GoOd mOrning, dear Os!
It is a cloudy and cool morning here in NJ. The sun is supposed to come out today and I hope it does. Yesterday was dreary for the most part and it just made me feel so sleepy. It started out sunny, then cloudy, then sunny a bit- then it rained again after dinner. Felt like Mother Nature was in a mood too LOL

I did some cleaning and some playing with rats. Started tagging some things in the new ACDSee. There are a few differences that I am trying to work with and a few settings that I had changed in previous versions that needed to be figured out.
Gary started working on Halloween props yesterday. This year, he is adding a graveyard watchman. So far, he has a motor from an old pool filter that is turning gears that rotate poles that are the legs and torso of the watchman. I know that I grumble about how he collects crap from people- like the pool filter!- but is honestly very cool how he turns that into props.
Hopefully, there will be some sort of Halloween this year, even if we only put candy on the porch for the trick or treaters.
Gary and I watched The Old Guard on Netflix last night, I liked it and it wasn't my normal type of movie interest. It was 2 hours long but it didn't seem like it.

Today is the FP and then I was hoping to get outside for a bit. C'mon sunshine!!!

Hoping everyone has a lovely day.

Nancy- oh man, I hope that power comes back to the rest of your town soon. As of last night my brother was still out. Gary needs to work on our generator too and I have been hearing the same about the hurricane season. I guess it is a good thing that my mom and I didn't even attempt to plan a trip down the shore this year.
Enjoy your hockey today.

Trudy- Coffee! How did you forget the coffee!!! *gasps* Dont worry, I forgot to order half and half for our coffee this past week. I usually start my order the day after I picked up the last one since it is still hard to get spots although *much* better than it was. Anyway. I snag a time slot and throw the milk/half and half/bread from my Favorites list and then check out. I can go back and change my order up to the night before my order is shopped. They changed the name of the store brand half and half and it no longer shows up on my Favorites list so when I added the stuff to my cart it wasn't there anymore. Or I had it in the cart and after the name change it was no longer "available."
Either way, online grocery shopping can be the pits.
How was the wine tour?
YAY!!! We will be packing our bags and on our way up to BC. We will be more than happy to help with chores and projects :D

Rae- That is what is happening to my brother, he has two full freezers of food. My mom has been cooking for him as it has been defrosting.
Are you allowed to go to even check on the trailer or is there someone that you know who can? I wouldn't want to step foot in the US if I had a choice. I am sorry that this is such a nightmare for you. If the trailer is relatively isolated/rural, it might not be that hard to sell. A lot of people are moving out of cities, so maybe... I hope it doesn't come to that though. I hope you are able to get a vacation in. How is B feeling, the treatments are over for now or they will be soon?

Cheryl- I am so excited for your move. Just a few more weeks!! The FL rain usually passes through quickly, doesn't it? Hope you are staying dry!

Hey, Felis- check in when you can, just so we know you are ok :)

good morning - well yesterday was a great day of hockey. After having a week of 6 games each day today I am down to only two games today. Yesterday only Toronto survived being eliminated. But I am happy with another game. But mostly I am happy with the teams that survive. The Arizona Coyotes won in OT and so are really in the play offs so that is awesome! Now the Devils have their first round pick. The Vancouver Canucks defeated the Wild and now the Devils have their first round pick too. So a good day for the future of the Devils. Got in a good walk in the evening so that was nice. My generator works so that is great. All in all a good day. Got the last week of July done and have to upload so that is good that I am keeping up.

Chris it is cloudy down here and I am hoping to get some sun. It is still cool which is good. But seems there will be heat later next week. Hope the power comes on today for your brother. I saw on the news - a tree took down power lines but the tree held a bee hive so neither the city nor the power company would do anything so the neighborhood chipped in to hire a bee keeper and then power was restored. Glad the bees were saved.

Trudy that is pretty funny forgetting coffee. At least not totally gone. Have fun on the wine tasting tour.

Rae so good to read. I love all the bird photos on FB. Love your hummingbirds. That is really the pits about your trailer and not being able to use it. Must be so frustrating. I wish the USA could get its act together so the boarder could be opened.

Cheryl I have lived in my house so long I don't think I can move as I just done know how to get rid of stuff. Good luck!

Kay hope things are settling down.

Felis hope your weather has improved and you are still having a great summer.

