It has to be the middle of February instead of November. It *has* to be one of the last snowstorms of the season, not the first. Right? RIGHT??????
NJ got slammed. And by a lot. All I can say is how happy I am that my family was home safe and sound. The stories of friends/neighbors taking hours and hours to get home-- one of my friends who lives a few houses down from me, she ended up staying at a hotel and her husband, trying to get home from NYC, ended up being able to meet her there. My kids don't have classes scheduled on Thursday so they would have been here anyway and Caitlyn's babysitting job was canceled. I bet Nancy's husband had a horrible time getting home too.
It is going to be a loooooong winter if this stays... It is still snowing here and very windy.

I was able to get a couple of things done like paying some bills. I finished another page for my IL's album so 10 down and 10 to go. I decided to take some leaves that were piled on the driveway and lawn figuring it the snow buried them it was going to make it harder to shovel. I am really glad that I did that. But that meant I didn't get any holiday organizing done and I *really* have to get some F-W's things started. That was my plan for today since both kids have classes all day. Now everyone is home. Scott's classes are canceled and 2 of Cait's are. She said that didn't think she was going to drive in for the one if the weather was still bad. It wouldn't surprise me if the school ended up being closed anyway.
So I have no freaking clue what I am doing LOL
What else is new?
Nope, I take that back. One thing I know that I will be doing is looking out the window and &%$**-ing about the snow!

Have a fun day and stay warm to allof you who are cold and enjoy the sun if you see it today!

Quick ins update: The state agency called yesterday to confirm that neither Scott nor I are employed. That is all.

Trudy- that is such good news that the weather cooperated and you were able to enjoy your hike. I am seriously jealous of the warm weather. You will relate to this at some point if you haven't already. Yesterday, my fingertips were so cold that they felt like I had burned them for hours after I raked. And yup, I had gloves on and everything.
I hope that you are able to scrap all of the photos from the summer but I see how busy you have been with the calendar. It is going to be a hit! This year seems the be the fastest/easiest ever for you- at least from my perspective haha!

Nancy- I really hope that your DH was able to get out of the city before the trains got back up. Some of the pictures on News12 were crazy of people packed it liked sardines upon sardines. And that was better than seeing the pics of the cars just stopped on all of the highways. The first big storm is always chaotic but this one seems to take the cake.
Sorry that you have been unwell but like T said, you have been busy with hockey pages-- I loved your Bite Me title!

Kay- ugh about the early wake-up time. Have you ever tried melatonin? I take that and there is an extended release version that seems to do the trick for me. I think the brand is Nature's Bounty.
Your son's trip must have been amazing, I can't imagine the gorgeous photos he must have. for it. Turkey is not my thing at all. But I love my mom's stuffing so I fill up on that. She makes sweet potatoes and stuffing for Caitlyn since as a vegetarian she doesn't even like to look at turkey. You know she loves her rats very much when she feeds them baby food turkey although I had to do it for her in the beginning. :p
I don't even wanna think about decorating for Christmas!!!! Finally got the last box from Halloween up in the attic 2 days ago. Once everyone is in the mood and will enjoy it. I always do
Oh no- how scary that your cousin's wife fell like that. That must have hurt.

I have a funny falling out of the attic story. Before we had the second level of the house added on, our attic was just a few pieces of plywood over the beams and you had to step *very*carefully to stay on them. One day I was in the attic, placed my foot wrong and feel through the attic "floor" and into the ceiling of the hallway. My kids- (maybe 4-6 yo at the time?) thought it was crazy that my legs were dangling from the ceiling. My DH called from work while I was trying to extricate myself and I was in tears-- from laughing so hard. It is now one of their favorite "Remember when mom fell thought through the ceiling" Story. But it hurt- I had some crazy bruises on my legs and butt :pound:

Jean- Hi there! Did you learn anything new or interesting on the DNA info? Such a cool area of knowledge. I bet you will be busy getting ready for your group talk tomorrow, good luck!
Thanks for the good wishes for Muffin. I asked Cait if she thought it was time to bring her to the vet to be euthanized. She isn't in pain and she is still content. I know that Cait would much prefer having her pass away at home where she is comfortable. And who wants to make that decision if they don't have too? :(

