I am in.........

a .......

GOOD mood!!!!!!!!!!

:clap2::whoo::clap2:
('bout darn time, eh? :D)

Let's breathe in sunshine again. Lots of bright yellow light in and out of your lungs, filling your body with warmth and joy. Breathe innnnnnn and release...

So why am I in a good mood, you ask?
For one I slept well plus W slept with me instead of Caitlyn. *evil grin* My feet stayed warm.
I am going to be able to get some semblance of a food order today.
It is Bat Appreciation Day which turns out to be appropriate because it is Vampire Day in my house.
WTH is Vampire Day? Glad you asked!

When my kids were young, we had what I called Theme Nights. Some of you might remember me talking about this before. What we did was I printed up slips of paper with Themes on them, like Wizard Night, Cowboy Night, Sponge Bob Night. We would draw the theme early in the week and then plan out a menu and decorations and a movie based on the theme which we would celebrate on a Friday night.
A couple of weeks ago, my "kids" told Gary and me at dinner that they were reinstating theme nights during quarantine. Earlier in the week, Cait printed out a bunch of Theme Nights and we picked them out of the hat just like we did many years ago. This time, we cheated a bit. We knew we wanted to start with Vampire Night so we picked until we got the right paper. Why didn't we just take the correct paper out? Traditions my dear friends. My kids are *big* on traditions and we had to pick them out of a hat, even if we cheated while doing so. :pound:
Tonight we are watching the first 2 episodes of Season 2 of What We Do In The Shadows which has to be our favorite TV show right now. It is the most ridiculous, quirky show about vampires. We finished watching Season 1 last night for the third time.
So Vampire Night's menu is Spaghetti- a call back to a scene in the WWDITS movie, Bloody Marys, and sugar cookies cut out like a vampire cat. (I have to make them next). We have "creepy paper" (crepe paper- from Season 1 Ep
1), Halloween plates/napkins. Cait has "Blooderscotch" Schnapps and grenadine to turn anything else we want to drink red. LOL
And voila! We have 21+ Theme Nights!

I am going to post this now and then be back for personals in a but. I have to make the cookies before they wake up since that is Gary and my secret contribution.

xoxo

Cookies are made!

My kitchen is all cleaned up and the cookies are hidden away. :)
The vampire cat didn't come out as good as we hoped but the kids will know exactly what it is supposed to be. That is the whole point, make everyone laugh a bit.

Yesterday was so cold I didn't spend any time outside. The next nice day we might have is Sunday. Cait and I worked on a puzzle and I ran out with her to the liquor store, they do curbside pick up so he put everything in her car. Sweet! I will have to remember that when I run out of my box of wine LOL What else did I do? Not much- I finished the scrap page of the easter egg hunt. I saw that Jean and Trudy left love. Mary Davis too. I wish there was some way to convey how ridiculous and funny it was. I wish I had better writing skills like Caitlyn. But I think I conveyed the message of it all. Jean-- the kids are such a great blend of me and Gary. They have the strangest senses of humor and are super smart. Also impatient and stubborn as rocks. They get both the good and the bad, Ha!!

Trudy- How neat to watch the landscapers work next door. But WTH, neighbor Dr?? 6 feet, dude!!!
I will gladly send you my soggy lawn anytime! Maybe that rain will help the pollen too, the last thing you need is to start coughing in public.
Did you talk to any of the grand yesterday? I hope that they are doing well.

Jean- Agh!!!! Sorry that the snow stuck a bit. It is too late in the season for it to be doing that! Even though taxes aren't due yet, it is a relief to have them out of the way. Your rice sounds so good, I might the trying something like that one day, found a vegetarian fried rice recipe so we will have to see when I am in the mood to cook. LOL

Nancy- I am so sorry to hear about your friend's father :( That makes me so sad that no one can be there and what scares me about my parents.
Isn't it funny how food becomes this strange and huge thing for us? What to eat, how to get it, do we have enough, why am I carving this?
My town's school district has now bumped the "possible" back to school date to May 15. The town's FB page is inundated with parents who are refusing to send their kids. And DT wants *sports* to come back? Yeah, right!
Hope you are warmer than it is up here in the mountains!

Kay-Wow, that is fantastic news about your health and BP! And more good news about the laptop, you will be happy when you can see the family "together!"

JEAN!! I am so happy to see Black Horse!!! Fantastic work!!!!!

Felis- Happy Easter weekend to you and your family

Hugs!!!!

Morning everyone! I will be heading out the door soon for the dreaded grocery run. Ugh! I have never liked grocery shopping, but now I dread it! Should not take me too long as I don't really need all that much, just a few essentials. Will try again to get a spot for online shopping for next week. Another lovely blue sky day so far, even though the forecast was calling for a cloudy grey day. Weekend looks to be great with lots of sunshine too. Wish I could send some of it out east for those who are still in winter's grip. They are calling for snow in Ontario on Tuesday. Really?? WTH! I woke up with a horrible headache this morning, probably clenching my teeth all night long. I will have to start wearing my mouth guard again I guess. Have it on now because I tend to clench my jaw while I am on the computer for any length of time. So yesterday I re-did my round painting, it did not dry well and I am really liking the way it turned out this time. So I hope to find the clock works somewhere and turn it into a nice little clock. I started a page yesterday, but was not happy with the direction it was going, so I will try again later today after the dreaded shopping is done LOL.

