It is Cookie Baking Day here. Yum! I make the family very angry since we are not allowed to eat them. They go right into the freezer until Christmas since we give them as gifts. Now if one or two should just happen to break, then they are fair game. :)

I have to clean the kitchen up a bit and the DR table so I have a place to keep them to cool. I still have empty boxes from the ornaments to put away. I put a few in the attic yesterday but it is freezing up there! My poor hands couldn't take it.

My friend that I clean for gave me a gift card to the TJ MAXX in town, she didn't want to give me cash b/c she knew thatI would use it on food. She didn;t think I would give it to Caitlyn b/c the clothes there aren't her style either. They aren't, Cait dresses much more edgy, if you haven't noticed from any LOs of her. Although come to think of it, most of my pages are of my dogs or of pictures that she has taken.
She also told me that the Food Pantry is open today since last week was the Holiday Bazaar. We will take a break from the kitchen and head over there and get some stuff to tide us over a bit.

I am supposed to be doing something tomorrow- I know, No wonder I blocked it. I have to help both kids with their Financial Aid applications for school next semester. I hate that.
But that is to worry on another day.

Much love to all of you! Stay warm, seems like the temps all over North America are cold. ::grouphug

Nancy- rant away, that sounds so unfair and uncalled for with that happened to your player. I hope that the Players Safety Dept looks into this, it is not right. I am really angry too about the commentators. Why is everyone so darn *rude* and inconsiderate? I get it is a hockey game but to laugh?
Hope that Luther was good waiting until the weather warmed up a bit.
Yeah, it is really neat having Scott learn so much about plants. My mom got him a Hori Hori knife for Christmas and I think I am going to head over to the Garden Center and pick up and air plant at some point. He had shown me a bunch that he had designed but they were all gone, but they are still really cool.

NancyP- how much snow did you end up getting? And how much for tomorrow? We are supposed to get snow/ice tomorrow into Monday but I am not sure how much.
:pound: That is too funny what you have to do with Cupcake. BFF would have to use a hair dryer to get the snowballs all tangled in Mackenzie's fur after she was outside. She was their little fluff ball who loved running and digging in the snow.
How neat to be a (retired *grin* ) Interior Designer. I have no sense of style whatsoever.

Rae- clean snow is nice to look at from inside, but it never lasts very long, right? I saw one of your photos of Taz yesterday on FB, my goodness you are such a fantastic photographer. I am so jealous! He is a wonderful model as well.
3-15"??? Now, that is some CYA predicting hahaha!! Can't go wrong!

There he is!! What a cutie!!!! *woofs from my girls who want to play with him*

Jean- that is great news about your furnace getting fixed. Hope it wasn't to $$. In case you haven't heard me say it yet (tee-hee!)- I adore my family and we really do have so much fun together.

I know that I speak for all of the Cheery Os- that we love what we do to make the parties and forums fun and engaging. We appreciate hearing that you all like it too.

good morning - my poor Devils are in the midst of a real downswing and lost to the Blues 4-1. Again not making excuses but the refs and linesmen are so bad that they missed an icing call and the Blues scored when the play should have been stopped. Instead my team is down 2-0. I know they should be able to get it together but after 3 straight games of the officials giving the advantage to the other team I would think it would weigh on them. Oh well they next play the NY Rangers in NYC on Sunday night. Rangers are doing really well and Lundqvist their goalie always play well against my team. I slept until 8:30 this morning. Guess I was tired. Luther is going for a walk with my DH as I just have been having stomach cramps and it sucks. Hopefully it was something I ate and it will be gone soon. Luther is being very good and waiting pretty patiently. I will try and get some pages done. And of course there are hockey games starting at 1pm.

Chris have fun baking today! I am sure that your family is mad that after smelling all that good baking not to get to eat any! LOL. How fun to get a give card and you should use it for a change! I am glad the food pantry is there for you. Love the page with the buck! those were some antlers.

NancyP yes Luther loves the snow and maybe tomorrow we will get some before it all turns to rain and slop! Usually it gets colder after snow not warmer. Weather is so weird here. How much did you get? Cute your description of Cupcake!

Rae your photo of Taz is so cute! How much snow did you get? It looks beautiful. Hope the ankle is getting better!

Jean so glad to read that the furnace is fixed and you are warm again. Also glad you did not get too much snow!

Have a great day all!

Good afternoon, ladies. We got much more snow than we thought we'd get. I have lost count of how many times I was out shoveling yesterday, each time I went out there would be another 4" or so piled up on the car, driveway and stairs. I think we got over a foot in total. Taz loved it and was outside constantly as I shovelled. We're in a cul-de-sac so he could run up and down the street and no one was driving anywhere so it was quiet and he could play safely. Then we went across the street to the river and it was beautiful. This morning the kids came over and we all went out for a walk along the water. Then back home to shovel again. The rain has started but the temps are supposed to keep dropping, starting later tonight and carrying on for the next week. The prediction is for very icy conditions and probably lots of power outages with freezing lines and wet snow problems. So if I disappear for a bit it'll be because the power went out. I dug the car out and am heading to the store for a few food items in case we get stuck for a few days with the ice. They don't usually plow and salt our side roads here so it could be tricky.

