Just a quick opening up of the thread. I have a lot to do before my mom gets here to help me set up all of the food. And I still have a few more things to label and pack up. Ack!

Like I said to NancyP, I should never have said that yesterday was going to be an easy day. I totally 1000000% jinxed myself. I worked until 4.30. I had thought I would have been done by 1pm. ha!!!
Cait and her BFF made cookies and little cakes and they had fun listening to Christmas music while they were doing that.

Wonder what I am I am wearing today!

Wish the family luck!

good morning! It is really breezy but it is sunny! So it made for a great walk. The blowing leaves really pretty. Yesterday on my late afternoon walk I met the cutest 14 week old Weimaraner, Willow. Her owner was just coming back from puppy classes with my trainer Lorrie. The two dogs played so well together. Luther was a happy puppy! Not much going on today but more scrapping. My Devils are playing an afternoon game in Nashville so that will be fun to see. Then I can really watch which ever team I want.

Chris have a great open house! I know you will have fun! Relax and enjoy!

Trudy have fun this weekend getting ready for the trip. Good luck with getting the package mailed. Amazing how much shipping can cost when compared to the cost of what one is shipping LOL.

Rae thanks for selecting my page. My team has been away on a long road trip so I am finally able to try and catch up on my hockey pages. Poor Taz and his bum - you are a good mom to keep this under control.

Jean Christmas bird counts are fun because I love the results to see just how much has change and what the new unusual birds are.

Have a great day all!

Happy Saturday ladies... so much going on at the "O" today!! I hope you are all having a fun time with the Advent Celebrations happening here!! Today is a bit of shopping for some First Aid Items we think that we should have on hand for our trip. The usual stuff Imodium, Bandages, Polysporin and such, I need to get Tums also either that or learn to stay away from the Bread!!!!! I had a bowl of chilli for lunch yesterday and 1/2 of a bun and man my poor tummy complained all day long. I know it was not the chilli, because my homemade chilli is not that hot. I just can't tolerate any kind of white bread items. :mmph:

Chris - Sending you lots of positive vibes today and I know that you will make it through all of this!! Good luck my friend with your Open House!! I hope you make lots of $$ and like Nancy says Relax and have fun with it!!

Nancy - So cute that Luther is such a social butterfly!! Yes I am dreading the cost of the parcel I am sending, hopefully it won't be more than what the gifts cost :becky: I hope you get time to join in on the fun in forums today! Enjoy your hockey today also!

Jean - Tuna Pasta Salad sounds great!! I haven't made that in forever!! Glad you are having a great time at the Advent Celebration! The CheeryO's really put together an awesome Festive Time for everyone and its only just begun!!

Ok I need to grab some breakfast and then get busy here at the O for a bit. Have a great day today ladies!!

We had a super potluck and lots of talk, talk, talk. Genealogists sure can yak it up. Too much food as usual, but that means DH gets the tuna pasta salad for dinner tonight just like he wanted. A friend brought some chocolate cookies just for him too.

Chris, I'm thinking about your open house and sure that it is/has gone beautifully. Nice that Cait and friend could bake and enjoy the music. She sure sounds like a keeper. ;)

Nancy, you have such interesting times with Luther. He must be such a character. Too bad he isn't a good mix (yet?) with a Christmas tree. Does he give you time to see the birds when you walk?

Trudy, hope the shipping wasn't too dear. Glad you'll have first aid products but hope they aren't needed. Instead of bread, can you eat corn tortillas? Hope we'll see lots of Mexican photos soon.

Rae, NancyP, Buddy the Elf, and all: have a great weekend (and fun in the forum.)

