TGIFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The good news is that I am feeling much better than I did last week. Whew! Still tired/funky and as I just said to scott, I have been "jumpy" little things are setting me off/startling me. BUT-- its better than it was, so I am running with it!

:crutch:

Ok, maybe not running, but at least I am not as mopey and cranky. LOL

My mom emailed me yesterday to tell me she loved me. I called her right back, and we talked it out. It turned out that after all that, my brother *was* invited to Father's Day at my IL's, which is what i thought would be the case.
I adore my mom in so many ways, but she has a tendency to hold stuff against others and watch and jump to conclusions. If that makes sense. I am more of a "let it roll off your back" girl (aside from my family not helping me- that does not roll, that sticks like super glue). So if she feels like someone ever slighted her and/or her kids ever in the entirety of history, she tends to assume that will happen again. I feel like I have coddled her enough and I have better things to be worried about and I forget thather her-- this is huge.
Its funny, I think she has only hung up on me once before in my life and that shocked me more than anything!!

But we talked, and she is coming up and we are going out to lunch. So all is well with the world. :D

I am so happy to not be working today and to not have to sit in my house either! Yipeee!

Caitlyn is so happy to be coming home tonight. She says she is bored out of her mind. That they spend more time on the bus then anything. Annnnd- I heard that the hotel has bedbugs! Argh!!!

Does anyone have good tips on how to get rid of them if she has brought any home? My friend called the hotel and they said it was only one room, but how the heck would they know unless one of the kids reported it? I don't dare ask cait- she will freakout, so I am going on the assumption that everything is going to have to be cleaned.

enough about me, its now time for more coffee.....
Be back in a few for personals!

she has a tendency to hold stuff against others and watch and jump to conclusions.

Oh, this could be you talking about my mom! She can tell things people did to her back in the 50's or 60's, still holding a grudge. She just don't forget and forgive LOL

Right now I'm waiting for my sis to get here from work. We're going to mom and dad's, to talk about what they need help with before the house sale. Then it's the traditional grocery shopping Friday.

No plans for the weekend. I think I'll stick to lazy this week too

Eva- i think everyone needs a Pity Day once in a while. Glad you are feeling better today. I hope that the mtg is a good wake up call to your DS. I sure sounds like he is off to a good start.
Hee hee- the Sopranos! I am glad my family is not that "exciting!" I have a picture somewhere of the 4 of us sitting in a booth at the ice cream parlor where Tony sat in the last episode. I wonder where it is? Or whose computer it is on? Hhhmmmm....
Goodlkuck with the weight loss, I am surely the wrong person to talk too, since my advice/experience is to develop anorexia.
This is funny in a sick sort of way. I was talking to my BFF, who also has a history of eating disorders, the other day. I told her I am so aggravated that I cannot lose the 5-10 lbs I would love to lose. Then I said I am too old to starve myself any more. Its just too tiring. All of my "good" tricks to lose weight don't work any more. I guess that it good right?

Continued good thoughts for your doggie, Laurie. I think it is a good thing you moved the appt to Sat. No way should anyone have to make that kind of decision alone. I truly hope he is one the mend!

Phyllis- your mom sounds like mine- not good with conflict, tires to hard to make everyone happy which only results in more people being unhappy.
I promise to never hang up on you! :D
I find that I can't handle crowds at all either- I refuse to even go to a mall on a weekend- anywhere on a weekend. ;)
How did the plastic guy go? my brother was talking about that since they need to replace their deck- the no maintenance sounds like a great deal! And you'd be saving trees. (I am assuming that plastic is all recycled..... heheh!)

squishy hugs back to my Nana!!!!
Guess what? My printer works again. I unplugged it from the strip it was in, plugged it into a new strip- and it turned on, woo hoo!
There has got to be an easier way to deal with all of the cords and cables under my desk, it was amusing to see me hanging off and crawling under my desk trying to figure which freaking cord when where! hahahah!
Now if i could only get Mama Bear to bring back our garbage can....

Did Mike ever find out what will take sharpie off the deck?

I gotta get going, and get scott to the bus. I'll try to catch up with the rest of you ladies soon!!!

xoxo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FIRST THINGS FIRST....

I looked up about what to do about the bed bugs...I AM DYING HERE NOW!! THE THOUGHT JUST HORRIFIES ME!!!

