Happy weekend to you! I am a bit sleepy still, woke up at 4.30, drifted until a little after 5 but stayed in bed until the coffee pot beeped at 6. Yesterday I had a crummy sinus headache, autumn allergies are starting. I was outside and sneezing my head off. I almost expected one of my neighbors to yell bless you. Overall, I had a "puttery" day. Cleaned the mess that the tacos left in the kitchen. Notice that I am 100% blaming the tacos on the mess, not me. That is the way to do it. Cait and I played with the rats for a long time. Livvie and Dill were acting so crazy! The babies were pretty calm while the two older ones where escaping from the cage, trying to take off with the box of treats- basically acting like the babies do. It was like a Freaky Friday mashup.

Not much happening today. Cait and I are off to the FP. I am good on canned goods but the local farms donate produce so if I can some of that I will be happy. Scott and I are cooking dinner together. I never made the tomato and eggplant pasta so he offered to help me.

Wishing everyone a happy and pleasantly more exciting day than I will have.

xoxoxo!

Felis- if it helps, I am having similar issies- hard to find something to read/watch/do that really grabs me. Hope that it passes soon! Whiel you wait, have fun in the garden. Glad that my silly family makes you smile too.

good morning - well the humidity is back but my DH and I had Luther at the park. You could tell that he was getting hot! He was given water breaks but he is wearing a fur coat. But it was a nice walk until I realize that I am hearing the leaves and some are turning colors. It will be hot today and tomorrow. The first round of the hockey play offs has ended. We are down to the final 8. So no more day time hockey I will miss that. But I will not be missing one of the broadcasters who is this terrible sexist know it all. He has been this way through the play offs. He said watching hockey with out fans is like the lack of fans for watching women's hockey. Really. Then last night he says good thing there are no women around to be a distraction in the bubble. What the heck. Well the NHL was not happy. I talked to my DH about it and he understands that women do the job and are not distracting when doing their job. Fortunately NBC has taken him off the air. What a joke. My sister told me about a new song she just heard about "Boys will be Boys" by Dua Lipa. It has a catching tune and the you should take a look at the lyrics. So now I am watching fluff on Netflix, the Hart of Dixie. Just a show about do the girls end up with the correct guys. My son made it home. So that is good.

Chris a day of puttering is good. Sorry you were up so early. Good luck at the FP and hope they have lots of veggies and fruits.

Trudy I know how Heather feels. I don't have kids going back to school but I have a DH and they are still getting their ducks in a row. I sure hope this gets sorted out soon so everyone can have time to adjust to this new school reality.

Kay Reese's are my favorite and they always find their way in my cart. Enjoy.

Felis hope you find some fun to watch. Enjoy the garden.

Have a great day.

Good morning ladies... The sun is shining, its going to be a beautiful day!! :bliss: A nice day to go to the wine festival, we only have one reservation today at the Rocky Creek Winery, the other vineyards that we have to see yet, do not take reservations  So we might only do one other one today and leave the last two on the list for next weekend. At the end of the month we can send in our passports with all of the stamps of the winery's we visited and we will be put into a draw for a case of wine. Keep your fingers crossed for us LOL. We also have to do grocery shopping today, the only reason we are going into the store this time is because DH needs three 5 gallon bottles of water for his wine making. Other wise I would be doing it all online. I hate going into the stores now! Yesterday's trip to Walmart was unsuccessful they did not have what I wanted in stock, but I was pleasantly surprised to have lots of help trying to find it. That never happens! The website said they had what I wanted, but sadly there was none in the store, more coming in the next week so that means I will have to mask up and go in again next week.

