hey there, O-fam! How are you doing on this last Friday of the month? And you know what that means, the Color Plays are out! Did you see them yet, @AK_Tracy? The colors are perfect for the fall even though I am still pretending that it will be summer forever.

I made it through yesterday without my brain exploding -- always a plus. Today is the bigger challenge. I am going down to visit my parents. *gulp* I think there is only enough wine left in my fridge for one small glass. That might be a problem. :/
I was busy yesterday but had time in the afternoon to scrap a page with new Foxeysquirell designs. She had been on hiatus and I'm happy that she is creating again. I made sure I did that only *after* I ordered the nail polish. I checked in here before I did and agreed with the "no blue" rule. I ordered a set of sheer pinks/nudes and they'll be here today (that love/hate with Amazon again!). I'll test them out tomorrow and see what looks good with my old lady arthritic knuckles and the dress.

Dinner with Scott was hysterical and we played Cards Against Humanity after. The cards that the kids had taken out of the deck had gotten mixed back in so there was a lot of me and Gary pulling a card and refusing to read/keep it. hahah! :blushing1:

Wish me luck in staying calm at my parents'. I am picking up the special family cake knife for the wedding, please don't let me give in to the urge to stab myself with it. :knifehead: :rotfl:

Ugh. I reread what I posted and I don't know if it makes sense. Fill in any words or phrases I left with something that sounds semi-intelligible :stupicpc:

@vickyday I am so relieved that the car repairs weren't that expensive.
Good job with walking and exploring! For me, I have to stay on a schedule because once I start blowing off exercising, that is it, it's over. I have a 15-minute yoga session that I can force myself to do and it helps even that short time. You are really staying on top of walking and it shows!
Hope that your stomach is better and that it stays better.
Nature is incredible-- I have been obsessed with the caterpillars on my milkweed. There was the one monarch caterpillar that died, then another one I watched grow last week, and then I saw three more babies the other day. At some point, one of them has to survive and become a butterfly. At least the milkweed plants are attracting them in the first place :D

@BrightEyes Ooooh nooooo... I hope that the side effects are over by now. Feel better *gentle hugs*

@AK_Tracy Live the new avatar, it is so fun!
So sorry that your car is leaking and the weather is not cooperating. You should wear your waders today, keep your pants dry :giggle4:
I hope the MLD went ok- you don't feel any improvement after? Boo. Is it one of the things you have to do before they will approve surgery? I had to do that with medications so many times. Try 1, 2, 3, 4, and then 5. If those don't *then* we will cover #6 which is the one my doctor originally prescribed. I can't imagine the time and money being wasted in your case.

@JeanneMN How sad about the State Fair. I hope that most of the vendors have some sort of insurance for that. Although the Act of God clause in contracts probably cancels that out.

@scrap-genie Appreciate the nail polish input! It helped. I was leaning toward blue but that got outvoted here. ♥

@Terri M Good news that the trail and bridge repair should be able to go ahead-- and get paid for. Were you able to go to the winery?
I didn't even think about the polish chipping until you wrote that. It's UV gel polish so it doesn't chip as easily as regular, but you know it would happen if it could. :D

@Cherylndesigns Ummmmm-- you know that Ava would have come over, lifted your bed with one hand, grabbed all four storage boxes in the other-- at once of course- and then put it all back for you if you asked, right? :floorlaugh:
Did the solar lights come on? I hope so, I bet they were pretty!

Kay- you have the best kids (second best-- who am I kidding? Mine are #1 LOL), of course DD#3 brought you what you needed ♥

Time to get rolling.....

HAGD!

@BrightEyes I did call DD#3 and she was so sweet to bring me some milk and tapioca pudding!! I ended up sleeping off and on in the recliner most of the day under my heavy throw!! My temp is 99*F so it is improving. Popped in to see that the Color Play kits are in the shop so I stayed up long enough to get the uploaded to the galleries. I am going to fix another milk shake then head on to bed. Hope that most of the side-effects will be gone by tomorrow.
I'm so glad you got your tapioca an milk...I hope you are feeling better...that's a bad reaction--- mine only lasted a day. Got to be better so you can finish your scrapping

@faerywings --neutral -sheer pink so it doesn't draw attention to your hands instead of your happy face....use base coat and top coat so it lasts well.

