Nooo!!! It's the last weekend of August. Goodbye, summer. *sniff loudly*
:waving2:

But I am here and holding on to whatever sanity I have left. By a thread but that still counts. Yesterday was such a mixed bag yet again of good and not-so-good. My monitor didn't give me any additional trouble so there was that. My dress came in which was also good news. I am telling myself that those things cancel out the crummy news- the dishwasher is unfixable and the dress is damaged.
Yup. What a day.

Gary tried to take the inner door of the dishwasher off to get to the board inside to reset it again. He's done it a bunch of times already but this time he couldn't get the screws off. So we had to buy a new dishwasher. More money on the credit card that I'll be paying off for the rest of my life. It should be here next week and that will be the point I'll be bonkers from everyone leaving their dishes in the sink. Even if they tell me they will wash them when they get home from work, I know myself-- I won't be able to leave them sitting there in the sink all day.

I was so excited when I got the dress, it is still as pretty as I remember. I was holding it up when I saw a long loose thread and a ton of sequins on the floor. I put it back in the bag and contacted David's CS. I want it on record that it was delivered that way in case I have to return it. After that was done, I messaged the seamstress (is there a more current term to use for that? Seems so dated) to see when I could get in to try it on/get her opinion on alterations. She is on vacation until Sept 5th- well past the 7 days I have to return it. pfffttttt! Her assistant suggested that I try it on and take pictures of it and she can take a look while she is away.

So much is just up in the air. I don't like it. :hahano:

I got my Color Play LOs uploaded but that was all I did with scrapping.
FP is this morning and then I will have Caitlyn take some pic of me in the dress and I'll get them over to Abby. *fingers crossed that she gets to look at them soon and that she thinks the dress can be altered* (please please please)

Boy oh boy, do I need Gratitude today :giggle4:
Today I am grateful that I still had room on the credit card. I am grateful that my mom treated me to the dress. And I am always grateful for the people at the FP for helping me to feed my family!

Good morning. @faerywings I am so sorry about both the dishwasher and the dress. I'm glad that the seamstress is able to take a look at the photos even while she is gone. The dishwasher stinks... I couldn't be without one!

I am so glad that we have made it to Saturday. It is nice out here this morning and I am going to get a ColorPlay layout done. The cardinals are at the feeders. I need to get some kind of a treat to take to the card making class. I might do brownies. And I am picking up some lady that I've never met to take her with me because she doesn't drive after dark. I think there will be about 7 of us. Hoping to make some connections. Of course, it is more likely that I will decide I need some type of Silhouette machine to make cards in the future.

I'll be back after bit for personals. I need more :coffeescreen:

@LSlycord Yay!!! I am really glad that you had such a good convo with Syd. That had to have been very reassuring that she is still getting in the swing of things. It's a lot of adjustments all around.
The dinners and excursions are super exciting too. Caitlyn wanted to swim with the pigs when she was on a cruise with her ex many years ago. Can't remember why they didn't but I bet it will be a blast for you guys :)
I'm crossing my fingers along with you for a quiet season. The biggest drawback of my mom and I going down the shore in September is that we never know what the weather is going to be like.
You are so sweet to me! I wish I could hug you-- all of you- IRL but through the interwebs is how it will be for now. Who knows what the future holds?
And yesssss, of course I get you, I'm a "fixer" too! In case you couldn't tell. Hahah! :rotfl:

@BrightEyes I have to say, the guac and quesadillas sound much better than KFC. Healthier too. Hope the BP stayed in the normal range all day too.

@vickyday Heck to the humidity, it is back in full force today. Hope you and Mark are staying hydrated. I think that yarn is the same that I made a hat and scarf with. If it is, it feels wonderful. I'll have to see if I have a photo.
@bcgal00 Talk about up in the air, your life is much crazier than mine. I can't imagine trying to move. :thud: Good luck with the showing today. Travelers was so good! Glad that you are taking care of your back too.

@Cherylndesigns I am really happy and relieved that the gremlins didn't trash your computer too much!

@tanteva I am going to have to put my speakers on to hear the song so I'll do that in a bit. But man, that is gonna *ruin* my YouTube algorithm :floorlaugh:

HUGS!!!

