Good morning, O-Fam! Are the Americans feeling any less stuffed than when they went to bed last night? I was full but not terribly so, I enjoyed my potatoes and stuffing. My FIL and MIL had me laughing-- FIL seemed shocked that I didn't eat any turkey and MIL was saying "I told you so, she never eats turkey!" My only disappointment, and it is a BIG one, is that we forgot the chocolate mousse at their house. Arlene makes the best choc mouse in the entire world and only on T-day. I was supposed to bring the bowl home with me and had it in my hands... but it never made it into the car. *sobs* I might text Scott to see if there is any way he could pick it up on his way home from Leah's today. They might be going to a show tonight and the ILs aren't really on the way home so I doubt he will want to.

I think that I am going to dust the "Disney cabinet" today. I usually dust everything in there once a year but I had no reason to do it last year so it is pretty grimy. We put the tree next to it so if I am going o do it, today is the day. I should get my day started so I don't; feel the need to rush through it.

Are any of you doing shopping today? I have one big order I want to place at Disney Store.com. Since my BFF and her family are going to Disney for Christmas, I think I am going to order a personalized photo album for them. It is *way* overpriced but I have credit card reward points that will cover it. And in the long run, it will be about the same amount if I bought things individually for them.

That is about it. I am going to sign off and mourn the loss of the mousse.

Hugs!

@taxed4ever Poor Mason, hope he is feeling better soon. I shouldn't laugh either, but I have this image of Hunter cracking himself up while he drags tree branches around the house.
ITA- Pineapple Express sounds much friendlier but if the end result is flooding I guess it doesn't make much difference *what* you call it.

@tanteva If you drive to my ILs to get the mousse, I promise to share it with you. :D

@vickyday The O is the best! Hope you had a nice time yesterday at s-DDs

Morning, Os... Hope all enjoyed the holiday - if you celebrate it. I really enjoyed my turkey dinner ... and loved the 'no clean-up' after the meal... just put the plates, etc into the dishwasher. :D Had calls from sister in Texas and great-granddaughters (and their mom) yesterday morning. Really brightened my day and made me feel loved. DD#3 called last evening and for a minute or two, I thought it was her son... she has a bad cold and her voice was really low and scratchy. All of her family has been down sick for the past week. Their grandson brought it home from daycare last week and everyone got it. Today is DD#3's birthday so I wished her Happy Birthday early as she said she planned on spending today in bed sleeping and trying to recover. Good thing we had cancelled plans to get together to celebrate our birthdays and Thanksgiving.

Are any of you planning on shopping in the Black Friday sales?? There are some great bargains out there. Will have to take time to shop around on-line. :p

Off to get my shower and get dressed. CYL

Good afternoon O Lovlies.

No shopping for me today. The girls went out, but I declined. The crowds around here probably won't be bad, but I'm planning on going to do a few things this week. We're going to get our boosters this week, so I'll wait til then and make it worthwhile. The dr told us to just walk in - we didn't need an appt. They know what we got and have plenty of boosters. I need to get my Christmas stuff out of the boxes and see what I need to replace. I can't find all of my Santa hats, so I know I need those. Adrienne said if she found any today, she'd get me a couple. I found one, but it's a nice one and I don't want to put it on Lexie and leave it out on the front porch. I had about 10 of them because we all used to put them on and wear them at Christmas.

I haven't been feeling very well - haven't said anything, but Adrienne even gave me a Covid test - she happened to have one at home. It was negative. It's more of a head cold than the flu, but I just haven't felt "right". I felt like dragging to dinner yesterday evening, but we didn't stay very long. I do feel a bit better today and have been just taking it easy. It was the first time I felt like I should take a Covid test. Now I need to pick a couple more of them up - I need to add them to my to-do-list when we go out. We took a group shot and you can definitely tell I wasn't feeling good - you can always see it in my eyes.