I found this (this was a topic about your kid coming home from college, as it is common for the dorms to have them)

When Your Child Arrives Home from College – Keep the Bed Bugs Out of Your Home

Don't let your child bring his belongings in the house and unpack. Take time to inspect and clean everything first. If you have a garage or outdoor shed, that's a great place to unpack and inspect his things before they are allowed in the house.
  • Any and all items that can be laundered, whether they need it or not, should go right into the washing machine. Wash everything on the highest temperature allowable for the fabric. Then be sure to dry everything on the highest heat possible for at least 30 minutes.
  • Books and other items that can't be easily laundered or cleaned can be placed in a freezer to kill any hidden bed bugs. Leave them sealed in plastic bags when you put them in the freezer. You don’t want bed bugs wandering around in your fridge! This is only practical if the items can stay in the freezer for at least 5 days, however. Any bed bugs eggs can remain viable for several days.
  • Bed bugs can hide inside laptops and other electronics. Inspect these carefully before bringing them inside the house. On most laptops, you can remove the keyboard to check underneath.
  • Check the lining and seams of any backpacks or bags. Bed bugs like to hide in the folds, seams, and pockets, and can get under the lining if there's a tear. If you have a steam cleaner, you can treat backpacks and other similar items with steam.
  • Any hard items can be wiped down, and should be inspected for bed bugs as you clean them.

SO DO NOT BRING ANYTHING INSIDE THE HOUSE SHE HAS WITH HER!!!! AND HAVE CLOTHES WAITING FOR HER TO CHANGE INTO!!!! TAKE NO CHANCES..BECAUSE IF YOU GET THESE, OMG...YOU WILL HAVE A HORRID TIME GETTING RID OF THEM!!! I HAVE HEARD HORROR TALES FROM PEOPLE WHO GOT THEM...IT'S LIKE A NIGHTMARE THAT NEVER ENDS...AND YOU HAVE ENOUGH ALREADY

Going to get some coffee....I am enjoying the peace and quiet...I could be sleeping in....but I was cold this morning...strange!!! But I like to get up early sometimes and enjoy the quiet!!

Oh and if any of you want to feel sorry for me today..go ahead....my baby is 29 yo today!! WTH?????? HOW DID THAT HAPPEN???????

hahaa! Nana, My baby turned 31 last month.... :faint: and, dear person, i LOVE reading your posts. your personality just leaps right off the page!

Chris, there were bedbugs in the room next to my daughter's apartment when she was in college. They had to move out into another apartment way across town (provided by the company which owned the bedbug infested building,), put all their belongings in sealed plastic bags for weeks while the apartment managers replaced all the furniture and called in exterminators.. it was a nightmare. don't let ANYTHING in the house when DD gets home. have her put all her clothes into garbage bags and seal them. do what Nana said. don't let them even get a tiny foothold, or it'll be horrible. and look online for what bedbug bites look like. honestly, this is why i HATE staying in hotels anymore. no matter how good the hotel, there's always a chance that you're coming home with hitch hikers. globalization, my A%$! i'm sick and tired of all this crap making its way back into the country.

Kristy, i hope you have some pig wrestling photos! that really made me laugh!

and i'm glad, Chris, that your Mom called and made up. i can realate a little to her attitude, though. it's hard not to get riled up when you believe someone has slighted one of your own. it must be a mom thing. i do this odd thing where i forgive, but i NEVER forget. and i think i forgive (or at least am not "actively" angry) because it's so much WORK holding an active grudge. like with my younger sister. she once said something about my son that was so unimaginable, insensitive and mean and outrageous that i will NEVER forget it. never. i'm not actively angry at her. i have just forgotten HER. in my mind, she's like a non-person who i never think about. scary thing i can do.:twitch:

window washer coming today. and i really have to do SOMETHING BIG! maybe the art and natural history museum. this entire MEEEE week has been a bust, unless you include the restfulness of it. i have gotten almost 8 hours of sleep EVERY NIGHT, which is totally rare and unique. i did watch a few totally BAAAAD movies that i had wanted to see. Do NOT rent "John Carter," even if you're a sciFi fan like me.

happy Friday!

Good morning O people!!

Glad Friday has arrived. It has been a busy week, but a good week! Started some new exercise classes and have met some very nice people this week. Went to dinner with the neighbor group. We try to get together once a month and sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't so was nice to catch up with a number of them.

Chris, safe travels for your daughter and hope she leaves those critters behind.

Eva, enjoy your weekend and hope you get to relax!

Nana- Where did that 29 years go! It's amazing isn't it! Happy Birthday to your 'baby!'

Phylis- Hope the rest of your ME week works out for you. Window washing does not seem like something that should be on a ME list!! Happy day, lady!!

FYI-plugging the AnnaLift here this week because it is 'faery' important for you to check this one out!!!!

