Oscraps

Daily Ooo's: January 14-15: Weekend Edition!

The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Its a three day weekend for us and I have NO plans!!!!!!!!!!!!!! How cool is that???? I was thinking back and it has to be before thanksgiving that i had a weekend with no plans. So awesome :)

Right now, I have :tea: and my pj's on, and Oscraps. I am a happy girl. I am goign to do my house stuff in a bit then I am going to scan more 1940's negatives of my mom's and then scrap my little ol' heart out.

What plans do you all have this weekend?

Eva- pottery sounds like so much fun! Do you get to use the wheel and spin the stuff? I would never ever be able to do that. I am like Phyllis, my only recognizable form of creating art is digiscrapping. But have fun and be sure to post pics of whatever you make.

Phyllis- i am starting to think you are my other soul sister here (Clara is my first  ) I always hung out more with guys growing up, hated the "girl-drama." Even now, I find it hard-- the three new clients I have are all friends and they all gossip about each other to me. gah!! Nothing bad at all, but YKWIM. LOL
How did the window stuff go?

Nana-- hope that this Friday the 13th was as good as the other ones in your family history :)
So, you didn't want to be buried under little bodies at 6 am? Sounds very cute though. Hope that you survived the day.

Trudy- oooh i want an herb garden in my window too!!! I was going to try to bring in my basil and rosemary plants inside for the winter but the October snow killed them all before I could. And I only have one window that gets decent sun and its already taken by Josie's African violets. But maybe someday I can have an indoor herb garden.

Did i ever tell the ooo's about Josie's African Violets? My neighbors that live next door-- we are very close with them. Her mom moved into the house on the other side of them 5-6 years ago. She was the sweetest lady, little Polish grandma. She'd see the kids walking home from school and have home made cookies for them. They all called her Babchi (spelling?). When she died, we were all so sad, and Jo asked me if I wanted any of her Af violets. Josie had an amazing green thumb and her violets were amazing!

I took a long pot of three enormous plants and put them in my dining room window. Can i tell you that these plants flower literally year round? Full beautiful blooms. I have never had a plant so happy. Cait had an Af violet plant that was dying. I put it next to Josie's-- Its gorgeous now. Then my friend across the street who got one of Josie's plants too asked me to"foster" hers, since it was almost dead. After one week, I have all new leaves coming up, and its close to doubled in size.

Every time jo comes to my house, she loves looking at her mom's plants. And when Catzilla tried to eat them, I told her that she'd better not kill Josie's Plants or she'd be gone. (not really, I just wanted to scare her a bit :p )

Oh it is so nice to know I have OCD company!!
Trista- my brother and used to do that to my mom. Her fridge was lined up small to tall, all labels facing front. We'd turn one bottle backwards on her just to make her crazy

Maureen-- you are the perfect audience for Oscraps, and we are so lucky to have you here.

Jean- I saw your LO onthe blog post- I love that one! Congrats on being featured. And it feels like winter here in NJ too, it got so cold and windy and we actually had some snow. Its all gone now (yay!) but it is supposed to stay cold for a few days. (bummer, I don't like the cold)

Laurie-- can't wait to see your art!!

Linda S- no need to blush, Its 100% truth. xoxo

Have a fab day my lOvlies!

Good Morning Ladies! I have been such a bearer of gloom and doom lately and for that I apologize! I never reported on my car, it is working now and I'm not stressing about it anymore.

I had a follow-up visit with the doctor yesterday, she said 90% better on my lungs, but I still needed to be sure to get plenty of rest. I told her I wanted to visit my mom this weekend and asked if it would put her at risk to get sicker.....good news I am not contageous and can go.

So we are leaving in a couple of hours to go down south and visit with mom.....

Good morning ladies. My weekend is only two days...Brian and the kids have three. :-( Let's see...the plans. Well, Sydney and Shaun each have basketball games this morning at different places so it's a divide and conquer morning. Tomorrow, Syd has basketball practice and a soccer game. She hasn't played soccer in a year so that may be interesting. However, this is just a fun indoor league and should get her in a better place for spring soccer. (She is playing for her spring soccer coach so that will be cool.)