I'm gonna run - hope everybody is doing well and those of you who "Thanksgivinged" aren't in a huge food coma. Hugs

Good afternoon everyone, just popping in to say hey to all of you! I was out getting my grocery order and decided to pop into my fav little craft store and spent far too much time there LOL. Really did not end up buying much, but had so much fun looking at everything. The one thing I did go there for wasn't on the shelf and the website said they had two in stock. Well the lady who works there scoured the whole store trying to find it, but nope :( . She left a note for the owner, who might have a better idea as to where it went to. Had a long face time with Heather, both boys back in school. I think perhaps Mason was pulling a fast one one her the other day . She is happy to have the house to herself today and get the mess cleaned up that the boys made with the tree. Now it is time for DH to come home for lunch so I need to get that prepared. Oh BTW here is the other piece that I painted for the Teeny Tiny ArtShow and Sale. I was pretty happy with the way it turned out. Just waiting for the resin to cure so I can drop it off the show. Ok gotta go Sister In Law Sharon is on her way here and is coming for lunch too so I better get something ready!! Have a lovely day everyone! CYL!!

Good afternoon ladies. Looks like I need a new avatar...one without a mask. We certainly aren't mask free yet, but it isn't a constant in my life now, for which I am grateful. We did just spend last weekend at my great nephew's first birthday party so we flew to Iowa and, of course, that meant much time masked up. Nevertheless, it was a great time and almost felt like life was back to normal.

Thought I should check in and give you all an update on what's been going on in my life. I apologize to all of you for my sudden disappearance, but especially @faerywings. I think I had mentioned in one of my last posts that I had gotten some surprising news about my health. Out of the blue, I was told that I had aortic stenosis ( a bad valve) and that they thought it was severe. Then the tests began. Having only been down in Florida 2 years at the time, my doctors are all pretty new and I don't have a support system of people who have advice about the medical system.

Between that, the pandemic, living in a state without many friends, and feeling old (I turned 64 in October), I was pretty depressed. The surgeon was suggesting that I was 6 months to a year from open heart surgery and it freaked me out. I kept working full time, got the kids started in college (Shaun is a freshman and Sydney is a senior in high school but it 100% dual enrolled so only attends college classes), and kept doing what had to be done. But I didn't have any energy to be creative or to be chatty. And I wasn't ready to put into writing what was going on in my life.

In late September, right before I was scheduled for a heart cath, I made the decision to get a second opinion. Living in a suburb of Jacksonville, we are less than 30 minutes from Mayo Clinic. While I knew it would be more expensive, I also figured it was my heart so it was worth some extra expense.

I am so grateful that I made that decision. They did a full work up and agreed that I do have aortic stenosis but moderate rather than severe. The prognosis remains the same...I will need the valve replaced but for right now, with no symptoms, they said that they could only make me feel worse as I went through recovery from open heart surgery and it just isn't necessary yet. They put me on a schedule where I don't even need to see them until next year.

I was able to tell my brother all of this information in person last weekend. They found that I have a bicuspid valve which means I've had it since I was born. My dad had such a bad valve from rheumatic fever that they couldn't replace it but I now wonder if it was bicuspid to begin with since this may be genetic.

So, I am walking daily and I have given notice at work that I'm not renewing my contract. I'm going to take a month or two off of work and focus on me and this new stage of life. The kids are not only taking college classes but they are both working 25 -30 hours per week. Sydney is trying to decide where she will do her undergrad next year and most schools that she is looking at are no more than 2 hours away...but it sure won't be the same. I need to do a re-set.

Anyway, all of this information is mainly to apologize for the sudden departure. I will stick my feet in gradually and see if I can't get some creative juices flowing. I promise I won't just disappear like that again.

Looking forward to catching up with everyone again.

@faerywings I can't believe that you didn't make it home with the chocolate mousse. That would make me very sad.

We had a big Thanksgiving meal yesterday...I cooked the same menu that I used to make for 13-17 people and we just had the 4 of us. We will be eating leftovers for awhile.

@Cherylndesigns I'm sorry that you aren't feeling well. Hopefully you will feel better next week. I got my booster a couple of weeks ago and Brian is getting his this weekend. I also got my flu shot so I figured that I've done everything that I can do tl keep myself safe...and now I'm going to live a little bit again.

Waving hi to @bcgal00 and @BrightEyes and @vickyday.

Thanks, so much, Linda. We're going to be fully vaccinated after our boosters, too. We always get a flu shot and I've been a little hesitant to get the booster, but I told my husband we'd better get going on it. Glad you had a good Thanksgiving.
