Happy Weekend, O-Fam!!

That is more things crammed into one day than I have had in a long time. the next thing you know I will be complaining that I was *too* busy hahahaha!!
I was really busy yesterday but I did it!! And I promise I won't complain. My day was pretty darn upside down but I felt useful. That is different than I normally feel. BFF texted me to see if I could meet her earlier than we planned so I finished up the stuff I was doing around the house, hopped in the car, and was off. Then I proceeded to drive around in circles at the active living community where her mom lives. The place is enormous! I ended up parking and texted her that I had no clue where I was but to text me when she got there. I would wander around for her to find me. I haven't seen her mom in a few years and she cried when she saw me. And cried some more. And called to thank me after I got home- while crying. BFF kept rolling her eyes --her mom is very dramatic.
I feel so bad for BFF, so many big decisions to make for her mom and mom doesn't make it easy. But it was great seeing BFF as always.

Scott's friend came over and we went through Cait's taxes. It looks like I did everything correctly and that Cait is going to end up owing. @#^$%%%^ But at least I know that I tried everything possible to help. I also had to call my mom and omg- she and my dad have terrible colds. My brother had dropped off soup for them and she swears that they are eating fine. Her blood work came in and showed that the potassium levels went down a bit so that was a huge relief. She says that she is going to call "early in the week" to schedule the pacemaker.
I know you all get it-- but it was easier dealing with toddlers than it is with elderly parents. Right?? :D

Do you have any good stuff happening today? It is raining here again. We got 4" on Thursday and most of that is in my basement.:/
Keeping my eye on Tuesday and Wed-- sunny and near 70* But today I need to catch up on some laundry and would love to finish our taxes and the LO for Kay's challenge.

HAGD!! xo

@tanteva I am so sorry that you got snow-- how is it today? Tell Agatha that if she wants, I will move to FL where the weather is warm :D

@BrightEyes Please tell me that you and Chari slept better last night and had no nightmares. *fingers crossed* Seriously, the weather here is bonkers too. Driving out of town, roads were flooded and rivers of mud were all along the sides of the roads. Sure, rain in April is normal but not hours and hours of thunderstorms. I hope that it settles down all over the country soon.
I hear ya on burning out on scrapping and I did nowhere near the same number of LOs as you did.

@bcgal00 What the wah? You broke your toe?? My goodness, that must have made everything so much harder getting packed up. It is really so exciting to hear about how the house is filling up. and to have a "real" home-cooked dinner-- *clinks champagne glasses* Congrats!!!

@Cherylndesigns yikes-- sounds like everyone has crazy weather the night before. Is it any calmer today?
For real-- crutches are the worst, I mean, I can barely stand still on 2 feet and not fall. LOL!!
I wish I could have helped more with BFF and her mom. BFF was so stressed out just trying to sort all of her mom's meds into a pill box. It took the two of us a half hour to do it together and make sure we didn't make any mistakes. hah, Newark airport is bad on a good day, can't imagine with the wild rain NJ was having. Yikes

@taxed4ever Oh no-- how early did your FIL get to the restaurant?? Did you have a nice visit with everyone at least?
Hope that the weather is better by you so when you and your Gary run errands (cuz I know you will LOL) you won't get wet or blown away

Hi, all. Woke up a few times last night but no bad nightmares, thank goodness. Chari is sleeping in as she doesn't work on the weekends. Think she had a better night, too. I made the decision to cut the TV cable bill next week. Chari had brought down an indoor antenna and TV for the guest bedroom as it had no cable access. We hooked the antenna up to the family room TV to try it out and I was amazed at all the channels I could get with it. I mainly watch local news, the weather channel and that's it. I watch DVDs if I want to see a movie. Found out I could get all the local channels, a weather channel, news channel and lots of others so no need to keep paying the $$$ each month. I can keep my phone and internet without the TV service. I bought a new small indoor antenna with a smart booster for the family room. I was amazed at the clarity and high def picture it had. Someday I will replace my TV in there for a smart TV and get a streaming service but I am happy with the TV I have now. I will save enough $$$ on no cable bill in just a few months to more than pay for a smart TV!!! Will make the 30 mile trip over the local cable office on Tuesday to turn in the cable boxes.

