Happy weekend! Have all of you recovered from the hectic times/emotions of the last few days? My brain is calmer - that is for sure, but recovered? Not even close! What a strange few days it has been. Christmas Eve felt wrong. None of it was the way it should be but we got to see everyone other than my BFF and her family. It was chilly standing in driveways but we made it home before the bad storm came through. The winds were so bad that we had chairs blown into the woods and it knocked over our grill. But thankfully, no trees down and no power outages here. The snow is all melted and is flooding into my basement but nothing was damaged, just soggy. Whew!
Christmas Day was fun with the four of us. The kids are the blessing of my life.
Jean- Scott loved Rita! He was confused at first since he was holding it upsidedown but as soon as he turned it around he was loving it.
My parents drove up to see us later and only spent 15 minutes with us on the patio but it was good to see them. My mom had asked the kids to burn her a CD of the Grateful Dead songs she liked and they took it one step further-- make that a huge leap further- and did an intro and then commentary between songs. At the end, they had a blooper reel.

Gary and I were watching TV at night and my mom called and she scared the **** out of me!!!! She could barely talk and I thought she was crying. Nope. She was halfway through the CD and was laughing so hard she could hardly breathe.

Today I need to see what I can do to set my house back to order. Cait asked me if I could go with her to take Cordelia to the vet, the urinary infection is back again so I will need to work around an appt if she can get one. :(
Oh -- fab news-- Ray had a very good day, she was so happy getting lots of new treats and toys. I honestly did not think she would be with us a couple of weeks ago. I guess the meds needed some time to work binding up the toxins in her blood.

I have to wake Cait up so she can call the vet as soon as they reopen. Yes, I need to wake my 22 yo Grad student up

Be back in a bit!

Trudy- How did your ILs do with being alone on Christmas? I hope they were able to enjoy it as best they could. And you guys as well? Was Santa good to the grandkids? I am sure that they were very happy despite it all.

Rae- I hope that B is continuing to be safe and healthy! Did Caitlyn's stickers ever get to you?

Jean- TY again for Rita! Your card is beautiful!

Kay- I have to admit, it was funny watching my niece trying to walk my ILs through the Zoom process. Your family seems to have it down pat.

Nancy- I am happy that you have hockey to watch, that must make the days feel a bit more normal for you. I hope that you didn't get the same amount of flooding that we did, probably not since you didn't get as much snow?
We should try to meet somewhere in the middle- you have to be about 1.5 hours from me? That would be fun!

Cheryl- it is Moving Day!! Congrats and good luck! Your card is gorgeous!

Felis- What is a family if not dysfunctional? ;) I am glad that you had that time together, it truly is precious!

Sorry for being so brief with these, I have a mess of a house/kitchen on my hands and have no idea when we are heading to the vet. I still have laundry in my dryer from 4 days ago. eep.

I had lovely Christmas day, exactly as I wanted it. Lots of movies and food! And today I'm waiting online concert. :D:drum:
We don't have snow and I'm very disappointed, but this allowed us to meet uncles and aunt at their gardens, which is much better than the plan at first!
My cat is feeling much better, for now her infection looks under control, which was one small Christmas miracle.

Love you all!

Woke up at 3 AM and couldn't go back to sleep so got up for awhile. Finally got sleepy so crawled back in bed at 6 and slept until 8:30. Feel more rested now. Still have the head cold but it doesn't seem as bad this AM. Talked to DD#3 yesterday and she has had a cold for the past week, too. DD#2 called me yesterday and we talked for almost an hour. So good to get caught up with happening with them since their move. The on-line with the great-grands didn't happen... but we have the family chat tomorrow. DD#2 had set up the on-line thing a few months ago... took us time to get the right app so we could see at least 4 at once. Now it is easy as we know when/what/how. Ooops... be right back... I forgot to turn the heat up so I can shower once it is warmer. Need to shampoo the hair.

Got all the Christmas decorations packed away for this year. Nice to see the living/dining room back to normal. Glad I only put out a few things so it was finished in less than an hour.

Chris, sounds like the kids were full of it and helped you all get through this 'different' Christmas. Glad your mom got such a kick out of the kids' gift to her. Hope you get the house set back the way you want it. Glad to hear that Ray made it through the holiday. Wow... that was some wind storm you had. Glad no trees were blown down. Hope you found all the chairs and other things that were blown into the woods.

Cheryl, am thinking of you and your big move today. What an exciting [and exhausting] day it will be. Let us know once you are settled in. Can't wait to see photos.

