The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
Baking Day is Here!!!
:baking1:

I was out of bed at 5 am and *literally* the first thing I did was take the butter and cream cheese out of the fridge. 3 packs of cream cheese and 4 lbs of butter are on cooling racks on the counters. Then I scurried off to the bathroom. ;)
I still need to clean and organize the kitchen before we start. I did a little work before I headed out for the day yesterday but yikes, the whole house is chaotic. The DR table is where we set everything out to cool and that is currently covered with books and puzzles I am selling/donating at the Winter Wonderland fair Weis is hosting tomorrow.

The people I work with are so awesome. The get-together was so low-key and all we did was chat and snack around the table. When I was in TJ Maxx, I bumped into my kids' 2nd-grade teacher! I asked if she was Ms Blau and she recognized me immediately. I was shocked at that. What is that, 20 years ago, give or take? And I know she got them right because she said that they were some of her favorite students (that part isn't what I mean BTW, she might say that to all parents/guardians she sees) but that Scott made her work for it. Even in 2nd grade, he was a .... "challenge." Bwuahahaha!

I'm going to do quick personals and see what I can do to organize the baking space before Caitlyn wakes up.

HAGD! xoxoxo

I know that I share that same photo of Caitlyn and the butter every year but it cracks me up to no end every time I see it. Just have to share that with you whether you find it silly or not.
(It *is* silly though. Right? Right! Glad we cleared that up :rotfl:)

@vickyday hope you had an easy trip to the DMV -- if such a thing exists.

@BrightEyes Lots of good thoughts are still being sent to DD#1
Hope that you had a successful day of running errands and got everything you needed, including parking spaces. They are at a premium this time of year.

@taxed4ever You have been so busy that it must have felt wonderful to be home and puttering about. That feeling of forgetting someone or something is a staple in my brain. (Staple as in "pantry staple" not a fastener staple. That would hurt)
That's great that the Gardens tickets don't expire since you will be busy having so much fun with the family! Have you started packing yet?

@AK_Tracy hahah! I know you would laugh at the picture of Caitlyn!
Breath my friend breath!!!!! No fetal position hiding. You just gotta breath!!!! How do you feel this week after the osteoporosis meds? Did your body react better this time around?
I might need a paper bag for breathing/hyperventilating assistance on occasion. TJ Maxx is one of the most anxiety-producing stores. I need a drink when I leave there :drunk:
Yes! This month was so much easier with the side effects. I had some hip pain from Tuesday to Wednesday but it was not even close to as bad as that first month.

BWUHAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
:lol23: :rotfl: :floorlaugh:
That spoon/knife meme is *hysterical!!!!!!!!*
You might be better around people than I am but when my social battery runs out (AKA: burns out in a flaming mess), I feel "stabby." So that image is totally relatable! TFS!!!

@Cherylndesigns Big hugs, my dear friend. I think of you every day. This time of year- on all counts- must be incredibly difficult. Maybe the wandering around is a good thing, gives your brain some downtime and allows you to process everything from a slight distance.

Tracy-- not sure what McDonalds and Dodd but feet up with a cold beer sounds wonderful.

Kay-- you need an entire house to store all of your books. I visualize you as Belle in that scene from Beauty and the Beast as she songs about her library LOL
That's soooo awesome to have seen the wolf!!!!

@vickyday I should have known better than to wish you an "easy" DMV trip.
Awwww, how sweet of Ilene to give you the poinsettia.
Good luck with the car!
See, this is why I have to share that photo-- to spread the joy and laughter of my kooky DD to new people every year :D

@mimes1 :woohoo: CONGRATS on finishing the Christmas shopping
(*not jealous, not jealous, not jealous*)

*gasping for breath*

Tracy and Amy--- that recipe convo had me :coffeescreen:

Love you all sooooo very much!! Thank you for making me start my day with a smile

Morning ladies... it is very rainy and very, very windy this morning! We are warming up the house in preparation of the possibility of the power going out. I have to be quick in and out of here as DH wants some breakfast and then we are heading out the door to do our usual running around. That is as long as the power doesn't go out all over the place! Ugh more branches to clean up, we have some very large trees around us and it always freaks me out to see them swaying around in the wind! Anyway I just wanted to pop in to say hello :wavinghello: and hope that you all have a wonderful weekend!