I felt bad that I totally forgot about posting the SMILE challenge but I see it got posted. I've been so preoccupied with all this snow. Good thing is I got a lot of photos of Taz and the snow so it'll be fun to scrap.

Gotta go, ladies...have a great day. I'm going to try to make it to the store and back safely before the temps start dropping. Luckily right now it's 33 so not too bad. Keep your fingers crossed we keep our power.

Sorry, totally forgot I never posted here today. Got up early (for me) to "attend" a genealogy/computer talk via Join.Me in Arlington, Virginia. Had problems with audio, but eventually got that too. With a break it went to about noon. Then things to do. We got snow last night but only four or five inches that quickly shrunk some today but below freezing all the time.

Chris, such a continuing delight to see you having happy things to post. Have an easy Sunday and keep it going! Good luck with the financial forms.

Nancy, Sorry the Devils didn't do it for you last night! Luther sure keeps you hopping it seems.

Rae, ouch with all that snow and worse now with ice. Keep safe and warm. Hope the power stays on.

cold, cold, cold!!! it is 19* right now. Yuck!!! We are going to get snow tonight into tomorrow so it will be a nice day to stay inside in my blanket.
Trudy!!!! Are you melting yet???? Send us your sunshine!

Yesterday was a very successful cooking baking day. We only got 2 kinds done, but a lot of them. 12 doz or so of the Walnut Cups (tassies) and 7 doz of the Walnut Balls (Russian Tea cakes). Sadly (LOL), only a few of them broke so we didn't get to snack on too many but I did leave a few out so we all got a taste.

Because I can never have a day to just simply "be," yesterday was no different. While we were waiting for the Walnut Balls to cool, Cait and I went to play with her rats. Who, I will add, are so darn cute. The problem is that I am allergic to them. When I hold them, I break out in small hives. They go away soon after so it is never an issue.
Except when I get fur in my eye. I was absolutely fine and then felt like something got in my eye. I went downstairs, took my contacts out and my eye was not only beet red, but you could see the conjunctiva swelling. GROSS!!!! It bubbled up on the one side, then down to the bottom. I rinsed, warm compresses, and Benadryl but even this morning there is still a bit of bubble left. At least it isn't itching anymore.

Go ahead and ask-- Will it stop me from cuddling them? Nope! haha!!! I will just be very careful not to let them near my face. What do I say all of the time? Never a dull moment!

Today I really need to sit with Cait to work on her FAFSA. Scott is at Leah's so I can't work on his. Other than that, I think I am going to putter with a bit of housework and then do a bit of scrapping.

Have a super Sunday!

Nancy- that really stinks that you can see the messed up calls and there is nothing that you can do. Hope that the Devils can turn it around, they were on a really good streak before this.
How is your stomach this morning? Hope it is better. Good boy, Luther for waiting nicely!
I needed Caitlyn with me at the Food Pantry. She stayed home and cleaned up the in between the batches of cookies. I requested only a few things, was entitled to pick out cereal and didn't, could have brought home a tin of cookies and didn't. I feel like I am taking stuff from people who need it more than I do. When I got back home, I said to her that I needed her there and she said Mo-ooom, I told you to keep in mind that this was for a month, not just what we needed right *now*!" Smart girl. SHM. :p

We have been cataloging some of the words that J seems to respond to, obviously cookie, toy, inside, outside. But Caitlyn realized that she knows the word "cake." Cait baked Ray her B-day cake and kept in in the white fridge (secondary fridge). The black fridge is in the actual kitchen and is the main fridge. Long story short, we were talking about cake and J would run over to the white fridge. We did this a bunch of times throughout the day and it was crazy. I guess it is like how Taz knows where his treats are and showed Beckham at the trailer.

Rae- is this really unusual for your area to get that much snow? That is a heck of a lot, esp if you aren't used to it. The ice is the worst, the freezing and melting and re-freezing. Hope the supermarket wasn't toooo crazy. I never understand why it gets so crazy here when snow is forecasted. Glad that I don't have to go today.
Stay safe and warm. *fingers and toes all crossed that you keep your power*
Loving the pics of Taz in the snow, what a happy boy!

Jean- that must have been interesting to attend a genealogy forum online like that. That is the way to do "life," in my PJ's in front of a computer :D
Thank you soooo much for enjoying my happiness. That makes me smile even more. It is hard fro me when I get into my negativity loop and it happens way too often for my liking. But darn, when I am feeling physically and mentally good, I want to grab it, and then fling it everywhere. Like throwing glitter. Without the mess.

xoxoxo to everyone!

CALY has arrived!! But, hopefully, we are not expected to get more than 2-3 inches. We are on the East side of the state, along Lake Huron so we don't get the lake effect snow like the Lake Michigan side does. They get socked!!!!! But its is coming down pretty steady right now. We are under a warning until 7 a.m. tomorrow. Glad I don't have to go anywhere! Just went out and cleaned the little bit of snow that had already accumulated on my car and put my windshield cover on. Froze my hands off!!!!!