GoooOd morning from very cold NJ. The temps dropped and the wind picked up like mad yesterday. I couldn't get warm all day long.
I know you all must be wondering how we made out yesterday and it was kind of a mixed bag. We definitely didn't have the turnout we would have liked. A bunch of Cait's friends was going to come and most of them had work schedule changes. Same with Scott. But Gary did amazing- his wine bottle holders sold out completely and he got an order for another one from a friend who also has Lyme and understands how it might take a long time to get finished. Scott sold a bunch of his hot sauce and what he has left over, he can sell at school. (Silly side note: Caitlyn was telling us a story of how the other day at school a kid came up to Scott, asked if he had "any of the stuff," Scott says, "yeah, right here," they pass money for the bottle. The security guard comes over and says that if he didn't know that they were talking about hot sauce, he would have to do some questioning of them :D )

Cait sold a few of her photos but would have sold more if I hadn't had to talk my mom out of buying 2 of them. We had picked out a deer and a butterfly for my parents as Christmas gifts and had them printed 8x10 months ago when Walgreen's has some freebies. We picked well because those were the 2 my mom has wanted. heh!!!
I did ok- much better than if I had been at a craft show and by 2.30 pm I was in my pjs. What I have leftover will be used for gift basket orders, and for stocking stuffers.

All in all, I would say it was decent. My house is really clean so I don't have to worry about doing anything crazy for Christmas day. Baskets are under control. Now I just have to think about baking/shopping/wrapping. :fear:

A bit more good news too. My IL's came up and my FIL checked out the lens on my camera. It is actually still being sold by Canon so he thinks that he will be able to ship it to them to be repaired. It is a $500 lens and worth getting fixed if it can be. The zoom lens is working but I need to have a 100% fresh battery. My batteries are as old as the camera so we think that if I get a new battery, it will shoot continuously again. I would be able to get 1-2 shots then it would freeze. Maybe in a month I will be camera-ready again!!!

Today, I have to pack my stuff away and set the house back to the usual chaos. We have the schedule set that we will get our tree on Thursday and who knows, maybe Caitlyn and I can start baking this weekend. I know that Caitlyn misses Brendan being here, but it is nice to have the media room back. We ordered pizza and watched Elf last night up there on the projector. (SHM- the things that we-- and I mean *Gary* -- would not have bought had we known pre-Lyme what life would be like now *wry smile* ). That was a lot of fun to be able to do that will all of us.

So that is that. Hope that all of you had a super day yesterday and an even better one today!

xoxoxoxo!

Quick ones from Friday:

Nancy- that is so funny and typical of guys, complain about something, then want more of it :) You must have done something right with the stew. heh!!!
It feels a bit "off" w/o Brendan, but is also feels more settled, if that makes any sense. Like the family unit is back square. Not sure if I can explain it in words...

Rae- I love parties here. Always so much fun! That is hysterical about Taz playing along with my girls. That is exactly how my LR looked too, white fluff in a big pile around Ray who lay there chewing on the empty shell. Would he like a piece of b-day cake with them too, we have one slice leftover. Poor guy at the vet. Icky but worth it.

Trudy- ohhh how excited you must be!!!!!!! I am so excited for you- this time tomorrow, you will be off to a wonderful time!!! Don't forget to have that drink on the beach for me!!!!
I know, it is so sad to think of Brendan having to up with the asshole step dad. He is going to be 21 in 2 weeks. Sounds mean of me, but that is another reason i was hoping for him to be out before then. Not that Caitlyn drinks, the few times that she has, she didn't like the effects or aftereffects. But I didn't want/need to worry about him bringing alcohol in the house. YKWIM?
how fun to shop in your sisters closet and you are going to look so cute on vacation.

Jean- The commenting game is always a blast, isn't it? How was your potluck? I am soooo freaking lucky to have kids who still like to hang with the "old folks." Even Leah loves to join in. *heart*

Ok, off to post this, then I am on to Saturday.

pfft!!! Nancy- blowing leaves are not pretty. LOL The way my house is set up, it is like a wind tunnel and all of the leaves pile up on the front steps and when you open the door they all blow inside. But better leaves than snow. Luther is so lucky to have so many dog friends to meet and play with.

Trudy- Yes, load up on Tums! I cannot imagine not having bread!! were you able to get the package shipped?

Jean- how awesome that you had a great time with your genealogy friends. I bet that everyone has fascinating stories to share. And yay for leftovers!!!

