Darnit. It totally feels like Autumn this morning. It is 52* and I can't get warm. I think I am going to have to break out my fuzzy socks, the summer ankle ones aren't cutting it ATM.
I slept better last night, in that I didn't have nightmares or any that I can remember, at least. Allergies are still making me feel crummy but at least I am not 100% exhausted. My day felt like a blur- I was trying to avoid thinking. You know how everything I do is backward? Haha. Most days I struggle to remember s***, this time I was trying to block sad emotions and grief. Long story short- tomorrow is the 1 year anniversary of Sam's brother's death and she posted something on FB that I can't get out of my head or my heart. After trying to unsuccessfully block it for a while, I was able to talk to both of my kids and that helped. Scott knew what I had seen and he got it. Came over and hugged me tight.
Cue more Helpless Mom Feelings
Wasn't life so much easier when you could slap on a Band-Aid and make everything better with a kiss?

I missed seeing two bears on my street in the morning. One was across the street and ended up in the overgrown field next to my house before I could get a glimpse. As that was happening, there was a woman walking up the street so I went out to warn her about Bear #1 and she said that there was another one on the road where she was coming from- a police car had stopped her to give her a heads up too. There have been a lot of sightings but I haven't seen any yet. This is their busy time of year, getting chunky before they hibernate

I don't have anything planned here for the next few days, so maybe I can catch up on scrapping since I spent so much time trying to fix ACDSee and *not* scrapping the past 2 weeks. It might be a good day to bake something.

HAGD! xo

I am sooo sleepy! Our neighbors behind us left for the night with their hound left outside. He howled and barked all night long. They have done this before and I feel so sorry for the dog. It was 100 degrees last night - never dipped down so I’m sure he was hot too. We wound up calling animal control. That poor doggie - as mad as I was at the no sleep bit, he must have been miserable. It’s still dark and I’m afraid to look in their backyard to see if he made it through the night. His owners don’t deserve him.

@faerywings I am so sorry that the listing on FB put you in such a way. Trauma had a way of popping up when you least expect it.

Bears?? Where do you live?

Good morning ladies. I started my day scrapping. Last day of work. I'll get done what I get done! My boss wants to meet me for coffee this afternoon just to get my insights on the organization. I have to give him props for that...I'm a contractor so he doesn't need to do that but I think he is really trying to improve their culture.

@pachimac that makes me furious about your neighbors. Good for you for calling animal control. What type of people do that? (Well way too many. The dog that we are fostering---hopefully for the last time---was used as bait in dog fights. So I know that the world isn't great for some animals. At our house, it really isn't a bad life. ;) )

@faerywings I am so jealous of you breaking out fuzzy socks. I cannot wait to take my September trips---destination fall! And I am so sorry about the Facebook post...hope Sam is hanging in there.

@vickyday I am one of those people who feels worse after a nap. As someone who has had chronic headaches, I know that feeling of trying to figure out what causes them so you can stop them but there are too many reasons and they keep coming at you ~~~~> pew pew pew

The dog poop scooping is on my lawn and me being lazy. I try to scoop every day but I don't always. (*ahem* usually :/ )
I am happy for you that this is a good season for you, anything colder than 70 is freezing to me LOL
Game day with Carolyn sounds wonderful for you both. How was your lunch date?

@BrightEyes I hope you weren't too stiff after spending all of the morning outside in the yard on Wed. Have a great time with DD#1 and hope that all of your kids enjoy the plums ;)
Oh my goodness, DD#2 was very lucky to not lose her leg. The day we got into our accident we were riding home from a bike show and I remember noticing how many people there limped or had canes and that made me wonder how many were from accidents/dumps. Nope, not more bikes for me either

@LSlycord Whew!!! Ok, so not the best news that you have to get rechecks every 3 months but so glad that it is not straight to surgery. Promise us that if you start to get any symptoms you get right in to see the Dr!!!

