Yikes!!!!! It is brutal out there! Wind chills are hitting -25*! I hate to think of how much pressure our furnace is under and how much oil we are burning. At one point yesterday, Gary turned the heat up and the oil burner didn't kick on. It was a terrifying few minutes waiting for it to do that while we were hoping that it hadn't given out.
We ended up getting way more snow that was predicted- probably around 8" but it is blowing around so much that we couldn't keep the driveway cleared. The roads were really bad too so I was glad that no one had to go anywhere.
My neighbor's Dr appt was canceled so he asked me to come today instead. It is easier for me to clean when he isn't home although we usually are able to make it work. So I am going to do that this afternoon.

I got a tiny bit of work done. I put away another couple of boxes of Christmas decorations and paid a few bills. Shredded some old health insurance paperwork from 2016 ;)
Brendan came to our house when he first job let him out early. He waited here until the plows came through. We ended up playing the Fake News Headline game and it was more fun with more people and Scott has the same wicked sense of humor as Cait and Gary. I am glad the kids got something good from Gary since they got their height, curly hair, and oily skin from me. haha!!

I have to clean my kitchen this morning and mop the floor really good. W had been doing great with no accidents but I guess no one really wanted to take her outside often enough and she had an accident in the kitchen right before dinner. Gary had just taken her outside and she pooped but didn't pee and I can't blame him for not wanting to stay out there any longer.

My mom called again to tell me more about the food and the keys and the door locking if it blows closed and if the roads are bad to not worry that my dad will be ok if they don't make it up and not to feel obligated and oh yes, they won't have any bread and there are potstickers in the freezer but they are not in a box so she wants them to know what they are if they want to eat them but they need to go in the oven and......

(This is a very accurate recreation of a conversation with my mom. Now you know where I get my Gift of Gab from :pound: )

I am going to post this now and re-wrap myself in my blankets.
Stay warm and dry and happy, my lOves!

(Does that sound like a diaper commercial? Or is it just me? :p )

My hands are soooo cold!!! My toes are too and I am not a Happy Faery when I am cold. My Reynaud's Syndrome gets very painful when it is even slightly cold, but man, it is going to be a tough day.

Felis- I like how you framed your kitty! Hope that you were able to get everything done in the afternoon that you needed to. We looked into solar panels a few years ago, but our roof faces east and west and you need one to face South to get enough consistent sunlight. I am glad that the storm didn't hit you.

Trudy- See, that is what I do too. I only plan on doing a little bit of un-decorating and then I can stop, I want it all gone immediately. Glad that you made it to the salon on time.
Oh yeah, it's "cute" how my mom worries. hahaha!!!!! I try not to worry that much and for the most part, I am ok. I know that I will be looking at the clock when I expect them to get to the house and call to let me know they got there. I even did the same when Brendan headed home from here. I guess that never goes away. But I am not worried about the kids not having enough food. Even if they ran out of food in the house (which they won't!!), there is a pizza place that delivers. LOL
Moral support from Mom is a good thing to give to Heather and the boys.

Rae- hope that the printer issues are all over with. What phone did you decide to go with?

Jean- how sweet to see the bunny outside at the feeder. That is a good reminder to me to toss some of the crackers and veggies out the animals to snack if they need. We crack up when we watch the squirrels take off with the food.

Nancy- hope that you are feeling better today.

BIG hugs ladies!! xoxoxo

good morning and it is so cold. It was 9 when I got up and wow it is now 11. I feel bad for my puppy as he is a bit cooped up. Yesterday was a blizzard in my area with us getting over 12 inches of blowing snow. My DH took Luther out and they had such a good time. Luther was so happy just jumping and running. My son was able to log in remotely to his work so that was great but this am his is back at work. For my DH the University is closed so he too is home. I finally think I am getting better. But it has taken too long. My poor Devils - so far they have had 3 games taken from them by refs and then the last game I think they just were down. In the first game they score and the linesmen take minutes to finally say he was offside, then in the second game with the game 3-1 the Caps score with 6 players on the ice and no penalty (of course this cannot be reviewed) and then in the third game again it takes the linesmen over 5 min to decide my player was offside even though he had control of the puck. Such a joke. As much as you can tell your team that the bounces will go your way it is hard. They don't play again until Sunday so I hope they figure it out.

I will wave to all and say thanks for the soup and hugs. I think they worked.

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... Thinking of all of you in the path of the horrible blast of winter! The East Coast of Canada is in for it today also, hope everyone can dig out and keep warm! We are having rain :rain: which is far better than a Bomb Cyclone!! Well I got all my cleaning done yesterday and the only thing I have left to do is to take down the crib and put DD's old bedroom back to how it was. I love Christmas, but am always happy to have my house back to normal again. The only thing better would be to have the kids living much closer so I could go and help them out. Oh well this is our life and we must accept the way things are. Sad as it is. So I finally got a page done yesterday for the Inspiration challenge and will post it this morning. It was nice to finally just sit down and scrap a bit and today I hope to do more! Then a lot of catching up here at the O as I have not been a good CheeryO and am way behind in my commenting in the gallery! :sorry:

Chris - Ugh sounds like you and Nancy are really getting hit with this winter storm system! It must be so awful to have cold hands and feet! I know that since I have lost all my weight I very easily get cold now and have to bundle up a lot more than I used to. Big heavy cowl necked sweaters are my best friend right now! I guess moral support for Heather and the boys is all I can do for right now. Perhaps I will have to make another trip out there to give her a hand at some point, she wants to come home for the summer so after our trip to Paris I guess I will have to fly out and bring her home for the rest of the summer. She will need to get away by then, unless they are fortunate enough to finally get into a bigger place this spring. Keep warm under those blankets my Faery friend!!