Rae- so proud of how disciplined you are with computer time/work/ self-care/Taz. I should have been off the computer 1/2 hour ago. But I am blabbering about nothing. Hope that you enjoyed the rest of your day and evening!

xoxo

Morning ladies... Up far to early again, but oh well I may as well be here on the computer than tossing and turning in bed. Yesterday was one of those days where I felt like I did not get one thing accomplished!! Chris I am sure you can relate LOL. No scrapping, no working on Sadie's gift. So WTH did I do?? Well I talked with Heather and Hunter, made the bed, emptied the dishwasher. That was about it LOL. The rest of the day I spent with my sister, we decided to go to Christmas Chaos craft fair. What did I buy? Nothing for Christmas, but I did purchase some of my fav soaps from Sarah's Soaps, so now I don't have to go to the Farm Market to get that. I spent far too much time on Pinterest and Amazon.ca and then I made supper. Had a fight with DH over some advice that our Son wanted and stomped off to bed early. Probably the reason I am up so early. UGH!! So now that my pouting time is over with I will try to be a bit more productive today!

Chris - OMG I am going to have to look at the news this morning about your Snow Storm!! Sounds like a bad one from what you are saying! Yikes just checked the news and wow it looks awful!! So many people trying to get home last night and all those people crammed into the Metro system! :mmph: and its only the first snowfall, sounds like more to come! I bet you are glad that everyone is home safe and sound with you! Sorry that your fingertips were so frozen, that is so painful! The doctor told me that it can be quite painful, but until you experience that type of pain, you really have no idea. If you have to shovel again, please use some of those hand warmer thingy's! Sounds like your IL's album is coming along, hope you manage a few more pages today, or get some faerywings stuff started! Good day to do it if you will be stuck in the house all day. Make the kids help you out with the meals or something so you can do what you need to do today! Really that is the only update from the Ins. fiasco?? :gaah:

Nancy - Sorry that you are not feeling like your old self! Yes sleep is important, stop staying up until all hours of the night girlfriend!! LOL I hope you are feeling better today! You have been rocking out the hockey pages, they are awesome! Sure hope everyone in your family are safe and sound and that they get to stay off the roads today. Does Luther like the snow? Hope you get to enjoy some hockey today!

Kay - I think that perhaps we need to start an up before dawn club LOL. Hope you enjoy getting your house all ready for Christmas! Unlike Chris I love, love, love turkey dinner! Can you tell I like it LOL.

Jean - You are so busy, but so nice that it with something that you enjoy so much! Hope your group talk goes well! You have made the Bohemian Rhapsody movie sounds so good, yes I would just enjoy being surrounded by all of that great music! Now I really have to go and see it!

Rae - Crazy how you had rain off and on all day, when it was so nice and sunny most of the day here on the island! I hope that your work day today goes smoothly and quickly and the you and Taz are able to get out in the fresh air for a bit today! I bet you are getting excited for your day away with J!!

Ok lots to do today, because nothing got done yesterday :mmph: Have a great day today everyone!

good morning - well the snow came and it only stopped late in the evening and then turned to rain and this morning another round of snow came through. And yes getting home was bad for both my boys. My son left around 2pm and did not walk in the door until 6pm. He called me to tell me to have the door open. He had to pee so bad. I said for a boy just pee in one of the used water bottles. He did not think that was a good idea. LOL. I think that is one of the pluses to being a boy. LOL. He is working from home today as the roads are still bad. NJ was just not prepared for early snow. My DH takes path and the NJ trains. His train was running fine with some delays but at least it is not electric with over head lines. Today there are system wide delays and cancellations so he too is home. But that is good as he and Luther are out enjoying the snow. So many of my friends had horrible commutes home and some ended up in hotels. But on a great note my Devils won again and this time on the road in Philly! My goalie had a shut out so that was awesome. They seem to be playing their game again. One of my defensemen was lost and it was even better to have a shut out with on 5 defensemen. Now my next game is Sat. which will be military appreciation day and we all get a camo baseball cap.

Chris yes the snow came and there was a lot. I was expecting a dusting. I know you don't like it but darn I sure think it is pretty. It makes me happy. But then I don't have to drive anywhere. I cant even think Christmas until Thanksgiving is decided and we have not decided what we are doing LOL. Glad everyone is safe!

