Ye gads!!! The last weekend in August? Say it ain't so!!! But I have to say, the more I resist the whole back to school thing, the more my subconscious takes over at night. I had terrifying back to school dreams last night. I have no idea what they were about...except sheer terror!

Cait and I were talking yesterday about how we at least have Halloween to look forward too. We went to the local thrift store and found some things to paint/decorate. We decided to go with a Victorian/Haunted Mansion theme for inside. If Gary wants to match his outside decor, that would be awesome but that is *his* deal :D
I got some some ribbon, bottles and jars to be spray painted black and a mirror that we will paint black and add a creepy face sticker in it. All for $4. Nice!

Today is the Campbell Clan get together (no, we will not be wearing plaid. no bagpipes either ha!!). I am really happy to see everyone, it has been a long time.

I hope that all of you have a wonderful weekend!

Trudy- How did the dr's appt go? Hope that they didn't take too much blood :D
Sending hugs to you after you see the grands off at the airport. I can't imagine having to say goodbye.
Yay Rain!!!!!!! :rain:

Shar- what a nightmare for poor Avery. :( What a heartbreaking time for you too.
i am so so sooooo happy that she liked Marisol. That has to help ease the pain in your heart a bit. And wow, I hope that things settle down in the neighborhood, sounds horrible- do you think that it is becasue they are new and are "easy targets?"

Happy for rain for you too!

Good morning - I can't believe how real life has gotten in the way of scrapping. On Thursday I talked to my sister and then had errands and of course in the middle of the day I was dogsitting. I want to get in a walk and that takes time. By then it was late in the day, Then yesterday was getting my hair done and more errands. I am finding that cooking and not knowing what I want to prepare until that day is putting a real crimp in my time for scrapping. Then taking a walk. And even though grilling is not hard I still had to watch so the chicken does not burn and then prepare sides. But I have to say that I have made BBQ chicken that was juicy and not burned and the BBQ sauce was from Williams/Sonoma Peach Jalepeno and boy was that tasty. And just as I I finish baby sitting one set of dogs I get Rex this weekend. Too funny! I am also getting ready for my upcoming trip out West.

Chris thanks and sorry for making you worry. Have a great time at the Campbell clan gathering. I am so glad that I don't have to worry about going back to school. This is a great time for retirees as all the kids are in school. My DH is getting ready for his classes and has been registering lots of students.

Trudy so sorry that the grandkids are gone. Congrats on the rain. It is such a nice smell.

Sharron I can't believe how mean kids can be. But worst is when parents won't help with the problem. Hope things get better for her. Your golf outting sounds fun even with the poor choice of motels. But at least your Capt Romance is accepting responsibility and this is awesome.

Have a great day all!

So I'm lying in bed this VERY EARLY morning somewhere between sleeping and waking, and hear an on-going noise. I knew Dave was up early, and could not imagine what he was doing to make such a racket. He is always so quiet in the morning, I never hear him at all. Finally, I realize, IT IS RAIN!!!!!!!!!!!! How sweet the sound all of a sudden became. And now they are forecasting lots of rain this coming week. I hope they are right, although it will mean postponing a golf-get-together with 6 other friends which was scheduled for Monday. I sure hope the eastern part of the state is getting some of this.

Still have not heard from DD about the birthday party scheduled for today. :'\ If only she knew how low my stomach sinks when she goes days without communicating.

Chris, I hope the CCG goes wonderfully today. It seems like something you love. Now the Halloween Thing. I don't get THAT at all. But I'm a total humbug about all "holidays." I did see some crow things when I was at JoAnn's the other day I would enjoy having, but not at $15 each! Not for Halloween, but just because I like crows.

Nancy, sounds like you have not only a full PLATE, but a full PLATTER! I really hear ya about the food thing. Wish we could just take a pill that filled us up and provided all the nutrition we need. Did you BBQ the chicken whole, or cut into pieces?

Trudy, hope your transition back to empty nest isn't too rough.

Scrap on!

Morning ladies... I am sleepy and sad this morning. We were all up super early to get everyone on the plane :plane: Lots of kisses and hugs and tears (well I was the only one crying lol) But they are all excited to meet up with their mommy and get back home and to start school. Yikes! Isaac will be in grade 2 and Sadie will start Kindergarten. My goodness where has the time gone?? The one good thing was the fact that it is pouring rain and we are all so thankful for it!! Hoping this will finally put the Lizard Lake fire to rest and the smoke will go away from all of the other fires in Washington State.