Gratitudes
Great day of hockey
walking

Morning O-Zies! Well things change around here fast! We did not go on the Wine Tour yesterday, because it started to pour rain!! :rain: So DH decided he would get the inside of the garage painted while the weather was so bad. We put in a new hose reel in the garage and moved it to a better place so there was some repairing and painting to do where the old one was. It was a good thing that we did not go, because we noticed in the local paper that they had a wine event going on from the first of August until the 30th and the cost is $20 to go to all thirteen vineyards and have three different wines at each one. Most of the vineyards charge about $5 each so that is a really good deal. So we bought the tickets and will go today instead! It is still pretty cloudy this morning but it should clear up by the afternoon and so we will try out a couple of vineyards today and maybe a few next weekend. Well I got one of the pages done from my Whale Watching Tour and will upload that this morning.

Chris - Hope that your weather is better today and you feel more like getting outside for a bit! Yikes your Gary is getting ready for Halloween already? I wonder what that will be like this year?? That reminds me that soon it will be time for me to get busy with my calendars for next year. Sadly I have no photos of the kids all home this year, but Jackie and Jason have been taking some photos of everyone while they are in Ottawa together. Today Heather and the boys go home, I think she would have liked to stay a bit longer, but Jason and Jackie have to get back to work, guess they can't vacation forever can they?
At least they can work from home and only really need to go into their work places once in a while. I hope that you get all you need at the FP and yup I totally forgot the coffee  I will pick some up today, at least I have lots of Tim Hortons's for my Tassimo machine.

Rae - How nice to see your smiling face here again! I hope that you are able to get on some type of vacation and probably the camping would be a great option if you want to take your fur babies with you! I really hope that you will not be stuck with having to pay for a trailer that you can't go and enjoy. It doesn't sound like the border will re-open for some time yet and so I hope you have a friend or relative that could go and check on it for you. Perhaps a real estate agent down there could do it for you if you are planning on selling it anyway?

Nancy - Lots of great hockey to watch!! We were so surprised that the Leafs came back and won the game last night! We were really hoping that they would have lost LOL. Glad to hear that the generator is working! It would be awful to be without power for a long time and lose what food you have in the freezer!

Cheryl - Good luck with keeping up with your move! It will be lots of work for all of you! Hope you don't have too much stuff that will get moved that you have not used for years, I think that is what it would be like for us if we decided to downsize! There would be lot of junk to get rid of LOL. Hope that the rains stop for you soon!

Felis - Where ever you are I hope that things are good for you and that you are having great weather and lots of snuggles with your fur babies!

Ok I will get my page uploaded and then get to work on the second one today. Have a great Saturday everyone!

Aww girls, you are so sweet! I'll come a little bit later or tomorrow! But now just letting you know that I'm excellent, really enjoyed my summer, but previous week was very disorganized and overwhelmed with my work, so couldn't fine time to chat, but I was read all the posts  !

It was a strange and messy week. It's the vacation season here, so lots of people got their free week and my boss offer additional work for who wants. And I said ''of course I'm on'' (that's the additional money which will be very welcome)! I have done this many times in past, so it shouldn't be challenging. But the hotness really drags me down, I had very unstable schedule of work and sleep, experimenting with my ability of work mood and relax, and finished with few days of insomnia and exhaustion. I barely was able to bring the finished work before the time limit's end.
At the same time we had to prepare our house for my mom's best friend visiting us. In my opinion the closest friends and family members are more critical than strangers, so yes when we expect guest we are try to put everything in best order. It was supposed to come this weekend and stay with us next, but she gave up at the last minute. I think she have some unrealistic expectation, because previous year my mom visit her at Turkey and they had really awesome time. Traditionally the good upbringing requires she to receive the same. But this doesn't sound very possible right now, when everybody is on work and they couldn't find who to drive them around (as both aren't drivers) and also at the places she was plan to visit still have 'stay in distance and maximum number of people' restrictions, so will have to wait long time in long lines. In combination with the hot temperatures and increased number of corona cases, she decided that it's better to postpone it for the autumn or next year. She was already once in hospital with suspicious for COVID, but they told it's something different on the lungs, so the risk for her is bigger and really don't worth it.

Ok, let's see, I have made some notes in my mind.

Will start with
Trudy, as I love your summer vacation. I was happy that you chose the smaller ship, as it's sounds much more adrenaline for me! Sorry that you wasn't able to see Orca! Writing this I'm googling some of the animals as I'm not familiar with the english names, and they are soo cute! Your LO is also amazing! I wish you was steal one sea lions pups for me LOL. Have fun on the wine tour!
My sister was on one previous week and they come back with 6 bottles of wine in special packaged cassette tape, which they have to transport with the train . She told me that everybody is look at them judging lol. But I don't believe it! First of all germans aren't judging people, and also lots of people are staring at my sister at the whole time, she and her BF are like walking commercial for sports wear, with this type of body you makes impression even wearing masks.