@faerywings Glad you finally found your BFF's mom's place. So nice that you could help get her mom ready. Nice that you finally finished Cait's Taxes but sorry that she had to pay so much. And a shame that Scott has been having periods of the blues over the break-up... it will take time before that fades into the past for him. The family and other friends are the support he needs right now. <<< hugs to him and you >>>

Oh... hear Chari getting up so need to get breakfast started. CYL

Good morning ladies! What a week! Work is crazy...I'm trying to get my project in a good place before I leave for vacation which is 3 weeks from today!

Shaun is still peeing blood. This is the 3rd round of antibiotics. They know he has a UTI but can't figure out why. He has a cystoscopy scheduled for Wednesday morning. They have done 2 CTs and an MRI. Haven't found anything...ugh. This has been going on about 3 months. I am irritated beyond belief...what a stupid medical system we have down here. Probably everywhere. It is over worked and stressed with everything that is going on. But, at some point, I'm going to stop with the empathy and let mama bear out of her cage. If they don't find anything on Wednesday, the next step is a nephrologist.

Shaun and I spent two evenings this week talking about old family photos and he documented them and burned them to a DVD for his class project. I am so appreciative of that history professor providing this project...it kicked my butt in getting a lot of photos scanned and documented. My summer project is to get these photos documented and scrapped. Well, at least some of these photos.

So Europe---I think that I'm almost done with the pre-planning. We have our flights, our train tickets (between Netherlands, France and UK). In Amsterdam we have tickets to Anne Frank's house (got up Tuesday morning at 5 am to be sure that we got them for the day we wanted) and an all day tour to Keukenhoff (sp?) to see the tulip fields. Plus windmills, shoe (wooden clogs) maker and cheese shop. In Paris we have a boat ride down the Seine after dark, family photos and the Louvre. In London we have an immersive theatre performance of Great Gatsby and My Fair Lady plus afternoon tea. And everything else is free time to be a tourist.

Purchased converters for all electrical devices, new carry on backpacks for each of us and an international phone plan while we are in Europe. I was so stressed about that...then I found that it was $10 a day for the first line and $5 a day for the others. You only get charged for the days that you use it. And, last but not least, I bought a new camera...a small point and shoot. Nothing crazy but it will make it easier and should take decent shots.

My sweet niece is bringing her family down here on Easter. They will stay until Thursday. Cannot wait to have them here. My paper chains are very short. Sydney still needs to figure out the roommate thing. And life keeps moving.

Good morning ladies. Got lots of unpacking done yesterday, went to a local dog park that the dogs loved and then went to Save-On for a few groceries. We decided to order pizza from what is supposed to be one of the two best pizza places here. I called as we were driving home and no one answered the phone. I realized they were closed for the night. Most places close at 7 and I called at 6:55. So then we decided to check out the other Save-On that is 5 minutes past our house in the opposite direction. We enjoyed the drive as we hadn't gone that way before. There are hardly any businesses up that way but we passed a little pizza place so we pulled in, they were open and we ordered pizza. They are the only one around here that is open until 9. We got such great service, he offered free drinks, gave us free dips to try out and the pizza was good. It is a little family business. I will definitely order again. We watched the first 4 episodes of Killing Eve and had a good sleep.

Furniture is coming so I need to go hop in the shower and be ready for them. Jen and I will go shopping this afternoon, then over to a different dog park for a bit. I'll unpack a bit here and there but will slow down a bit for the wkend as my back was starting to feel worse which means its time to back off for a few days and spend more time relaxing and stretching.

I'll check in later. Gotta go.

OMG ... got tired from READING your plans. You sure crammed in a lot for your trip. LOL

It was snowing a tiny bit this morning, but it's not supposed to be anymore now. *crossing every possible body parts* I need spring!!!!

Went in to work today, even though I'm not working. Urban was working & I went along cuz it was "embroidery café". They meet once a month at the library & embroider (or knit/crochet) and have coffee/tea. Basically it's all about chatting and gossiping. LOL I've only been a couple of times, cuz the buses aren't matching the time, but when Urban works, I can go with him. It was really nice today, and it's only one more time before summer, I might have to force Urban to drive me there next month. I see way to little of other people.

Made tacos for dinner today. Tonight the plan is to watch third episode of American Song Contest. It's really not good, but we've seen the first 2, we might as well continue. It's such a bleak copy of our Eurovision Song Contest - and I'm a FANATIC when it comes to ESC. Love it! LOL

No plans for tomorrow. Guessing scrapping.

