Another day, another crazy day of money/health insurance/Rx coverage worries. :(
Yannow- I don't want to be rich. I don't need gobs of "stuff." I just wish I had enough money to pay medical bills. (And decent food without worrying about trying to save $1 here and there.). The supermarket and pharmacy are quickly becoming my most hated/depressing place on earth.

My morning started yesterday by getting cancelled by my Friday client. So I was 0-3 for work this week. I head over to Shop Rite to pick up a couple of things I need to get through the weekend. But the main reason I was there was to get a bunch of Gary's Rx's that had run out. The Pharm says that he needed to show a new card. I go back home, and he tells me he forgot that he had a new Rx card. I go back after lunch, with my mom. 4 of 5 Rx's went through fine with the co-pay. his babesia Rx-- a generic, no less-- $344 for one month. They had to order it so I have to pick it up today. But my stomach is in knots b/c I know exactly what Gary's reaction is going to be.

he's done. He doesn't want it, won't take it, its too much money. Basically- says f-it all. Can't say I blame him either. But OTOH-- he has to take it or he'll never get better. It took him a while, but he chilled a bit and called the dr-- who never got back to him. She doubled his dose- one pill a day to 2 b/c his numbers skyrocketed after the first month of treatment- and maybe she'll be ok if he takes 1 a day again? But yeah, we don't know what is best for him medically.

My parents offered to pay for the Rx, but that makes it even harder. My 70 yo parents should not have to be taking care of us. (Yes, I got the "lecture" about how parents will always take care of their kids no matter what ages they are when I said that to my Mom).
So add in this stress, plus that the dr is out of donated IV doxy which is $80 a DAY!!!-- I just simply don't know what to do. I mean, we'll keep doing what we are doing-- using Credit cards-- but its no way to live. And people wonder why medical bankruptcy is so common in the US... SMH.

Anyway-- that is my rant for the day.... I am just so tired of it all. And Gary is beyond tired.

On the good side-- there is always a good side!!-- I called my MIL and am working for her today. She is having a rough patch with my FIL's stubbornness (Guess where gary gets it from :pound: ) and we will have a fantastic bitch-fest!!

:D

Lots and lots of happy to you all! I might have a hard time holding onto my own joy- but the nice this is to be able to spread it around to all of you!!!

quickies from yesterday!

Linda S! Smack that computer for me! :fish: It better stop harassing you! I looove hearing that you will be in Maui! (jealous, yes, but happy for you and the fam!!)
Awesome deal on the Dyson! One of my clients has one, and man it is cool!!!

wow, do i hate January. it's SUCH a letdown after December. and it's guaranteed that the weather will immediately take a dive after Christmas around here. i keep telling myself: just get through January and February and it's all downhill to spring from there!!

happy Thursday! THINK SPRING!!

This^ -- total agreement!!

Did you get to Skype with DS? Hope it was a nice chat!

Donna- Hope that you got lots accomplished with your painting project and didn't have to battle too many crowds at the gym.

Nnacy- WTG on the Hockey!!! Bet you are excited for the game tomorrow!!!!! Hope your son is still goign strong- Scott ran over to Cait's friend's house last night to grab her ipod that she left there. Really!!:D

Terry- did you survive your hellish day yesterday? How is the fur-baby? You said it was a stomach thing? My vet recommends canned kitten food whenever my dogs had stomach stuff going on. Apparently is is more easily digested, plus higher in calories so you get more nutrition in smaller amounts. If you can, try that and see if it helps. Oh- yeah-- it is also higher in water content so they don't dehydrate too.

Trudy-- uggghhhhhhh!!! That sounds brutally cold for the doors to be frozen shut!!! One of my best Christmas gifts ever was my remote start for my car. I use it every day this time of year. Hope it didn't take too long to thaw.
I'll get a pic of the dishes soon! They are seriously adorable. I am getting 4 dinner and 4 luncheon. They are white w/ a black and white Classic Mickey in the center. She also wanted to get me a Mickey Ear shaped casserole but I don't have anywhere to keep it without it getting banged up. But really cute stuff!!! The only things that's bad is that it makes me want to go back to disney in the worst way. Some day.... :)

Laurie- good for you! I did see that pic of Santa! cold cold cold!!! You are doing great with the declutter!

jen!! I never did get the hang of "no hands" but I would type with one hand LOL I cannot imagine taking all of those kids anywhere on my own, I struggled with 2!! :D

Nana! bet you were so happy to see that school bus! yayy!!!!!
I would love to see the O-Cards scrapped. I couldn't participate but I would love to see the O-Fam!!!

Gotta run! xoxoxoxoo

Quick stop here by me. We are back to school. I say we because it certainly feels like we are part of this...what with homework and signing planners, etc. But the "daily" word is helping. Trying to just live in a day...not live the next 10 years.

I also saw the Santa face Laurie and loved it.

Are your hockey games done yet Nancy? Good thing that you have those with the NHL out on strike.

Terry, hope things are settling down a bit for you.

Trudy, could we just ban cold weather?

Waving Good morning to Donna and Phylis. May talk to you all tonight.

Good morning ladies....I have to shout about the SUN being out today!! WOOOOTT!! We haven't seen sun in two weeks!! So today...I want to scrap a page...yes...maybe two....if I remember how!!