See! I knew you could relate!!! And yes, that's what made it funny is when the spoons are gone and its still peoply out there, all ya got are knives. :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh: :knifehead:

Oh Trudy, stay safe. That wind sounds bad. I hope youre power stays on and you get your errands done without issue.

Today is work. Including today I. have three work days left. But that also means there are only. 3 weekends left of the year. :wow2:
Today I have to finish the SOP for work, then decide how to put it together. 3ring binder? Staple? Laminate? Do I have enough laminate? Hmmmm gotta check that. Off to get coffee.

Good morning to all. Slept in a bit this morning because I was reading late (11PM). The kitchen island is covered with mail, DVDs, and books that I picked up yesterday. At least I took the time yesterday to handwrite the list of the new DVDs I bought into the DVD inventory notebook. Will move the books from the public library onto the divider between the kitchen and family room... so I know those need to be read first. The books from the Senior Citizen Center will go into my bedroom as I can read them at my leisure (no due date). And need to sort and file the mail. I really need the island to be cleared off for me to relax. I know that I am worn out if it stays cluttered for very long. So today is a clear it off.

My next big chore is to work on the DVD collection. I had bought the Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons yesterday as it was not in my inventory... and discovered this morning that I already have it!! So, #1, I need to compare the DVDs I have to the inventory and get the inventory on the computer up to date: #2, put the over-flow of DVDs in alphabetical order and place them where they belong in the bookcase: #3 Figure out where to store the excess ones as the bookcase is full! (Of course I can do this all in one day...:floorlaugh::rotfl::floorlaugh:!!) In the meantime the stacks of DVDs not in the bookcase grows taller and taller! Oh, and I mustn't forget the DVDs that I want to watch ASAP that are on the TV console stand!!! :rotfl:

Now that the 12 Days of December big push is over, I hopefully will find time to work on stuff around the house.

Have fun baking! And be easy on your body! SIT when you feel the need!

Good Afternoon!
Today is laundry day!

Bad news.......the engine light came on again this morning when I went to Ilene's to get my coffee thermos I left in her car yesterday! GRRRRR! Mark decided we would keep the car for the week and give the mechanic a break! He was all smiles when we picked up the car yesterday when he "thought" he finally had it fixed!

More bad news.....I think my EHD that had all of my kits on it has crashed! I put it in my other laptop that I normally have it scanned and repaired when it quits working for some reason on my MAC.......but it scanned about half of it and then stopped working! I unplugged it, turned off the laptop and will try again later! This morning I have spent my time re-downloading the kits I have gotten through December.....putting them on a 32GB thumb drive. Hopefully that will work for now! But all of my pages for this month are on the bad EHD.....not to mention all of the ones I have done this year. Most of the ones up until about October I had printed at Persnickety already. But since then.......I may not be able to retrieve! :banghead:

Such is life!
Have a great weekend!

Oh, and I mustn't forget the DVDs that I want to watch ASAP that are on the TV console stand!!! :rotfl:

I am in shock. :wow2: . I actually got #2 and #3 done!!! Realized that there were several empty sliding shelves in the large TV cabinet right next to the Bookcase I have the DVDs stored in. Moved all the Multi-movie DVDs plus the TV series and specials from the lower shelf of the bookcase onto those shelves. It is so easy to read the titles as there is space between the ones in back and those in front. Then gathered up all the scattered DVDs, put them in alphabetic order on the sofa in the office. Then it was a matter of creating space in the right place in the bookcase. :wow: :woohoo:

Decided to wait until I get the inventory up to date on the computer, print the list out and then compare it to the DVDs I have (#1).
Ready to put the feet up and watch one of those DVDs... :D

Good morning! Happy Sunday to you all!
It is extremely cold here -- 16*-- I wonder if that is colder than at Tracy's house today. Tell me again why I like to work at an ecology center, outdoors? Hmmm???
I must like it, as I dreamt about it last night. I dreamed that I decided to work at a preschool since the homeschool/field trips are over for the next few weeks. After a few hours, I was in tears because I realized I had made a huge mistake and had to quit. Pretty funny!
Today is the Winter Wonderland Fundraiser Event so it will be freezing out there. The second-hand items are in the cabins and I am not sure if I will be in there or working out and about. Either way, I am gonna be in *layers.* Lots of 'em. I have my hand warmers charged up and I'll dig out my heated vest.

