Happy happy happy weekend to you all!

who wants to hear me complain about cooking? I made falafel yesterday and after 1.5 hours prepping the mixture, I was  about how much I hate making them. But darn, they are so good!
I felt bad for Caitlyn, she had a rough day at work and wasn't in any mood to eat by the time that she got home. An almost 5 yo kid pooped in his pull up and she had to lift him on to the changing table and hurt her back. It was a long day at the end of a long week and I think she was a bit fried.

I had a nice afternoon at the lake. I am reading a new book, The Magician's Lie and was happy to sit with my feet in the sand. I wish that my back didn't hurt so much cuz beach chairs aren't the comfiest.
I don't think that I got much of anything else done but there is always today for that.
I am off to the FP this morning and at some point, I have to go to BFFATS's house. I am "babysitting' her son's leopard gecko while they are on vacation and he is going to give me the details on what needs to get done. Leftovers for dinner and that should be about it.

I still have to make my BFFs sympathy card. I have been trying to photos of us with her dad but I can't find any. I think I might have to scan things that we did that he was part of - like our trips to Sag Harbor, hockey games, etc, -- the memories of us growing up and all that. It is so bizarre how different photos were "back then" when you only took a few shots because you had to pay for film and processing. It is so much easier now LOL

what plans do you have this weekend? Hope what ever it is, you have fun! xoxo

Trudy- are you doing any better with the jet lag today? sounds like a fun time swimming in the river, hope that you cooled off. yay for the cut and color! My ends are 100% crispy but I can't even begin to think about a cut/color ATM.
Jonah is a keeper! That must make your mom's heart happy and relieved. I know that there was some "theory" that it is harder to train kids now because diapers are so absorbent that kids can't really feel when they are wet. Has she tried letting him run around outside naked or used only underpants to help make the connection of peeing and pottying?
Scott was harder to train than Caitlyn who trained herself at 2 1/2-- and did it in less than a week. he took longer-- stubborn kid that he was too.

Nancy- that was nice of you to go and recuse DH and Luther from the storm. It was pouring here again when I woke up this morning, but we haven't gotten it like some places in Central NJ. 4.5 inches in Hunterdon County, I think I read?

Rae- have a great time at the trailer and good luck with Beckham too. How many more chemo sessions does he have left? I love how Taz looks after him :)

jean- have a super time with your friend!

Good morning. I was up at 4:00 with Beckham and then he had me up again at 6:00 so I just stayed up. I guess he can't hold his bladder for long anymore. I forgot to bring my magnesium with me to the trailer so it looks like I'll be going into town to the drugstore for some this morning. I wasn't planning on going into town but looks like I'll have to. We have some yard work to do later but not a lot, I plan to be sitting out on the deck with my book later this afternoon during the hottest part of the day.

Chris - sorry to hear Cait had such a bad day and hurt her back. She was so happy to get this job and it must be so discouraging to be so stressed about it now. Hope it gets better. Hope your back isn't bothering you too much. I'm trying to be careful with my back this wkend. Guiding and lifting Beckham is hard on my back b/c I have to bend over a lot and then lift him awkwardly. I'm trying to remember that I need to stretch and protect my back.

I'm looking forward to scrapping later tonight as I watch TV. I have a feeling I'll be getting to bed early though as it looks like Beckham will probably have me up very early.

Everyone else must still be sleeping :) Hope you all have a great day.

good morning - not much going on. We had really big thunderstorm role through around 5am. It poured and then it rained even harder. I did not think it could rain that hard. Still cloudy but it should be clear by the afternoon. Actually got out and did a couple of errands and my knee held up so that was good. Today I have two hockey games to watch. Yesterday's games were fun. The US team had to come from behind to defeat the Finns. It was very exciting. So today the USA plays Canada and Sweden vs Finland so they are real rival games. Not much else going on. Saw a report on ABC where they compared Blue Apron, Amazon, and Fresh meals. Amazon won on ease as all the veggies came washed and chopped. They said that Blue Apron was more for foodies who did not mind the prep and wanted to try new and interesting flavors and ingredients. Amazon also lets you just order as you want one meal at a time but you have to be an Amazon Prime member and an Amazon Fresh and only available in Seattle. All the tasters said all the food tasted awesome. Fun to see what they said. And they are pretty correct about Blue Apron a lot of prep but so far most has been so worth it.

Chris your day at the lake sounds lovely. So sorry about Cait and her job. I guess she is learning just how hard it is for caregivers but I know I was so grateful for all the care they gave my boys. Your dinner sounds yummy. I bet all were grateful for the effort. I am sure you will find the correct photos for the card and your BFF will be so happy for your card.

Trudy glad you are getting back into the swing of things. I know it is good to be back home. Have a fun day!

Rae can't wait to hear how Beckham and Taz are playing at trailer. Must be so fun to see Beckham happy.