Enjoy your day all!

:faint:

Thank you for the info (I think! LOL)

I am running a load of our laundry right now so that first thing tomorrow I can run everything of hers on Sanitary Setting. I'll leave clothes for her in the bathroom downstairs and she can strip down right as soon as she gets home. Everything else can sit outside for the night. If anyone sees a bear wearing a hot pink bra and some kooky knee socks, you know that they took her suitcase away too.

How am I going to tell my mom that I am keeping her suitcase that Cait borrowed b/c of bedbugs?? My mom will throw the suitcase out. I am not saying a word. :tape:

I found a dead tick inmy laundry room just now, and that has me all itching and crawling. And in 12 hours I get to deal with itching and crawling from bed bugs. It almost makes me wish it was lice- they seem asier to get rid of than bedbugs....

nana-- happy birthday to your baby!!! However I have seen pics of you and you do NOT look any older than that yourself! And 35 lbs overweight? Yeah, I don't think so. Again- I have seen pictures and I know better than that!!

Phyllis- isn't it just wonderful when Nana posts here? She always makes me smile with al of that energy and love and fun.

ack, I have to post this now, I have 200000000 thinbgs going on, and I can't concentrate!!!

*collects my thoughts*

Where was I??

I have no idea, but what I do know is that I am no longer a competent multi-tasker :pound:

Donna- I just saw the thread!!! Thank you so much, what an absolute honor!!!
Sounds like you had a very nice week!

Phyllis- I hope you hget to enjoy a museum or soemthing similar. I little tip I picked up that would have shared earlier if I had thought of it.... but anyway-- find out when the museum/zoos/exhibits has late hours and then go after 3 pm. All of the schools will have cleared out by then and you can actually relax and stroll through. I have never been able to do that myself but we were at Liberty Science Center a couple of years ago and several of the "curators" told us that for future use.
Even if you do not get to do anything-- the 8 hours of sleep and no stress is so important too. Sometimes we get so wrapped up in the "things I should do list" we forget sometimes "not doing" is just as if not more important.

eva- glad its not just my mom LOL Enjoy the lazy!!

morning all - except for the cut paycheck, I could get used to fridays off! I have had my walk, and now I am planning on moving my craft crap back to the basement to sort- wanted to avoid that, but have procrastinated so long- it needs to be in one space. MMG will be moving some of ds stuff home tomorrow, and will check his bed for the evil bugs before moving it back. We have to go to the bank today to sign over car to ds the elder. I am at the mercy of MMG to know when that will happen- even when you ask specifically all you get is a "we don't have to be there when the bank opens" answer. GRRRRRR.

eva- glad its not just my mom LOL

I almost laughed out loud at mom's today. We have 2 different banks in our town, and now - because of the house sale - dad has decided to switch bank. Mom said then he had to handle all bank errends cuz she'll never set her foot in that other bank. When we asked why, she started on a story when someone (not even herself) had wanted to lend money in that bank, and gotten bad treatment ... in the 80's.

Morning ladies... TGIF!! Running late as ususal so no time to post my long novel in here today LOL. Now that I have read through everyone's posts I am itching and scratching too!! Hope everyone here has a great Friday and I will catch up with all of you later today!

Laurie, i once made a page with a conversation on it that i had with my husband, trying to get him to answer WHAT TIME we were leaving to go visit his brother. it was so preposterous that i had to get it down on paper. men. honestly.

lessons I should know by now- when you take a paid day off for work- do not answer the phone when it tells you it is work calling- apparently the ipad is missing and people need it. Well I put it away before I left on wednesday and now it is friday. Did they find it- don't know cause if they did, they didn't bother to let me know. I am in my swimsuit and getting eaten alive by biting flies- getting ready to head to the hot tub to scrub the grub out of it and then refill it. While it is refilling I am going to paint my toenails royal blue to match my suit. I am going to scrap, upload layouts and look forward to MMG coming home- he has promised to turn his work phone off for an entire evening- well tomorrow! Oh grrr- just looked out the window and the neighbor 1 field over is kicking up a dust storm- I need to get the tub filled and covered- such a rough life, I know!!

Evening all...

I miss being here and when I get back, it's all BUGGY! fortunately, I don't have bedbugs but the back deck has lots of little midgy flies. We ate outside tonight and Dick is always the one that the flies and mosquitoes gravitate too. I went back out to read and the pesky little ones got Me! Of course, I was under a peach tree so...

Other than that, life is good and I am absolutely adoring this mild summer weather we're still having. Un-be-lieve-able.

Hugs!
