Hey there, Happy Friday!
I am so happy that the weather has been so mild for the most part. Maybe the heating oil bill will be less than it has been for the next billy cycle. (Guess what I had to pay yesterday? It's been awful!) It's 40* right now and it's not even past sunrise. Looks like it will get colder next week but not terribly so.

I called my mom yesterday and I wish I could cheer her up. I just let her talk for almost an hour, she desperately needs someone to listen to her. A lot of the things she was aggravated at by my dad were things he was doing to *help* her though. She wants help but only on her terms. So I gently tried to show her that but not sure how successful I was. He should also know that if she is in the middle of doing something, that isn't the best time to offer to help with something different. You'd think that after 52 years of marriage, they would have figured it out by now.
Basically, the same conversation I have had with her for years myself...
They are coming up here on Sunday for her birthday so I will be sure to make a fuss. I scrapped a page of Scott and Sam for the Tic Tac Toe challenge and I am going to order a TilePix from Walgreens with it. Last Christmas I made her a set of TilePix with Los of Cait and Tom, me and Gary, and Scott and LL. This one will replace that one (barf). I just have to upload it and then pick it up tomorrow. As long as it's something of her grandkids, she will love it.

Today is going to be cleaning up here a little more and some scrapping. I feel like I have a tiny bit of mojo hanging around, might as well use it!

Wishing you a great day!

@LSlycord Haha, here I am rejoicing that it is 40* and you have summer weather, I gotta move to FL :D
Did you and Syd get haircuts? LOL at Shaun complaining about school- there is a comfort in the routine, right? *G*
I have no idea what cribbage is (card game??) but if you are in a nursing home, I will bet that Syd will love to play with you when she visits. :D

@BrightEyes Ugh! That stinks about scrapping a page and then messing up the requirements. BTDT
You are a very organized person- and I know you'll laugh at this-- Caitlyn was *very* excited to get a package last night. When she opened it up, she was practically dancing around. Do you want to guess what it was? Nope, nothing for her rats. Nothing spooky. It was a 6-pack of different colored Post It Notes. The smaller size ones since she was running through the regular size ones quickly. This girl loves to be organized and color-coordinated, she would admire your file folder system. Hahaha!

@vickyday I hate shopping, I am a "get me in and out as quick as possible" person. My mom can spend hours in Home Goods looking at dishes. She and Ilene would have a blast
What a sweet dress pattern, what color yarn are you going to use?
Thankfully, both of my kids want to stay within easy driving distance (~an hour) from us. Their jobs are close (40 minutes) to us too. The main thing is going to be what they can afford which ATM is nothing. :( I saw a 3 BR apt listed for $2900 a month.
OMG! What a memory of hide and seek!! I would have been screaming too! LOL! Scott used to hide in the one kitchen cabinet and one time Caitlyn climbed into the laundry hamper. Kids are soooo funny!
The plans for the cabin are delightful!

@bcgal00 that parmesan spread sounds really good, I bet you can use it on roasted potatoes and veggies too. That's really cheap for cauliflower, less than a scraggly head of iceberg lettuce here. Can that be cooked and frozen?

@Cherylndesigns Ohhh that stinks that Adrienne and Ava had to go back to work, I hope things settle down for them soon. It had been quiet on campus between finals in Dec and yesterday started new student orientations so Cait is hitting that part too.
Spoons is a very dangerous game. Vicious is a good word for it bwahaha
Thx for the suggestion for my mom to talk to Cait. I know that Cait would love to help but she (my mom) doesn't like to take any advice. Caitlyn is like me and gets frustrated when my mom throws up every excuse in the book. :(

Eva, hope that your ear is feeling a little better by now

Thought I'd pop in real quick to say "Hello." I was so glad to see the back end of last year! OMGosh! I never want to go through another few months like the past few; almost lost my apartment, had my bank card stolen online, and nearly cleaned out my bank account before I could do any Christmas shopping, etc., etc. (Money has since been returned.)

I think last month was the first time I've not been able to complete all my O team requirements. But, like you Chris, my mojo seems to be back right now so I'm scrapping as much as I can to make up for lost time, and in case the mojo takes another hike. :)

Chris, we're having a heat wave right now. It's 28 this morning, but beats the 4 degrees I got up to a couple weeks ago! :)

Also, Chris, I love your new page of Scott and Sam. They are adorable. I'm sure your mom will love the TilePix for her birthday.

Good morning all! I finally got a new avatar. I might need to improve that a bit but it's better than my Christmas ornament so it works for now. I got my haircut yesterday. Syd said she wanted a day where she didn't need to leave the house so she stayed home and I got mine cut short. We are back to colder weather...it was 49 when I came out to the lanai but Brian has the fire going so it's pretty warm and it's already up to 54*. Only going to 67* today so a little chilly but highs in the 60's and 70's for the next couple of months...I like that!

Hayden got groomed yesterday...she had so many mats that we just told them to shave her down. They really got away from me this time! Today I'm going to try to figure out how to get most of the boxes back in the closet  and the boxes with the photos at the front.

Food trucks are in the neighborhood tonight...my favorite truck (Paris Crepes) so no need to plan for supper. That's a very good thing!

@Betty Jo I am so sorry to hear how badly 2022 ended for you. That was a huge amount of stress. I hope that 2023 goes much better from beginning to end! So very glad to see you back here!

@faerywings good morning. Sounds like a neat gift for your mom and yes, she will certainly LOVE anything with her grandkids. Hope that she enjoys her birthday celebration on Sunday!

@BrightEyes I hate the thought of getting financial folders organized. Ours is fairly straight forward now but need to wait for 1099's to arrive. I plan to be ready to send it off just as soon as we get those documents... Hope you got another good night of sleep last night!

