:whoo: TGIF and ready for a week off, baby! Not technically for me, I have two scheduled cleaning next week and our day-long Lyme dr appt for the kids on Friday. But, I won't have to get up at 5 am for a week, and that's good news!

aaah, drat! I thought i was going to have some quiet time this morning, but Catzilla found me, which mwans I can't type!

I'll be off, but back later. Love you akll

First day of DHs week off. Well, actually it's 10 days off. Lots of cooking to do today - now there's no way to aviod it anymore. First - the Janssons frestelse I've been talking about all week. Then a Finnish dish "Porkkanalaatikko" - tastes wonderful together with sausage and meat balls. After that - preparing the ham. The tradition is you make the ham the night before Christmas eve and have your first ham sandwich - that's the official start of Christmas.

I bought a ham that's cooked already - I'm lazy. Now all I have to do to prepare it is to coat it with egg mixed with mustard, and then bread crumbs. In to the oven for 10-15 minutes. Done!

My sister called, and we're going to the stores later today ... Hopefully, I'll have the Jansson done before that (need to leave the puter LOL). I'll probably go crazy with all the people, but I need so buy some stuff I had forgotten. See if I survive.

Oh ... I think I should prepare on of these for next year:

thanks for that link, Eva. Heaven knows I NEED IT, too!

today's the day i tackle most of the house cleaning. my body must have known i needed lots of time to do it, because i awoke at 5 a.m. 15 minutes later, my son called from overseas. now i'm dusting and letting my Roomba do the wood floor in the dining room before i get down on my hands and knees and wipe it down. and, of, course, i'll be tending the &^%# wood stove all day, since we're only getting up to 39 degrees.

well, i'd better get on with things before i lose my enthusiasm. Happy Friday and Merry Christmas!

MOrning all- I am home- black dog hair wads on old blue carpeting-lots of cleaning to do and some shopping, but I am home. I was thinking about how different my house was from the hotel and beach house we stayed in (much better than the beach house- but a neat experience and much less posh than the hotel!) when I looked out the window and saw that we were getting snow! I had already decided that I would be fine and in the Christmas spirit without snow!

Morning O Friends!

Popping in to say hello and hope your Friday is off to a good start. Headed to pick up my daughter and my son will be home tomorrow. Like having her home a day earlier and having help in the kitchen.

Saw this funny on Pinterest:
When a telemarketer calls hand the phone to your three-year-old and tell him/her it's Santa!

Enjoy your day!
Merry Christmas!

Happy Friday my O Family.......

Eva - I love hearing about your traditions, keep them coming.....I too will need the inspiration to get back on track after the New Years.

Phylis - my cleaning day is tomorrow, after work today I have to get to the hairdresser and get this hair worked on.....

Laurie - Welcome back, it's good to see you black hair balls and all.....;>)

Donna - I'm sure you are excited about the family coming arriving.....Enjoy them! I love the telemarketing hit......hee hee.....

Morning all

Today is our Christmas dinner since everyone (Incl us) had plans tomorrow and Sunday. I spent most of the day shopping since our big fridge was full incl a styrofoam box with a crabcake Dick bought the night before. grrr..I'm trying to empty and he's filling.

I did a lot of cooking last night, and today is getting him to do some cleaning without bugging him into a crank-ily done bad job. Clean is relative to him...as I certainly found out when I got lots of my cooking stuff out and found it was put away not really clean. Somehow the idea of doing any washing by hand is anathema to this man! sigh

Well now that I've got that out of me, I hope I can put on my tolerant, happy face and mood.

Chris - Find yourself some Chris time today honey! but enjoy the sleep in time when it comes.

Eva, I never heard of coating a ham that way. Interesting!

Laurie, I hope you had a good time in N'awlins but home with snow? Perfect.

Phylis, I wish I could send you a bit of my almost 60 day and you could send me some of yours and we'd have a nice decent 45-50 temp. A reasonable Dec temp!
Do you like that Roomba? our house is small enough to use a swiffer, esp since we don't have cat hair anymore. I have some places to wash, but these knees don't bend that much any more.

Donna, some one on one time is nice with those no-longer-little children.

Frani - I hope you get your hair done and shine from the top on down!

Ok, maybe it's time to get dressed. Maybe not.

Good Friday morning all! Well, I guess that Christmas is pretty much here. I think we're almost ready. House is clean (still needs to be decluttered but that's always - someone wanna do it for me?) and just another present or two to wrap. I haven't gotten everything done but I've gotten everything that's gonna get done, done. Today my brother & SIL and kids are coming over just to hang out and play games - Christmas Eve is our family time and we go to church and open gifts. Christmas Day will be quiet...just church and supper with my in-laws...Boxing Day is opening gifts and big meal with the in laws, then a day off and then up to my family's place - 5 1/2 hours away. I think I'm ready :)

On the other hand, there is no school today and DH only works 1/2 a day so it will be very relaxed around here!

Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope you all have stress free (or as close as possible) holidays!

Jansson is done and the Finnish carrot dish is in the oven right now. Soon, I'm going to boil eggs (for egg halves) + fix the ham. Here's a great picture I found on how a Swedish Christmas ham should look like:

Can't believe I'm not stressed out - I'm so calm it's scary LOL

Was looking through old Christmas photos today, and I just have to share this photo with you all. I will scrap it later when I have time. But look at this:

This is the Santa I have taken a photo of for my avatar - and it's me. Christmas 1968 - we've been together a long time, me and Santa :)

 hi everyone, just popping in quick... lots of baking and still some wrapping to do but oh so happy!! Have a wonderful day everyone Only 2 more sleeps!!!

Good News! The car finally decided it didn't want to start period.....called the tow truck and it went to the dealer to sit until it gets fixed.....why is that good news, because it's no more worrying if it is going to start or not. Of course the dealership will need to run diagnosics on it, but until they figure it out, it's staying there......will rent a car either tonight or tomorrow, depends on if the mechanic figures out right away what is wrong with it.....fingers crossed it will be fixed ASAP!

Eva.....yummy!

I'm done! It's only 9pm and I can just start relaxing and have Christmas! Can't believe I'm done before midnight and without a total melt down LOL