I finished a layout. Why is it that my stupid Photoshop keeps resetting the workspace! Ugh... Anyway, I got it up and running and did a combined ColorPlay and August challenge. BTW, we heard nothing from the HOA about their meeting on the property and the setbacks. We are supposed to close on 9/6 but we have discussed it and if they don't have progress by Monday, we will withdraw our offer. That makes me sad but I'm sure not willing to buy land and then not be able to build something because of their stupid rules.

@BrightEyes I'm so happy to see you back doing so many layouts!!! And so happy that you are feeling better. Did your BP stay under control yesterday? I sure hope so.

@vickyday I love the colors in your yarn!!! That will make the most beautiful baby blanket! You amaze me with how much you get done!

@bcgal00 the realtor open house on Tuesday will be extremely helpful! My fingers are crossed that you already have an accepted offer before then, but still a good plan! We are going to the Caribbean. Ports in Bahamas, USVI, British VI and DR. I am starting to get excited.

@Cherylndesigns I'm so sorry about your computer problems yesterday. They really are the worst! But such a great job of persevering and winning!!!

I guess I need to figure out how to get myself cleaned up to leave the house. I haven't left it since last Saturday afternoon when I went for a massage. I'm sure that I have never been in my house that long except when I had pneumonia or Covid. I love working from home, but I'm not sure that it is good for me.

Good morning!
Nada happening around here today. Even Mark is still sitting in his recliner. He said he didn't feel like doing squat so he was going to just sit. Then he got up and said he was tired of not doing squat so he was going outside. Now he's looking for food I think so who knows.
I'm 9 rows away from the middle of the blanket and the decreasing begins! So I will be working toward that today!

Wow, what an late evening/night we had. Thunder, lightening, and RAIN!!! It started around 10PM. I got up at 11PM and looked out front.... water was running down the street - from curb to curb. I fell asleep while the storm was going on. The patio and ground has puddles of water on them this morning. We may get another storm late today again!!! Sure hope so.

BP was 126/79 at noon yesterday but dropped to 96/64 around 4PM.   So it looks like I should plan on staying home with the walker handy every other day when I take the half pill. I will give it another week and if that continues will let the Neuro doc know. Can't tell if the hand tremors are better yet. <<< sigh >>>

I did get the laundry done yesterday. Had to LOL as it was mainly nightgowns, underwear and housecoats. Guess I had a lot of PJ days the past couple of weeks.

@faerywings So sorry about the problems with the MoB dress. Hope the seamstress says she can fix it - without costing an arm and a leg!! And... it was a PITA to have the dishwasher quit for good!!! Mine has given me fits occasionally the past year - hope it keeps working for awhile longer!

@LSlycord Glad you are enjoying the cardinals coming around. Can't say as I blame you for withdrawing the offer on the lot if you don't get the variance in writing.

Good morning ladies. Remi is whining to go out but I wanted to pop in and say hi. I've been so scattered and running in all directions lately. Time flies and I realize I haven't been online hardly at all. We'll be betting the house ready and leaving during the showing today. We'll go to the dog park. Then we'll pop back home to change and head out for an anniversary dinner at a local restaurant for a couple we've known for years. Tomorrow should be relaxing as we have no showings booked but of course that can change anytime.

@faerywings Glad you got your dress and hope that the damage is fixable.
@LSlycord Your trip will be so much fun.

Gotta go, Remi is lying her head in my lap and whining at me LOL. HAGD everyone.

Good afternoon, lovies.

I feel like I've been gone for days. Yesterday was totally crazy with my computer problems and took up so much of my time. I was so far behind by the time I got the problems fixed - I had only uploaded 3 Color Plays the night before and yesterday was also my first day of the weekend postings of CP on IG. UGH. SO far behind, but I THINK I'm almost caught up. I also had two other CT layouts to post and promote everywhere. Thanks so much Chris @faerywings and Linda @LSlycord for sending me the "get the gremlins out vibes". One thing we ALL know - computer problems really shut us down!! I panicked because Iwas afraid I was going to have to call the IT guy and he probably couldn't have made it out until today. That's when I texted Susie @pachimac and had her post that I might be MIA. I couldn't even get online at all and don't have much luck getting on here with my phone, for some reason. I've tried and it always messes up my login and I use a private search engine, so that doesn't play nicely, either. But enough about my day yesterday. :floorlaugh::floorlaugh:

Chris @faerywings I'm sorry to hear that you have to get a new dishwasher - yep more money on the old credit card. Seems a lot of people are living off theirs these days. That stinks about the dress too. What are the odds? Hopefully, you can get an answer from the seamstress (as far as I know that's still what they're called) - how about "a person who loves making clothes fit better??? :floorlaugh::floorlaugh::floorlaugh: So, what did I miss about your monitor? I feel like I'm so far behind with all y'all.

