I am in a cranky mood so I apologize in advance if it seeps into my posting.
All I will say is that the entire world is in some deep doo-doo, burning literally and figuratively, and I don't trust our leaders (generally speaking) to get us out of it. I feel very bleak about it. :(

I have a tiny bit of good rats news to report. Dilly's abscess is almost gone, it is the smallest it has been since she came here a year ago. And even better rat-news is that Scott and Cait are driving up to CT tomorrow to get the 2 new babies. You all know how much the rats and dogs make me happy. I wish I could make Floyd (the cat) happy but he is old and cranky (like me).

I have a lot to do today- the most important is helping Caitlyn submit her financial aid application for Grad school. Yikes. That is always a bit horrifying. Gary and I are going to pick up our groceries and at least I don't have to physically walk through the store. I feel like I am wasting money by paying someone to do that for me but I think at this point it is worth the $. I try to justify the fee by saying it is preventing me from making impulse purchases in the store ;)

I can't believe it is already 8 am, still so dark outside.
Sending happy thoughts and hugs to everyone with hopes that they bounce back to me

Kay- awwww, that stinks about your foot. Darn it. Do your best to keep it elevated and I hope it feels better today.

nancy- Did DH get any of the results back from the CAT scan yet? I hope that it isn't pneumonia.
Oh yeah, hockey heaven for you!
It is raining here today but I am happy that it is not snow.

Rae- that is a relief that Taz is doing well with the turkey broth. I hope that he continues to enjoy it. My dogs are thankfully not picky with their kibble but J is very picky about treats. One thing I need to do today is make up some more of the sweet potato/oatmeal treats. Those she loves.
His Dark Materials - is that on HBO? We don't have that. We used to when we had access to Brendan's Hulu acct but since he and Cait are no longer, we had to get out own Hulu acct. (the one bad thing about the breakup hahaha! I am such an evil mama. :smokin: )

Trudy- cute umbrella! we need them here today. It must have been nice to sit outside with your Gary. But strange, for sure.
Congrats on a perfect resin cure!

xoxo to everyone!

good morning - My Devils won again for their first 3 game winning streak. This was against the NY Islanders who they have a bad record against. It is nice to see my team playing as a team. The USA lost to Finland. The Finland goalie was outstanding but the USA spent way too much time killing penalties. Had a nice dinner out with my girlfriend her daughter is sick and it sounds like my DH with lots of coughing. My DH won't learn the results for a while but they do not hear fluids in his lungs. They gave him some dye and in the middle of the night woke up with terrible leg cramps. He was told this dye would dehydrate him so he did not drink enough. Felt bad for him. I brought home food for my son and he did the grocery shopping for me. It was a win win for us both. Chris I feel so lucky that he will do this. Luther is in daycare and this is good as it will be raining all day so this way he will be kept busy. Had a nice talk with my sister. It is funny but neither of us feel the need to do FaceTime.

Chris sorry for the bad mood but gosh the news is scary. I keep thinking I should look into having someone shop for me but as long as my son will do it I am good. Great news about the abcses getting so small. And good news that you are rescuing more animals. You are lucky your dogs will eat. Having Luther being so allergic it has been a bit of a struggle. But we have it sorted out. Sending you plenty of happy thoughts!

Kay hope the keeping the foot elevated helped with pain and you can get to your errands today!

Trudy so glad the resin was perfect. Sitting out with your favorite guy must have been so nice. Hope the rain does not last long! Trudy are your relatives that live in Australia any where near those devastating fires? It is so scary to see those on the beach waiting to be rescued.

Rae so glad you found something that Taz likes to eat. Saw the photos on facebook and he first swim of the year. He is such a cutie. Luther on our first walk of the new year wanted to swim the pond to get to the geese but I being the bad mom said no way!

Waving to all Have a great day!

Good morning, ladies. My last day off before starting work again on Monday. Where did the time go???? But everything is done that I was hoping to accomplish except for tax paper sorting which I will work on over the wkend. Today I will run errands, maybe scrap a page later and want to print out a menu plan for the next few wks. It will also help with grocery shopping b/c lately we've had a lot of wasted leftover food, so want to shop more effectively. I'm reading "The Family Upstairs" and so far I like it. I'm so happy I got out into the garden yesterday for a bit b/c now the rain is back and I don't think we'll have much good weather over the next wk or so. The squirrels were so happy to see me. Within a few minutes of putting the seeds/nuts out for them and then sitting on my stool, 5 black ones came and sat all around me, eating and chasing each other. The grey one is so pretty and found a spot a little further away from the black ones. They don't like to share with him.

Chris - I think that show from HBO. Hopefully you will get it eventually, I think you'll like it. We have 3 episodes left and can't wait to finish it tonight.

Nancy - your poor hubs. Cramps are the worst. I don't generally do FaceTime either. It feels weird to me :)

Hope everyone is having a great day. I think I'll go look at the challenges and do one later.

I've been distracted the last few days. First thing on Jan. 1, Puzzle Up arrived so we've been working on that. Plus, also on the first I got a message via Ancestry from a person with names of the parents of one of my ancestors, data and reference to a document in which the man names his oldest child, my female ancestor's married name! I've looked at it, a RevWar declaration for pension, and lots more on him and it looks like the real answer. How wonderful is that?! Anyway, spending lots of time researching him. No thoughts of scrapping at the moment, well maybe some thoughts, but no time. Tomorrow is the first genealogy meeting of the year and the others will keep crowding in. Today is rainy and I need to send DH to the grocery.

Chris, sure hope the grumpies depart, maybe with the arrival of the new rat babies? Good news on the abscess. Sending good feelings and hope that the ankle feels better so you can get out of the boot.

Nancy, how super for a 3-game win streak! Must be fun to watch. Not a mean mom to keep Luther from going after the geese, just sensible. Nice he's got the rainy day a doggy daycare.

Rae, playing with the squirrels sounds delightful. I saw a black one in our yard last month, a real surprise as I didn't know any were this close though across town I know there are lots in one area. I guess they are just a color phase, but pretty cool looking.

Hi to Trudy, Kay, Felis, and all.

Bit the bullet and did some errands today. Stocked up on fruit and veggies. And I got a steal on black grapes, figi apples, avocados, and oranges! I managed to find 1 pack of 5 mesh veggie bags but the other stores are out of them right now. Since plastic bags of any kind are not allowed now, everyone is buying the mesh veggie bags and reusable tote bags. I also found some nice cotton/blend queen sheets/cases on sale - so snagged a couple of sets. The old ones I have on my bed are so rough [100% scratchy cotton] that I hate to use them. The rest of the errands will have to wait as I really need to put the foot up and take some meds.

I did get some Puril Ultra-odor strength detergent and did a load of towels with it. WOW... super impressed by how clean they smell! Will definitely be using that for sheets and towels.

Sorry no personals today... just too tired.
