:whoo: It is TGIF!!!!!

It has been a weird week here for sure. Time is seriously *zipping* by and I just cannot get a handle on it! Tomorrow night is my dad's 75th birthday party. MY mom picked up a book that he wanted for me so I am giving him that, but I really needed something personal. A few (more than a few!) years ago, I started a scrap album for him. I scanned a lot old family pics and printed them out. I brought it back home with me, promising to add more pages. Yesterday I decided that I should add some more photos to it-- there aren't any of Christopher or recent ones of my kids either. I was able to scrap one page, printed another one that I did of my and the kids a few months ago and am struggling with a third. I;d like to get at least 5 done before tomorrow.
Anne- I need your scrap mojo, STAT!!!!!

Good and bad news on the teen front. Scott's car needs over $700 of work. *sighs* But what can you do? He can't be driving on the roads leaking oil. :(
But the good news is that Cait is now officially going out with her BFF Brendan. She texted me when she was over his house yesterday that she said yes. I texted back if it was ok if I jumped up and down. ;)
She was pretty darn happy that she said yes, and he was thrilled. (Sixth time is the charm?? LOL ) Yay!!

Off to clean today but at least I get to bring Cait with me. Then I have to pick Scott and Leah up at her house and bring them back here. Not much scrap time is there? Boo.

Hope that you all enjoy your day!!!!

Good morning Laurie! Hope that you had a great day puttering around the house!

Anne- Happy Belated birthday to Whitley!

Sally- were you able to get a lot of hand stitching done?

Clara- is this your first tattoo? Can't wait to see pics of it when it is finished!

Clara and Sally- my friend has lost 40 lbs on WW since January, she looks amazing, It really must work!

Yup, I am with Anne. I love wordiness! (Obviously!)

Nancy- It has been so dreary and rainy here th elast few days. Today the sun is shining so at looks pretty!
ITA with you-- it is hard to teach the kids to advocate for themselves. It is such a fine line between letting them do it all on their own and taking over completely. And man, is it hard to see them fall on their faces once in a while but that is all part of the learning process. Even as an adult I am still working on that for me ;)

Trudy- Good luck with your calenders! I made a roast chicken and baked potatoes last night, it was that kind of day here too.
And Yes! ITA -- I loooove Clara's novels and have missed them!

LINDA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man, I miss you!!!!!!!! You do not understand how happy my heart jumped when I saw your face!!!!! I hope that are able to start scrapping again soon. love to you and the fam!

Andrea- Hi there! Can I be nosy and ask you to tell me a bit about your illness? I looked it up on wikipedia and it sounds scary. As someone who is chronically ill, I love and appreciate hearing from others who are also chronically ill, how they cope, deal with everyday life, as well as the drag of always being faced with it. If you don't want to answer, that is absolutely fine too!

Phyllis-- I know you are out there, hope you are doing awesome today!

Hugs everyone!!!

Good morning ladies! I agree about the time flying Chris. Wish your dad a happy birthday Chris and give him a big hug from the girls at the O! I know that he and your mom are your rocks! And very sorry about the unexpected car expense!

We had conferences last night and Shaun had an A in spelling, B+ in social studies, B in science and is reading at grade level. In January, when his IEP ends, he will not get another one. He has made it! I am so proud of him! (For those that don't know the back story, Shaun heard his first words of English in a hotel in China when he was 4 1/2 years old. He had lots of catching up to do!)

Syd had all A's. Her teacher said that the only thing that she wishes for Sydney is that she would love reading for fun. She is above grade level and she does great in it...but she just doesn't want to pick up a book whenever she has a few minutes. So, the teacher and I have the same goal! She suggested a book club for Syd and I. She did it with her daughter. We read the same book during the week and agree to get to a certain spot by the weekend. Then we have some special Mommy and Sydney time somewhere while we discuss the book. She still does it with her daughter who is a senior in high school. Definitely trying this!

Day off of work. Taking Dad for a flu shot and then taking the kids shopping to supplement winter wardrobes!

Morning Chris and the O fam! I had a wonderful day yesterday, got to go at my own pace, the sun was out most of the day and streaming in my large kitchen/dining windows during the afternoon - Where I work has no windows, only the outside doors where the patients come in let me see the weather. I need to remember to take my lunch time walk to see daylight from now till Jan/Feb! I just discovered I can use my cutting machine files to make embossing sheets! I am making a thankful banner to hang on my fireplace mantle- guess what I am going to finish this weekend?