Linda @LSlycord you're having problems with Photoshop? What is this, a mass computer problem phase? Hope you got your problem fixed for good. I was having trouble with mine switching from RGB Color to Grayscale, but I finally got that figured out. It's always something!! Glad it's a bit cooler there and you're enjoying the birds.

Kay @BrightEyes sounds like your BP is still jumping around. Hope they get your meds figured out so it can be normal and you don't need the walker plus you can go out and drive.

Rae @bcgal00 good luck with your showings today and Vicky @vickyday, you're really cruising along with the baby blanket.

Hugs to everybody and HAGD. Today I'm grateful to have a computer that's working like it's supposed to and I have my new mouse which I love.

UGH!!!! I am in a MOOD!
:hiding2:

Honestly, it is safe to be around me. I am just frustrated and angry at myself. Not even angry, mostly aggravated at my inability to make any decisions. Aggravated. Hmmph.
I was in a fine mood all day -aside from the FP, which is another story. I tried the dress on and I still love it. I really do. ♥ I sent the pictures of it to the seamstress and got a reply from the assistant right before I went to bed last night. It has been eating at me ever since. The dress can be altered- yay! But... I will lose a lot of the flare at the bottom and she hopes it won't look "stupid that low."
So now what do I do? :banghead:
I have been looking at the photos and it really might look stupid if an entire foot needs to come off the bottom. Is it going to lose the whole "flow" of the dress? But will that happen with any dress I get? Do I return the dress and keep looking? I have plenty of time. Maybe there is a line of petite evening dresses somewhere. Or am I always going to look back at this one and say that I missed my opportunity?
Then I get really angry at myself. It's a freaking *dress.* All of the crazy things happening in the world and I am all knotted up over a dress. It's pretty pathetic.

Thanks for letting me get it out of my system somewhat. I am going to have to ask Caitlyn what she thinks. She'll be honest with me. If I ask Gary he'll say that I look beautiful no matter what. Which is really nice to hear but not helpful at this point. ;)

FP was a big fat bust. We got there 10 minutes after the official start time and by the time we got our order filled they had run out of almost everything. I am always very grateful for whatever I get and I totally understand that it is a gift to me. It stunk mostly because after buying the dishwasher, I was already freaking out about money more than usual.

My plans for today: Dirt Therapy. I never made it outside yesterday and there is a lot of changing of the season work to be done. And more ^%#$$% aphids on my milkweed. *throws hands in the air* I hope that Dirt Therapy works today. It might make me more aggravated. hahah!

Today I am grateful that it's beautiful day to be outside.

@LSlycord I realized (reaffirmed, really) that as much as I would have liked to say that we didn't need to spend the $$ on a dishwasher, there is no way I could live without one. Guess who has been washing 99% of them so far and it hasn't even been 48 hours? ;)
How was the card class? I hope that you met a lot of really nice people.
Oh jeez, that stinks about the land. Did you get any updates from the HOA yesterday?
I guess I need to figure out how to get myself cleaned up to leave the house.
:lol23: THIS IS SO ME!

@vickyday I totally get Mark being tired and going squat, then tired of not doing squat. It is really hard for me to sit still.

@BrightEyes yay for the rain! I hope that you get some good, steady rain so it has time to soak into the ground.
Ok, so that stinks that your BP is still dropping but it's good that you know to expect it. Hopefully, your body will adjust to it and it won't keep dropping.
I am giggling at your laundry and PJ day comment.

@bcgal00 The photo you posted of Remi had me LMBO. That picture summed up her personality so well, doesn't it? *G*
*fingers crossed that the showing went well*
Cait and Tom are looking at two houses today but they aren't feeling all that positive about it.