@AK_Tracy
Its still raining. Went to start the first of the running errands yesterday and yeah my car roof leaked (river) again. Fun. Just what I needed. It was soaked and the passenger seat was wet. Later I looked at it, after more downpour, and the seat was SOAKED more and the roof dripping not just wet. Yeah. Just what I needed. Tomorrow I need to be two places at once so we need to use both cars. Hope it dries out a bit so I dont have wet pants. UGH! And the power has gone out twice so far this morning. Its all of 7:30. No! I know life is busy and I need to slow down but this isn't how its suppose to slow down.

Have MLD PT today. Manual Lymphatic Drainage physical therapy. Its ......... stupid. There I said it. I dont feel it will do what insurance says it will do. But I am checking my boxes toward surgery coverage but its such a waste of my time and the PT time.

Oh no about the roof leaking...I hate sunroofs for that reason..my daughter gets one in every car she buys but only keeps it two years max so has not had a leak.. I had a car once that the rear floor kept getting wet...even my professional car mechanic son couldn't find it....sold it then I went car shopping..I wanted a new car anyway!
That PT sounds weird but maybe it will help..think positive!!

@Terri M I hope your weather holds out so you can go wine tasting...best time with friends. You have so many vineyards in your area so you could wine hop to try a few.

My day-yesterday I made a trip to the storage lot to get more stuff out of the trailer...all the kitchen food and the bathroom stuff is home now and put away. Not too much more there but the gifts under the sofa and some sheets that need washed. I went out to do a few things in the yard but the heat makes it a short time...then in to the A/C for a cool down. Jay cleaned some of the truck but it needs to go get detailed so he will make arrangements for that.. We had across the pond neighbors come over to welcome us home so that was nice to visit with them.. Another friend stopped by but we were not here but we will she her at our welcome home party tomorrow. i'm going to go to Sam's club to get some food...our freezer is pretty empty as are Mother Hubbards cupboards!!! .Have a wOOOnderful day ladies.

Well, the 12 hour sleep - from 7PM until 7AM - seems to have done the healing. Temp is back to normal and even the tummy is settled back to normal. Having my 1st cup of coffee in 3 days.... it sure does taste good!!! The side-effects this year were less than last year - I was down for several days then. Since Covid cases are rising rapidly here, I am glad I got my shot as soon as it was available. Yes, DD#3 was so sweet to get the milk and tapioca for me. I agree, @Cherylndesigns ,,, tapioca is the best thing when the tummy is upset. She bought a different brand and boy... is it is so GOOD! So creamy and such a delicate flavor.

I was able to get the Color Play LOs uploaded everywhere late yesterday afternoon. Saw a couple more that are calling my name. :floorlaugh: Will take a shower then decide if I am up to scrapping. Hoping that 1 more day of rest will get me back to feeling normal.

@faerywings I agree... the pale pink or neutral nail polish will be so elegant. Good luck on your visit with your folks.

@Cherylndesigns I love the LO you made featuring your memory bench!!! The photo shows how peaceful and calm the area is. A perfect spot for you to sit and remember Chuck.

Good Morning my O family!! It is a gorgeous sunny morning and everything is a lot more green after all the rain we finally got! DH and myself slept like the dead last night !! DH said that there were sirens that sounded like they stopped very close by, so he got up to make sure it wasn't at the In-Law's house (thankfully it was not). I did not hear a thing :sleeping1:. I slept right through until 7:30 my DH was still snoring when I got up, thankful that he got back to sleep after hearing the sirens! We had such an amazing time at the ELO concert!! The trip over on the Hullo Ferry was fast and smooth and so much nicer than taking the BC ferries! It took us right downtown to the inner harbour and our hotel was a 5 min walk. We had an amazing view on the 15th floor of the harbour and watched the Cruise Ships come and go. We went for a really long walk along the sea wall yesterday in the warm sunshine, Vancouver really is a beautiful city! However we were happy to be back home to our quieter Island. We were lucky that Mark's daughter joined us as she lives 15 mins from where we were staying and she took us to an amazing place in GasTown for lunch and a few beverages before we got ready to go to the Concert. She got us to the Concert by subway and we were there before we knew it. Wow what a show!! We loved each and every moment of it! Now back to reality and with it being another long weekend coming up we are happy to be home and not have to deal with the crazy traffic! We need to see if the In-Laws are both feeling better and if they need anything in the way of groceries etc. My Gary will be cutting their grass today, but we will see if they are still testing positive before we actually physically see them or not. I need to check in on SIL Linda also by txt and see if she needs anything also. I want to start a layout of our short little fun getaway at some point this weekend. I hope you all have a lovely :friday:

I made it through yesterday without my brain exploding -- always a plus. Today is the bigger challenge. I am going down to visit my parents. *gulp* I think there is only enough wine left in my fridge for one small glass. That might be a problem. :/
Glad you still have your brain and that you did not explode!! :eek2: that would have made a big mess!! LOL. Hope your visit with your parents goes smoothly, you better stop on the way home and pick up some more wine, one glass might not be enough!!
Wow you have been busy getting settled back home for sure!! How nice that your friends and neighbours are welcoming you back home with a party!