Trudy, hope you had a nice day. Wow - 50 yrs for the inlaws and this is their 1st Christmas with just the 2 of them. Quite a change.

Rae, glad to hear that B is doing okay. Hope you got to share part of the holiday with her on-line. Technology has made the separations easier during this year.

Felis... family can be frustrating at times but they can give us love, too.

Only one more week and we can say good-bye to 2020 and hope that 2021 will be much better.

Our state has set up a pre-registration site for Covid vaccination. It will be based on work, exposure, age as to what tier group you are placed in. I signed up yesterday. As a senior, my group will be after front-line workers, emergency responders, those working in senior care home plus those seniors. It will be done by appointment only. Don't think I will get one until some time in late Feb or March. But good to know I will in the queue for one.

Christmas Eve it started really snowing leaving us with a new 15" of snow! And last night it was only 16*. But we weren't going anywhere so it didn't matter. We had a lovely day and now I'm doing a load of :washing: as I gave DH a shirt that needs washing before wearing. Also have a loaf of apple nutty bread in the oven. Later DH's brother will call so we can set him up with a Zoom session as we gave him a web cam for Christmas. We sent a package full of cat toys to the evil cat and he emptied them all out at once and she had a grand time playing with every one. Plus the box we shipped things in is now her toy box.

Chris, sounds like things went well (or as well as they could) for your holiday. Sorry Scott's first look at the Rita piece was upside down. Love the story of the CD the kids made for their grandma. Are you really the only person in the house who can clean up the afterwards? I just want to tell you to chill, but know how futile that is. Can you just sit down with a lovely photo and scrap? The page with the cards was nice! Wonderful that Ray had a good time too.

Felis, so nice you had a good time with a concert online today. I like that you dressed up a male "doll" for the challenge and it was a good looking page too. Also happy that the kitty is doing better.

Kay, wow, what a disrupted night you had. Hope you really are getting over the cold. I'm amazed that you clear away Christmas immediately. I love having the decorations at least till Jan. 6 (and some of them like the door swag much later.)

Cheryl, we're all thinking of you and your move today. Hoping it all goes smoothly and looking forward to the pictures.

Nancy, did I hear that the Canadian hockey was going to be played in the home arenas after all? Seemed to me they did a great job with the playoffs but I bet the players would be happier to be home part of the time. Did you get snow? And when's the bird count?

Rae, hope all went smoothly with B and that you all had a good day.

Hugs from the great white north! :smow:

Jean, one reason is that Christmas was when my husband got so bad...he passed away Jan 8th...so the holidays remind me of that difficult time. This year was harder with being alone.

GooOd Sunday morning to you all! :hat:
How was everyone's day yesterday, getting settled back into a regular routine, not the "routine" of chaos and disorder? I am getting myself caught up on laundry and most of the gifts are put away. We are trying to figure out when to take the tree and decorations down. We will need all of that packed and back into the attic before we move Cait's room into the family room. Gary and Caitlyn picked up some of the stuff they need to work on her floor from Lowe's. Everything has to be moved out- including her rats ;) I am not looking forward to that and I know that she and Gary aren't either. Scott will probably head to Leah's for a couple of days if he can.

The earliest that Dilly can get seen by the vet is Tuesday but thankfully, she is doing a bit better, Cait is wondering if she might be getting kidney or bladder stones which could be causing the irritation and buildup. I had a cat who had bladder stones and "sludge" that caused him a lot of trouble and some of it seems a bit similar. But she is peeing and that is by far the most important thing ATM.

Today should mostly be a putter-y day. Some desk work, catching up on any bills that need to be taken care of before the end of the month. I have a scrap page in mind for a Jan. Challenge. And I think that is about it. I mean, there is a lot more to do but I will get to it when I can.

What good stuff do you have going on?

Felis- I am so happy for you that you had a nice holiday. Who were you watching for the concert? I am so happy that your cat is doing better too! I panic when the pets are sick around the holidays, trying to find a vet that is open on a holiday is never easy or cheap.
Love to you too!!!

Kay- As much as I love decorating for all of the holidays, I also breathe a bit easier when the house is less cluttered. Between the furniture being moved, gifts and boxes, stacked in corners, dogs and people in the kitchen, I was getting so stressed at dinnertime.
How nice to be able to catch up with your DDs and have a great time with the family Zoom today.
I keep looking out my window and seeing the chair/table in the forsythia and then I see how cold it is- they can wait to be retrieved LOL We had sustained winds of 60-70 MPH.
That is such a relief that you are on the list for the vaccine! I hope that it goes quickly until you get called.