@Cherylndesigns yay for kicking out the computer gremlins! :stupicpc: I can't do a lot of computer-y things on my phone either. Everything is too darn small for one.
I hate Credit cards. We *never* carried a balance until Gary got sick. I try to pay with cash from cleaning as much as possible cleaning but I'd have to clean a whole lotta houses to be able to pay for a dishwasher. :housekeeping:
My monitors were flickering off the other morning and I got an alert for something with the graphics card. It hasn't happened since, so I have every last finger and toe crossed it was just a small glitch, and now it's done.

Wooo hooo Vicky!!! It's all downhill from here. In a good way!

We had a small rain shower last evening... nothing like the night before. Woke up to 67 this morning! Ah.... blessed coolness this morning!! dance3 But it won't last long - hot again by this afternoon. And - on the not so good note - the BP was down to 98/65 in the late afternoon yesterday... and I had not taken the new BP half pill yesterday!!! So I will be skipping 2 days to see if that helps keep it in the normal range.

I was mixed up on when Aug ended... thought it should be tomorrow...but NO... not until Friday. Good thing that the date is on the computer every day. I have been looking for a pocket calendar for my purse but they are not out for 2024 yet. I miss having one there so I can make sure I don't accidently schedule doctor's appointments on the same day. :bouncing:I did discover that 2017 has the same date/day as this year, so I put that small 3" calendar in my purse to mark appointments until I can find a pocket calendar for 2024, I really need to clean out what I have in my purse as it seems like it weights a ton!!! Hmmmm... maybe I could move some items from purse to the car.

I was in a fine mood all day -aside from the FP, which is another story. I tried the dress on and I still love it. Good morning ladies. The couple that saw the house yesterday wanted a bigger yard so didn't want the house. We went for our friends' anniversary dinner but the restaurant food wasn't great. Had fun chatting with everyone though. I will get Remi to the dog park this morning before the heat ramps up. I'll do a bit of scrapping later. No big plans for the day. No listings booked this week yet other than the realtor tour on Tues so it'll be a quiet couple of days.

@faerywings Hope the dress situation gets figured out, either returned or altered. Good luck to C&T on the home hunting.

@vickyday Enjoy your quiet day, knitting away.

@Cherylndesigns Computer woes are so inconvenient.

The dogs are in loud play mode now so I need to go intervene and quiet the energy down. I've been awake for 40 min and still have only managed to drink 1/4 of my coffee so far. Such is the life of a dog owner LOL.

HAGD everyone.

Good afternoon. Adrienne and I just got home; we ran into Tropical Smoothie, then on to Walmart. She needed groceries and I just kind of poked around. Gor me some new super soft and cozy new stretchy pants and a matching top to sleep in, some headbands and looked for make-up but they were out of the color I use (of course). I don't rave about food very often, but it's "Mango Madness"" at Tropical Smoothie. I LOVE mango anything. I had a Mango Cosmo Smoothie and a mango, bacon and brie panini sandwich. It was SO good. I actually brought the sandwich home with me because it was way too hot to eat and I knew we wouldn't be in Wally's too long. I give it 4 Stars! I have no other plans today, but want to do a couple more of the pre-releases.

Chris @faerywings so sorry that your trip to the FP was a disappointment. That sucks about the dress too and I do the same thing - I stress over things like that until I'm about sick. I totally get it about the dress - WHY do we have to be so short?????? I rarely find anything that isn't out of proportion - the sleeves are usually too long and the pants ALWAYs are. Why don't you try a petite size? I actually used to go up one size and buy petite winter coats. My usual size didn't work, but I went up one size and it was perfect. I should really start trying that with clothes. If what you're saying is going to alter the flow.....................that's not good. Cait will be honest with you - have her pin it up for you and then maybe you can get a true vision of how it works.

I'm going to scoot (not bounce) out of here and try to get my head on straight - we went kind of early and I got ready so fast that I feel really disorganized.

Hugs to ALL and Happy Sunday.

And there are the opposite problems for tall women.......the "normal" clothes I would buy.....the sleeves are too short, the waist is too high, the legs are too short! Add to that a big chest.....and the neck is usually too big and the shoulders too wide!