Morning everyone! A surprise of a sunny morning, it was supposed be raining! Spring weather here is crazy, if you don't like it just wait 10 mins. it will change! Lunch with all of the In-Laws was very nice, however the restaurant that we were going to go to was closed  . Not sure why, they were supposed to be open, but nope the doors were locked and it was all dark inside, not a soul to be seen. So we headed to another great place called the "Sawmill". The food was great and we had lots of laughs! Surprisingly FIL and MIL arrived shortly after we did LOL. However I found out from MIL that they drove around for quite awhile sightseeing as they had not been to Chemainus for quite some time. MIL could not believe how much it has changed, it was probably 10 years since they had been there. They don't get out much LOL. Got back home and spent some time puttering around the house, then DH and I enjoyed a glass of wine on the front porch. The wind started to pick up again and so we headed inside to watch the Boston Bruins/Tampa Bay game. A great game, despite the horrible officiating and the Bruins won in OT! @nancyr I miss your Hockey stories!! Had left over Fat Head Pizza for supper and settled in to watch a movie. As usual we did not see the ending, as we both fell asleep LOL. So might have to watch the last half hour again today. I did manage to get a page done and will get it posted to other sites today.

@faerywings - How nice of you to give your BFF a hand with her Mother! Sorry that she is a bit of Drama Queen though. At least you understand what she is like, you are a great friend! Happy to hear that your Mom has decided to make her appointment, hopefully she sticks to it! Sorry that your parents both have a cold though!! Yes sometimes its easier to deal with toddlers LOL. Ugh on Cait having to pay taxes, good to know that you did everything right to try to help her out! No rain so far today, so yes we should be able to keep dry while doing all of our errands today LOL!

@scrap-genie - Waving hello to you, hope you have a lovely day and that your meeting goes well!

@BrightEyes - Happy to hear that there were not nightmares for you last night! What a great idea to get rid of the costly cable! You will save plenty, by the sounds of it! Who knew that an antenna could give you such great quality picture and so many channels!! Hope you and your DD have a lovely day together!

@LSlycord - Oh my poor Shaun!! I sure hope someone can figure out WTH is going on!!! It must be such a worry! You have been very busy with your planning and purchasing for your upcoming trip! Not sure how you find the time with you working again also!

@tanteva - How fun to have a stitch and bitch group to join in on! LOL that is what my Mom used to call her group of ladies that she knit with. Hope spring arrives for you soon!

Ok off to make some brunch for DH and myself and then I guess I better see what I need in the way of groceries. Have a great Saturday everyone!

Good evening - I almost didn't make it in here. Then I see that - as per usual - I've been logged on all night and day!!! UGH - I hate when that happens. It looks like I'm online. Excuse my diligence - I was on here kind of late last night and noticed some posts that needed attending to, but must have forgotten to log out.

Chris @faerywings you're such a great friend - I know your BFF really appreciated everything you did for her and her mom. Glad your mom is going to schedule next week - keep your fingers crossed. About the pills - it used to be quite the ordeal to get Mom and Dad's pills all sorted out and put in their pill minders. We got great big (obnoxious) pill minders for them. First of all, Dad (especially) had a TON of pills and secondly, they were big and easy to read. It was a REAL job! Then, Mom never wanted to take hers - she always "counted" them and looked at us like we were trying to poison her. Then we could actually see her "counting" them with her tongue when they were in her mouth. Dad took FOREVER to take his - it drove us nuts. We used to tell him to just take them, but he drug it out for an hour or longer. We'd put his "allotment" in a little cup and it was like a huge sigh of relief when he FINALLY got them all down. It's not for the faint of heart!!!!

Glad you did Cait's taxes right but WHY do these kids have to pay????? I just don't get it!!! Why do ANY of have to? They tax us for EVERYTHING anyway - it's the land of taxes.

Yes, Adrienne came home and said she wouldn't want to live out where you live - no offense. LOL She was glad to get back to
the middle of nowhere". She said it was just crazy - and there were NO signs in that airport - they didn't know what to do or where to go.

Kay @BrightEyes glad you can get some good TV with the antenna - if you have a smart TV, there are lots of apps that are really cheap - you need one of those Roko thingies - at least that's what we got and we can get any apps we want. If you have Amazon Prime - they have their own app that comes with your membership. Lots of good stuff on there - that and Hulu and Netflix.