And I'm going to get a new computer today. If I want one with enough memory to scrap, I need to borrow Brian's and it really cramps my style. :-) Mine crashed (dead as a doornail) last fall after about a year. I got a cheap replacement that allows me to do work from home and internet...but no scrapping. So we need another one. Strangely enough, I think I'm going with a desktop if I can find one with an internet card (maybe that's not so rare anymore...haven't bought a new desktop for 6+ years). With two iPads, two laptops and one really old desktop, I think that a new desktop might be the way to go. Then again...we'll see.

Fran, so very glad to hear that you are well enough for a visit with you mom this weekend. Hang in there.

Chris, I love the African violets story. My grandmother (mom's mom) had such a special touch with African violets. Unfortunately, that skill didn't persist through the following generations. :-( When Mom passed away, an online friend of mine told me that she was praying for something to give me comfort in the fact that Mom was now happily in heaven. I said that I was very comfortable with that fact but I appreciated her prayers. The next day, a plant was delivered to me from my co-workers. It had three different plants together and one was an African violet. It was an answer to my friend's prayer...that Grandma and Mom were happily together again in heaven. I am really working hard to keep that African violet alive. I wish you lived near me so that you could foster it for me when things don't look so good.

((hugs)) to all today. I sure hope that it's a good weekend for everyone.

GOOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING!!!!!!!!!

ON MY 3rd cup of coffee.....can ya tell???
smiley-eatdrink013.gif

So yesterday was WIIIIILLLLLDDD to say the least.....the boys were stuck inside all day because it was just too cold and windy....They played football, wrestled, screamed, fought, WATCHED A MOVIE (by force I will add...they did not like that too much..but did like the movie :becky:), had sock fights, OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH it was a loooooooooooooooooong day!!! Jaiden did not feel good at all....she layed on the couch all day long..she never played at all...and I had to comfort her quite a bit at times.....she finally fell asleep around 3:30 and slept til 5:00...she woke up feeling much much better....Savannah and I played most of the day so she would not get tangled up with those rowdy boys!!!!! Although, I was more afraid she would hurt them :pound: she is a very very rowdy little girl!!!

Today is cleaning and grocery store....tomorrow is SCRAPPING!!! SCRAPPING!!!!! and Monday, the kids are out again, but Sharon is off and we are going to take them to the indoor Winter Carnival that is here this week.

That about sums it up for me......

OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHhh....

and my plans for NEXT WEEK.......................

Send my husband to work for three days and then keep him home with me for everafter!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :biggrin1:

check back with me in about a week after that....I will tell if it's the fairytale it's suppose to be :eyebrows:

drat. it's snowing again. we got aout 2 more inches overnight, are not supposed to get any more, but here it is. i GOTTA get out of the house! i've been in here for two days straight and i'm going mad. the roads look OK, though, so i think i'm heading out (to who knows where...) ASAP.

Nana Linda: what a love you are. i am DREADING my husband's retirement. he has trouble knowing what to do with free time, and i don't need a caboose!

Linda! new computer! wow! i say desktop. you can get a giant honking hard drive, then add a few EHDs and your scrapping universe will be excellent.

Frani, glad you're feeling better and that you're able to travel to see your mom. thinking of you.

Chris, the window thing went OK. now i have to wait and see whether what they did actually WORKED. i guess my question is: why would you have to ADD insulation to a window that sticks out from the wall of your house? why wouldn't it be assumed that there SHOULD BE insulation in the thing already, before they install it? and we're not talking a cheap window, either. Andersen. Mega-bucks. on the soul-sister thing: why do you think we're like that? always nice to welcome another :drama:-wary woman into my circle of friends! and your violet story was amazing. page???

off to eat a bunless burger somewhere, while thinking about what i can do without at home. i'm feeling another burst of "make a giant pile o' stuff and take it to Goodwill" afternoon coming on.

Oh Phylis, don't you hate it when you go stir crazy from the weather? We have been so lucky here. Got a few flurries this week but nothing much.

Nana Linda, it sounds wild there but lots of fun memories being made! And I am so jealous of your DH...3 more days. Can't imagine.

Do you like the induction range? I looked at them, but they were way out of my price range. But wow, they look cool!
Chris, I'm not sure what you mean with 'induction range'. Is it the way they look?
Mine is build-in into my Countertop. I didn't want gas anymore. And the money difference between induction and Ceramic was around $316.00
We had saves for remodeling our kitchen and livingroom. So that was not a big enough money difference agains my idea of the differences between those two LOL

Off to read the rest.