Jean- ACK!!! :fear: all of that snow! Yup, the one good thing is that we have nowhere to go this year. *g* I would have loved to see the evil cat when she played with new toys- and the box, naturally. Everyone is in charge of cleaning up their own stuff but the kitchen tends to be my domain since it is too small for more than one person to really be in there at the same time. (When Cait and I baking it is different- we are so in sync that we aren't in each other's way. Not to mention we are both small. Gary is so much bigger than us and he will stand in the middle of the area oblivious to the rest of us. hahaha!!!!)
I finished a puzzle yesterday that had been started weeks and weeks ago and today I am going to scrap so I will have a bit of downtime.

Kay- Christmas Day is very hard for Leah and Arlene for the same reason. Leah's dad passed away on Christmas Day a year or two before she and Scott met. He had colon cancer and was sick for most of her life :( This year it was even more important that Arlene was able to come up and be with us, she said how much she missed hugging another person. I am glad they are in our bubble. Virtual hugs and conversations are not the same-- another reason why I am so happy for you that you are on the list to get vaccinated- it has to be a good feeling to know there *is* light at the end of the tunnel. Sending hugs and love to you always but esp. over the next few weeks.

Thinking of all of you, my dear Oooos! xoxo

Good Morning ladies... I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! I got very spoiled and DH got me an Instapot which I used last night to cook a whole chicken. It was the most moist chicken I have ever had!! Yummmm!!! I also got a pair of Blundstone Boots  but I need to return to the store as I would like to see if a 1/2 bigger will fit me better. We had a fun time doing a zoom with all the kids and grands and man it was chaotic LOL. I am sorry that I have not been here much, but we have been having a lovely time just spending time together and talking with the kids as much as we can! So I need to get ready to go downtown and hopefully it will not be busy at the shoe store this morning. I promise I will catch up with all of you very soon! Enjoy your Sunday ladies and enjoy the quiet time together!! I love all of you so much and hope that you will have a lovely Sunday! Talk soon!

Good morning everyone. I mostly stayed offline since Xmas Eve Day. B was hospitalized that morning, very sick. Blood sugars were in the high 40's and climbing. She had been vomiting since the previous night but no one knew, she was found lying amongst it in bed the next morning.

Because of her brain damage, Jen was allowed into the ICU with her. They tested covid, mri, blood work, etc, giving meds and IV antibiotics. She started to improve later Xmas night. She will be in ICU this wk as they try to figure out what was happening. Her covid test was negative but something caused her heart, liver and kidney problems. They are suspecting some kind of infection that invaded her body and starting shutting down organs. It's all complicated by her diabetes and abnormal brain function.

We are thankful she is now improving but they don't know what from yet. Jen spent Xmas Day at the hospital and I cooked a small turkey for her and D to eat when she came home that night. We opened one gift and then watched a movie before going to bed.

Yesterday they asked Jen not to come, to let her rest and they could continue the testing. We opened the rest of our gifts last night. I'm glad Xmas is over. Now we just pray that B recovers.

As for Noel, he dropped 4 lbs this month so he is probable going to be gone this week. Poor kitty. All he wants to do is snuggle with us, especially D now.

What a holiday this turned out to be. Hope you all had a much better holiday than us. I sure hope 2021 is a better year.

Hello everybody!! I've been a very bad Oooozie, but a very busy one!

Thanks for all of your thoughts - Nancy - we have been working like a bunch of dogs around here!

Girls - we got moved in!!! Sorry I haven't been around, but we've worked so hard and I don't really have internet yet. We're having to use our phones as hot spots. Thank the phones for that ability!

I can't believe that we slept in our new home last night and woke up here this morning!

Rae, I'm SO sorry that you've had such a sad Christmas. :( Sending you lots of hugs and to Noel, also.

I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas (I'm sorry for those who had a hard time). I've had hard times in the past too, but this year was the best Christmas ever!

We love our new little cozy home and I promise to update the album soon. I've been too busy to take many pictures and didn't take any on moving day. My grandson, Cameron, decided to fly out at the last minute, so we even had him here.

As long as my phone holds out, I promise to try to be around more. I'm still on track to do Vicki's Challenge on January 1st. It's mostly done, anyway. Using my phone for a hotspot is wonderful, but it's kind of slow for moving the big files that we use. Oh well, I can't ask for everything, can I???

Love you all and sending lots of big hugs. You'll probably want to fire me after this month because I doubt I've met my quotas for the first time. I'll try to make up for it.