@Cherylndesigns I can't wait to see Tex and Lex together again. The hay bales looked so cute last year. Are they really that messy?
I thought about the tea before bed but I have to watch how much liquid I drink or I am up a million times which defeats the purpose ;)
Thanks for the support for my nephew. BFF said that he is really taking it hard and I can't blame him
Caitlyn and I always laugh that we change our PJ leggings to daytime leggings. The first time she came home wearing her work clothes (black pants/blouse/blazer) I told her to go upstairs and put her Halloween leggings on so I could recognize her.
Your kitchen is open to smell so delicious after picking/drying all of your herbs

@taxed4ever How nice to see your brother for his birthday tonight, a swim sounds lovely! Cheesecake sounds lovelier LOL
You have a busy weekend coming up too- is Monday a holiday in CA or just the US?
Yup, you know me too well, no napping here.
I am the same way, I hold on to my summer flowers as long as I can, and by the time they are dead, it doesn't make sense to put out mums for just a month or so. Pumpkins, however, I can't wait!

Vicky- I don't think I would make it if my kids live that far from me. *sob* I know- I would because I wouldn't have a choice, but I am grateful I still have them home with me.

@LSlycord thanks for the good thoughts for my nephew, it is that Catch 22 - he made it to the end of the interview process but they went with someone with more experience. So he can't get a job without more experience but can't get any more experience without a job!
The job that Caitlyn is filling in at currently (Academic Advisor) has an opening that she has applied for. She looked like she was going to be an easy shoo-in (her boss and his boss love her) but another applicant is personal friends with the chairman of the hiring committee so that is now up in the air. :(
*sighs*

Thx for explaining the valve surgery, I was going to ask about the valve clip surgery which is what my mom would get if the pacemaker surgery didn't help her valve function. Maybe by the time you potentially need surgery, they will have a less invasive option for that too. Good thoughts as always xo

Wishing everyone a terrific day and weekend!

@pachimac Oh, poor pup! And you. Neighbors across the street used to have a husky that they kept outside even in the summer and the poor thing howled, broke my heart.
I live in North NJ, up near the NY State border-- lots of bears in the woods around me. I worry about Scott when he is on the trails for work but he knows the drill on how to stay safe.
@LSlycord good luck on your last day!

Thanks for the good thoughts for Sam. The family is not good. Scott took off of work so he can be "on call" if she or any of them need him. Cait was a mess leaving for work today, she heard a song that they played at his memorial service- said it was only the 2nd time she heard it in the past year. Shook her up. And I feel so helpless

Real quick in and out this AM. DD#1 arrived at 8PM last night. We ended up talking until after 11... so good to have her here. Looks like she will be staying at least until next Thursday... maybe longer, so she will get to see DS#1 and his wife. I need to get dressed as I am heading over for the library's quarterly sale. We need to go to the grocery store this afternoon to pick up a few things. It may be hit or miss with my posting, CT work, etc for the next several days.

Morning O ladies!! It must be September, there is fog all over the Lake this morning. The air is cooler today and the Lake is quite warm I am sure, hence the foggy conditions! There are signs that the Maple trees will be turning colour soon too, it is so dry and the trees are all so stressed! We sure could use a good rain, but none in sight until this Sunday, when we will of course be at the In-Laws and I want to go for a swim  . I got the cheesecake baked and will make a chocolate drizzle for it today and will make a bit of whipped cream to have with it too! Birthday card is all done and I finished off a Junk Journal that I have been working on for a few weeks. Here are some photos of the finished project.
IMG-2438.jpgIMG-2439.jpgIMG-2440.jpgIMG-2441.jpg

Lots of cool stuff on the inside but I won't bore you with that. Perhaps I will make a little video with all of the things on the inside? I also started a scrap page for one of the challenges so I really should get that finished and get it posted. Need to do a few other things to catch up here and other than that, I will just enjoy the sunshine and putter around the house a bit.