HAPPY SATURDAY!!! Not much planned for today, other than grocery shopping and going to look for my herb garden. Snow on the mountains today, but none down low in the valley so that is ok, its nice to look at up there, but don't want any here!! I slept in until 8:30 this morning, it was great!! I guess we stayed up too late last night watching many episodes of the Tudors. Hubby and I are really enjoying it, just love Netflix!!

Chris - What a great story about the African Violets, my mother could grow them, but sadly I do not have her green thumb, not for violets anyway. Other plants flourish for me but not them??. Sounds like you have the perfect day planned! I just have to figure a way of getting my hubby out of the house this weekend then I could just sit in my pj's all day and scrap along with you!!

Fran - So glad that you are feeling better and not contagious anymore! Happy for you also that your car is working well and that you get to visit with your dear Mother! to you sweetie!!

LindaS - Yay!!! A new computer! I have been wanting an IMac for so long now, but I think that it is just a dream for me... too expensive and so many other things to spend money on. My computer works very well still, but I am still using WindowsXP and would love to update to something newer. It is a want and not a need, so I will keep dreaming!! Hope your weekend is great and you have fun shopping!!

NanaLinda - Wow sounds really busy at your house! Glad that you get a bit of break today. I sure hope that having your hubby home with you works out as well as you are hoping!! I am sure it will! Let me know how it goes as mine is planning on just one more year with the RCMP and then he is pulling the plug. I am nervous!! LOL

Phylis- I hate being stuck in the house for too long too!! Hope the roads are good for driving and you get out for awhile today! I'm with you on the not needing a caboose thing!!

Yvonne- How are liking being a CheeryO?? Have you got it all figured out yet?

Have a wonderful weekend everyone!

Fran, good to hear you are feeling better! Enjoy your visit at your mom!

Linda, how is your new computer!?

Chris, that sounds so cool about the african violets :D

Trudy, yes, I like it so far LOL Still figuring everything out!

For now, I'm off to bed. Have a nice evening/day!

Gee ... 2012 is going to be hard. No digi-scrapping shopping! What was I thinking?!? I saw the most WONDERFUL template today. Added it to the wish list in the store ... I will have lots of work to do in the beginning of 2013 looking through all wish lists in stores LOL

Well ... I don't have any restrictions on any other shopping, so today I ordered the box: Beverly Hills 90210 - the complete collection. 71 DVDs ... I'm sorry to say, by Wednesday I'll probably have it here ... and you won't see me until I've finished them all LOL

LOL Eva!! You'll have a 90210-marathon!
I'm curious if you can keep your non-shopping-goal!! so far you are doong good!!

Good morning! It is quiet here ATM. Gary and fur kids are sleeping. Cait is at a friend's and Scott and several of his buds are upstairs asleep. They had a bonfire here last night in the fire pit. It was nice to have them all here, that always makes me feel more comfortable. Why they picked such a cold night, I have no idea, but I guess to 15-16 yo boys... whatever. Right?

Yesterday was almost too quiet for me. I am not used to having free time. I cleaned up the house a bit, then I scrapped a page, and then scanned some photos and negs. Part way through I noticed that some of the photos were prints form the negs. But when I compared them side by side, the scans from the negs are in much much better shape. My dilemma was do i scan 4 photos at a time but have them scratched and wrinkled. or do I scan one neg at a time?
I am sure you all know what I am doing. Gotta go for quality on this one.

well, Catzila is awake and saying goodmorning all over me and my keybd.

xoxo!!!

So I was up until 1:30 last night.......feeling that this morning!!

..............................coffee...please....

Chris.....I love those old photos you have posted...I can't wait to see more!!!! and yeah....QUALITY FOR SURE!!!

Fran....glad the car is on the mend....and you too sweetie!! hope your visit with your Mom is nice!!

LindaS....WOOOOHOOOOOOOOO!!! NEW COMPUTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!! HOW AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Let us know what you got and make us all sin (ENVY) :)

Phylis....I was dreading Mike retiring when we first talked about it....I got him to work for 3 more years  but I just hate seeing him so miserable...and for about 3 or 4 years he has been.....so I am happy now that he is happy!!! HOPE YOU GOT OUT OF THAT HOUSE!!! ...ppssstt..keep all that snow...I don't want ANY!!

