Nah, not to Christmas. I'm counting down to the Solstice. Less than 24 hours to go and then, finally, the days will get longer. Yippppeeee!!

How was your day yesterday? Mine felt like it went on for-ev-er. I looked at the clock at one point and it was 1 pm. I swore it should have been dinnertime. It was crazy.

My day started at ShopRite which took much longer than I expected. Much longer. I almost never go inside to shop anymore and I will happily pay the 4.99 shopping fee to have someone do it for me for eternity. The stress of it was stooopid. Adding to that was dealing with "Tally." If your supermarket doesn't have a Tally or similar, be glad. Tally is like a 5' Roomba that follows you around the aisles and beeps. It's supposed to be some sort of inventory scanner but damned if I know how it works or why it is necessary. It only added to my stress levels. I was so close to punching it or ramming it with my cart when it was blocking the aisles -- which was often! (I wasn't really going to punch it but I did in my imagination LOL). Honestly, I don't know how people with anger mgt issues cope with it.

I made one of the bread loaves and dang, it came out very cute! Bigger than I expected so I think the next one I make, I'll divide the dough into two loaves. I made the batch of almond cookies that Gary wanted and I think I am done with baking. Some more lesson planning, and I even scrapped 2 pages!

I don't know what direction I am going in today. Or how many directions for that matter. Hopefully not so many that I make mistakes. That happens often to me this time of year. That always reminds me of when I was a kid-- I was maybe 6 yo and had plans to go somewhere with my friend and her family. I was running out the door to go to my home to get something when I fell. The mom said "Haste makes waste" and I'll never forget that :D

Silly how some things like that stick with you. Do you have a saying that seems antiquated now but makes sense to you after so many years?

Have a wonderful day and enjoy!

:hug4:

What a change from yesterday as the sun came out and it was bright and beautiful for our hike. The falls were huge and the river overflowing with water! There was no beach to sit on for our lunch break and the sound of the rushing water was very loud! The last time we hiked this area we could almost walk across the river. What a change! It was a 10km hike and it was pretty muddy, but also very lovely to be out in the sunshine and fresh air!
What a beautiful photo and you can tell how high the river is! That's a long hike and must have been tricky in the mud. How are your legs feeling today?
Any success finding new PJs? I am so excited for you, the trip is coming up very quickly! All good thoughts for packing and traveling coming to you~~~~~

47 lbs of flour! This is 18 of the 22 crusts we made yesterday. 12 packages (8oz) of pepperoni, 20 lbs cheese, it was SO much work but such a blast. It took 3 hours to make all the crusts. When we served we baked four at a time and it took us the whole 30 minutes to get them all cooked. We make sure they're are four ready at serving time, then we bake and send out as they cook. Everyone knows it takes time but they are willing to wait. They're allowed one piece then they have to go eat it and get back in line. Its the only way we can get everyone through in time.
I am drooling over here about your pizzas. Seems like you have the prep/cooking/serving them down to a science. I guess you have to or there would be pizza sauce-covered chaos.
I'm glad to hear that you were on the couch yesterday, but not that you were a puddle. Are you feeling better today?

@BrightEyes that spam call came at the worst time, waking you out of your dream with Bill. That had to be difficult to let go of. :hug2:
I love Taco salad, that's how I usually eat them too. Load up on the lettuce and cheese. :D
Yours look so pretty!
That clapping guy emoji is too cute, I don't; think I have noticed him before.
:claphands: Found him!

@Cherylndesigns I am adding to my love to you with Kay's. :hug3:

@mimes1 Thank you!!! I knew that you'd have the best advice about the nesting materials. I read a bunch of homeschool blogs and sometimes I know off the bat that the info shared isn't correct or -- how do I put it? -- ecologically sound? YKWIM?
Not that I think it is intentional, just not what I want to put forward as an environmental educator.
The pipe cleaners would be perfect for the kids to use and they could do all of their own foraging and prep to make the frame and fillers.
Thank you for responding so quickly at work too (don't; do that if you are going to get in trouble please :D)

Silly question-- are birds attracted to certain colors? I know hummingbirds like red, but I am wondering if NJ wintering birds would be attracted to a color that I can pick out for the pipe cleaners.
If I have older kids, it would be neat to conduct an experiment- each kid would get a different color and we could see if one got emptied out faster than the others. We'd have to use the same materials in each though... put them in similar areas....
Now I am rambling. LOL!
Anyway, that's a glimpse into the inner workings of my brain as I make my lesson plans. Does your Belle do that too?