Trudy so glad that you got the hike in on Wed. And wow you are up early. Thanks for the comments on my hockey pages. I love doing them. And yes there are days when I wonder what did I do. Sorry you and your MG did not agree. But at least you have your awesome soaps and will smell good.

Rae as others keep saying your time management skills are second to none. I really am jealous of your trip to see the eagles. I went to the website of the nature preserve and I bet you can find the info you need there.

Jean glad you are still having fun learning all about DNA and genealogy.

Kay that is the pits to keep waking up so early. But you can get a lot done.

Have a great day all!

Good morning, ladies. We slept in a few minutes later this morning, the power had gone off overnight for a bit which knocked the clocks and alarm clock out. The extra half hour was nice even though it means not so much time to drink coffee and read my book before starting my work day. I did manage to take a few pics of the birds on the porch as they ate their breakfast (sunflower seeds) and suet. They are so funny, as they push each other off and try to hog the seeds and then they try to sneak onto the railing from different angles. The woodpeckers ignore them fighting on the railing and happily chow down on the hanging suet overhead. So relaxing and fun to watch. I posted a few pics on my status feed on FB a few minutes ago of them.

Today I've got lots of work as my part time client is now sending me work either on Thurs or Friday and this wk its Friday so I'll be swamped with work. I'm not sure how I feel about that. On the one hand, I appreciate the litle bit extra money from working the additional day for her but on the other hand I miss the slowing down of my schedule and having a quieter day on Friday. Oh well. It is what it is. I'll manage.

Caught up on "Bull" last night and have to figure out what we'll watch on Sat night as J is going to spend the wkend with us. I want to find a new show for us to binge watch together. J and I are leaving at 7:30 tomorrow morning to head out to view the eagles. I don't know if I'll get any good pics or not b/c I don't think we get too close to them but I'll have my camera just in case. J will have binoculars to watch them. Regardless, it'll be fun day together. The boys will be home relaxing (D and Taz).

Chris - that's crazy weather! Stay warm indoors and be careful when going out.

Trudy - that's great you found your soap. Have you forgiven G yet? D can be pigheaded sometimes and I just have to walk away or I swear I'll clobber him LOL.

Nancy - glad your guys made it home and they are at home today. That's so cool that you get a cap at he game on Sat.

Everyone else, hope you are well and enjoy your day.

I'm grabbing another coffee and getting to work.

DH is out raking more leaves as we were missed by the snow. Need to keep getting ready for the meeting tomorrow.

Chris, wow, I had no idea how much snow you all got in the east. What a pain and then everyone home today to get in your hair. Not only does it get dark too early, but even the daytime seems dark. Somehow we'll get to the other side.

Trudy, sorry you were up too early and had to pout yesterday. Wishing you a much better day today. Sure hope you won't be disappointed if you see the movie.

Nancy, again, amazed by all your snow. Glad your guys made it home OK and not too awfully late. Hope you are well again and can really enjoy the hockey.

Rae, we'll be thinking of you off with J and the eagles tomorrow and I bet you'll be glad you have the camera.

Hoping to a great weekend for everyone.

I am really late getting in here to post. At least I managed to sleep in until 6AM this morning!! Whoo-whee! Of course I had to get my cup of java before I did anything. :cof3:

Feeling a bit better today. Managed to get most of the ornaments on the tree. Still have to put my velvet ribbon streamers, the angel topper and the snowflakes on it. That is going to have to wait until tomorrow tho. While I was working on it, I got a call from my sister - the one whose husband died 2 weeks ago. She will traveling to spend Thanksgiving with her son and family. She will be going through here - so she is going to spend 1-2 days with me early next week before going to their place [another 2 hours from here]. Then got 3 more phone calls... so lost my momentum to finish the tree. So jumped on the net and discovered that I had 5 LOs to get done before Monday. Got 2 done and got 2 more notices about LOs needed! Managed to get 2 more of them done so think I manage to finish them all before sister arrives..

Oh, WOW... didn't know about the big snowstorms hitting the east coast! Hope everyone is okay. Remember how bad those storms could be when we lived on Long Island.. Hopefully it will be better next week when so many will be traveling to the holiday.