Okay....so someone please explain to me......we got our Tax Assessment on our house yesterday....Now the housing market tanked three years ago..or a little longer..and our tax assessement never went down...kept increasing...yet houses were selling for less and less and less, if they were selling at all....now they are increasing again, houses selling more frequently and for more....but our assessement went down by $16,000. Very strange how this works...but I won't complain, as that just means our house payment will go down since we have to pay less taxes this year!! WOOOT!!

OOOH....forgot to mention my little man turned 9 yesterday...OMG!!! My C-man is 9!!!!! HOW DID THAT HAPPEN!!! This little guy, I was right there when he was born...the first person to hold that tiny little baby!! And here we are 9 years later and he has brought so much joy to us..and yes...we have spoiled him so horribly he is a brat!! WELLLLLLLLLL.....what are grandparents for anyway?? :becky:

Okay....gotta run...I need to take a nap...yes...I said a nap....my coughing had me up for a couple of hours last night..and I am so sleepy.

You ladies have an OMAZING DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nana, never try to figure out the mind of Government. if such a thing exists.... enjoy your nap, and hope you feel BETTER FAST!

Linda, is it at least a LITTLE fun being back on some sort of schedule with the kids? i always found that a little comforting after the Holidays!

Laurie, pizza and WINE!! i'm coming over. hold the mushrooms.

Jen, your nursing talent is amazing!
Canada has talent!!!!
snort....

Terry, hope your furbaby is improving. it is SO sad to see them suffer.

Trudy, it was freezing here yesterday, too. and, whoops!! i'm looking out the window now and i see a teeny bit of sno falling. STOP IT!!!!!!!

Hey, Donna! good luck at the gym, although it doesn't look like you actually NEEEEED the gym!!!

Nancy, i keep forgetting to ask my son whether he's watching the hockey, since he's actually IN Russia! go USA!

Chris, i wish so much i knew what to tell you to do that would help. is the treatment that Gary is getting (the prescriptions) considered controversial or unproven or something? did you ever consider getting a job that had benefits and that would give you a predictable source of income, instead of people being able to cancel on you out of the blue? would that help? your situation is so complicated to me that i can't imagine an answer. although one thing to maybe think of: take some help from your parents, if it doesn't put their standard of living in jeopardy. speaking as an old lady with kids almost your age, we parents NEVER want to be done with being helpful, if we can be, and if our children are good eggs and are nice to us in general. you are backed into a corner and surely your health, both mental and physical, is suffering because of the enormous burden you shoulder all by yourself. let them help you. it's a win---win. really, it is.

ok. i step off my soap box now....

YAY!!!! FRIDAY!!!!! (although Hubby will be home again for 2 days at the weekend, and if feels like i just got him out from under my feet about an hour ago!)

be happy. why the heck not.

Good morning O'family!

I am so glad it is Friday. I need a break. Seems like I just had a break--guess it wasn't long enough.

Chris-just hang in there. I don't know how you do it. I work in healthcare and I find it so difficult that people who truly need help, can't get the help. You are in the crack--make too much money--but it really isn't enough money to sustain. I find it is the meds that breaks most people. The cost is just outrageous.

I'm going to work today-yuck. I just am not in the mood. I do have to catch a ride to the city to pick up my car. Hopefully it will be done by mid day.

My poor little dog--she looked somewhat better yesterday but really never moved and did not eat all day. I gave her a little broth--that's about all she would take. This morning she managed to eat food--a little bit. Now to see if she keeps it down. I'm watching her like a hawk--if she really doesn't get a lot better by tomorrow, she's going back to the vet.

I actually sat down and scrapped a couple of pages in the last few days. Need to get my LO's done for a CT I'm on. They are due by the 14th.

well the phone is ringing--guess it is time to get to work.

Morning Sweet "O"'s!! Long day of work today and all weekend as its inventory time, then next week I have Wednesday off and work full hours the rest of the week???? WTH?? I guess I'm gonna have to talk to my brainless boss again  I thought that is why they hired another part time cashier?? Oh well I don't start work til 9:30 so I will enjoy what time I have here this morning!

Chris - Oh I wish I could give you some wise advice!! But sadly, I just don't know how to help you my friend :noidea: I wonder if your country will come out with universal health care?? The rest of the world seems to do ok with it, why can't the US? Just saying!!
It does not help that your client cancelled on you either  So frustrating!! Take your parents help, it would make them feel better and they would not have to worry about you anymore, do it for them if you won't do for you.

LindaS - Back to your busy, busy life!! Hope your day goes smoothly and just keep thinking about your great trip to Maui! It will help you get through the next few weeks!

Laurie - Glad that you included the wine with your dinner tonight :becky: Hooray for getting some scrapping done!

Nana Linda - So nice to see you here again! Glad that the sun has made an appearance in your neck of the woods! We got our assessment in the mail yesterday too, but forgot to ask hubby what it was? Better check it out! Wow, your C-man is 9?? How did that happen? I can't believe that my first grandchild will be 5 this year!!! Stop the world!!!! Its spinning too fast!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Phylis - A bit warmer here today, so hubby managed to get his truck doors opened this morning, a bit of snow here last night, but not even enough to stick to the roads thank goodness! Hope you enjoy your day alone, then hubby back home on the weekend, mine will be enjoying the house to himself this weekend without me here all day. :mmph: it should be the other way around!!!!

Terry - Sure hope your little fur baby feels better soon!! Poor little guy!!

Well have a great day everyone, I will be thinking of you as I am busy counting every single nut and bolt at the hardware store these next three days!! Have a creative day!

Hugs and prayers Chris. I am thankful that even though my son deals with pain daily, our insurance coverage has made things bearable financially.