Chris - I love that Cait is selling on her Etsy shop, such cute hammocks, here is a suggestion for her shop... Masks with little rats on them, I wonder if she could incorporate her cute little stickers into the material?? Just a suggestion LOL. Sorry you are having a hard time trying to concentrate on a book or TV show, it happens to me also. I flit around the house going from one project to another, but never finish one off LOL. How nice that you and Scott will be cooking together! I miss having Jason around to help me cook, he loves to cook and he is really good at it. That was one thing I made sure my kids learned was to cook and they are both very good at it! Heather doesn't care for it as much as Jason, but she puts out some pretty tasty meals! Hope you get what you need at the FP this morning! Hope that the allergies are not so bad today! Oh and in case you are sneezing a lot today then I will say Gesundheit!! LOL.

Kay - Had to laugh at the chocolate treat somehow making its way into your shopping cart! Hope that the smoke is not so bad for you today and I will happily send you the rain that we have had, which has now moved on to somewhere else and we are happy to see the sun again!

Felis - I don't blame you for not going shopping with the rest of your family!! I really don't want to go either! Sure hope you get inspired to do some scrapping or reading, but it is nice that you can be out in the garden at least! Hope you are having lovely weather and please give all of fur babies some rubs behind the ears for me!

Hi to Jean,Nancy and Cheryl this morning and anyone else who pops in today!

Ok DH is wondering if would like to join him out on the deck for a coffee? How can I say no, my cup is empty and it will be nice to sit in the sunshine! Have a wonderful weekend everyone!!

Hi Nancy we cross posted! Wow how horrible to hear what that broadcaster has been saying! Good for the NHL taking him off the air! Hope you get to enjoy the rest of the playoffs without him!! Enjoy your warm weekend!

Hello lOvelies!
Nope, the afternoons are still to hot, so I spend mine yesterday at Instagram, which was very nice! But after 6pm I was able to work at the garden for 2 hours before diner. My family is very strict about our diner time, so I had to join them at 8pm and until we finished our diner around 8:50 outside was already dark, WOW, days are really get shorten! I wasn't able to do anything more and have lots of yard work left for today and tomorrow evening too. I don't think we have any autumn flowers, as they was mostly yearly hybrids and this spring we don't had chance to buy and plant new.

Chris, aww so cute to cook with Scott! Hope you was able to get farm's products! It's definitely helps me to know that I'm not the only one without mojo! I have this list with ideas, but every time when I force myself to scrap (as today) I'm feeling like I'm already made this page thousand times and don't left satisfied or feeling joy from the process  !

OMG, Chris, I just saw at the other thread Cait's Etsy shop, greetings for that! I wish her good luck! Personally I hated my Etsy store and closed it fast, but my sister is very happy and successful using this platform. Hope Cait will be too! She is so creative! It's sad that $7 in US worth less than here and she don't receive what really deserve! I'm often see Leah doing excellent job at Instagram promotion, so Cait have great inspiration too.

Nancy, ouch, some people are just jerks or too thirsty for attention! I know this song, it's really meaningful, indeed. At the same time so many nice boys are confused how to deal with independent women and we all finished lonely! Also In my country have two youtube podcasts first by 2 very kind nice men who talk about fitness, but also food and relationships. The second is by 3 men who talk about fitness and relationships, but one of them is just an awful sexist you can imagine, giving the most horrible advises. Of course the second podcast have more followers, and I'm just terrified how many stupid girls left him messages on their life chat! :scared:

Trudy, enjoy your vineyards visit and I wish you luck for this draw for a case of wine!
Oh, how sweet, I definitely handed the rubs from you to my cats. I had a lovely lovely day with them. Usually they are disinterested what I'm doing, but yesterday they was come and sunbathing around me until I was cutting flowers, just to makes me company. I didn't have the phone in my, but it was cute moment!

