Happy Friday! How are the O-zies today?

I had a better day yesterday than I had in the days prior. My head felt like it was in the right direction again. Maybe a bit off-track here and there, but overall I was better. I cleaned downstairs, vacuumed, moved the stove to get underneath (ick). I always feel better when there is less clutter.
Cait and I played with the rats and we looked at old photos of Clover and Muffin. They were so cute and funny, a real Dynamic Duo. ha! The day ended with Caitlyn making up Samoa Cookie Martinis for us. Caramel vodka, creme de cacao, cream of coconut, and milk. Really good but needs to be sipped *slowly.* Scott and Caitlyn were joking at dinner how they took a few sips quickly and felt it. Me too!:dizzy:

I don't have too much to do today, some laundry, dishes, that kind of stuff. It looks beautiful outside so I will most likely be out there for a while too. The humidity is way down. Ray is much better so I don't have to worry about taking her to the vet today. Tonight, we have a Mario Cart tournament on tap! Yeah, I am looking forward to a good day. :D

Wishing all of you a great day too!

Trudy! I am so excited for you to get your hair done! :whoo: How does it feel?? Light and springy? Tell us so we can live vicariously through you. Details!! I want details!
The hike sounds like it was a good choice for the first one back. Did it feel strange to talk to other people again?
Thanks for the sweet comments about me and the kids. I try really hard to be a good mom but I guess part of that is recognizing when you mess up. Not always an easy thing to do.

Nancy- Even though I wake up early, I still feel like I waste so much time just doing nothing. But hey-- at least you knew what you were cooking for dinner. Luther pulled a Jaida. That is when she stops walking and refuses to budge past that spot.
Wow! That is crazy how long the package took to arrive. That gives me hope for my kids, they ordered trilobites when quarantine first started and they still haven't gotten here.
if you play Cards against Humanity with your kids, you might want to screen out some of the cards- there are ones that my kids took out of play for us for being way too graphic for us old folks. I think they are getting me an expansion pack for my b-day and said that they will have to do the same thing again. ;)
Looks like NJ is on the right track with opening up. I think Murphy is going to be on top of it if cases start to increase.
I read an article yesterday about how a woman and her DD went from DC to Utah this month and went shopping and how they freaked out. They went from social distancing and masks too - I think she wrote like "right before Christmas." They panicked and left and I think I would do the same. I *know* I would do the same.

Kay- Great news that you are feeling better and sleeping better! Oh my! That is funny about the car!

Felis- I hear ya, I need the sun to dry things up a bit before I work in the yard today.
I haven't heard of either of those books but am very happy that you enjoyed them and they made you think of your own grandparents.
Isn't that fab news about Jeanette and Angel. That makes me so happy!
I figured you would like the socks-- see why your LO reminded me of them? 17 pounds is a big cat and she had teeny tiny feet that we couldn't understand how they held her up *giggles* We looked at pictures of her yesterday too, I know I always complained about but I miss her. She was a good cat even when she tried to smother me in my sleep.
I am seeing the same thing with corporations here with "activism." When I was paying bills online yesterday, they all had some bland statements about how they support the Black Lives Matter movement. Sure that is great, then do something about it. Make sure that your companies are led by a diverse group of people, pay your workers a living wage, and don't discriminate. I get the frustrations you are having. I hope that you are feeling better about it all today.

I am off to get some breakfast and more coffee. HAGD!! xoxo

The heat has abated, it's sunny and we're going birding. Just hope the car won't get too warm as we found the AC isn't working. The dealer's shop has us on the "critical" list for the needed piece of equipment, but no telling when one might be available Tomorrow there are about three virtual genealogy functions I want to attend. One at 9:30 and another at noon might both be possible. Meanwhile I've been busy tracking down the family of one person in an extended family I want to write about. I hadn't known what happened to her after 1850 until recently and now I've got tons of stuff. Last night found data that might make an outlier of info (a one-time birthplace mention of Mississippi for her husband, a man born in one of the Carolinas) make sense. A family of the surname, maybe his parents, did move from South Carolina to Mississippi around the right time. Some of the connections make even my head swim.

Chris, nice that you had a better day! Hope today is a repeat of that.

Nancy, what did you think of the latest Genetic Detective? I missed the episode last week but thought this week's was pretty good. Having nice memories of when my DH had his cataract surgeries hearing about yours.

Time to go now...
Have a good weekend!

good morning - a gorgeous day with blue skies so that means the humidity has totally dropped. My DH took Luther out early so I will wait until the evening. No cooking today not sure what to do about dinner but may have to support one of our local restaurants. Not much else on the agenda. Some good news on the hockey front - seems like training camps will start again for the playoffs around July 10 if all states are in phase 3 by then. Small groups of players are now allowed at arenas or practice arenas.

Chris glad you are feeling more centered. That drink sounds yummy even if potent. How fun to look back at photos and be happy! My son did say that the questions in that card game could be pretty bad but I am think like your kids they would know not to go to far with me playing at least the first time. Enjoy the sun!

Jean glad the heat has gotten better. Yes I did enjoy this last episode of the Genetic Detective because she did not give them the correct person first. And I loved that it showed just how much waiting around there is in police work. But it also shows do not through away used cups, bottles or cigarette butts. I am sure you are much more attuned to how she does the genealogy part. I like the more matching of DNA as I did DNA work in labs. Have fun at your virtual meetings!

Trudy I am sure that with your Gary taking the day off you two will be busy bees finishing the kitchen. Have fun!

Kay so glad the new meds are helping cut down the cough. So nice to not have to wake up many times during the night.

Felis glad things are drying out. That is a big kitty!

Late getting in here again today. Got a phone message yesterday from the library that another one of my hold books was ready. I screen my calls with caller ID and didn't recognize the number. Had to wait until 10 AM this morning to call them back. Got an appointment for noon so had just enough time to get my shower/shampoo and make it over there. I have 2 more books in the hold list... both are for new books and both are 'in processing' so should be getting calls on them soon. Just picked up Troublemaker by Linda Howard. Should be a fast read so I can take it back once I get the call to pick up the next hold book. I also picked up a couple of free books while I was there only to discover that I already have both of them in my collection. Will take them back and put them on the free rack for someone else to get.

Chris... I would knocked on my kister if I even sipped that lethal combo of liquor!!! Hope you didn't have a hangover today! LOL over your kids removing some cards from the deck due to being too racy for you!!!

Jean, so glad you found more info on the extended family. Yes, it is always a challenge to find if a trace is really referring to the family.

Trudy, I know you will be happy to have the kitchen re-do finished and great that your DH can be off to help you.

Nancy, I know you are so happy about the hockey play-offs starting soon. Nice that you are having some good weather too.

Need to decide on what to do about dinner tonight... not in the mood to cook and don't want to have go out to get a carry-out either. <<< sigh >>> May look in the freezer to see if I have any frozen I had made. Worse comes to worse... I could always have some cereal now that I have milk again. Not sure what happened but noticed that the price of bananas jumped about 50% more than they had been 2 weeks ago.