Yvon.....I don't know exactly about induction myself...other than they are suppose to be better...and LOTS MORE EFFICIENT!!!

EVA....:pound: you crack me up.....now don't you stay away to watch 71 dvd's....that will be a while!!! WE NEED YOU HERE!! WE WILL MISS YOU!!!

Trudy.....hi ya my Can. Sis.....no need to be nervous about the hubby being home....do like me....Mike doesn't know it yet....but I have a hell of a to do list going on right now :becky: he is gonna be buuuuuuusssssseeeeeeee!!!! LUCKY GIRL SLEEPING IN UNTIL 8:30!!!!!

nana, WTH were you doing up til 1;30? No, don't tell me, I don't wanna know. :lalala:

here's some coffee for you!:tea:

I'll have to post some more pics later today, they are so amazing. My uncle looks identical to him now. Its crazy! Then there are some pics of my mom as a little girl that I see the resemblance to me as a little girl. But I don't see any connections to us and how we look now. Caitlyn looks so much like my grandma. Its all so cool and weird and neat.
What i am most excited for is all of the background on them. It makes me hope that i can do more in the way of journaling on my pages to make it easier and more interesting for future gen's of my own family. I really stink at journaling but maybe if I can even add names and dates... it will be a start.

Eva! 71 DVD's!!?? You will have to come up for scrap time at some point. Although if you watch al of those DVD's it will be easier to not buy scrap stuff.
Can you share what template you found?

Yvon- your induction range, is it the kind that uses magnetic waves to heat the food? Ours is electric/radiant glass cooktop. But they make a range (stove top) hat you have to use cast iron pots on and it heats the food through them. As soon as you take the food off, it instantly cools off. Seems very interesting!

Phyllis- were you able to get out yesterday? We only had a bit of flurries again, and I am so happy about that. But they are predicting sleet/snow for Tuesday.
That is nuts about the windows. I feel old and crotchety but I say this all of the time- They don't make things like they used too. (you'd think I was waaaay older than 43 :pound: )

Fran- hugs to you. Hope that you are feeling physically better and that you have a comforting visit with your mom.

Linda S-- ooooh what kind of computer did you get???? I bet you can't wait to scrap!!!
What a sweet story of your flowers. messages do have a way of coming through, don't they. Not sure if this has anything to do with my af violets success, but I heard that they like east light and water from the bottom, they don't like their leaves wet.

hey Trudy!! How was your day? It would be funny to get all of us Oooo's together to scrap. One big room, lots of computers and we'd all be chatting online, LOL

I hope I didn't miss anyone, but if I did, extra free hugs!!!

i did get out yesterday for a little bit. had my bunless burger while listening to my Lord of the Rings BBC audio CDs. the love of my life, really.

waiting to get out of the driveway so i can go grocery shoppong. hubby is going to a Christening that i'm not attending. i have to wait until he leaves so i can get out. remind me some day to tell you about the FLEET of cars currently living at our house. a large pain in my butt. there are cars being moved around constantly.

woke up at 4:30 after going to bed too early. i had my lunch at 9:30!

the sun is shining. for this one January day, SUNday is well-named.

have a happy day!

phylis

Happy Sunday everyone!! A beautiful sunny one here today also, but very frosty brrr!! A little cleaning today then hopefully a whole lot of O time!! Hopefully I can squeeze in a walk somewhere with MMG!

Chris - its great when the kids decide to hang out a home isn't it!! You know what they are doing and where they are, no worrying!! :thumb: Sounds like you are having a great time with all of your family photos, genealogy can be very addictive! Do you every watch the shows called "who do you think you are"? They are put on by ancestry.com I really enjoy them!

Nana Linda - Hmmmm up until 1:30 you say?? Sounds like someone is enjoying their retirement!! :eyebrows: :censored:

Eva - Don't forget to come up for air and to eat during your marathon!! I don't know how you could sit in front of the TV that long?? But if its something that you love to watch then I guess its doable! Enjoy!! Oh and that template is great!! Hard to resist!!

Phylis - Now you have my curiosity all built up about your fleet of vehicles, you really have to tell us the story now!!! Up at 4:30?? I think that a nap might be in order today for you! Hope your day is great!!

Well off to make brunch for MG and myself, then cleaning and then back here for some scrap time and to leave some lovin!! So much beauty here at the "O" its sometime hard to know where to start!