What a great sleep!! Guess it was really what you needed! No coffee for 3 days :holysheep:I would be a mess!! Glad to hear that you are feeling better though and happy that you got your Covid shot. We need to get ours soon and the flu shot also, especially since having the in-laws going through Covid, it is getting bad around here too. Hopefully we did not pick up the virus at the concert, guess the next few days will tell.

A line of thunderstorms came by last night so, no, we didn't get to the winery, But we have plans to try tonight instead, although there won't be music or bbq grills. It's funny, there are so many wineries around here (I can bike to 10 of them from my house) but they almost all close by 5:00 except possibly one day a week. So I know which one is open Wednesday evening, Thursday evening, Friday..... Except for Monday and Tuesday you can get an evening if you know where to look. Lots of them are run by families with a small staff, and the big ones make a lot of their money on weddings in the evenings.

At least the milkweed plants are attracting them in the first place
I think all the time that we need to add some milkweed to our yard. We have a lot of it in the meadows along the greenway but I'd like to encourage the monarchs here. I'll have to work on that; a trip to the native plants nursery is in order!

The Color Play selepctions are beautiful this month! So my big expense for scrapbooking all came today. Usually I'd expect another spend when I get my coupon from challenges, but since I didn't do them this month I won't have that excuse. I'm trying desperately to catch up on my weekly pages, and am almost done with my Trails Crew stuff that I need to finish, so I'm hoping for some progress today.

Good morning all,

I've been up for a little while - earlier than usual. Ava tried to sneak something on my front porch and of course, Daisy was barking like a mad dog. Hahaha. My mop broke and she brought me another one. She said she was at Dollar General and saw one and remembered that mine broke.

Chris @faerywings I knew you would scold me for moving my bed and putting those storage bags underneath. I just get in the mood to do something and I go ahead and do it. I know Ava would have gladly come and done it, but I knew she was busy working, and I didn't want to bother her. It keeps me in shape My lights did come on last night - I think they come with some power in them. I pulled some of the old lights out - they were pretty beat up, but I'll use them somewhere. Now, all of my lights lining the front walk match. I got flat lights, and I like them a lot. I also added one in front of my memory bench. It looked so pretty last night. Good idea to stay away from that blue polish and the sheer pink will be beautiful even with your "old lady arthritic knuckles" :floorlaugh::floorlaugh: Good luck today and keep that knife safely tucked away somewhere - preferably not near your head. :knifehead:

Kay @BrightEyes I'm SO happy to hear that you're feeling better!! That sleep did it for sure, or maybe it was the tapioca. That's love in a container right there. I had a different kind not too long ago, but I can't remember what the brand was. It came in a tub like a margarine tub. Boy, was it good. Maybe it was the same kind you had. Thanks for the sweet comment on my layout. Yes, that's the spot that I knew it was going in and I think of Chuck every time I look at that spectacular view. He said he was the happiest he'd ever been during the few years we'd been out here.

Trudy @taxed4ever sounds like a wonderful and memorable trip and I'm so glad you had fun at the concert. Vancouver looks like a beautiful city and you got to see a lot of it while you were there. Great that the daughter lived there and knew all the shortcuts.

@BoatLady welcome back.

Hugs to ALL.
XOXO

Good Morning lOvelies!
Its a beautiful rainy day again! The sun tried to come out but looks like the rain said not today. LOL