Chris - Your family really does love Halloween don't they!! I am not as big a fan as I used to be, but it is cute to see the little ones all dressed up! We don't seem to have as many as years ago as there is so much going on for them downtown and it keeps them off the street.
Hope your Clan Campbell get together is lots of fun! It is always great to get together again! My doctor appt was good, I still have to go for the blood work and she said that I can stay off my thyroid pills until after the tests come back then she will let me know if I need to keep taking them or if I need a stronger dosage. I have been out of pills for a few weeks, just never had the time to go see her to renew my prescription. I told her I was not happy with my weight and still am having a difficult time taking off a few pounds. She smiled and told me that I am not 25 anymore and that at my age we tend to maintain and not lose. Ugh that is not what I want to hear :mmph: She said that it usually takes something major and stressful in our lives to lose a lot of weight at my age and that she thought for my height and age I looked amazing  Well thanks but I still would like to be a few pounds lighter :becky:

Nancy - My goodness you have been a very busy lady lately!! Hope you figure out a way to fit all this activity into your day and still leave time for scrapping! Your grilling skills are making my mouth water :hungry: How far West are you planning to travel this year? I know you and your sister will have a great time together!

Sharron - How wonderful that you got to watch the gift opening and that your gift was such a great success!! Isn't FaceTime the Best!! It breaks my heart to hear about what is going on with all of this bullying in your DD's new neighbourhood!! Shame on those parents for not taking responsibility for their kids horrible attitudes! I pray that all of this comes to a happy end very, very soon!! Such a worry for you and your Capt. Romance! I went back to bed after seeing everyone off this morning and was awakened by a unfamiliar noise too, it was pouring!! I smiled to myself and fell right back to sleep with the smell of rain coming through the open window. It was so much better than the smell of smoke that we have become used to :becky: Hooray for the rain!!

Well lots of cleaning to do this weekend and many more photos to try to get sorted out, hopefully I will transition back to Empty Nest living without too much heartache and will try to get some new pages done in the process. Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

I'm feeling the doldrums I guess, no ambition, not feeling the greatest, etc. Put to shame by all that you're getting done. Hope the rain does its job for the PNW! And the NJ weekend goes well.

Waving from in between!

Hey Jean. Captain Romance and I were just having this conversation yesterday. I was happy he has golf to enjoy so much, and that I have scrapping. For the most part, we often feel like we're just marking time. Our main job these days is praying, and it seems our kids are the ones who are the object of most of our prayers. Another friend is going thru a horrible crisis involving children and grandchildren, and we both agreed that we have reached the Weary Stage of life. Hope the cycle has an upswing for you soon.

good morning - yesterday was such a fun day. When his girlfriend came up she asked him for 3 favors. 1 was cold water as no one in my family drinks cold water or uses ice, 2 she make him dinner and 3 that she gets to study. So on Friday he goes to the store to get his food for cooking. Well he bought so much it was crazy. He bought 5 2inch porter house steaks and 5 others that were on sale. (luckily he bought this with his money). He got ingredients for spinach salad and potatoes for roasted rosemary and garlic potatoes. Well yesterday he had to put it all together and it required a lot of work putting his marinade together and cutting a lot of veggie and strawberries for salad. He was not sure how to cut to potatoes as he was getting tired by this time and so I suggested he use the apple corer and OMgosh it worked perfectly! He ended up with perfect wedges and cute cores. Zach came over to help eat and grill and everything was so tasty! He felt really good. And for me he learned just how much work goes into to a meal. It is not like microwaving. I did get a page done but I had was up and down a lot showing him where stuff was and how to cut. I also had a good walk with my girlfriend. She has been busy helping her daughter get her class room all set up for her first job. I did not really understand how much pre work needed to be done. But she is happy and so of course are her parents! Well today we have lots of leftovers so I am hoping to scrap a lot. And I have been playing fetch with Rex. He is so good.

Chris hope you had a great family day! Cant believe you are thinking of Halloween already.

Trudy so glad you are finally getting your rain and that fire is put out! Every time my sister tells me the grades her grandkids are in I can't believe it. Time really does go by fast. Glad you had the time with the grandkids for a while!