In the mood to make cookies but depends on what ingredients I have on hand. Am NOT going out to the store!! I know I have everything for peanut butter blossoms; even the hershey kisses! YUM!!! Went to Shabbat yesterday and one of the ladies had made the most beautiful tray of decorated cookies and cupcakes. Maybe that is what got me in the mood.

Rae, love your photo of Taz. What a cutie and he looks so playful! Hope you share more. Don't know what state you live in, but do you get much snow? I remember when I lived in South Carolina, just outside of Charleston, and a couple times we got some doozy ice storms!!! Of course, it would cripple the area because they are not prepared for weather like that. Up here in northern Michigan, 70-80 inches a year is normal for us.

Nancyr: Don't know the first thing about Hockey but I have sports fans in my family and have seen them absolutely freak out over unfair calls, so I can just imagine how frustrating that can be; especially because there is nothing you can do about it. Hope the stomach cramps are gone and you feel better.

Chris: I am like you; when I go to the food pantry, I only take what I need. It is only me and how much cereal can I eat??? They are so good to everyone there.
I don't envy you with those financial aid applications. I HATE any type of paperwork that I have to fill out. Always hated going for a new job and having to fill out the application. Glad I am retired now because I think applying on line with a computer could be worse.

So, off to find something exciting to do as the snow falls!!! Lots of books waiting to be read, layouts to be scrapped, and of course, my house is screaming "CLEAN ME !!!!" Hummm, I don't hear a thing!!!!

Have the most fabulous day ever, everyone! HUGS HUGS HUGS and stay warm!!!!!

good late morning - we are not as cold as Chris it was 30 when I went out with Luther this am. Not any one else out so it was a fast walk. But he did get a nice little visit with Jackson. I felt really bad yesterday so I did nothing. I was achey. Poor Luther did not understand. But today I am so much better. yea! I did get a page done.

Chris I am so so glad that the baking went so well. That is a lot of cookies. Glad you relented and your family got some! That is pretty scary though about your eye! Be careful! We are to get snow but turn to rain by morning so I doubt we will even know it snowed. Hope you have fun under your blankets!

Rae wow 12 inches of snow is a lot. I bet Taz was one happy and at the end of the day an exhausted puppy! Hope you are not too sore today from all the shoveling and that the trip to the store was uneventful. I would gladly take some of your snow! I bet scrapping the photos will be so fun!

Jean I love video conferencing. It is so easy now to attend with out having to go. Glad you did not get too much snow!

Have a great day all!

Hi NancyP - your day sounds fun! Baking with snow falling! I love peanut butter cookies! All this talk of cookies makes me want to bake until I remember how bad it is to eat all those baked cookies! Have fun!

Good morning, ladies. Our snow turned to rain last night and it is amazing how quickly it can turn to wet heavy slush. We still have about 6" of compressed wet snow and the latest shoveling we did late yesterday afternoon was hard to do. My back is sore today. It has been raining all morning and the school yard behind us looks like a swimming pool with chunks of ice. The temps are staying around 30 today and then drop as the week goes on so the roads will be icy. Good news is that they are forecasting sunshine up until Dec 24th so hopefully that will help to melt the ice a bit each day before night time freezes it up again. What a mess our weather is right now.

NancyP - we normally get snow a few times over the winter, about 2-3 inches so this is very unusal for us. I grew up in Ontario (across from Detroit) and was used to lots of snow but it was a dry, powdery type of snow. Here in BC it is wet snow usually so the dry snow we got this week was so nice but now it's back to wet rain/snow. Luckily our power stayed on.

Chris - yum, cookies. My hubs is excited to make his jam-jams. Its a great way to honor the memory of his mom. I'm going to try to find a good gluten free cookie to make for myself and Jen. She has decided to go gluten free now too as she is having some health issues. She's been off gluten for about 5 days now and is feeling so much better. We were comparing notes and have a lot of the same symptoms except I don't have balding hair patches like she does. Food/immune system issues are so hard to deal with. I don't want her to feel deprived over the holidays so hope I can make a few different things that she can enjoy. That sucks about the hives and especially about the fur in your eyes. Yikes. Be careful. That sounds awful.

Nancy - I'm with you, I'm achy too. I have to be sure to do some stretches later and maybe take some Advil. I'm going to take it easy today and hope you do too. Any games on today?

I'm so happy I got a lot of snow pics. I'll enjoy scrapping some of them today. I want to get get at least one page done today b/c this upcoming week is going to be very busy with work so probably won't have much time for scrapping. I want to go thru the Xmas stuff too and figure out what I still need to get. It's a good day to stay indoors.

Have a wonderful day, everyone.

It's late again, but just a quick hello. First email was something interesting (genealogy) that got me involved and talked to DH about (his relative) and got dinner in a crockpot, then back to the rest of the email, and finally here.

Chris, love the cookie baking news (but glad I don't have access to them). Please let the eye recover promptly. And good vibes on the forms with Cait.

Nancy, glad you felt better and had OK weather. Hope both continue!

NancyP, glad you are enjoying the weather. Hope you get those cookies baked as they sound wonderful.

Rae, hope you survive the crazy weather and the aches let up.

Happy new week to all.