Nancy, I absolutely love the episode when you cross the police line :heh:, that's my girl! It's good that it wasn't something nasty and your curiosity was worth it. Hope the weather to not be too bad this year and to not bring lots of storms making damages! I'm sure you're enjoying the sport.

Chris, it's so awesome that Gary is able to recycling and reuse old stuff! My heart was bleeding reading how you aren't even able to allows your family to charged their phones and take shower, and at the same time we was preparing our friend's visiting, life is so unfair to you, my dear, strong hug!

Jean, I hope that the genealogy group will continue to brings you pleasure even if you aren't able to go back to the normal meetings this year! Are there members who have given up the computer meetings?

It's raining whole day and continued at the night so I'm feeling like in haven!

Thank you for the words of encouragement! We are radically downsizing - from 5 bedrooms/3 baths to 2 bedrooms/2 baths. I'm trying to get rid of a lot of stuff but it's overwhelming!

The Wine Tour sounds good! I'd love to be going on one right now.

Chris, hope things are going a little better for you and your family.

Nancy, have fun watching hockey. The last time I was really into hockey was when we lived in Detroit. You can't help but get the hockey fever up there.

Rain stopped all day but started back up again this evening. "Our daily rain".

I am looking out my window and I can't tell if is cloudy or fog that is going to burn off. I hope that it will stay dry. My parents are coming up this morning and I have not seen them since my birthday in June. I honestly think this the longest stretch of time when I haven't seen them since I have been out of college.
I wish we felt comfortable enough having them inside the house. Cait and I were talking about isolated we feel. Her cousins have been sharing pics on Instagram being with friends. Small groups but inside houses, hugs, and here we are- all alone. I am not feeling sorry for us, it is some strange mix of envy, sadness, and a dash of survival instinct. I think I have said it before, but maybe if you haven't had a reason to see how delicate and capricious your hold on health actually is, perhaps it is easier to feel like it will always be there? Gary and I were "young" (30s) when we got sick and our kids were in elementary school when they were initially diagosed.
Trudy, do you and Heather feel that?

Yesterday I spent a lot of time outside, doing basically nothing. I weeded around half of the fire pit and started to scatter rocks around the base of it. I need to get grass seed, something really hardy, at some point in the fall.
We caught 4 raccoons and a fox on the nature cam. Thankfully, they were not there at the same time.
I made a yummy dinner too. Time consuming, but with it. It was a rice and beans enchilada thing. White rice, tomatoes, black beans, onions, garlic, cheese. I made some with chicken in both corn (Gary's) and flour tortillas. Some were no chicken (Caitlyn) and were in corn and flour tortillas. I had four different trays on the table and the family joked that I needed labels for each. I also made spoon bread corn casserole (vegetarian but not gluten-free ).
Try keeping track of that, Inferior Human Chefs. :pound:

Other than the visit with my parents, I have to work on the food list/menu for tomorrow morning's pick up.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day!

Nancy- how exciting that the hockey games have been so good and they have stayed healthy. Do you have any ideas or hopes on how the Devils will pick? Must be a relief to know that your generator is working. My brother's power came back on late yesterday afternoon.
Oh my goodness, can you imagine no one wanting to take the tree down? So awesome that they neighbors were able to get a beekeeper in to move the hive.
That us exactly what my ILs say about moving.

Trudy- oh no, so sorry that you didn't get to go on the wine tour but things have a way of working out. Did you have a great time yesterday? That is such a good deal, are the wineries having trouble with the pandemic? That us sure to help draw people in.
Only your Gary would find so many projects to do on a day that should have been free. bet the garage looks great though, nice and clean.
Thank you for the reminder that I need to work a bit onChristopher's book for next May. It always comes up that I have 17 pages do and one month to do them all in. Your calendars will look nice with the photos that the kids have shared. I bet they will all miss each other so much, but that is so wonderful that they had a great time together.

Felis- I am so happy that your summer has been so good for you even if the weather has been hot and has made you feel tired and blah. That is to obad that your mom's best friend had to change her plans but it makes sense that she did. My hopes are that things will be better in Autumn and they can try again.
Thank you for the hugs!

Hi Cheryl- that is a big downsize but I bet it will feel so fabulous. On a *very* smaller scale, I painted the LR/DR last fall and took everything off of the walls. It looked so nice and open that we ended up packing most of it away. I have never like clutter or knickknacks (Gary, on the other hand  ). I bet you will feel "lighter" after you move.