GooOd morning, is everyone having a nice weekend?
It got hot here yesterday afternoon and I think it is going to be the same today. I didn't work in the yard at all but I plan to do that today. I have to say that I wish I knew when we would have a washing machine again, summer is not the best time to be without one. Lots of sweaty and dirty clothes piling up -- not good! *holds nose*

Overall, I had a good day yesterday. Nothing very exciting but good. There wasn't much in the way of produce at the FP but I got some frozen chicken and Italian bread. I started the application for our heating assistance and it was hard having to write that Scott and I are unemployed. I still need Cait to get me her school schedule printed so I can that in the mail tomorrow. Who knows how long it will take to get back to the County office for processing? It really makes me so sad that this country is such a mess ATM. :(

Gary's parents gave us their old wii and he set that up for me in the bedroom. I can do some yoga and balancing exercises on it. Today I have to finalize my shopping order to be picked up tomorrow. That and being outside is all that is on my plate for now.

Gratitudes:
-not having to cook dinner last night, Scott did a great job of that
-spendign some time with Caitlyn working on a puzzle
-Caitlyn sold two more small pet hammocks! :whoo:

hugs!

Nancy- yup, HHH again! Poor Luther, he must have been wiped out after the park. It is making me sad that the leaves are starting to change, you can tell that Autumn is getting closer. *sobs silently for a while*
Oh no, those are terrible things for the hockey broadcaster to say. Demeaning and ignorant. Good to see him go, don't let the door hit ya on the way out!
The Hart of Dixie doesn't sound like something Gary and I would watch but we are seriously running out of things to stream. Fear the Walking Dead comes back in Oct but that is well over a month away. I wonder if any other shows will be back?
I hope that your DH and his school has a better grasp on things soon. When does the semester officially start? Cait's first day is Sept 2. She has to do her training for the Internship and the guy who is training her hasn't been sure if it is going to be in-person or not. All I can say is that the reports coming out from the schools already open isn't looking very promising. :(

Trudy- how was the vineyard? I bet that you are having so much fun, what a great deal that was. Have you found a new wine that you like? Good luck on winning a case!
hehe! I said to Gary yesterday that I am actually looking fwd to being able to go in to shop for groceries. It is horrible trying to read ingredient labels online. I going a recipe for an Asian Stciky Rice/chicken sounded good and I figured I could cook the chicken separately. But all of the Korean sauces had wheat and/or soy sauce in them and the one that I found that didn't had fish sauce. :frusty:
(Maybe it isn't actually the food shopping per se but the family diets that are causing me grief! LOL)
That is a cute idea for her to make masks with rats! I don't know if she has any fabrics that could work but next time she places an order, that might be something to look for TFS!!!! She, Leah, and their friend Sam are discussing doing a collab project. Sam screenprints so the three of them might be able to do something like that. Sam gave Caitlyn her Wacom since she hated it and Sam and Leah have already combined Sam's screenprinting on Leah's paintings so there is a lot of opportunity. It is nice seeing the ladies working together so well.

Felis- Oh my- you eat dinner at 8 pm!!!!!!!!?????? haha! I am in bed usually by 9. We eat dinner at 5. It used to be closer to 6 when Gary was working at got home around 6, then we moved it up when the kids were in Elem school and had things to do afterward. When they were little, we had to be at the bus stop at 6.45 am so they had to be in bed earlier too. It has been dark here by 8 or so and I know that in a few months I will be wishing for that.
I hope that we both find some mojo to scrap soon too! Thanks for liking Cait's Etsy shop. It is good for some gas money but also good for her to feel like she is doing something productive. Scott is still struggling with that so much.

Jean- hope you are well!
Good luck with the move, Cheryl!

 to all of you!

Yesterday I finished the drawing of which you saw the beginning. It's on my blog now: http://scrap-genie.blogspot.com/2020/08/drawing-99-they-had-hoped.html.

As to weather, we had gorgeous days at least since Wednesday, though then they were cool. I had a new sweatshirt come Wed. and put it on and just wore it. We went to Walgreens then a little birding. Not as many birds as two weeks earlier, but lovely to be out. Since Wed. not sure what I did until yesterday when I participated in a day of Zoom sessions for a local genealogy group put on by the genealogy dept. of the Allen County Public Library in Fort Wayne, Indiana. It was really nice but it was in place of a trip there for research that would have been better.