We just finished Dopesick on Hulu last night - what a mind-blower! Have any of you watched that?

I've been gone all day - just got home. The girls and I went to get pedis - they got gel fingernails but I just got a pedi - I was needing one. It's flip flop season. It's 73 currently at 5:15 PM and the wind has died down - thankfully. It's been terrible - and I'm glad it's died down. Casey and I decided to put off our work day because we had to make the call last night and the wind was terrible. Murphy's Law - it wasn't bad today. We got all of the lights for the front porch and the hangers, so it will happen. The weather is just up and down right now.

Group hugs to all and have a good weekend.

Well, finally. The sun is out and the weather looks like it is going to be warmer this upcoming week. Today it is still cold (freezing) but the next few days are going to be more like spring. Yippeee. I hope that the sun dries everything out fast because everything is mud. I can hear the sump pump running too.

I "finished" Cait's taxes yesterday and I need her to make sure that everything I did is correct b/c as of right now she might be getting money back from NJ. Why she would owe Federal but get back from State-- *huge shrug* Not a clue. I don't think I did much of anything else. I have a project set up for today- I have an under-the-bed storage box that has craft supplies from when I used to make faery wings to wear. Wire, stockings, feathers, ribbons are all shoved in there. If I can pack some of that stuff away and throw out the stockings, I can them move some of the yarn I have in boxes under my BR window into them. That will make my BR a bit tidier. At least look a bit tidier. In one area. ;)

Scott started the Park Ranger job today so I won't be seeing much of him anymore. He won't be home for dinners Sun-Wed. Cait isn't here for dinners Mon and Thursday. That takes some pressure off me trying to figure out what to make. At the same time, I don't want to get lazy(er) and not put any effort into it when it's just me and Gary. How sad that my entire "center" revolves around food!?! Bwuahaha!

have a fantastic day!!!

@scrap-genie *waves hi back* How was the meeting? One you were presenting or one you were attending?

@BrightEyes That must have been a relief to sleep better, for Chari too. Good for you to cut the cable cord! Thx again for the great template, I love the way my LO came out with it

@LSlycord 3 weeks until EU!! That is so exciting!!!
Poor Shaun, does the UTI hurt at all? Hope not. It cannot be fun to have all that poking and prodding either. The photo scanning/genealogy project must be so neat to share with him.
Your itinerary sounds incredible! I am so excited for you all and totally jealous! :D Is there one thing you are most looking fwd to? My Fair Lady? (me-- it would be the cheese shop hahah)

@bcgal00 That has to be weird to have so many things close so early in the new town. Glad that you found the 2nd pizza place. The family owners sound very attentive. Please take care of your back- let J and D take care of the dogs when you are out with them. You do not want to hurt your back while you still don't have a dr yet. (sorry for scolding)

@tanteva That is really nice that you went to the library to knit and chat. Mine has something like that but I am too self-conscious at how terrible a crocheter I am to actually go. I *should* suck it up and just do it but then anxiety hits.
Hope that you had a good time there and you got to spend the travel time chatting with that sweet hubby of yours.

@taxed4ever That must have been a surprise that the restaurant was closed, but great that you found a place that sounds wonderful too. How nice that everyone had a good time catching up. Sorry that the Bruins lost. I miss Nancy too. I commented on a FB photo that she was tagged in a couple of weeks ago but never heard back.

@Cherylndesigns hehe, I do that too, log in here, walk away - forget what I was doing, come back. If anyone ever sees that I am online but don't answer/react I am not ignoring you :p
My mom is a pill counter too. She goes by how many and of what color/shape. That ends up screwing her up because you know how often generic pills change manufacturers? Ugh! When the kids and I were on so many meds for Lyme I had a system where everyone had a basket for the bottles. Each bottle had red or blue dots - the number of dots for the number of pills to take. Then I had the days of the week also on the bottle top. (We would take some Rxs Sun-Sat, others were M-W, others were every other day) It was the only way I could keep it straight - I still do that even though I only take a few Rxs these days.
You are right-- NOT for the faint of heart!
Neither is Newark Airport! That area is "jokingly" called the armpit of NJ. *nods* Imagine coming home from vacation and landing there. It adds insult to injury. The kids still talk about the time we flew home from Cozumel, walked out of the airport, and the sky was brown. Blech
*cries* FLip- FLop season! Wah!! It is still fuzzy sock season here. maybe soon.