@faerywings - Glad to hear that as far as you know there were no nightmares last night! Sorry the allergies are still bothering you, hope that clears up for you soon! OMG is it really a year ago tomorrow that Sam lost her brother??? Sending hugs to everyone!! Such a tragic thing!! So Sad!! Oh and yes it is a long weekend for us here in Canada too. A really good time to not be on the roads or travelling anywhere, but nooooo, we have to make a trip to Costco LOL.

@pachimac - Ohh bad dog owners!!! They are the worst!! We have neighbours like that also, our "BAD" neighbours let their dogs bark for hours on end poor dogs!! They really don't seem to care and have had animal control visit them numerous times and even got fined a few times. It is a bit better now, but I am sure it will get worse again soon. I could go on and on about them LOL.

@LSlycord - Happy last day of work!! Are you going to meet up with your boss this afternoon for coffee? Good on him for wanting to improve things! I hope you get to enjoy the gorgeous fall colours and cooler temps on your trips this September! Enjoy retirement!!

@BrightEyes - How wonderful that your DD#1 will be around when your son and dil come to visit also! Must be so nice to see her on your own for a bit too! Have a great time with your family and don't worry about things here. We will all still be here when you get back LOL.

Ok the coffee cup is empty and so is my tummy, I am hungry this morning which is really strange for me as I usually don't eat until around 10:30 - 11:30 am. and its not even 8:30 yet. Have a great Friday everyone!

Good morning, Lovelies.

I'm slow starting this morning and I was logged in all night again. GAH - I could have sworn that I logged out. Oh well.
Chris @faerywings this has to be a sad day for all of you. Has it been a whole year? I can hardly believe it! The first year is the worst! It never gets easy, and never goes away, but that first year is bad. It just hits everybody in the face and brings everything back! Sending all of you love and cyber hugs today. Sending more hugs to your nephew too - it's so hard to wait, but just the right thing will come along for him. I wish you could drink that tea - I swear by it. We poop scoop and we live in the country. I don't want to go walking through the yard and step on it. We're lucky - we can just throw it back in the woods. If somebody steps in it back there, oopsie. We lived under such strict HOA rules for so many years and we carried the little baggies around any time we walked our dogs. We even had "poop stations" in a couple of locations where you could dump the little bags. They had bags available there, too, in case you forgot yours. Haha WHY are we talking about this? BWAHAHA Seems pretty normal in here. Tex and Lex are going to be happy to be out of their box.

Kay @BrightEyes have a wonderful visit with your kids. I know you're looking forward to it.

Susie @pachimac how awful about that poor dog! That's animal abuse to leave a pet outside in that horrible heat! You're right - they don't deserve a dog.

Trudy @taxed4ever you're so talented! When do you find time to create such beautiful paper projects??? You must be so organized. You make the most beautiful and intricate cards and I'll bet your Junk Journal is amazing! I really hope that you do a video on that - I'd love to see it.

Gotta go - Casey's coming to clean today and you know what that means. "Cleaning before the cleaner comes" as my husband teases me. She cleans Adrienne's house first, then comes here. Two weeks ago, it was going on 5 o'clock by the time she got here. She knows we don't care - just don't come early! Chuck gets up early, but we're not morning people - well, I'm definitely not. We dogsat one of the girls last night - Bailee - she was SO good. We had her for about 4 hours. She and Daisy took turns jumping up on the couch to lay between us. Hahaha

TGIF everybody.

Good Afternoon!
I got a late start today (didn't get out of bed until 9:15! o_O ) I wanted to go to see a lady from our church who had open heart surgery 2 weeks ago and finally got to go to a rehab facility yesterday. I called her but the call went straight to voicemail. Tried to leave her a message but her mailbox was full! I ended up sending her son a text and she called me immediately, LOL! Anyway, I got dressed and went to see her. Stayed there for about 1 1/2 hours. While I was there her son fixed her phone problems, too.

Then I stopped at Burger King on the way home. Walmart was at the same stop so I went there to pick up a birthday gift for our 18th grandchild who turned 1 today. We are traveling to SC next weekend for his party.