Chris, things seem to be sort of OK for you which these days could be considered good. Can't imagine having to juggle all the dietary needs of your family though. DH wanted me to do something different with the chicken breasts I get so I tried ginger and lime. Unlike you with the big hunk of ginger, I couldn't find any at our store last trip. Instead I liberally sprinkled ground ginger on one side and browned that good sprinkling lime zest on the top then browned that side. When well browned on both sides I poured on the juice of half a lime and covered at reduced heat. I served it with my sort of fried rice and had a little juice left on the chicken to add to our plates. We both seemed to like it. And it was different even though barely changed process. Love hearing about Cait collaborating with the other two.

Nancy, hockey continues today, so I know you'll be watching. Luther can't be enjoying the heat though. Good luck to your DH with preparing for school with so much up in the air.

Trudy, the wine tasting must have been lovely again. I agree that was a super plan to get into. And good luck with winning!!

Felis, well we don't eat until about 8:00 either, but it doesn't get dark here quite as early as for Chris as we are in the same time zone but I'm a lot farther west. We had a kitty laying out near the bird feeder this morning but it seemed most interested in critters in the ivy (chipmunks) but didn't have any luck so went off. Made me think of you and your kitties, so give them an ear scratch for me too. Sad you didn't get to plant flowers for the fall.

Kay, hope your heat and smoke aren't so bad.

Cheryl, wishing you a great move to Oklahoma! Will you be anywhere near Momma O?

Grateful
for summer
birds at the feeder
sports on TV
actually doing a drawing!

Been dragging a little today. Stayed up too late reading "Did You Miss Me?" by Karen Rose. Got hooked on it - finally finished it at 1:15AM. YIKES!!! Have a few or Karen Rose's books on reserved at the library. Should have them early this week as they were all on the shelf there. Didn't wake up until almost 9 AM and still feeling sleepy. Decided to do the scalp treatment that has to stay on for 3 hours so won't get my shower/shampoo until mid-afternoon. Need to have it done before the family video chat later this afternoon.

Oh, wow... I picked up a Kingsford Barbecue boneless pork ribs entree at the commissary last week. It was so good and had enough in it for a couple of meals. Nice to have a different prepared entree for a change. I fixed cubed potatoes with oil and Montreal Seasoning plus a fresh veggie salad... it was a feast fit for a Queen!

Still having temps in the upper 90's - 100 and the smoke haze is hanging around so didn't open the house up today. Going to stay inside as much as possible for the next few days.

Yesterday, I talked to my Sister who is positive for Covid-19. She has a cough but so far nothing worse so far. Will be keeping in contact with her every few days. Also talked to my cousin who lives near Tampa, Florida.. she has her manufactured home strapped down and hurricane shutters on the windows. Can't believe that there are 2 TS heading into the Gulf of Mexico at the same time.

Chris, I saw Cait's rat hummocks on FB... they are adorable! So creative and great photos of the rats. Glad you got the Wii - maybe that will encourage you to do your exercise/PT. Don't know whether to be glad/sad that your weather is hot again or not. I am really looking forward to some cooler weather. My state has been from 10*-15* above normal all of August and not enough rain from the 'monsoon season'. I agree that it is easier to 'shop in person' so you can read the ingredient labels, etc. With all your family's different food needs, it must be quite a challenge for you.

Felis... I have supper/dinner around 5-6 PM and like Chris am usually heading for bed around 8-9PM even though I don't go to sleep until later. Yes, it dark by 8PM here now. I remember when DH and I were in Europe that dinner hours usually were later 7:30 - 9 PM. Hope you get to work in the garden more as it seems to be a joy for you.

Trudy, what a treasure trove of wines you picked up. Glad you are enjoying the Wine Passport event.

Jean, glad you got a few cool days, too. Wow... putting a sweatshirt on already!!! Looking forward to when I can do the same. I am more than ready for fall!

Cheryl, think of you this weekend. Know you are more than ready to get on the road to your new home. Save travels, gal.