@vickyday the most I do with the ocean now is wade in to my knees...but both kids like to jump in and body surf. LOL Your time with your kids sounds like so much fun...love the story about the bathtub! I do hope that my two don't move to different parts of the country...but I guess that could happen!

@bcgal00 my mom was my best friend. You and Jen remind me of how we spent time together. Glad you found the cauliflower...don't understand it but I'm glad that you found it!

@Cherylndesigns I hadn't thought about spoons for a long time! I loved that game...and we would literally fight over those spoons! I agree with how crowded it gets at the beach. It was really nice on Wednesday and Syd and I talked about how empty it was and how much we liked that!

Have a good day ladies!

Morning, gals. Had another 'not so good' night. Kept waking up - going from hot to cold to hot again! Finally gave up at 5 AM and got up. It is always a challenge about what to wear when the body keeps swinging back and forth like that. Waiting for the house to warm up so I can get my shower. Good news yesterday was my BP was finally back down into the 'normal' range... it had been elevated all during the holiday time. I have been trying to stay busy and/or keep my mind occupied since mid-Dec until after this weekend.. the anniversary of DH's death. It is always a stressful time for me so not surprised the BP was up during that time. Hope it stays down as I see the primary care doc the end of the month. Hoping I won't need an increase in BP meds. So glad that I am able to scrap more as that keeps my mind occupied while I work on new LOs. I did make a list of LOs for DH's album that need to be printed but will wait to do that until later on. I decided to not start on scanning photos for awhile... give my body a chance to settle down from the stress.

Today's agenda is to get the laundry sorted and do as much of it as I can. Need to pick up some groceries - out of milk for the past week and need some fresh fruit and veggies. I hate to go to the grocery store on the weekends as it is usually more crowded then. No need to cook tonight... I made breakfast burrito yesterday and have enough for tonight. Scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, green chili and cheddar cheese in a large flour tortilla. Oh... so yummy! DH used to bring these "walking burritos" home from the golf course for us to enjoy.

Sorry no personals today... the mind is doing its squirrel cage thing.

Good morning ladies. A quick hello from me b/c I need to get on the phone with the government to change my address and bank deposit info for my pension. We still have our old bank in Vancouver where it gets deposited and then we have to transfer over, its such a PITA. So, D changed his yesterday and now I'm going to go do mine.

@faerywings Your poor mom. Hope the visit this wkend is good for her and cheers her up.

@LSlycord I like short hair, its just so convenient.

Quiet day ahead, scrapping, cleaning, dog park...same old (but I love it). HAGD

Good afternoon.

It's up to 54 today - yay. I'm so ready for it to warm up - the sixties, last week, sure was nice.

The excitement around here is that I got a new phone! Mine started acting up last night. I've had it since the 11 PRO's first came out. Anyway, it went into some weird mode last night and we couldn't get it out. We took it to the phone store, this am and they fixed it, so I could use it for a trade-in. I had secretly been wanting the 14 PRO but hadn't really planned on getting it this soon. Ha! They had one left in the store, and it had my name on it. Hahaha It has the 3 different lenses on it, like my 11 PRO did.

Chris @faerywings and Linda @LSlycord you both know how to play spoons! How fun was that game, anyway? Aside from the rolling around on the floor, fighting over a spoon. Somebody always wanted to play when we all got together at Mom and Dad's.

Chris @faerywings I was hoping I'd hit on something with your mom and Cait. It was just a thought. I don't know about your family, but mine has always "handled" a lot of things with humor. We have been known to laugh inappropriately many times. I know other people think we're very strange. It's gotten us through a lot of hard times, though.

Linda @LSlycord you were lucky that you got to the beach on a slow day. There aren't many of the in the winter.

Kay @BrightEyes you do such a wonderful job of keeping your mind busy especially during this difficult time of the year. You're my role model in case I have to face that, too. i love that you cook such yummy meals for yourself, too. I DO think about this because Chuck's quite a bit older than me. I'd probably live on cottage cheese and yogurt.

Betty Jo @Betty Jo it's so nice to see you pop in - gosh, it's wonderful to see you looking forward to a new year. Hugs to you!

Hugs to everybody else and have a good Friday (I have to keep reminding myself what day it is. LOL)

Good Evening!
Quick in and out as I am worn out after a day of cleaning and organizing! DH helped me earlier by helping me to hang some picture frames......some new and some that had fallen off the wall after 4 years of 3M stickies.

Getting ready for our Christmas family gathering next weekend. Taking one room at a time, LOL!

Also did laundry and then had to run to the grocery store and dollar store.

Now I'm home, have some banana bread and decaf coffee waiting on me, and I may do some scrapping, or crocheting, or both.....who knows!

Have a great evening!

Yes, I went from an iPhone 11 pro to the new IPhone 14 Pro. The store did a great job of transferring all my stuff, but I've had some hassles getting into mobile apps. I can't get into my Google Photo App currently. UGH (Vicky, the pro cameras, starting with the 11 and now the 14, have 3 different camera lenses on them!)

Well, I have been feeling a bit low lately. Probably cuz I'm tired of not feeling 100% healthy. But today has been a good day, hardly noticed my ear at all. (Crossing fingers!)

Veganuary is going well. Been trying some new food items & cooked some really nice meals. I realized biggest problem was my brain kept thinking in terms of "good" and "bad" food from a WeightWatcher perspective. Not working. Feels like I need to eat more often (but smaller portions) now when I'm eating vegan. Not sure if that's a thing, or if it's just me.

Started yet another yarn project today. I mean, why not? Only have about 234566643325 ones already. Just look at this poncho:
So beautiful in it's simplicity. I'm making it in a simple gray acrylic yarn. Looks like it will be really nice.

Well, back to knitting & iZombie. Not the best show there is, but it's ok. At least I have company while knitting.
