as well as the time he had to pick me up from the police station in the middle of the night. I was such an :angelwhistle: ) We talked about when my kids were little, how they are now, and also stuff in the future. 100% coherent on everything. IMHO, I think he ends up tuning my mom and brother out because they tend to drone on. Not like me, nope! :giggle4:

By the time we got back home, I could not sit anymore so I went and did yardwork in 90% humidity. An hour and a half of that and I must have sweated out half of my body weight LOL
My mom gave me money to order pizza so pizza/wine was dinner, watched a few tv shows, and off to bed.
I slept like a rock until the &%#$^% phone rang at 6 am with my mom's phone number. talk about a heart attack!! :thud:
Gary grabbed the phone and gave it to me saying that everything was ok. My parents were under a tornado warning and they wanted to let us know that if we didn't hear from them they were fine. They packed up their meds and water bottles and went to their basement. As for trying to get back to sleep-- not a chance. *blinks*

As for today, I don't even want to guess what the day will bring. I feel like I have barely been home in a week.
I know that I have a ton of scrap/CT work to do as well as the usual housework and food shopping prep.

But for now, I am going to post this and see if I can catch up with all of you.

xoxo!

@vickyday How exciting to have more little ones to knit for, please tell Ilene congrats! That new yarn sounds very pretty!
Very cool to see a new hummingbird, will have to look at your gallery :)

@Cherylndesigns hehe, who knew that were names for ear piercings, right? LOL! We just called them cartilage piercing no matter where they were (other than the lobe). Tom is really good, he knows that Caitlyn and I (to a lesser extent) have metal allergies so he gets the highest-grade titanium jewelry. It's the only kind I can wear too. I can wear gold/silver for a very short period of time but more than an hour or so, and I get very itchy.
HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!! That's hysterical about what your mom said about your ears rotting off. My mom said it is "mutilation."
Something similar happened to one of my kids' nose piercings as Alyssa. I think it was Scott ... but not sure. Thankfully they "know a guy." :rotfl: Ava is so much like Sam, they can do just about everything and anything.
I was telling Gary how cautious Tom was with me and Caitlyn. He was laughing that he knows he would be looking at those piercings for the rest of his life so they had to be perfect ;)

@bcgal00 How was the party? It must have been so much fun. Have a fantastic time today too.
Is Jen's knee feeling any better yet?

@LSlycord I love hearing your descriptions of the ocean sunrises. How spectacular.
Soooo-- ocean/breakfast/nursery/Wildbird store. If that doesn't sound like a perfect day to me, I don't know what would be.
Everything in the house is also coming along. Life is good :)

I am still having a hard time seeing the birds. I can hear them but am not really able to find them in the trees. I did find a grey catbird at my mom's which was cool. I think my biggest problem is that I am not patient enough to be still and wait. I'll keep listening with merlin and see what I can see.

Good morning all,

Yes, I'm up early for me. I woke up with leg and foot cramps - couldn't lay there any longer, got up and took some potassium and was going to lay back down, but started watching a long video instead. I'm going to be gone most of today, so I needed to get up earlier than usual anyway. Adrienne and I are going to Tulsa to watch Ava's Jujitsu matches - they're pretty much all day. We're neither one crazy about sitting on those bleachers all day, but want to see her "grapple". Her main event is at 12:30 so we'll at least be there for that one. We're leaving about 11:00. Then she wants to go to Whole Foods, so we might duck out of the matches. They're so long and boring and we just have to sit there for long periods of time and watch people we don't know in their matches.
Chris @faerywings sounds like you and your dad had some quality time together and that you're convinced he's okay. I'm sure he is and your mom probably makes him a little crazy. Your foray into the humidity reminded me of Braden the other day. He had been outside working all day and he literally wrang water out of his shirt while he still had it on. It was pretty funny. That's interesting about the Titanium - maybe I should try that. Of course, most of my holes have grown back over. I can still force an earring through but have to break the membrane. I'd love to be able to wear them again - especially in the top of my ear. I need a Tom to re-pierce my holes - it wouldn't take much. It wouldn't be like an original piercing. Do they do that? I knew you'd get a chuckle out of what my mom said and yours said something similar. I yi yi I had both my girl's ears pierced when they pretty little. Neither one of them has the allergy problem that I have, thank goodness. Maybe getting it done really young is the key.

Happy Sunday and I probably won't be around much until later on. XOXO

Good morning ladies. Had a wonderful day yesterday. It turned out to be a small group, just 7 of us. We hung out in the pool for a few hours, chatting away. Then we had a potluck BBQ. Around 7, everyone left except for 3 so Darrell joined us for Mexican Train dominos. I have played it before, a slightly different version, with friends 4-5 years ago, so it was easy for D and I to pick up the rules quickly. We had fun. after that I learned a new card game, 7-Up. We played that until 11. So by the time I cleaned up and went to bed it was midnight. Today will be quieter, friends coming this afternoon, so will hop in the pool for a swim this morning (they don't want to swim). Then a BBQ dinner and a quiet night of binging a show.

I am going to take D the Heritage House this Thurs at 12:30 for a few hours of cards/games. A few of the ladies from the group go there and recommended it. It'll be nice for D to hang out with people, he stays home most of the time while I'm out socializing so it would be nice for him to have some other adult conversations. I'll take him and Jen to a local winery next Sunday for a few hours of music, wine and lawn games. A bunch of the women go to that too. Good thing I am the social one and find things for us to do.

