Daily Ooo's: January 28-29: Weekend Edition!

The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Wow, it is the last weekend of January. January went by pretty fast, but not as fast 9for me) as some other months. Some months, I swear, all i do is blink and poof! Its gone. This month has been a decent blend of busy and not-as-busy which makes it a bit better to deal with. I guess, compared to my insanely busy December anything is a bit of a step back as well.

I have another house full of teenagers again. 4 boys and 2 girls. In one room last night, Cait and her BFF were watching The Lion King, and in the other room, there were 6 guys playing music/guitars etc. me-- i went to bed at 9 and put my headphones on. :music: Gary was up to keep an ear out for them.

We have a Houseparty this afternoon and possibly no plans for tomorrow. My IL's bought us a sofa for Christmas and it came on Thursday! Most of our furniture is hand me downs, and the "sofa" we had we this old, rickety and *very* uncomfortable futon that was falling apart when we got it years ago. They hated sitting on it so much they offered to get a new one. heh!! This one is super-comfy! Gary wants to invite them up for dinner tomorrow to say thanks. I was thinking it would be nice to have a day "off" but we'll see how it goes.

How about you? Any fun, relaxing, exciting plans for the days?

GOOD MORNING LOVELY O'S!!!!
So this week has finally come to an end...and it's the weekend...WOOHOOO!! What a busyish week...nothing that was HUGE...just the little busy things...
Yesterday I only had Savannah here....well and Mike too :bounce: (Jaiden went to my Mom's with Traci early)....so Mike, Savannah and I got out of the house to run errands.....we went to get our new glasses....which I thought we needed to do before the end of the month, as with the retiree insurance, we are losing vision coverage...BUT..there was a letter in the mail when we got home about our insurance...we actually don't go onto the retiree insurance until May 1st...as all insurance is paid 2 months in advance...so they will start collecting from us next month but we are still on the FULL TIME EMPLOYEE coverage until May........ANYWAY.....always off subject..hehe......We then went to lunch...and then to Home Depot....we got paint for two rooms.....CAN YOU SEE INTO THE FUTURE...well just a little bit?? NEXT WEEK...we are going to start making rooms for Jesse and Jaiden....Jesse's room doesn't need to be painted, but Jaiden's does...and the living room is horrible....so..........I HAVE ROLLED OUT THE BIG TO-DO LIST for the hubs!!!! YAY ME!!!!! :whip:
He is going to the hunt club today.....hopefully to pick up a couple of new members to join...because this lease costs way too much for RETIRED PEOPLE!!! They have 600 acres and 4 members....COME ON!!!! There could be at least 10!!!
Last night we dropped Jesse off at my Mom's and we went out, just messing around....ended up in Target....all the winter clothes were on sale...BIG SALE....I picked up some shirts and a couple pair of pants.....SOME OF THE SHIRTS I ONLY PAID $3 for!!!! WOOOOHOOOOOO!!!!.....

Okay...rambling rambling.....

TODAY..................CLEANING CLEANING CLEANING!! I have the house ALL TO MYSELF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hope you ladies have an awesome day!!!! :bounce:

Hi phyllis! This weather is truly nutty!! We were up to 50*s too yesterday. And dang, it was foggy over the lake. The house I cleaned yesterday is on one of the small lakes in town and she has these sliders that overlook it. As i clean them, i get a different view each time but each one is powerful and beautiful even in the bad weather. Can you tell i am a "water" person?
Hope that you got out and about while the weather was decent.
Don't say you are fat! Although IKWYM-- i think I am at the heaviest I have ever been and it usually bothers me very deeply, and at this point, I simply do not have the energy to deal with it.
In the spring, we should get a thread going to encourage us to walk. We did that last year since Laurie is amazing at using her treadmill every day. (notice I said in the spring? God I am bad!! LOL)

Nana!!! I got your email- will respond as soon as I am done here. You are too funny, deprive the woman of a bit of caffeine and look what happens. :boom:
:pound:

Hope that your achiness lightens up a bit. Is it cold and damp by you? This weather, kills my joints. Trudy suggested a paraffin treatment- and I totally agree. My mom bought me a home bath a few years ago by Homedics. Its wonderful for the hands and feet. I wish i could swim in it!

