I did it again, I almost typed October up there. Glad I caught myself in time. At least it is warmer today than it was at this time yesterday. (29* instead of 28* LOL). It's supposed to get into the mid-50s later on like it did in the afternoon.
I had a relatively busy day yesterday. I didn't do anything big but I took down all of the indoor Halloween decorations to go back in the attic. I scrapped a bit and did some desk work. I am frustrated by the State of NJ. We have notoriously high property taxes and for households that are under a certain income/disabled/seniors, we can apply for a tax rebate. It's not a lot, but anything is better than nothing. My account status shows the rebate was processed and sent direct deposit on Oct 12. The website says that all funds should be dispersed by Nov 1st. I waited until the first before I started to worry about where the money was. It's definitely *not* in my bank account. I would notice any increase in it :floorlaugh: Called the state hotline, went through alllll of the prompts, and got a message saying "Due to a high volume, your call can not be connected, please try again later blah blah blah. Disconnect."

Who else has experienced that? All of you?
:banghead:
I'm going to have to try again today.

I was extra happy that Scott came for dinner last night. Caitlyn has had an awful week at work and needed the insanity of dinner with Scott to lift her mood. Registration for next semester opened up yesterday (at 4 pm, which is 30 minutes before her dept closes!) and she had non-stop calls and emails and appointments with students and more than a few parents. She has a huge caseload (~170 students) and she covers TAS (theoretical and applied sciences) which is one of the more complicated degree paths. She has a lot of good students who stay on top of her communications to get meetings and holds released so they can register. OTOH, there are more than enough who ignore her emails and then can't register for classes because a hold on their account can't be lifted. They try the "but I didn't know I needed to meet with you first." She brings the receipts-- emails, the autogenerated notifications they get when they log into their accounts, etc. She gets frustrated by the parents who give her s*** and then thanks me and Gary for not getting involved. Why would we, she was an adult and knew more about the school/classes than we did, you know? We would guide her when she asked but never even thought about calling the college for her.
Anyway, she got verbally beat up by a few, and Scott -- just by being Scott - had her feeling so much better. :)

Other than calling NJ again and my mom (which will be easier? :exitroom:) I don't have too much to do here. If it warms up enough, I might head out for a hike this afternoon. Gary has been feeling pretty miserable so I don't think he'll want to come with me, but I'll ask just in case.

HAGD and Happy Friday!

@vickyday It makes sense that my body temperature fluctuations are menopause. I was in perimenopause when I had my hysterectomy but that was almost 9 years ago. ( :jawdrop3: Time sure flies!) It's such a pain b/c I don't know how to dress aside from layers, lots of layers. haha!
Oh, your poor wrist! That's not a very pretty shade of yellow ;) I hope the three weeks go by quickly and you can get into a splint. And please take care of your back! Were you able to get an appt with the spine specialist?

@BrightEyes Now I am doubly glad that I didn't mess up the days of the week so you noticed that it was garbage day ( so much pressure on me to get the days correct! Ahhh!! :spinningchair: ) Warm flushes is a great description of what I am feeling. I noticed it more at the end of the day and I kept thinking it was just from standing over the hot stove. But as I feel it happening on occasion in the morning, maybe that is what it is.
Hope that it is warmer today than yesterday by you.

@Cherylndesigns I know it has to be fun to have Bailee around for short visits but I can't imagine the extra work for you, especially with a "needy" lab. Is there any other kind? LOL! And poor Sam, cats do not like having the "ecosystem" intruded upon. That is such a great description :D
Cute siggie-- so cozy!

@taxed4ever yay for a good night's sleep after a hike and fresh air. I bet you had a wonderful day scrapping, did you get any calendar pages done? Hope you had a good time chatting with Heather, did the boys have a nice Halloween?

ugh, I am running late, TTYS!

Noticing a lot of new siggy's here - great way to slide into a new season! Love them all. Since DD#3 and my birthday fall around Thanksgiving, I made my siggy a Thanksgiving one. Guess I will have to think about a changing it when December arrives.

@faerywings Not trying to put pressure on you about the days of the week heading for this chat...... but it has saved my butt several times already. Yes, I did get :takingouttrash:put out just in time yesterday. They came about 15 minutes after I wheeled them out!! So sorry that Cait is feeling overwhelmed with the students signing up. A night with the family and Scott was what she needed to unwind.

@taxed4ever I saw one of your calendar pages on FB... fantastic!

@Cherylndesigns So sorry that the dog-sitting was stressful for you. Hope Ava gets home soon so her dog will back home again. Glad to hear that Chuck is feeling better and going to be doing his PT so he can come home soon.

Some how yesterday got spent playing around on the computer so my meals were at crazy times. Had lunch at 2:30PM but the body still wanted to have food at 5PM!!! And it was cold enough that I crawled into bed at 7:30PM to stay warm!! The 'good' thing was I put on a winter/fleece PJs and they have a string at the waist so could tie it and keep the pants up at the waist. ***whew*** Have 3 of the same style - so I do have some winter PJs to wear. :pillowfight:

Am off to check on the Border Challenge I am hosting ... and other challenges. CYL

Morning everyone! The sun is shining on the mountain across the way, it looks very pretty out there this morning. I have to be quick in and out of here, I am heading out to get my flu shot with my DH. Then off to Hope Farm to pick up some eggs. I never did get out there last week and now I am almost out of eggs. I need to get dressed yet, but wanted to pop in to say hello and hope that you all have a wonderful :friday: I will come back later in the day and get my layout posted in the gallery and try to do some more scrapping. I have some Halloween photos that I need to work on so that I can use them for my October 2024 Calendar page. All the ones that I post on FaceBook are from the calendar I did last year and I thank those of you who leave love on my facebook page :thankyouspin:. Ok I need to get going and meet up with my DH, hopefully no side effects from this shot. (fingers crossed!).