Good afternoon. The day has slipped away. Like so many days do. Went to the card making class yesterday afternoon and had a good time. Two of the women were talking about how they got started with paper scrapbooking. Of course, I chimed in with the same but said that I switched to digital. They couldn't imagine why anyone would do that. ;) Oh I have millions of reasons of course. But it was fun to be cutting and gluing paper. I may start making a few cards...don't think that I will be doing paper scrapping again though. There were 6 of us there and one of the women was from Iowa.

Had to get up this morning and head to the storage facility because Syd needed her notes from last semester's Statics class. So we went over and found them, showed them to her and she said she could wait until next weekend for them so we will take them to her next weekend and take her to brunch or dinner. So that is something to look forward to.

@faerywings I know "it's only a dress" but it is a VERY SPECIAL event and you want it to be just right. I don't have a petite bone in my body so I'm not sure how to even give good advice. I hope that the Dirt Therapy does the trick! Still too hot for that here.

@vickyday glad that you are getting a day of rest today and that the rows are shrinking.

@Cherylndesigns that mango sandwich sounds yummy. Mango is a favorite of Syd's too! I hadn't ever tried a mango until we moved down here.

@BrightEyes I am so sorry that your BP is dropping like that. It sure doesn't sound right at all. Hope the doc can get it figured out soon.

@bcgal00 anxious to hear the feedback that you get from the realtors. I have said that I will host a Secret Santa on the Cruise since we are traveling over Christmas. I need to get it figured out so I can post it in the Facebook group.

Talk to you all later.

I really hadn't had much mango either until we moved to Florida. I absolutely LOVE it - you need to take Syd there - she'll LOVE the smoothies and the sandwiches. Being from Iowa you'll appreciate this - in Indiana, we called green peppers "mangoes" isn't that funny? I guess it's a Midwestern thing, maybe just an Indiana thing. People in Michigan looked at us like we had two heads. It's so funny the local things we say. I've never called a green pepper a mango since we left Indiana.

That's so coincidental that one of the women in your card class was from Iowa. When we first moved to FL, I went to a couple of scrapbooking classes. I had been paper scrapping since we lived in Michigan and continued to do it in Florida for a few years. One of my neighbors paper scrapped and we used to scrap together. I don't think I could ever do it again because of the mess it makes. I used to destroy my scrap areas - Chuck used to say "it's no wonder they call it "SCRAP' booking. :floorlaugh::floorlaugh: Then, after we moved to Florida (still paper scrapping) I was on a couple of card making CT's. I had cards out the wazoo. The best CT I was on was with Crafter's Companion -they made the pre-cursers to the Copic markers. They sent me an entire set - I felt like I'd won the lottery.

LOL... about problems with getting clothes to fit - I am 5'3" and wear a tall in pants/dresses but have short arms and am short from knees down plus have a DD chest!!! That is why I made most of my clothes. When DD#2 who is 5'9" and I knelt on our knees next to each other... my shoulders were 2" taller than hers and my waist even with hers. For pants - I usually buy talls then cut off 2" of the length and hem them.... Or I buy petite length and then sew/cut about 2" in the stride seam...

Kay, you're shorter than me. You must have really long legs, though. Are you high waisted? I'm very low waisted and if I get pants that fit me in length (sort of) they come half way up on my rib cage. I yi yi - Then it sounds like both of us have tall daughters and you should see my grandkids - I feel like a tiny person in a forest when I'm around them. Growing up, my mom sewed for us and when I learned to sew, I did what was then called "Streth N Sew". Do you happen to remember that? You could alter the patterns to whatever size you needed. I loved it because I could make my shorts and pants low waisted. Also, my oldest DD, Adrienne, was always tall and skinny. She, at one time, wore a size 12 in length, but was a size 6 around. I made almost all of her clothes.

I found a pair of "semi-tight" jeans at TJ Maxx, cropped, so the length was good, but when I tried them on and sat down on the stool in the dressing room, they about cut me in half. :floorlaugh: :floorlaugh:

NO, NO, NO long legs! And I am NOT long waisted, either. Just a well proportioned long body from the head to the knees! DD#2 is the only tall one - DD#1 and DD#3 are short like I am but they don't have the tall body. Hubby was 6' 1" and the boys and DD#2 take after him. LOL... yes, I remember the "Stretch N Sew" patterns.