Kristy- congrats on the tax return, its hard to see it come and go so quickly but its better than only "go."
Great news on the windows too!

Trudy- I hear ya on the weekend!! woo hoo!!! Its funny since my perspective is still a blend of SAHM (wife) haha!! and part working mom. So i looks fwd to the weekends but in some ways they don't feel that different.
hey! 3 lbs is a great start!!!
here is the link for the site https://houseparty.com/
Now you have no excuse to check it out LOL

maureen-- I have so much admiration and amazement for you. I have since i met you here just a few months ago, but they say crises really show a person's mettle. And wow, you amaze me with your wisdom and perspective. i wish it was easier for you. I am so happy to hear that you have a friend that she can talk to and to admit that she is scared. maybe as she starts to physically feel better, she'll be better able to process the emotional and mental components.
Do you have a home nurse coming in to see her at all? If not, is that soemthing that might be available to her? I am guessing that if she is unempolyed etc, she doesn't have good if any health insurance. And I sure you know the drill on the social services that might be available... I am just wracking my brain to think of something, anything that can help.
Ask nana-- I do this to her, its a core part of me to be a "Fixer" and I get seriously crazed when I can't help. Just grab the duct tape again and I'll shut up. :tape:
I am really glad you have a mtg today, I can only imagine how much it helps.

Going for some more coffee.... anyone want a refill??

::grouphug

Chris, you amazing ball of energy!! i can't believe all the stuff you do! (and i can't believe all those kids in the house.)

Linda, you're lucky your hubby can paint. mine is color blind and he can't tell the difference between light colors, so if i'm wanting Antique White painted over the light green paint, he can't tell when he misses spots. it all looks alike to him. (HA! or so he says. GUESS who does ALL the painting around here??)

no idea what i'm doing today, except trying to tackle some of the Piles o' Stuff that always accumulate during the week.

have a Happy Weekend!

Good morning ladies! No basketball games this morning. Didn't bring any work home this weekend. Just having some coffee and thinking about how much I will enjoy waking up in three weeks to an ocean view! (I too am a water person. My dream is to someday live on water...but I'm getting old and don't have a plan so will probably still be typing in the dream in the Daily O's in 2032!)

We are having decent weather here too. Chris, I can't believe all of the teenagers at your house! Wow!

Linda, sounds like it is busy around your place today...good for you and the hubby do list for Mike.

Good morning Phylis...hope the weekend is a good one.

Happy Saturday everyone!! Foggy and damp around here today, the lake is hardly visable, but hopefully that will burn off soon! We must be a bunch of water people here at the "O"! I grew up living right on a beautiful lake and when I moved to the prairie I thought I would go :loco: not being able to just walk down and go for a swim in the water!! But 28 years later I am back to where I belong and my soul is at peace again!! Not much on the agenda today, perhaps a little grocery shopping and some cleaning, but with my sweet kitty not being here anymore there is not much to vacuum up. Oh well life goes on and I am hoping to facetime with my little grandbabies today!!

Chris - It's so nice that you have a big comfy couch to crash on now!! But I hear ya on at least having one day off not to entertain! My Gary's birthday is on the 2nd and I thought that we would have his parents come for dinner as it is my day off on Tues. but now his sister and brother in law are hoping to come up to visit them on Tues, so they want to know if they can also come for supper.....oh well the more the merrier right?? But cheezz its my only day off!! :pout: I know quit complaining !! Suck it up buttercup and all that!! LOL.