@tanteva Love your new fridge... booooooo.
I'm glad that you found a few glimmers of looking at the bright side.

@AK_Tracy Good slug!
And I just saw your next post-- congrats of the surgery approvals!!!
Good evening,
Busy day with Ilene.
Had to buy some Almond Joy candy bars so I could get cash back at the grocery. ;). Yeah, that's my story and I'm sticking with it!
:rotfl: Enjoy your Almond Joys! Hope you have some downtime today after your busy day! I'm guessing your stomach is on the mend too♥

Time to run along...
Love to you all!

Oh, yes! The almond joys are individually wrapped bite size and I enjoyed 2 AFTER Mark went to bed ;)
Yes, the stomach is not 100% but much better. I enjoyed the salad and fettuccine Alfredo at Olive Garden yesterday, but brought most of it home and had it for supper.

Good morning,
Not much going to happen during the day except for dreary weather. This evening we will get Ilene, Dorothy and Ruth and go to a concert at church and refreshments afterwards.
Just going to do a little pickup around the house and do some more scrapping.
Have a wonderful Friday!

Yep, cant wait. We will gain a whole 3 seconds! :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: But its a gain so I'll take it.
I'm glad to hear that you were on the couch yesterday, but not that you were a puddle. Are you feeling better today?
Stayed on the couch most of yesterday. Battled mom guilt for doing nothing. But I feel better today.
Just going to do a little pickup around the house and do some more scrapping.
Sounds like a nice putter around the house day.

Today I need to make gingerbread trains to be decorated, egg rolls for Christmas Eve. Going to freeze them and then reheat on the day. Trying this to see if I can prep and have less to do later. Finished wrapping presents yesterday. Had hubs help which was great. He did the cutting and bows while I did the wrap and tape.
Off to get coffee. Have a. wonderful Friday.

Yes.... quite the opposite of you, sounds like!

Morning everyone it is a foggy morning here, but at least the rain has stopped for a bit. Had a busy day yesterday of catching up with my old high school friend! We could have chatted all day long :talk:. Then dropped off the appi to my DH at work. He just sent me an email and said that they have officially posted his job, so I guess it must really be happening :holysheep:. Our lives are going to change big time!! I need to drop off a couple of cards to my sister Wendy today and have a coffee with her. I feel badly that I will not be here for her big 70th birthday, but I will take her out for a nice lunch/brunch when I get home. I got the suitcases out of the crawl space yesterday afternoon and did a bit more organizing of the stocking stuffers that will have to fit into the checked baggage. The time is flying by and I hope that we don't forget anything! I found the cutest pair of boots yesterday, so told my Gary he just bought me a Christmas gift :giggle4:. Oh and we got upgraded to first class on our flight from Edmonton to Ottawa, so hooray for us!! They better not cancel our flight!!! The weather had better be good!! Looking at the forecast it looks like it will be good, partly sunny weather for the whole trip. So other than talking with Heather this morning I will not have too much to do, but you all know how that can change quickly!!

*drum roll*

Yes Hooray for Solstice!! I have noticed that it is starting to get brighter in the morning, that is on the days when the fog is not hanging around LOL. I have to say though that I sleep so much later when it is dark out in the mornings! Yes I did finally find some pj's at Winners yesterday and a new pair of jeans and then went shopping for boots :devil2: I am a bad girl!! Oh well its Christmas and DH and I don't ever buy each other anything, so I treated myself to some Christmas gifts :giggle4:.