One more cup of heaven :cof1: and I had better get working on the house so I can relax this afternoon. Or at least attempt to relax.

good morning - well it is sunny and breezy and chilly but still not below freezing. Luther and I got in a good walk and lots of cats out today. He really wants those cats LOL. Came back from morning walk to see my DH had mopped the kitchen floor and started marinating steaks for dinner. Yea! Well my Devils made me so happy! It did not start out that way - the were down 4-1 at the start of the 3rd period. But they scored two goals in the first min and then the tied it on a power play. Then in the OT they scored with just 18 seconds left. Amazing. Just wish they would not make it so heart pounding. They are off until Tuesday which is home. I have missed seeing them for sure! Got my calendar done - now just need to get it to Staples for printing. yea. Still need to get Christmas cards done. Today is just scrapping and hockey and maybe some football.

Chris so happy the day went so well. My girlfriend does craft fairs and let me tell you she is so tired at the end of the day so I think your having an open house made so much more since! Glad you now have leftovers for your baskets and presents. Now you can enjoy the clean house and relax until Christmas! and sorry yes I think blowing leaves are pretty.

Trudy I don't know what I would do if I could not eat bread. I love sandwiches and don't think I could survive without grilled cheese or PB&J. Get lots of tums!

Jean your potluck sounds so fun. Lots of taking is great! And you DH got leftovers doubly good for you!

Have a great day all!

Morning ladies... very chilly but nice and sunny out today! Well it will be a busy Sunday of bottling wine and getting the suitcases out of the crawl space. Packing said suitcases and then cleaning the house a bit. We actually do not leave until the wee hours of the morning on Tues. so I still have an extra day to get things done while DH is at work on Monday. Getting excited to get going, although we heard that it is very hot where we are going and I hope that its not so hot that we can't go for walks on the beach!! Us Canucks are not used that kind of heat!
canad-fireworks-smiley.gif
we might melt!!

Chris - You have to put up with me for 2 more days before I head off to the beach, I wish you could come with us!! We could lay in the sun and melt into a puddle together! :becky: I think that I will be getting good use out of the hat that DH bought for me! Yes I did managed to get that parcel mailed and it was just as expensive as I figured it would be :mmph: Over $50 to mail a box of presents that will take 8 days to get to its destination. If I wanted it there sooner it would have been over $200!!!! Can you imagine?? The one bright side is that it is the only package that we have to mail out this year, thank goodness! I even checked with UPS and FedEx and they were not any cheaper. Oh well its done and I am feeling good that its one more thing off my to do list at least! I am so glad that your Open House went well and even if you did not sell everything, it sounds like you did alright!! Hooray for the clean house and nice that you don't have to worry about making any more baskets and stocking stuffers a real bonus!! I bet you are very happy that you did not have to do this at a Craft Fair, they are so very tiring!!

Nancy - It is cooler here today also and fresh snow on the mountain tops, looks so pretty with the sun shining on them! I love the snow as long as it stays on the mountain top! LOL Poor Luther, he would love to go chase him some Cats!! I guess that is what dogs do, they love to chase!! Wow your MG is a keeper, washing floors and making dinner what a guy!!! Lucky you! Wow that must have been quite the game yesterday! WTG Devils on coming back from behind and winning the game for you! Sounds like a nail bitter for sure! Good for you for doing Christmas Cards, I am being a real scrooge this year and not sending out any or very few at least. I usually do up a Christmas letter, but I doubt that will happen either. Perhaps a short one for emails this year, but nothing out in the mail. It is just so costly!!

Jean - How nice to have all the left overs for your hubby and you to enjoy! Sounds like your genealogy group are a fun bunch! I hope you continue to enjoy the Advent happenings here!

Ok I best get busy with :washing: etc. Have a great Sunday everyone!!

Good morning, ladies. I couldn't get into the O yesterday, gettng an error message, and then when it finally was working again, it was time for me to go out. Picked up Bailey, put the tree up, watched a movie, made a Chicken Mexican dish in the pressure cooker. We lazed around in the evening and went to bed at a decent time. Now today I'm showing her some scrapping stuff, giving her the basics of how it works and we'll watch another movie before she goes home after lunch. I have CT stuff to work on later so I'll be busy all day.

I'll come back later. Have a great day, everyone.