Hugs!

Popping in just to say "Hi". Family stuff is the same - with heightened alert levels right now. Thank goodness the Blood Pressure is staying in the normal range for now. Guess it is a waiting game to see how things go. Have managed to get a few LOs done and posted.

Had to go to the store yesterday to get some 60w lightbulbs. Had 1 of 4 bulbs in the bathroom quit... so know the others will be going soon as they are all the same age. While I was there, I picked up a few large barrettes and clips to help pull my hair back into a low tail. I haven't had long hair is a long time so had forgotten how hot it can get! Still debating whether to get it cut or let it continue to grow longer. At least I can now get it clipped up/back until I make up my mind. Also got some groceries, milk, etc.

Chris... I was LOL over your Gary working on a Halloween thing... then realized it is less than 2 months away!!! I hear you about being concerned over having people inside. When my DDs come over, I usually have the windows open so plenty of air is moving and we keep the SD. No hugging, touching, etc with them. Do what makes you feel safe. Those of us with comprised immune systems have to take it seriously and stay as safe as we can.

Oh, Trudy, had to laugh about you forgetting to get coffee... I would have to have it. In fact, I wasn't sure when I went to Sam's so got a large one - to find that I had an almost full one at home. Better to have extra than to run out! Glad to hear about the bargain on tickets for the wine tour. Enjoy it.

Cheryl, that is quite a bit of a downsize. Good luck on the winnowing of stuff before the move.

Felis, glad to hear that you are able to get more work... and more pay to do it. Way to go, gal. Sounds like it was a wise move on the friend putting off the visit until things settle down virus-wise.

Nancy, glad you are getting your Hockey fix again.

Hope all have a good week.

Afternoon girlios! Do you like that - "Girlios/Cheery-O"? :focus: Chris, it's a MAJOR downsize - but long overdue! We moved into this huge place for 2 extra people, who have since moved out and left the 2 of us and the dog to ramble around.

I'll bet your newly painted (bare) walls looks great! I don't like clutter either, but my "scraproom" walls were covered with all of my art. I have everything taken down and most of is packed already. We donated a bunch of stuff to a local charity called "Teen Challenge". Well, it's not really local - they're all over but it's a charity that offers teen rehab. They're even coming to help us pack! Such a nominal fee too and I love that 100% of everything goes right back into the program! They actually house teens while they're in rehab, so they were thrilled to get a lot of our furniture!

good day - well my DH and I got Luther out for his morning walk. It was later in the morning and he was not happy with having to wait. We went to a park and older people had on masks not so much those exercising by running or biking. It was strange and there was all this loud music. There is church on the other side of the river so we guessed it had to be church outside. Just ruined the ambience of being in the outdoors. Now watching hockey. Yesterday's games were good. Tonight is the one between the Leafs and Blue Jackets. Each team has come back wins after being down 3 goals. Should be very interesting. Have gotten a lot of scrapping done so that makes me happy. My son and his MG have shared some really fun photos. I love using their photos. My DH is making burgers for dinner. Yummy!

Chris we just have clouds and we had no fog. I loved that last night I could see the stars through my bedroom window. Bet it was fun with the parents. How nice that Gary is creating new stuff for Halloween. Glad the lights are back on for your brother.

Trudy sorry you missed the wine tour. Darn rain but maybe you needed the rain. I am sure as you wrote that you MG would have a project for you to all to accomplish. Tell you MG I am cheering for the Bruins.

Kay hope family stuff works out well for you all! The blood pressure medication really does work for me and I am glad it is working for you. have fun scrapping!

Cheryl wow that is a down size. I think as long as I had two bathrooms I would be fine with only two bedrooms. But wow I feel you with being overwhelmed with getting rid of stuff. Good luck with that!

Felis so glad your summer is going so well. Seems like a smart idea to have the visit postponed.

Have a great day all!

Sorry to hear that you still have "family stuff" going on and that it's heightened alert levels. Hang in there and hopefully you can get some inner peace by scrapping. That got me through some rough family times.

Yes, our downsize is going to be quite extreme, but it feels good to get rid of stuff! My hubby is really going through his stuff! We gave a lot of it to charity!

Hope your weekend is decent. :)

Chris, we feel the same way. We haven't seen our family (except one daughter and grandson who lived with us until a couple of months ago) since May! We talk and Facetime a lot, but it's just not the same! I'm starting to feel SO isolated, but we'll be out in the country by next month and it won't be so scary (Covid) then. Part of the family arrived in OK yesterday - the move has started!!