Sharron I am glad you and Capt Romance how your hobbies. Prayer is such a positive! I hope the birthday party went well! Loved how you described waking to a racket of rain! But so glad you are getting the rain too!

Jean so sorry you are in the doldrums! Having your sister so sick I am not surprised.

Have a great day all!

Good morning!
jeez louise I am beat. It was a long week. I think I did more this past week than I had all summer. That is a really good thing, but damn it is catching up with me.

We had a very nice time-- I hadn't seen my nieces since Christmas and they are so grown up. And TALL! Both of them are taller than Cait, not a surprise with Juliet since she is not quite 2 years younger than her. But Sarah is going into 6th grade and has an couple of inches on her. Cait was play-crying that they weren't her "little cousins" any more.

Today I am taking it easy and need to do my forever-IV. whee.

Hope all of you have a more exciting day than me LOL

Good morning all. Not feeling perky today. Had a bad episode of acid reflux in the middle of the night, so was up with that for hours. Still not feeling good.

Add to that the sadness I'm feeling for DD and her family. As of Friday, she had received ZERO responses about the party, so it was cancelled. :'( Then 3 HOURS before the party was to have started, she gets a call. "Sorry. We didn't get any responses, so we had to cancel." So they go out to do some errands, leaving the 15-year-old home with the little boys. At party time, 3 girls from her former school show up. Melaina told them the party had been cancelled. The dad of one calls Zanna to see if that is really true. "Yes. We didn't get ANY responses, so we had no choice." Of course, the neighborhood "gang" didn't even show their faces on the street yesterday. There has been more ugliness, but I won't go into details. My heart is breaking.

Our lights flickered a few times yesterday, but we still have power despite the strong winds.

Nancy and Chris, sounds like you had a wonderful day. Glad for you both.

Still raining. A good day to burrow in.

Hi ladies... We still have power here after the wind storm yesterday, poor trees falling everywhere. After so much drought they just don't have anything to hang onto when the wind blows!! They were saying that between the Island and the mainland there were over 400,000 without power and lots of damage from fallen trees. Thank goodness we did not get as strong wind gusts here. Back yard is a mess, so if the rain stops for a while and it dries up a bit we will get it cleaned up and ready for the next storm to roll in LOL.

Chris - Sounds like your Campbell get together was fun and that you have been very busy! Take the day to recoup and get ready for the school year to start again UGH!!

Nancy - Wow that dinner sounds scrumptious!! Nice that your son is learning just how much work goes into preparing a meal! He should appreciate all that you do a bit more! Hope you find time to scrap today, I am sure that you have been doing lots lately and I really need to get to the gallery and check out everyones beautiful pages!

Sharron - I am so sorry to hear that things are not improving for your GD!! My heart breaks right along with yours!! I too have been suffering with acid reflux lately and when I was at the drs the other day I told her about it. She is sending me for a breath test along with all the other blood work that I will have done. Hopefully we will get to the bottom of the problem. She thinks it could be bacteria problem in my stomach :noidea: Sending you lots of  to you and your whole family!

Jean - Sorry you are in the dumps!! No wonder with all that your dear sister is going through ! I am sending you lots of  also!!

Ok off to start some breakfast and get the bathrooms cleaned today, so tomorrow I will have all day to scrap and catch up here. Have a relaxing Sunday everyone!!

Thank you all for the hugs and encouragement! It really feels nice. I'm feeling better today as the site of my tooth extraction is finally seeming to heal. Social worker for my sister called a family meeting for Wed. Not sounding good. I'll see how she's doing later today. I also got a little boost from the new challenges and got two done.

Chris, I know you've been doing so much more lately, no wonder you need a rest. Happy IVing?

Nancy, don't you love having them learn how much you really do? Sounds like it was a fab dinner though. Scrapping today sounds good. Trip planning is nice too.

Sharron, so sorry you had a poor night. Sure hope it is not recurring. With all your worries you sure don't need more, but... Right. No responses on the party even from old friends who came doesn't make sense, but I guess that's what people do (or don't). Can't imagine how they're coping. So happy Marisol was a big hit though. Take care with the weather.

Trudy, what scary weather! Glad you didn't get the worst of it, but sorry for those who did. Hoping for good medical results and plenty of scrapping time.

Can't believe August is almost gone, seems like June started just minutes ago.

Hope it's a good day everyone!