Next stop.....HOME! We are tea drinkers, so the first thing I had to do was make us some fresh brewed. Mark is diabetic, so I use stevia to sweeten his and regular sugar for mine, so I brew two separate batches. DH was at a stopping place at work, so he got in 7 extra hours than usual this week! I got Mark a sandwich at Burger King. He likes "warm" stuff, so I got him a Southwest Whopper. He said it was pretty good! I won't be fixing supper for a while since he just ate it! He's relaxing in the "man" room, waiting for it to cool down outside before he tackles the yard work.

I didn't get any scrapbooking done yesterday as I intended but got quite a bit of scanning of photos done. I'm working on old b&w's of me and my family as soon as I finish here. So you will see some of those this month, too. Yesterday I got side tracked down a rabbit hole looking up ancestry stuff and texting back and forth with my SIL. Does anyone have suggestions of a good site.....FREE of charge.....to do some searching?

@faerywings I am one of your people who doesn't dare try to take a nap during the daytime, too! For one thing, it takes me a long time to get to sleep. But once I'm asleep, I want to SLEEP! And it ruins any chance of my sleeping at night! So, I don't take naps no matter how much I want to! And your scenario of the headaches is spot on for me.....so many different ones and too frequently, too! I've basically just learned to live with them.....my thorn in the flesh! ;) Glad you slept better last night!!!

I could live in a place that has 70 degrees temps year around! However, I don't mind winter as much since living in NC. Our winters are (so far) not too bad! We might get one or 2 good snows but it is usually gone the next day or a couple of days later! I can handle that! Gives me enough of a chance to get some pictures and then I'm good to go! :D

Game day with Carolyn was fun, as usual! I love being around her and Ilene. Such sweet, Christian ladies! The quote challenge with @ClaireG this month has the perfect quote that I am going to use to scrap a picture of the 3 of us together!

I also got some pics of DH and I out to lunch yesterday, so the date was good all the way around! ;)

Yes, I hate that my kids are scattered here and there, too! It sure makes for sweet gatherings, however! Full of teasing and games and fun together! We played games with them all the time while they were growing up. We continued it with the grands, too! And we can get kind of loud, too! Another advantage of living in the country, LOL (literally!) :D

Sorry for those who are grieving with you. @Cherylndesigns is right.....the first year and anniversary is bad. It will get some better, but the grief never goes away! And even though my first husband has been gone 5 years now and I'm married again I still miss him everyday. I'm sure @BrightEyes knows what I mean! I got weepy during the week before the 5th anniversary, but I was OK on the anniversary. But my oldest daughter (child #1) was in that weekend and she broke down hard, so I was glad she was here so I could comfort her somewhat. One thing about my current husband is that my first husband was Mark's pastor and he loved Tim, too! So he doesn't get upset when we are talking about Tim among family.

@pachimac we have neighbors across the street whose dogs go through spells where they bark a lot! Never to the extent you experienced! They use theirs for breeding sometimes, however, and when the new dog is added to the mix, they might bark more until they get their business done, lol! I'm not an animal lover, per se, but I don't want them to be mistreated!

@BrightEyes so glad you get a whole week with your DD and that she gets to see her brother and sil! How fun!

@taxed4ever I insist that you do a video on your junk journal! ;) I would love for you to share what your plans for it are and how you use them for yourself! I would love to make one, but I am afraid I just don't really know what to do with them! PLEASE "bore" us!

OK, I'm off to do some scrapping! Hugs to all!

THE free site for genealogy research is familysearch.org. To really use it, you need to register with name and an email address. They will not bug you about their religion with that info. There are many free sites for certain types of information, names or locations, but this is the big comprehensive one. Your public library probably has a subscription to Ancestry Library Edition that you can access at the library making that a free resource.