Chris - Ha, Ha I love your family and all of your nutty traditions!! Have fun with your theme nights!! Too funny :pound: I did get to talk to Mason yesterday, the parcel that I sent out finally arrived and he wanted to thank me for the Easter Card and goodies  I also sent out some blackberry jelly (Mason's fav!). and Ichiban noodles that they all love but are unable to find any at their local store a few other things for Heather and Jonah were in there too. I am hoping that they are all getting along well, its hard to be cooped up in a small house especially when you are used to your spouse not being there 24-7 LOL. Hope that your temps get warmer in the coming days and you get to be outside again!

Jean - Thanks for sharing the link, the Black Horse and poetry were so great to see! You have such talent my friend! Love it!! I sure hope that you and DH can enjoy some nice weather soon too and perhaps you can get some nice take out meal this weekend?

Kay - That is such great news about your BP being back to where it should be! Keep up the great work! I am happy that your family is taking such good care of you too, so nice that they will get your grocery shopping and your meds picked up for you!

Nancy - Oh how sad about your friends father passing from the virus!! Yes it is hitting the very elderly quite hard! Here they are making sure that home care workers can only work in one care home and not at several as they have been before all of this. WTH is DT thinking, bringing back sports really?? Not sure if you have seen this post that I shared on my facebook page, but it sure makes you think about what could happen if we go back to our normal too soon. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10216689829220247&set=a.10208867900396915&type=3&eid=ARCfA9eZrhLh-b_rgUJololr5df5aI9aAnJxG_GMHIw_kOYJh8Q8LeA1r6btDTSj3mWbr4VLA7tcVcxV
I hope that your DH realizes that he should follow the rules and I hope that you find something that is healthy to satisfy your munchies today!

Felis - Happy Easter to you!! I hope that you get to spend some time outside in warmer temps and that your family are all well and healthy! Enjoy your weekend!

Ok I best get into the shower and get to the store! Have a wonderful Friday everyone! Stay safe!!

good late morning - listening to Cuomo's press conference. He is pretty funny while talking about this serious pandemic. His new quote is "Don't pass the buck without passing the bucks" by AJ something - speaking of the President telling the states to do the reopening without giving any funding. He gives me hope. Yesterday I attended a Devils event hosted by one of the Devils play by play announcers. It was a 30 min youtube Q&A with Jack Hughes our number 1 draft choice from last year. He is still such a kid, I am not even sure he has turned 19 yet. But he seems to have really learned that the NHL is a hard league to play in as a kid. It was fun to listen to and yet makes me realize just how much I miss hockey. Then ABC put on a sing a long show featuring Disney songs and artists singing with the words on the bottom. It felt like Mitch Miller if any of you remember that. It was really fun. I would love to see more. My DH had Luther out early but I did not go as I do not want to be cold. I was going to go later but now not so sure as Luther is limping again. I think he just needs to rest but so hard to explain that to a dog.

Chris yes it is too cold. I cant believe it! The sun is nice but I need heat. My sister said that it will be near 90 next week and she would love to send us some heat! I wish she could. Have fun with Vampire Night. What a good idea! Love the cookies!

Trudy how nice the new doctor has landscapers coming. I feel for sure that I have the lawn that drags down the property value in our neighborhood. My DH refuses to let others help so it is what it is. Have fun with FaceTime with the grands.

Kay congrats on your health rebounding so well! That is so interesting that the is now this telemedicine. I bet it stays around after this pandemic ends. How wonderful that your daughters will shop for you.

Jean I love that painting! You are so talented. Thanks for sharing the link! I am so impressed.

Felis have a wonderful Easter weekend.

I am grateful.

Hello from winter! :smow: We had a forecast of 1-3" today and late this morning it started and is still going. Since it's a little above freezing, it isn't accumulating too much, but still . . . it is April 17!!

Thanks for the comments on the video and Black Horse. I am still so excited about that. And to Felis, about what to call it: painting will work as there is paint in it. I tend to call them drawings as that's how they start. Mixed media just means that it is a combination of things, in this case, collage, drawing in ink, paint, colored pencil.

Chris, the theme night sounds perfect for your family and the cookies look just right. I recently saw an ad for WWDITS and thought it looked outrageous but in context of your theme night I can see it. So glad this put you in a good mood (that and getting groceries.)

Trudy, hope you've done the grocery run without complications. We'll have to venture into that in a few days too. Not looking forward to it. What a relief that the package got to its destination and Mason wanted to thank you. What a neat kid - and wonderful grandmother! A clock sounds like a lovely and fun thing for your round piece. And hope you get to scrapping today.

Nancy, it must be hard not having hockey. I can barely think about baseball and don't watch nearly as much of it as you do hockey. Luther must be a poster dog for the walking too much of dogs (or I hope that's all it is.) Very sad to hear of your friend's dad. There is bound to be more connection of this to everyone as it progresses.

Felis, sorry the household is stressed, but hope there is still joy in the celebration of Easter.

Kay, good news about your improvement and the family getting your groceries and meds. I know you'll pace yourself and spend time relaxed and maybe reading. It'll be nice to have days with warm (but not too hot) weather.

Grateful I can share with you all and gripe about the weather too. ;)