Oh Laurie...sounds like you are getting your Thanksgiving decorating done! Good for you! And tell me how you use your cutting machine for embossing sheets. (Yes, I'm still trying to justify that purchase!)

just a quick flyby today. company coming in a few hours, and i'm a Housecleaning Fool at the moment. sorry, no personals except one:

EEEEE!!! Linda S!! great to see you here again!! :cheer2:

Happy Friday, guys. sending good thoughts your way as i scrub the floor! :becky:

birthdays :frusty:
are frustrating enough
jealousy and anger from the other kids
add
the fact they are coming from wicked backgrounds, and the foster system sucks

prepare for small rant..
because they are kids and have been thru trauma, they still have to learn to be kind and give, not be takers and ungrateful...but it is a hard road

Whitley got his much desired remote control car...and his one year older and angry brother broke it...
ugly...
so now he has to "pay" for it...it just makes for ugly evening.
but
it's Friday, see small rant...lol
squishing my eyes and waving my hands for scrapping mojo to be bestowed upon Chris..or a template grabs her! lol
be back to babble, children are stirring...

Phylis, good morning! Hope you get your cleaning done so that you can relax before the company gets here! And I've got to find out where you have done your lineage search. I've been considering that myself!

Anne, how many kids do you have? Sorry that the birthday celebration was spoiled with anger but I know that it can happen.

good morning - the sun is shining here in NJ! Breezy but love the sun. I actually walked in the rain yesterday. When my girlfriend and I started it was not raining but it rained on and off the whole walk. But it was not cold thank goodness. But of course for me the best was my NJ Devils actually won in a shutout last night against the Flyers. Cam Janssen one of my 4th liners who was just called up from the AHL scored tonight. He is my husbands favorite player so he was happy to see that. He gave my team some real energy! Tonight they play the Toronto Maple Leafs and take on a former player. Going to get in a walk and scrap!

Chris time goes way too fast! Sounds like you will be having good mom and daughter time today. And happy birthday to your father!

Laurie sounds like a wonderful day and glad I have sun shining through my windows too!

Linda sounds like your kids are doing wonderfully! Enjoy your day off!

Trudy I will put the recipe in the recipe thread. My son wants me to make it again and was very mad when I ate the left overs LOL.

Have a great day all.

Anne such a shame to have the birthday day so stressful. It is a hard lesson to learn for any child.

Anne, how many kids do you have? Sorry that the birthday celebration was spoiled with anger but I know that it can happen.

I have 7 kids...here is a page, not O stuff, but once I rustle them all together again in one place I will do an O page:

LOL!!!

Happy day, everyone! I'm trying to scramble to get this apron done!! I did finish all of the embroidery!! yay!! So today, I need to finish the actual apron and write up the tutorial! yay!!

Blessings to all of you!!

(Anna, your kids are gorgeous!!! super big blessings to you!!)

Morning ladies... sun is out this morning  I slept until 8:15am yikes it seems the whole day is gone already!! But I did not have a good sleep last night, tossed and turned most of the night. I could not shut my mind off, with Heather (my DD) having this TV interview today, it must have triggered some old memories and I relived every day that she was in the hospital all those years ago!!! 2 & 1/2 months worth of sad, heart wrenching memories  I was so mad at myself for bringing it all up again!!! So on to better things today!!

Chris - Yahoo on Cait finally saying yes!!! You must be so happy, that she is ok with this!! But feel so badly for your unexpected car expenses!!! It just never ends does it!! I sure hope that you find some time in your busy day to get a couple more pages done for your Dad!! Say "Happy Birthday!" from us would you please!!

LindaS - how wonderful to see you here again, we have all missed you so much!! Sure sounds like the kids are doing great in school, I bet it has a lot to do with what a wonderful Mother and Father they have!!!! The book club thing sounds like a fabulous idea!! Hope your Dad is doing well, its so nice that he has you to help him out!! Enjoy your day off and the rest of the weekend too!!