At least it isn't snowing. Hope it stayed that way by you to Eva! (shhhhhh)

Good morning ladies. Jen and I had a full afternoon of shopping. We stocked up on towels and sheets and then got a few things in Winners. I was happy to find Bulk Barn. It is the best place for spices, flour, rice, etc. They had a great seasoned salt that I sampled and brought some of that home. They also had big bags of bird seed. I used to shop at a bird store in Vancouver so wondered where I would get good seed here.

We weren't able to get the microwave mounted yesterday so this will will have to arrange for an install so looks like no microwave for awhile. I don't use it much but sure do like having it to warm up my coffee throughout the day.

Today is Jen's big Superstore grocery shop and I'll go with her to get a few things, don't need much but will keep her company. Then we'll go to Walmart across the street for a few things. We are going to take a drive later up into the grasslands with the dogs. It snowed here for about 2 hrs, just a sprinkle that cleared up by the afternoon. It sure looked pretty.

@tanteva I was thinking about tacos yesterday too (for Darrell, not me). I like to make tacos for him and burrito bowl for me with crushed tortillas overtop. I think I'll pick up the fixings for that today.

@taxed4ever Sounds like you had a great day yesterday.

@faerywings Hope that Scott enjoys the job.

I'm getting another coffee, checking the gallery and forum and then need to get ready to head out shopping with Jen. Have a good day everyone.

Back to waking up at 5AM. I was too hot under the covers but too cold without them... We actually got up to 81* yesterday and suppose to get to 80* today but have high winds for the rest of the week... and dipping back down to 50's for high on T, W, Thurs! Son-in-law came over yesterday and sprayed the weeds in the rocks before the wind kicked back up again.

I dug out the turkey carcass yesterday and made Turkey and dumpling for supper. Chari and I really enjoyed it... even had 2nd helpings. She begged to have it again today so guess it was a hit. Have more servings in tubs for the freezer, too. Have some apples that need to be used soon so plan on making apple crisp dessert either today or tomorrow. Chari said I was spoiling her by cooking all these meals. Told her it was nice to have someone here to cook for and to share the meal with. She is doing much better... finally able to put a bit of weight on the foot. Not walking on it without the walker but resting it on the floor without pain. She has been keeping it open to air to help heal the pressure sore most of the day. And she was able to do the shower solo - I just put the shower chair in place and the other shower stool for her to sit on to dry off. So glad to see her able to do more and more each day. She surprised me today... she was able to put her stretch jeans on... and rolled the left leg up to her knee. She has been living in the snapped legs pants since surgery (to fit over the cast and walking boot). Said she felt more like her 'old self' in the jeans. And she even decided she wanted to use the scooter and fry her own eggs for breakfast this morning.

No streaming services for me as the TV is NOT a smart TV. But I am not going to buy a new TV just to get that as mine is still sharp and clear. The BluRay player won't hold the signal enough for Chari to use her Netflex password so we gave up on that. She uses her laptop to watch it.

Sorry to cut this short without personals but it lunch time and I am still not dressed. CYL

Good afternoon. I'm getting ready to leave - going up to Adrienne's for a bit. One of the new kitties died and everybody;s sad. Stormie only had 3, so apparently, this baby just wasn't healthy. They are all so tiny.

Chris @faerywings congrats to Scott! He and Ryan would get along famously! Ryan is like a ranger - he's in charge of the whole, huge park. I had to laugh at your pill routine. EEKKK - that must have been a LOT of pills to keep track of. LOL - your mom is a "pill counter", too. They're so funny. Honestly, my mom always acted like we were trying to poison her. LOL "What are you giving me"? Us - "Same as every day". Then she'd roll her eyes and start the tongue count. Hahaha

We have the high winds back today! It let up yesterday but it's back. It is 78 here though so I can't complain. Sorry for the "flip flop season" Chris @faerywings - didn't mean to rub it in. And "the armpit of NJ". Hahaha It must be a big cluster!!

I gotta fun AND I did it again - was logged in all night. I'm with you Chris - if I'm logged on late at night - I probably forgot to log off. (Knocks self upside the head.)