And you know what that means, the Color Plays are out! Did you see them yet, @AK_Tracy?
Ummmm yep, saw, bought, downloaded, sorted, drooled over and ready to go! :heartpumppink: :giggle4:
Wish me luck in staying calm at my parents'. I am picking up the special family cake knife for the wedding, please don't let me give in to the urge to stab myself with it. :knifehead: :rotfl:
Okay, just remember, Big Bertha!!! She's the reason we dont stab people. You dont want to have to room with her in prison.
You should wear your waders today, keep your pants dry :giggle4:
:floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh:
I hope the MLD went ok- you don't feel any improvement after? Boo. Is it one of the things you have to do before they will approve surgery?
No, it wont do anything. Its just a box for insurance. They would rather try three months of this then just say yeah, we know you need the surgery. My daughter went through this already so at least I know the road were on and how to navigate it. Its just frustrating as it breaks up my week/days and for what, a checkbox? Yeah.
Oh no about the roof leaking...I hate sunroofs for that reason..my daughter gets one in every car she buys but only keeps it two years max so has not had a leak.
I've never had a sunroof, so I guess I am doing good if I made it to now, 13 years later, before it leaked. Pretty sure Chrysler is sorry they sold me a lifetime warranty LOL I've kept the car way longer then average and they didn't expect me to still be calling in on the warranty. But yeah they offered, I bought and now they gotta fix it. All I pay is the deductible. So hopefully they can get it done and its early LOL Seems ever December is when my car wants to be at the dealer. So maybe this year I won't have to be down in December.
Well, the 12 hour sleep - from 7PM until 7AM - seems to have done the healing.
I'm so glad you are feeling better!!!
We loved each and every moment of it! Now back to reality and with it being another long weekend coming up we are happy to be home
This is the best update ever. Sounds like a fabulous time! So happy for you guys an that you had a wonderful get away. Hope youre SIL Linda is doing well and not sick!

@Terri M Yep, I hear you on the CP purchase! I try to wait and be good but nope, they were amazing and I bought them! Now to figure out what bill wont be paid this month :floorlaugh: Just kidding! But sometimes that is how it feels. I must buy this kit and the gas bill will just have to wait LOL

@Cherylndesigns yeah for matching lights!!!! Bet they look fabulous!!!

Today should be fun. Get to take the big dogs to the vet for shots. Drop kid off for camping weekend. Laundry. Dishes. Not pizza night since we will do that Sunday with grands. Hopefully I'll have a second or two to start a LO with the new CP items I bought. I have yellow leaves so I can do fall layouts without using last years photos LOL. Ummmm. how is it almost September?

Well, I couldn't resist... just had to get Rustic Garden - CP - by Daydream Design and had to work, with it right away. As a CT I tend to collect stock photos when I see ones I like.
Back story... have you ever seen a stock photo that just caught your eye and said.. "take me" even if you don't know what kit you will eventually use it with?? Well, I have had this photo for the past few months and knew the right kit would come along. Rustic Garden jumped into my cart as soon as I saw it in the shop... it was perfect... the right colors and the right word art! I did a happy dance as soon as I saw it.

I also had a call from DD#1... with a surprise. Looks like she will be coming to visit me for about a week toward the end of September. I am really looking forward to that.

@faerywings Oh my - you have never played cards against humanity until you play it with your 88 yo FIL and his 80 yo girlfriend!! Mel didn't warn them, and some of them are QUITE nasty!!! He was so shocked and laughed harder than I've ever heard him laugh in my life! (He's not a prude so he wasn't offended, but he was definitely shocked!!)

Nothing much new going on here. My trainer at Planet Fitness left and we no longer have classes to go to. I'm really bummed about that because it made me stay really consistent, but the ladies from the class have agreed to meeting every MWF at noon to do the circuit together. I don't want to lose my momentum.

Weight Watchers is going well. I am learning to eat different types of foods and realizing that a lot of foods just aren't worth the calories to eat or drink anymore. I haven't had soda since January and I don't think I ever will again. I have to treat it like a drug addiction. One sip and I'll be back to 2 liters a day!! I know myself. Another thing I learned is that many things that I thought were good choices, really weren't. Did you know that ONE slice of Costco Cheese pizza was 2/3 of my daily calorie allowance??? I used to eat 3 or 4 pieces when we had it on Sunday's at Dad's house!!

I have officially hit 80 lbs down, and I have 37 lbs to go. I am 5 lbs away from the weight I was when I got married, and the weight I STARTED at Jenny Craig back in 1988. Sigh... and I thought I was a whale then!! I gained almost 100lbs HEAVIER than my starting JC weight!

Off to Costco to get food for a Labor Day party at our house.

:yourock::yourock::yourock:

Congratulations!!!!!! I am so proud of you!!!! What a tremendous goal you have hit!!! Such hard work and you've kicked butt!!!!!

I quit soda a long time ago and it is amazing how much better life is without the soda. Now, its been ten years, I can have a sip here and there and it reminds me why I dont want it. I love Dr. Pepper but now its so sweet and ugh. When I order it, I drink 1/3 and then go for water and drink about 10 glasses. Okay maybe not that many but for sure 2 full glasses. Like my body is telling me to flush that yuck out.