Nancy - So glad to hear that you are starting to feel better! Was it the flu or a really bad cold? Either way I hear that both are very bad this winter! Lots of hand washing here, I don't want to get that darn flu and have already had the cold! Still feeling the effects of the cold every once in a while and should try to use my nettie pot to clear my sinuses a bit more. That really sucks about the officiating for your Devils!! It is so very obvious that the refs are playing favourites and I wish that there was something that would be done about it! Hopefully your Devils will brush it off and get back to winning despite the bad officiating!

Rae - You will have to let us know which phone you decided to go with. I love my iPhone but to get the newer ones is just too darn expensive! My son used to be a die hard iPhone lover but has switched over to an Android and says he will never go back. I keep my iPhone so that I can FaceTime with DD and the kids, but I suppose we could always Skype instead. Hope that you don't have anymore printer problems, its so frustrating when our tech stuff does not work!! :frusty:

Jean - Oh I am loving your new AVI!! I really have to change mine soon! Yes I was a very busy woman yesterday, but it is so nice to have it all done! We picked up the car after DH got home from work yesterday, it is like brand new again and the best part is that we didn't have to pay for it. It was a bit of an inconvenience and it is sad that it got damaged in the first place, but it would have been so much worse if we were out of pocket for the Insurance deductible ! Especially since now we have to look for a new washer and dryer :gaah: its always something!! LOL

:hello: to you felis I hope your day went well!

Ok I should get another cup of coffee and then get my page posted and get on with my day. Not much to do today, but should really get out and find a birthday card for my sister Wendy, her birthday was yesterday, but we (my sister Pam and myself) are taking her out for lunch on Sunday! It will be so nice to catch up with them both after the busy holiday season! Have a wonderful day everyone!

Good morning, ladies. I'm tired this morning. We were up at the hospital with Bailey last night so didn't get home til 10:30 and then had to have a bite to eat before going to bed which we hate to do but we didn't have time for dinner before heading over there earlier. So by the time everything was done and I had sat and relaxed for a bit, I got to bed much later than usual. I'm feeling it this morning, I'm dragging my feet and feel foggy. Coffee will be much needed today.

Jen and her ex (Bailey's biological dad who only came into the picture these last couple of years) have an arrangement to pay for Bailey's 3 month treatment at a facility on Bowen Island. She was discharged from the hospital this morning and Jen is en route to the ferry now with her. We will be able to visit at some point later but we sent her off with pictures and cards from the family to keep in her room. The cost is astronomical (a year's salary) which will completely drain Jen's savings but we are so thankful that the dad had the money for 2/3 of it, so it'll be expensive but they've managed to get the money needed. It's been a stressful week of trying to figure out how to get this arranged. We all know it doesn't necessarily mean that she will be able to kick her addictions or that the therapy will help enough for her to copy with life without the alcohol/drugs but this is a chance for her, so we all pray it works. It breaks my heart to see her so lost, so sad, so messed up by what her stepdad did to her mental state. Please send any good thoughts, prayers, whatever you can, for her recovery. So each morning when I awake I will say a prayer for her recovery.

Today is work, chores and maybe a bit of cooking for some freezer stocking. I need to get some meals made for D (spaghetti sauce and chili).

Chris - the printer is working fine now, fingers crossed. I ended up getting the iphone 8+. I was so tempted to go with the Samsung but at the last minute I changed my mind. Its just so much easier when D, Jen and I all have the same phone so we can help each other with figuring stuff out. I was on the phone for almost 1.5 hrs, going over possibilities and pricing. It's not like in the States where there are much more affordable options. Canada sucks for cell phone plans. But by the end of our convo I was able to get a plan I was happy with, I got the iphone almost free and got a few extra things I didn't have on my last plan. It ships today so I should get it early next week.

Keep those fingers and toes warm (with your Raynaud's). I wish I could send you some warm air from BC, its mid 40's now and climbing so it should be fairly mild (just sucks with all the rain we get).

Nancy - glad you are starting to feel better. They have predicted such a nasty flu this year. I bet Luther had a blast in the snow.

Trudy - sounds like you were busy yesterday getting everything put away so you can relax more today. Good that you got your car back too. Its funny you mentioned feeling the cold more now with all the weight loss (congrats BTW...well done!). I was saying the same thing recently to D that I feel much colder than I used to and have to bundle up more. I'm coming up to my one year anniversary of the low carb WOE (Feb 15) and can't believe I lost 65 lbs in a year. I never would have thought it was possible. Are you planning to lose anymore? Or are you doing maintenance now? I seem to be doing ok with maintenance now, just increased my meal size a bit and added in an extra piece of fruit most days. Are you still keto? Or have you moved into a more paleo type (more carbs, more veggies/fruit)? It'll be interesting to get my blood work done at the end of the month and see how things are. Has all your blood work been good this past year?

Felis, Jean, Sharon....everyone else....hope you have a great day.

I'm getting another coffee and getting to work now. The coffee is doing its job and I'm starting to feel more awake now :)

We have the cold, single digits here, but not the snow, at least at the moment. I'm not planning to leave the house today but will go to a meeting tomorrow morning.

Chris, so sorry for you in the extreme cold. There isn't really anything you can do about it, so just keep bundled up. Sorry you have to go out to clean. Glad you are having fun with that game.

Nancy, great that your health has improved a bit! We'll keep sending healing feelings. Not the weather for you to be out in it, so maybe just as well the Devils are away. Now if they could find a win!

Trudy, you continue to be a busy lady. I think weight loss does lead to feeling the cold more. I thought it did when I lost lots some time ago. And thanks for the comment on my avi!

Rae, we'll all keep B in our thoughts and prayers hoping for real progress. Good that you got a better phone plan too.

Felis, Sharon, all, hope you're warm and happy!