Yesterday's baking was super-successful. Cait and I kept saying to each other how we seemed to be cruising along. We were done by 3.30 which is way, way earlier than usual. We only legit broke a few of the walnut cups out of the 11 dozen we made. We think we made 8-9 dozen of the walnut balls and they are all tucked nicely into the freezer.

Before I head out to work today, I want to get as much of the grocery order ready. I am cleaning for both friends this week so the "extra" time off from HS is out the window. Tomorrow I have set aside to sort and wrap so I can figure out who needs what else.
Thursday and Friday will be for making the food gifts. That is as long as I figure out what I am making everyone. I have recipes for vegan popcorn seasoning for Tom but other than that-- no idea. :crying1:

Wishing all of you a cozy and relaxing day!

I'm so worth it!
You are! That subscription is such an amazing deal, isn't it? Can't wait to see what ketchup-y goodness you come up with as you use the kits :p

@taxed4ever Oh my, I hope that you and your Gary made it through the storms without blowing away
:windy1:
Or losing power.
@faerywings What have I missed? Moses? Are you sleeping in a basket? Talking to a burning bush? Or are you lost in the desert?
All of the above! LOL
Ona was teasing me about how I have been at the O for so very long, I was here when Moses brought the tablets down from the mount. I think that was a polite way of saying I'm older than dirt. :giggle4:

@AK_Tracy This time of year I am always in lower social-spoon territory and the best thing ever is online shopping. I was ready to take some of the knives out of their packages in the Kitchen aisle at TJ Maxx the other day. I was there on a Friday morning. Can you imagine how  and :knifehead: I'd be on the weekend?

(pssst... FBI guy I am only joking, I am not really gonna stab anyone in TJ Maxx. I mean, think of how long would it even take me to unwrap a knife. Less time than a Barbie doll but still long enough where I would get tackled by security.)

What a crazy bunch of thoughts that must be going through your mind re: work and and next year. It must be little roller-coaster-y. More than a little if I were you. Big hugs!

@BrightEyes Your house sounds like mine, piles of *stuff* everywhere. I also have buckets and tubs and tins of baking ingredients all over too. Makes me feel very cluttered inside. My mom always said clean house, clean mind. When I am worried, I "stress clean" rather than stress eat. I wish I had the time and energy to get some of that done.
I really need the island to be cleared off for me to relax. I know that I am worn out if it stays cluttered for very long. So today is a clear it off.
This!!!^^^
I hope you were able to get everything done that you could do without overdoing it. (How is that for a grammatically bad sentence?? LOL)
Have fun baking! And be easy on your body! SIT when you feel the need!
I did good!! I also pre-gamed with some Advil. That helped. :rotfl:
:rollingpin1: NO WAY!!!! I can't believe the engine light came back on. Honestly, I totally believe it, Sam has the same stupid issue with her car. The only reason she tries to get it fixed is it won't pass inspection.
And the EHD on top of it. :banghead:
Not a good week for electronics. *fingers are crossed that everything gets recovered*

Kay :highfive: on getting the DVDs organized and inventoried! What did you watch last night?

Hugs to you all!

Well, I joined just a year after you. We can be old together!

UNFORTUNATELY.......the EHD would not repair in my other laptop as usual. It got about halfway and then stopped. I tried again overnight.....same thing! I don't know if it is recoverable or not! The thing I hate is losing all of my scrapbook pages I have ever done.....including the ones I haven't printed out yet! AND now I'm going to have to redownload all of my kits! GOOD GRIEF, CHARLIE BROWN!!!!!:furious::rollingpin1::desk3::banghead::stupicpc:

That's the only reason we are working (well I guess having the mechanic continue) working so hard to find the problem is because of the inspections. Fortunately, I just had the inspection in August, so we have almost a year for him to figure it out! By then we probably could have just bought a new car! What to do.......What to do????? :banghead::rollingpin1::furious::cuffed:

Good morning,
Quick in and out for me as I need to get in the shower for church.

Does anyone know of a reputable place to send an EHD for recovery? I could not get my EHD repaired yesterday as I usually have been able to do. It gets half way and then just stops! All of my scrapbook pages are on it from forever ago to the ones I have done this year that I have not printed yet. Also all of my store kits from the time I joined the CT here, maybe 4 years ago! :bawling:

AND the engine light came back on!

Time for a shower! Maybe my attitude will change!

Have a great Sunday!