Nana Linda - Whooo on having the house to yourself!! I hope you enjoy every minute!! good for you for getting out the :whip: and having a long to do list for your MG!! Gotta keep those retired guys busier than when they were working right? WTG on finding the bargains at Target (we do not have that store here in :canada: ) I have to start thinking about getting a bunch of things done with dental as when my hubby retires we will lose some of that, but nice that you still have til may before yours is done! Have a wonderful day my friend

Phylis - that is too funny about your hubby not being able to paint for you, do you think that is a well planned out scheme??:pound: Sometimes you really wonder don't you?? Like when they pretend not to know how to turn on the washing machine or how to clean the toilet properly!! Oh brother!!

LindaS - No basketball, No work??? What will you do with yourself LOL!! Enjoy every minute of your weekend sweetie!!

Maureen - Thinking of you as always!!

Too everyone who pops in here today, have a great weekend!!

Chris checked out your houseparty link, looks great but don't think they do it in Canada :pout:

so just stoppin in HI!!

so i started a thing on myfitnesspal.com...pretty nifty site keeps track of your food and calories and what not....makes it easier to track for sure! trying to loose 10-15lbs....heck i'd even be happy with just 6 more LOL already lost 5 since no more pop...ummm let see what else

we have a pipe leaking we are trying to fix today...dh has to go get stuff to hopefully get that done....umm that means we have to repair drywall..JOY...its in the ceiling up in the "attic" area...which is more of a crawl space...sigh....

good evening, darling friends!!!

just watching a movie and contemplating creating a book of LOs tonight! I get so distracted with the internet!!! eeep!! :)

Tomorrow, we are going to church and then we are doing NOTHING! that means, "spend the day on the couch with our laptop strapped to our lap!" LOVE!!!! I need that after this busy week. My sister was visiting and we played all week!! So fun!!! :)

Enjoy your weekend, dear friends!!

Hello my dear busy "O" friends.

I can barely keep up to you just reading what you accomplish in one day!

I haven't been around much - been in the gallery this past week handing out form letters to abusers of our "O" gallery.

A few seem to have taken the hint - after comments in half dozen layouts. I'm not going to be very popular for many CT's. Honestly? I don't care as long I have my "O" family.

Nana - a spot of advice re. DH retiring -
My darling was lost at first, kept following me around - I'm a person who likes my own space (at least some of the time)

I finally took ironing into the spare bedroom just to be alone - I HATE ironing - but I was desperate - 10 minutes later in he comes - "Oh, there you are. I'll go and get the paper and sit here to keep you company."
It's a good thing I love the man dearly or he would have had an iron on the head
Needless to say. I unplugged the iron and went in the lounge with him.

So keep him busy - which from the sound of your lively world won't be difficult!

What does one do with a man who's worked all his life and has absolutely NO hobbies or interests except his work.
I can't have him fixing things - ahem well that's another story.

He managed to break the toilet when he tried wallpapering the bathroom.?!?

And he decided to paint the ceiling in the living room a couple of hours before 30 guests arrived for his birthday celebrations.
He didn't want anyone to see the bits of dust on the ceiling - I managed to convince him that no one would be laying on the floor to look and if they were it would be because they were overcome by the smell of paint!

Ahh, all for love eh?

Have a blessed weekend everyone - much love and
lotsa hugs

j

Jacqueline, you cracked me up with your hubby stories! you are so NICE about having him tail you around. i've been warning my husband for years that he'd better not get under my feet when he retires or i'd murder him. i'm the type who, given the situation with the ironing and him showing up would have yelled: get OUT of here and go find something to do!! :yell:

GoooOd Sunday morning!! Have you all seen the new home page here? Anna and Vicki have outdone themselves. Hmmm, I was going to link to the home page, but I am not sure its me/my browser but the links are wonky ATM. Oh well, I am sure that it will all be set soon. I keep my very non-code friendly nose out of the behind the scenes work. :ranger: we had a nice time at the party yesterday. My friend is super fun to talk to. She is very well traveled, lived in Sweden for several years, multilingual and has a really wide variety of interests. I love talking to her, b/c it is always so interesting to pick her brain. Our kids get along great, in fact they came back here to watch movies and sleep over, so i have more teens in my house again. ;) The IL's are coming up for lunch and to sit on the squishy sofa. Then-- nothing, I am going to do NOTHING!! (yeah,, I know, I say that all of the time.....)