I am going to go get my bathing suit on and will probably hop in the pool in about an hour. I find I am very warm most of the time, not menopause hot flash kind of warm, but an overall feeling of slight warmth radiating from inside and I get slightly sweaty (which is why I went with a shorter haircut). I am sitting here with damp and sticky skin while D is beside me feeling cooled and comfortable. I have been this way since the winter. Thank goodness for sun dresses, I find they keep me the coolest.

@faerywings Glad you and your dad had a good talk. Thanks for asking about Jen. She is on the mend, wearing the knee brace and walking around a bit more.

@Cherylndesigns I get the cramps too and usually down a glass of water with salt when that happens.

@vickyday Yum, Chinese. I've been craving that lately.

I'm going to get more coffee, get my suit on and be ready to hop in the pool soon. HAGD everyone.

Good morning. I've weeded the garden (because it gets so darned hot that I have to do it early in the morning. I have figured out which plants will go into which pots but I haven't planted them yet. Made sure that they got plenty of water. The chickadees were back this morning, along with the male cardinal. The sofa is placed in a U with the ottomans in the middle and I can see the bird feeder and some of my backyard pots while sitting here.

I've got some potatoes on for potato salad later today. We are going to make chicken sandwiches and potato salad...Syd and I have been cooking together. I'm sure going to miss this girl when she leaves again. But won't be as hard as last year at this time or Germany. I'm getting better with it all of the time.

We also have put up some curtains that can be pulled across the lanai screen when the rain starts and we will see if that helps to stop the rain from coming into the lanai. There was supposed to be a small gathering of one of my ladies' groups to do a beach bonfire tonight but it turned into such an incredible uproar because of the sea turtles that are nesting. It got pretty ugly...there may be multiple ladies' groups going forward.

I'm reading a new Greg Iles' book...well it was written in 2000 but it is new to me. And I found that Alexa will read to me while I peel potatoes. This world is amazing! I think it has passed me by.

@faerywings I am so glad that you and your dad were able to have a good conversation. I've been looking at places in Pennsylvania the last couple of days...that seems like it might be a good location. I really would love to have a small rustic place to spend some time out of the Florida summer. But everything is so expensive nowadays. So I just keep looking at places. And dreaming about when it cools down here...because I think I will love our house when it does.

@vickyday the birdbath is hanging and has water but I haven't seen any birds in it yet. I will keep you posted...and yes, it is a Wildbirds Unlimited store that I go to. Enjoy your Chinese food after church and the yarn sounds beautiful so I can't wait for you to have knitting pictures to show us soon.

@Cherylndesigns I have attended a lot of sporting events just like that. Sit around and wait...swimming is the worst. It goes really fast and then it is hurry up and wait. Hope you got some good shopping in anyhow!

Back to sleeping in until 9AM!!! The heatwave is still with us so I have been sleeping with both the ceiling fan and a smaller floor stand fan near the bed running all night. The A/C is set at 80F and has been coming on as late as midnight since the heatwave started. So glad I have the A/C so I can stay inside in comfort.

Yesterday was a great day as I talked to DD#2 (near Branson, MO). She called to let me know that the storm didn't do any damage to their house although they were without power for about 12 hours and many trees went down in their area. Also talked to DS#1 and DS#2.... This morning DD#3 called. I really feel loved and glad to get caught up what is going on with them.

So good to be enjoying my coffee again this morning... :coffeedrinker: Going to get my shower done then take a look at some of this month's challenges. Still not "back up to speed" on scrapping and/or scanning photos in so I can use them for LOs. DD#2 asked me if I had photos of grandparents and/or great-grands - especially of when they were teens and/or adults that I could send to him. So I will be working on that - and the family tree so he can see the relationships. And after looking at Aunt Mary's photos on Friday... I have lots of ideas for LOs. Some of the family really lived some hair-raising adventures!!

No personals today...

You sound so much better @BrightEyes. I'm so glad to hear that you are back to drinking your morning coffee. And pretty great to have all of those kids calling you. That was quite a storm they had in the Branson area. I have family and friends down that way. Everyone was ok but it sounds like it was scary!

Hey all,

Thought I'd check back in. We just got home and I'm pooped. Ava didn't do very well today - but she can't win them all. They had paired her with girls way heavier than her - why do they have weight classes, anway??? I close up video taped the whole match and I swear I saw that girl hitting Ava and pulling her hair.. Ava said she was not, so I have to trust the referand there was hardly anyee. The last time she had a tournament, the other girl WAS pulling Ava's hair. Ava almost got her flipped over in the end, but the other girl was just too much for her. We went to Joann's ETC after we left the tournament - I haven't been there since we lived in FL. Their stock was very low and there was hardly anybody in there. I was going to buy some "ephemora" by Tim Holtz for my little books, but they had nothing. Not much in scrapbooking supplies at all. I did find a bargain - a 75% off porch sign - it says "SUMMER" on it. Chuck said what I figured he'd say "summer is almost over." LOL "Why do you think if was so cheap", I said. Oh, we stopped and had a bite to eat on the way to Tulsa. Then, Roger called and asked us to go to Lowe's and pick up some supplies for him. Oh, we went to Target too - I forgot. Same thing - hardly anybody there, low inventory and way high prices compared to Walmart I bought some exciting things there - some "no show socks, a big pack of individual Kleenex and some TicTacs for Ava. LOL Adrienne bought a bunch of stuff for Braden's dorm room. I thought of you, Linda @LSlycord I remember when you and Syd were doing that last year. I hope your curtain helps with the rain. Is it hurricane proof? We had one on the two sides of the lanai that were exposed and it was hurricane proof. Man, did it get dark out there when we closed them.

I'm going to jump off and go see what I miissed all day. Just wanted to say "hey".