Have a great day all!

good morning - well hockey is over until Sept and then pre season will begin. Yesterday's games were fun. The USA defeated Canada 7-5. You can see that the offense comes to these kids before the defense does. Poor goalies. It was nice to see several of my NJ Devils draft choices were playing really well. We had players on all four teams. I even got to see some of them at the prospects scrimmage so it was fun to see them here too representing their countries. I now have to hope they improve and can do well in the NHL. Sweden defeated Finland in OT. Finns tied the score with only 50 sec to go. So both games were so exciting! The afternoon was fun watching romance Hallmark movies. Not much on the agenda today.

Hope everyone is busy and has a great day!

It looks to be a beautiful Sunday here in NJ-- cool right now, but sunny. We have no plans (what else is new? LOL) and I don't want to spend too much time outside doing yard work. My shoulder and back were in so much pain all day yesterday and I don't want to re-trigger those areas that hurt. I am still stiff but the shooting and spasming pain has lessened.

I was "off" all day yesterday. Pain does that to me. Cait and I bickered in the morning and that also throws me off. We fight so rarely that when we even get snotty with each other, it feels weird. But we are all good now.

Scott, Leah, and I popped over to BFFATS to see what needs to get done to take care of Spot the Leopard Gecko. He is very cute. Not as cute as Leah's leopard gecko, Rex, but still cute. Spot is young and doesn't have all of his colors in but has some cool markings on his tail. I am so thankful that Scott and Leah are going to be my "wingmen" since I have never had to take care of a reptile on my own before. Feeding him the crickets won't bother me but the wax worms are kind of icky. Scott will help me out until Wed, which is when the kids will be away until late Friday.

I am also trying very hard to keep my vacation envy in check. Everyone seems to be on vacation or going on vacation. This is the first year that I am not even going on our Redneck Vacation to my parents' lake house with the kids. First time that I haven't been to the fair in 19 years. I was pregnant with Cait when my parents bought the house and we have gone ever since.

Like I said, nothing "wrong"-- just "off."

Hoping that you have a very happy Sunday!

Rae- you must have been tired having to wake up so early with Beckham. Hope that you got a little bit of yard work and then some down time with your book.
Back pain is tricky, isn't it? Move a tiny bit in the wrong direction and it is all over from there. I took 2 Aleve and put on lots of Voltaren gel and it barely budged the pain levels down. be careful when you lift Beckham. Silly question, but does he get any sort of PT to help him strengthen and balance better?

We finished re-watching Season 1 of Stranger Things. Can't wait for Season 2!

Nancy- great news that your knee is holding up after your errands. Seems like every day is a little bit better for you. Awesome!
That is neat to hear about the different food services. If I was given a subscription, I would probably go with the BA since the prep work doesn't bother me (within reason- the falafel is just a PITA LOL), it more of the boredom of cooking the same foods.

Cait's back was better yesterday but now she has teeth marks on her arm where someone bit her! She only has 2 work days before they leave for camping. That will help.I am still struggling with the card for BFF. They are on vacation for at least another 5-6 days so I have time. I have to call her mom today or tomorrow to check in, see how she is doing.

Good morning, ladies. I had just about finished my post and my tablet went wonky (the ctrl key was sticking every time I tried to use the pen and then a ton of tabs starting opening on firefox, then every key started doing different things than they should. I tried to save my post but the save function wouldn't work when I copied it onto the clipboard. Frustrating...ugh. So a defrag, driver update and restart before coming back to try again. It does this every once in awhile and I have no idea why.

Quiet day today, chores are done, I can relax, watch shows, read my book, do a bit of scrapping and get Taz out for a walk later. Last night we watched the first 6 episodes of a sci-fi show, Killjoys, and we like it. We'll watch some more later. I also want to watch the last 3 episodes of Orphan Black. I believe last night was the finale (so sorry to see that show end, it's been one of my faves).

Chris - never took care of a gecko before, actually, have never touched one, just seen them in the glass tank at the pet store. Hope inspiration comes to you to get the card done for your BFF and that you are feeling better today. I don't know if Beckham is still getting physio now but I know he was for months. My strain and ache isn't too bad today, I've been stretching throughout the day and I don't think it'll get too bad.

Nancy - I watched a hallmark movie as I was going to sleep last night. Something about a killer step dad. It had one of the guys from that old show, Nip/Tuck, and Sela Ward was in it too.

Trudy - getting back into the swing of thing I hope. Did you get out for a swim yesterday?

Beckham is starting to get restless so it must be time to get him out to the yard again. I'd better go. Have a great day everyone.

My friend has gone but it was a wonderful time. Also got to meet two friends of hers here. Funny how each of us remembers different things we did together back when. Now I've got a backlog of two weekly pages to scrap.

Hope everyone is doing fine. Or as well as can be expected?