Linda S-- Ohhhhhh how nice!!!! 3 weeks is going to go so fast. Enjoy the quiet weekend!
And you better still be posting inthe Ooo's in 2032! I know I will be.

trudy-- Seriously, i need to see and hear water; ocean, lake, stream, bathtub-- it doesn't matter. You are so lucky to live back on a lake.
did you get to talk to the g-babies? Hope so.
When one of my first kitties passed away, I actually didn't want to vacuum, I was so sad that if I vacuumed the last bits of his fur, I'd have nothing physical left of him. :(
The more the merrier, yup yup, that is one way to look at it! LOL

kristy is myfitnesspal.com like Spark people? I used to go on Spark to track calories and exercise, but now I am way to lazy to do any of it. Good luck withthe continued weight loss!

Phyllis- that is too funny about your DH. Scott is color blind as well, and sometimes is too funny to not bust on him about it. with the sofa he was convinced it was purple and we kept telling him, no-- its dark brown, Tobacco to be specific hahaha!

Sally- enjoy your quiet day today. Is your fam going to watch the pro Bowl tonight?

Jacquline- ROFLMBO!!!! Those stories are tooo funny!! i swear, i used have threatened MMG with that iiron. My peeve is the kitchen- it's small and doesnt have a good flow, so i end up yelling "if you are not cooking, get OUT of the kitchen!"

men... gotta love 'em....... :D

Have a fab day!! xoxo

yeah i guess it would be like Spark keeps me motivated NOT to overeat thats for sure and I have already cut out my late night snacking LOL im sure that was a big contributor to all the weight i gained over the last couple of years....but i stepped on the scale this morning and so far since Jan 14th I have lost 8lbs!!! woohoo!!!!

I was the same way about my kitchen in our old house it was SO SMALL...I hated it when everyone would come in the kitchen when i was cooking or cleaning!

after my dog died i found a chunk of fur of his...i kept it...i put it in a plastic baggy...i can't bring myself to get rid of it :( i miss that dog SO MUCH!!!!!

hahaa!!Chris, re: "get out of the kitchen:" i also have a tiny kitchen and i'm always yelling "Get out of the Fast Lane!!" when i'm cleaning up after dinner, my hubby decides to stand next to me at the sink while drinking a glass of water--right between me and the dishwasher.

Ah ladies...always good for a laugh. And moi needs them.

My son came over today to give me a break and having a serious talk with his sister. She was fine since he held her on his lap and fed her. She may be 38 but she's been a child psychologically for most of her life, despite being very very smart. I wish he could have taken her somewhere for the day, as all I really want is to have the house to myself, and sit and watch a movie etc. But we talked too and I cried and told him how frustrated and angry I am. He's my firstborn and has always read my moods very well.

It's galling to see her do all the things I ask her to do..but do them for him. I don't have the energy or will to sit literally with her for the 6 plus hours he has, sometimes with her on his lap. Helps to be a 6'2 man with a 5'4 sister now down from 124 to <97lb.

I have only two more days til she goes back to the hospital for a checkup. I know I can get through that - I bravely say today.

I did get a good walk in the brisk morning air when he arrived and also got a follow up call to Apple today...it was supposed to happen the day I got the call two saturdays ago. God willing and a reinstall of Lion, and I'll be good to go again. Watching that reinstall time bar makes me happy.

Oh Maureen, so very, very difficult I'm sure. I'm glad that your son was there to help. And I know for sure that you can make it through two more days!