Morning, all. Hope everyone is having a good day.
Walked into the kitchen this morning and had a big smile on my face... the island was empty and the kitchen was clean!!! It was well worth the effort I put in to get everything put away yesterday. @faerywings I watched "The High and the Mighty" with John Wayne... yes, it is an oldie and I had forgotten that there was a quite a bit of "over-acting" by many of the actors/actresses - more than was usual for John Wayne's movies!!! :giggle4: Had me laughing and shaking my head at them!! Instead of the suspense that it was intended to portray... I would get the giggles watching them "ham it up"!!! :floorlaugh:

Glad you an Cait had a good day baking yesterday... and WOW... I am impressed by how many cookies, etc you finished! Sorry about you nightmare.

@vickyday So sorry to hear that there is on-going problems with the car!!! Oh, I am so sorry to hear about the ExHD problem!!! YIKES!!! Hope you can find someone who can repair or retrieve everything. :hug2:

@tanteva Yes, you deserve the 2025 Inspirations as a gift to yourself!! :claphands:

@taxed4ever Sure hope the wind didn't do much damage at your place. I am sure you will get everything done and ready for the trip to be with the family.

Time to get a :showering:and get dressed. CYL

Good Morning O Fam.

It is extremely cold here -- 16*-- I wonder if that is colder than at Tracy's house today. Tell me again why I like to work at an ecology center, outdoors? Hmmm???
Yep, your colder then me. We're 21* and got a dusting of snow last night but not they say were gonna get freezing drizzle. DIdn't know that was a weather term but it must be as they used it. UGH I need snow not ice.
(pssst... FBI guy I am only joking, I am not really gonna stab anyone in TJ Maxx. I mean, think of how long would it even take me to unwrap a knife. Less time than a Barbie doll but still long enough where I would get tackled by security.)

I have no idea and our options are limited but what about Best Buy? Could the Geek Squad maybe help?

Just a belly button post. Have to feed dogs and shovel 6" snow to get to my car. One shovel wide path so I can not get snow in my sandals. :floorlaugh: Have a wonderful day!!

Good morning ladies. I've had a busy couple of days with a Xmas party on Friday night which was a lot of fun, then Xmas photos of the dogs with Santa on Sat, followed by a few hours at the legion where I won the 50/50 ($150). Then a friend and I went to our small movie theater and saw 7 international Xmas themed shorts and then a Portuguese (but English speaking) Hallmark type of rom-com Xmas movie. There was audience participation with Q/A with one of the writer/directors there, and then two did a zoom meeting with us. We had coquitos (kind of a coconut eggnog type of drink) and some Portuguese pastries at intermission, along with photos with Mr and Mrs Clause. We had to vote on our favorite shorts and the movie was a big hit. If you are interested, here is the link to the short I enjoyed the most.
war games christmas truce

The movie we saw was nochebuena.

Got home late and climbed into bed with the dogs and fell asleep almost right away.

Today I'm home except for dog walking and groceries. I will give Darrell his first mahjong introduction this afternoon, just explain the tile groupings and the premise of the game.

@faerywings We are about the same temps as you. December seems to be cold but not as cold as Jan/Feb are so we are enjoying this tolerable cold weather before the big drop hits next month.

@vickyday I feel your gloom about the EHD failure. I've gone thru that a few times. Now I back up all my photos and digi stuff on backblaze.

@tanteva Eva - the 52 inspirations is awesome, so much variety to play with. Enjoy it.

I'm getting an other coffee, then shower/dress, head out for walk with Remi and then groceries. I'll be able to enjoy being at home for the rest of the day. HAGD

I love those old John Wayne movies.....or any of the old-times ones, but you are right.....some times they are so corny! Just makes you laugh! And when you compare "Lost in Space" to today's space odysseys, it is definitely a laughing matter!

Yes, the car is going to be the death of our mechanic!

We talked to a friend of ours who is a computer guru.....he said he is afraid we are probably going to have to find a data-retrieval company to try to recover everything! It will be worth the money to me. Now, I'm thinking I need to do something else with my pictures that date back to the 1950's because they are all on the same type of EHD. Generally Seagate is a reliable product, so I guess even they have lemons! But, I don't want to lose my pictures! I think I would be devastated!

Good Morning O Fam.

I'll see what our computer guru friend says. He may have a good suggestion! But Best Buy may be the only option!
