I am back home, did you behave while I was gone?
*looks and sees food splattered on the walls, some fingerpaint on the fridge door, and cookie crumbs everywhere*

Oh. That is *my* house. hahaha!!! JK, the family doesn't have fingerpaints anymore.

It felt nice to be back but I already miss the shore. I just feel so much better when I can see and hear the ocean. It really centers me. We had a nice time- we made it down before noon on Tuesday and our toom was ready so we checked right in, grabbed a quick lunch and we were on the beach before 1 pm. Wed. was really windy but sunny and warm so that was also a nice day- we went to the pool for a bit, then to the beach again. I was able to get reservations for a fancy Italian restaurant for dinner, right across the street from the ocean, and had the most delicious seafood risotto. The dish was so ginormous that I brought the leftovers home and shared them with Scott and Gary for dinner last night. It was too bad that it rained all day yesterday. We would have stayed much longer if it were nice.

The family was good about keeping in touch, I got some pics of the rats and the dogs. Scott called to tell me about the funeral arrangements which will be on Sunday. They went over to see Sam and Ian last night for an hour and told me that Sam actually was smiling a bit. Yesterday was Cait's first full day on campus for office hours as well as her class and no one had any appts so she was *bored*!

Not much is happening today, I am 95% unpacked I just have to run a few loads of laundry. Tidy up a bit. I barely saw Caitlyn and I promised I would spend some time catching up with her.

HAGD!!

@taxed4ever How I wish I could have sent the neighbor stomp away after getting threatened with the two different fines!
You are quite the "water magnets in the wrong places" right now. I am sorry to hear that your hot water tank burst too. So happy that you are back hiking regularly, that will help your mind/mood so much, I bet.

@Cherylndesigns Your ferns don't come back? I wonder why? Mine will come back and spread, they get little baby ferns and I will dig them up and move them all around, I have a nice area under the hedges that are all filled in from just a few plants last year. My impatiens are at that scraggly point too. I cut down the morning glories in the front of my house and put some marigolds in pots for some color.
Oh wait, I see about your ferns, you have them in pots/baskets-- can you put them in the ground, they should come back then.

xoxox

PS: Has anyone seen @nancyr ??? I met a woman on the beach who lives in the same town as her as she said that areas of it were in very bad shape

I'm a bit better today. Not 100%, but I've been able to scrap a bit. But now I need to go lay down again. Started on Downton Abbey yesterday. Feels like EVERYONE seen that show, but me. And now it's finally available on Netflix in Sweden. Just seen the first episode, so we'll still have to see if I like it.

Hubby and I are watching the new documentary serie on 9/11 on Netflix, guess we'll finish that one tonight. The boss had asked Urban today, if I was up to work tomorrow, but I think I better not. Noone wants to borrow books from someone with a snotty nose. LOL

Welcome back, Chris.... you were missed! Glad you had a nice mini-vacation and the beach revived you. Will be thinking of you and the family as you attend the funeral of Scott's friend's brother.

Eva, so sorry you are suffering with a stuffy nose and feeling bad. Hope it goes away soon.

Cheryl, I hear you about fall affecting the ferns and other plants. Yes, they get scraggly and die back - but they may come back next spring. The trees in the neighborhood have leaves starting to turn colors even though the temps are only dropping into the 60's at night so far.

I am slowly getting the office sorted out. Yes, mama Chris... I am behaving and not lifting heavy things!!! It is amazing how much can be hauled to the recycle bin when I take them in small loads. I managed to get the office bookcase cleaned out of old magazines, out-of-date software books, etc. I put the still needed software/computer books, etc on the bottom shelf. Hubby had a complete set of Golf Pro Lessons books that I will be donating to the Books for Literacy Friends store next week. Then I took the time to alphabetize the DVD movie collection and put them in the bookcase. So nice to be able to see them all and find what I want easily. I did keep the large Multi-disc-sets of DVD movies at the end of the TV cabinet as they are larger and take up a lot of space. The ones on the bottom shelf are the ones that are 'bad' as in acting, story, etc... that I will be getting rid of one of these days. And a duplicate DVD that I will be giving to DD#1 when she is here visiting.

The big clean-out of office and moving desks has been put on hold. Son-in-law #3 took a bad fall a few days ago and is the hospital. DD#3 has her hands full with dealing with his situation. Told her to take care of what needs to be done for him and my office can wait. I will get DD#1 and her DH to help move bins and some other items to the garage when they are here for a visit. In the meantime, I am slowly sorting through stuff in the desk and putting them in containers so the desk will be clear once it is time to move it out.

I finally got to the base yesterday and picked up Rx refills and did the commissary/grocery store run. And... I even remembered to fill up the SUV with gas. Glad for that as it was 15 cents a gallon cheaper there. The back held up pretty well - just needed to rest after I got it all put away. Will take today as a 'recovery' day and not do much. CYL

Morning everyone…I am at the hairdresser and waiting for my hair to process so will have to keep this short and sweet! We got the hot water tank replaced yesterday and what a hassle to get the old one out of the crawl space! Thank goodness hubby took the day off to help out and we even had to ask a neighbour to come and help too. There is no way the one person could have gotten it out!! So, many dollars later we now have really hot water again.

@faerywings Chris it is good to have you back and so nice to hear that you had a wonderful time

@tanteva sorry you are under the weather sure hope you feel better soon!

@Cherylndesigns I struggle to keep my ferns alive also however the ones that grow wild outside do amazing!

@BrightEyes -Kay you have been very busy with your purging and organizing! It must feel good! Hope your son in law will heal quickly and that you are taking care of your back!!

Good afternoon all.

Chris @faerywings we were so good - just a few food fights. Sounds like you had a relaxing few days and now I'll be keeping you in mind when you go see the family and then the funeral. Such a bad weekend all round. :(

About my ferns - they're the hanging ones - not the inground ones. I've never tried putting them in the ground, but they're like mums - some are annuals and some perennials. I love the wild ferns that grow outside, though. I've had hanging ferns for years and have never had any luck keeping them over the winter. You've given me something to think about though - I'm going to do some research.

Kay @BrightEyes your cabinets looks amazing! We have some of those cabinets are so beautifully organized. Sorry to hear about SIL's fall! Chuck fell on the bottom step of our DD's house Sunday night and scared me to death! He could have ended up in the hospital! Hope your SIL heals up fast. Chuck just had lots of soreness.

Trudy @taxed4ever how wonderful that you're getting your hair done! I need to wash mine in a few minutes - we're going to Braden's football game tonight and I decided that I wouldn't wear my baseball cap - that means washing my hair. My hair is so long that it's a real ordeal to wash it - it's half way to my waist. Maybe I'll just wear my baseball cap. ROTFLMBO

Eva @tanteva hope you're feeling better.

Waving to all.

If you hoover the mouse over her name, you can see she's been here today, 1.16 AM it says, but I'm not sure if that's my time or hers.

Crossing fingers, toes, legs, arms and everything else on my body! We're planning a trip! If everything works out fine, we'll be going to Vadstena (my favorite place on earth!) for 3 days in October. Will be great to see Vadstena in October, only been there in the summer before, have no idea how it looks any other season. Three nights at the hotel. Urban is going to do genealogy research (they have an big archive there), and I'm gonna bring my camera and take photos. And I'm sooo gonna enjoy the hotel!!!

Not a trip since summer of 2019 - geeeee how I hope this will work out!