Laurie - Nice to hear that you enjoyed your day off yesterday!! Bonus that the sun came out and shone upon you, soak up that vitamin D whenever you can!! I am still jealous of your cutting machine... I want one!!! :hurt:

Phylis - THE GRANDMEN ARE COMING, THE GRANDMEN ARE COMING!!! Ohh I hope that you have a wonderful time together!! My grandma heart is so happy for you!!

Anne - Seven kids!! that's a house full, but then its a great number! I am the youngest of seven and we had a wonderful time together, lots of fights, but many more happy times than bad!! Sorry that your birthday plans were spoiled by a bit of jealousy, but in a family that size it is bound to happen right?? Hope today goes smoothly for all of you!

Nancy - I walked in the rain yesterday too, but it was mild so I enjoyed the fresh air!! Glad to hear that the "New Guy" got some spark into your team last night!! You do love your Devils don't you!! I will go check out the recipe thread later on today and hopefully will get to make that dish soon!! Thanks!

Sally - Hope you get your apron all done sometime today, it sounds lovely and you will have to send a pic to us when you are done! Have a great day and enjoy your weekend too!!

Have to pop out for a few minutes today to get some blood work done, then finish another page for my calendars, almost done!!! Hope the sun shines for you all today!!

Anne, I can't imagine how you do it! As the 56 year old mom to a son who will be 11 next week and a daughter who is 9 1/2, I barely know if I'm coming or going. They are both adopted from China and they are the loves of my life! Shaun was adopted at 4 1/2 years and Syd at 18 months.

Can't wait to see more of your pages and hear more of your stories.

Nancy, it is Devil season again huh? I know how much faster following a team makes the winter go. Glad they won the game for you last night.

Sally, can't wait to see the apron! Don't know how you do it! And speaking of kids growing up, I can't believe how grown up yours have become!

Trudy, hope the interview went well for Heather today. And hope that the memories fade back into the distance. I can't imagine how hard all of that must have been!

It is scary, and there are stages/levels to it that many of the online resources don't tell you about. When they diagnosed me, it was just on an off chance based on some blood work that they thought anything was wrong. Over the last five years it's progressed but I've pretty much maintained my life with it. This year was the first time that I ever experienced a "crisis mode" with it (something else they don't tell you about on the online stuff) and that kind of freaked me out. I'm always neutropenic with squat for an immune system and considering I'm a nurse in a hospital that means I put myself at risk every day that I work but thankfully I'm able to work. I stay tired all the stinking time but I just make myself do what needs to be done. And the biggest inducer of problems for me is stress so I try to avoid it but that's not always possible unfortunately. If I get really stressed my immune counts will drop to practically nothing. I have NASH (liver disease) on top of it which only compounds things and makes it worse. Honestly, some of the things that have came from that are worse than the blood disorder. I build up so much edema/swelling in my legs and will collect excess fluid in my belly (ascites) that will eventually move to my right lung and cause fluid to build there.

How do I deal with it? Well, honestly, I just do. I know that may sound like a stupid answer but as a nurse I see so many bad things and I tell people all the time that if I took everyone in a room and had them throw all their problems into the floor in the middle that I would rush to grab mine back! I have a great support system with my friends and family but most importantly my boyfriend, Brent. He's amazing and understanding and I wouldn't trade him for the world! I was and still am to a degree of losing my "real" job because of medical absences since I've been in the hospital several times this year and ate up my FMLA time. It sucks but I just have to hope for the best and keep going. I'm an optimist and always will be. I know I'm a work in progress and that God isn't done with me yet and that he's not done with me here on Earth either. I know not everyone is the praying type and I'm not the greatest at it, don't claim to be, but I know it works so if you believe in and someone ever offers to pray for you then accept it and be thankful.

What is is that you have? Are you the one with Lyme? My best friend's little boy suffers with that, has since he was three :( It's hard!

Today has been kind of a down day for me and I've been more MIA than anything. My oldest son passed away 14 years ago tomorrow and I've had that on my brain a lot today. He would be a Senior in high school this year :( I think maybe tonight I'll do a layout about him and maybe that will help my brain clear a little. Tomorrow is a day of distraction for me and so Brent is taking me out for the day to just enjoy ourselves! :)

What a group of strong and persevering ladies. My heart just aches at your trials, and yet the spirit of victory shines.