Poor Caitlyn! I'm glad she felt better after having family time! Parents used to agree with school faculty but not so much anymore! The kids are pampered too much which gives them the entitlement syndrome. Not everyone, of course, but it sure seems that way sometimes! Especially for Caitlyn who has to deal with it all the time!
Seems your weather is flowing like ours! We might be a few degrees warmer. Hope you can get out and enjoy a hike today!

Yes, spine appt is Dec. 14. Better late than never. She did put me on a call list in case there is a cancellation.

I am not a fan of drawstrings and I usually remove them, if possible. But I'm glad you do have something cozy and warm to wear until you can make another WW run!

Good morning!
Mark is off today and is working on the shed at the back of the yard, of course! Perfectly cold weather for that task is exactly what he likes! So he should be happy!

He is doing well with the Ozempic! He doubled the dose for the last time last night and did fine! He will continue with this dose from now on. Not sure when his followup appt with his PC doc is.

I had to put ice on the wrist this morning as it was pretty swollen when I got up. But it is much better now. I had to apply ice to the back after visiting with Carolyn yesterday. Not too much stiffness back-wise this morning, thank the Lord!

Not much going on for me today. I started the color palette challenge yesterday but had to quit as my EHD locked up on me and I couldn't get to my designer files on it! :stupicpc::banghead:. I'm going to try opening it on my Samsung laptop and see what happens.

Ilene has invited us to dinner tonight so that will be fun, food and games, I'm sure!

HAGD! :waving1

Good morning.

It's 57 out right now, going up to 67. YAY. In a few days, it will be in the high 70's and even the low 80's. IIt sure was cold for a few days though. I'm sure it will get cold again, but what a wonderful respite for at least a week.

I was so chilled last night that I got in the back of my closet and dug out a very heavy pair of pair of sweatpants and a matching hoodie that I bought last winter. Man, did it ever feel good. I don't buy a lot of really heavy things, because I get too hot, but I needed that last night. Of course, by the time I went to bed, I was hot, so I changed into my normal pj's.

My dogs are laying on my bed, watching me right now. If I move a muscle, they're on the floor on their feet. They slept pretty well in the living room last night - Bailee only cried at my door a few times. I told her to go to bed. The cat tried to get in my room a couple of times, but I had my door locked. You all know that he's figured out how to get my door open, right? he "flips" the handle and if he does it hard enough, he can get in. I have to lock my door if he's sleeping in the living room. :floorlaugh:

Yes, Chris @faerywings cats don't like their world interfered with. When we got him, he had never been around dogs, so he's had to assimilate real fast with 4 dogs in and out of here all the time. One little cat can keep 4 dogs in line. :floorlaugh:

Glad Scott was able to come to dinner and get Cait out of her bad day mood. Sounds like she has her plate full. Sorry you're having trouble getting your tax rebate - good luck today. I hate that message, too BTW. I always wonder if they just take the phone off the hook sometimes. It's exasperating.

Kay @BrightEyes hope you can find some jammies - did you look at Marshall's? That's where I found some for Chuck. They're not very heavy, but he doesn't want heavy. They're flannel. Yes, having one more (big) dog in the house 24/7 has been more stressful than I expected, she's a sweetheart, but is always right under my feet or I'll get ready to back up and she's right behnd my feet. LOL Daisy isn't an "underfoot dog" we've trained her not to do that. I forget that other dogs aren't like she is. I've had to be a little more careful, but we're going to make it.

Vick @vickyday have a good day whatever you decide to do and continue to take it easy. Sounds like you're going Ilene's for food and fun.

Trudy @taxed4ever sounds like a beautiful morning there. I need to go get my fl shot - thanks for the reminder. They asked Chuck if he wanted one and he said yes, so he got his at the rehab facility. Now, I need to go get mine. Fresh eggs from the farm sound good. I fixed myself an egg, cheese and sausage sandwich on waffles (instead of bread) for dinner last night. Was it ever good.

Happy Friday to all and HAGD!

My brother has finished his chemo and he has 3 more radiation to go and then we wait and hope all that f*&^ing cancer is gone! I just ordered him a rose plant to go in his garden to arrive the day he finishes. I wanted to get a plant so he can plant it in his garden and see those roses as a sign that he killed that cancer!!!! (Thinking positively - and if he has to do another round, it's perpetually growing hopefully will give him hope).

Not much is going on for me today. Melissa applied for 3 places to work and is waiting to hear from them. Michael went to a Vegas Knights Hockey game last night - they won! YAY!

Looking forward to the new collab in December!

That's great news about your brother, Susie and what a wonderful idea to get him a living plant to commemorate his completion.