@faerywings I am right there with you about the naps. Can't do them - hardly ever. I get heavy headed feeling from them, YUCK. Said a brief prayer for your family today. Grief can eventually transition to a sadness coupled with memories. But each person is different and has a different time process. Hope you get to create- that is a real help in working through these types of things
BEARS! Ohhh! We have Black bears here in our area. We didn't see any at the State Park this week though. Oh well. We once saw some crossing the road near a golf course in Myrtle Beach. S.C. is chopping down so many pine forests, I'm concerned for the poor things!!

@pachimac The dog barking! UGH! I LOVE dogs, but not untrained ones. The house next door just sold and new owners moved in, WITH a SUPER annoying dog who is worse than a yelpy Chihuahua!! Honestly! I have never heard a dog that sounds like a child literally screaming until yesterday. Now, this can't continue, cos I think they tie it up near the fence which is opposite our patio and that's MY quiet space!. I really hope I don't have to address it.

@LSlycord Hope it went well with the boss. You are a contractor?? Building? (Newbie question) Job searching is such a roller coaster. I hope Caitlyn's comes to a good end soon. I pray you continue in stable condition. My Mom had similar issue and has had a pacemaker for 10 years. She had to have a triple bypass. Not fun. (But that's cos she eats ice cream non stop. lol. She won't listen to us girls telling her anything. She is 87 so I think she feels entitled. ) True that heart surgeries are becoming so much better every year- pretty amazing! When do you leave for your trip?

Kay @BrightEyes Enjoy your family time!!!! We have family in In., Ohio, NY, Fla, Missouri, and Tx. Don't see any of them often. Haven't seen my own sisters/parents in two years. Sigh. Such a blessing when you can see them!!

@taxed4ever I am excited about the cooler weather yet to come, but not rain! SC gets a LOT of rain in the Fall. Won't be bringing out socks till end of next month. :D Your book looks terrific!!! Such fun!
@Cherylndesigns You sound like my Mom- cleaning before... ha! And her house is NEVER dirty. Mine is though!!! HA again!
I had such a rigid upbringing with the Children's Home rules, schedules etc, that I clean only a few times a week. We had a maid in Honduras- that was cool. But she wouldn't use the green scrub pads I asked her to use. She insisted on cloth rags and they hold so much bacteria!! It was an interesting tit for tat with language confusing things sometimes.
@vickyday Keep us updated on your history search! We are starting one for hubs- the Cherokee branch.

Thanks for the tip on the heritage site. Will Check that out.

We had a wonderful time away at the State Park. It is in the "sandhills" area of the state. A beautiful cabin to stay in. We both wanted a third night, but alas, they make you book for a two night at a time- meaning we woulda had to do four nights and we couldn't. It was great to get away from this small crammed apt. and be where no clutter is. And quiet- soooo private and quiet. Loved the screened porch with a woodlands view. That's my happy place! We watched the sunset both nights. Last night was spectacular. And we had a beautiful Iraqi dinner on the porch. Ahhhhh. :D Only complaint was the bed was way too high- I'm 5'4" and it hit my waist, and it was rock hard. My hips and shoulders need a mattress topper.
We plan to return, or maybe visit another park with cabins- next time up in the Blue Ridge mountains!!!

@pachimac I don't think liking you is an issue, LOL. But high pitched incessant barking/yelping- intolerable. We had a m ini Chiuahua once, she wasn't like that. But this dog--- I couldn't see what kind it is- fence is too high and growth multiplied while house was on the market. Again, it scared me yesterday cos it sounded like a small child screaming! Bizarre.

Saturday morning here, and I'm about to go to work. I've been working monday, thursday, friday and now saturday this week. Next week I'm working monday, friday and sunday. Sunday is the actual election day, and I will probably work more or less all day and night. Election closes at 8pm and after that is the counting starting. Haven't got my work hours yet. Will be good money, I hope. AND I will be doing something for the country and the democracy.

Checked my eyes yesterday & ordered new glasses. ÷#€@ it's expensive! I need 2 pair, one for reading & one for living so to speak. Little over 17.000 SEK!!! (About US$ 1600) Thought Urban would file for divorce when I told him. LOL