Hope that the weather brightens up for you soon! Have a fun time with the ladies today!

Yesterday was my day to do nothing. Today I have to do all I didn't do yesterday. Or attempt anyway.
I was happy to hear that you are approved for your surgery! I honestly don't know how you find the energy to do all the baking/cooking that you do!! Your pizza's look and sound so yummy!! What a long, busy day you had doing all that! I hope you are rested up today and get everything done that you never got done yesterday!

Ok I am off to the shower :showering:and then will get going to my sisters have a great :friday:

Good morning ladies. I've got a full day ahead. Will walk Remi in a bit (after a bit of CT work), then put crockpot meatballs together to bring with me to the seniors, along with a few secret santa gifts. We'll play mexican train until 3 and then the potluck/game night starts. We'll be out of there around 7:30 but will need to go grab a few groceries before heading home.

My photog friend and I are going to go out sometime in the next week for a drive east of calgary, looking for snowy owls. Other than that, we have game days with friends a few times but the seniors center will be closed so my schedule will be lighter.

A company is here today to install a heating system for the garage. That will be much more convenient as paint and cleaners can't be stored out there in the winter here, too cold. Plus, D will be able to go out there and putter in his workshop anytime and won't have to worry about bundling up.

@faerywings I bet the cookies will be yummy. I've seen a big roomba in walmart but it seems well behaved and doesn't get in our way. I have pictures in my head now of you attacking it LOL.

@AK_Tracy The gingerbread train sounds cool. I love egg rolls. I'm going to pick up a party pack for new years that has egg rolls in it.

I'd better get going. Have a great day, everyone.

@taxed4ever You must be getting so excited for the trip to see the family. First class!!! I've never had the pleasure. That will be a lovely flight.

I would love to have heat in my she shed! There is a space heater but it isn't great. You basically have to straddle it to feel anything! Even in our warmer climate it can get pretty chilly! Too chilly to be without heat!

Popping in late again today. Worked on a couple of pre-release LOs this morning. When I checked my email, I saw that the 4 books I put on reserve yesterday afternoon were ready for pick-up today!! So was dressed and out the door within 30 minutes. I got my hair cut first thing... it has been over 4 months since my last cut. The hair was reaching my collar and really needed to be cut.. Back to my standard Pixie cut. Then over to the Used Book/DVD store. They had 2 large tables filled with boxes of DVDs and had them on sale for 3 for $1!!! I ended up getting 10 DVDs!!! Who could pass up a bargain like that??? :rotfl::claphands::floorlaugh: I couldn't believe the traffic on 525 highway.... the 3 lanes heading south were filled bumper to bumper for well over 6 miles!!! Thank goodness I was going north for 2 miles to get to the DVD store but then had to come back south for 2 miles to get to the road to the library!! Usual 5 minute drive took 20 minutes and traffic piled up at each stop light. And this was mid-morning... not during traffic hours! Geeze.. think I will stay home and off the roads until after Christmas Day and the day after!!! The one good thing was it was warm - 59*F and no wind! I had on a long sleeve cotton tee and had to take my jacket off as I got too warm!

Thank you. I am a stubborn girl and I push through until I cant. I have also found (other then Wednesday) that if I sit for half hour between jobs it goes much better. But I have to get everything done ASAP in the morning then by 2 p.m. (about now) I am on fumes and wont do much more for the day. I need to finish the gingerbread but ran out of molasses so waiting for hubs to get home.

Ooohhhhh this sounds amazing!!! A place for hubs to go without having to bundle. Will give him a man cave!! LOL More time for you to do your crafts un-interupted!!!

Kay @BrightEyes I love that you flew out of the house for books!!! I would too but went to a kindle so I never have to wait. How big is your DVD collection now???

I got my egg rolls done. They are cooled and in the freezer. 12-24 I will heat them in the oven (almost 30 egg rolls). I hope they crisp back up but I cant cook them day of as it took me two hours to make them all. My 30 minute break is almost over. Did I mention I am home alone???? First time in 6 months!! :floorlaugh:
