Happy Saturday! Yes, it is extremely early- I have been up since 5am. Why do dogs not get the concept of "weekend = sleep late!"
Tried to get back to sleep but it didn't work.It looks to be a gorgeous day today!
We are participating in my town's Beautification Day. This year just Cait and I- but we are going to our friends' house down the street for coffee and bagels, then off to clean up the neighborhood. Last year, we went to the picnic afterward and I won GC's to the local garden center. They give out prizes for "oldest" "oddest" "most valuable", etc types of garbage you find.
We are not able to go to the picnic today, so if I find anything cool, I'll send it along with my friend. Last year I found part of a really really old shoe, and the inside rusted out parts of a car's steering wheel.
Scott also won- I think he found a creepy doll head or something like that. hahaha-- good times in the mountains of NJ! (No we are NOT all Snookie's!!)

Enjoy your day!

Personals!

Yvon- hey girl! Thanks for the freebie alert!

Linda W- Tell our C-Man good luck at T-Ball today!!! And what kind of festival are you going to tomorrow? Hope you have a great weekend- can't wait to see pics (cuz we all know you'll be a great Nana snapping away!)

Stef- I would know nothing about yards/planting in your area. I am guessing you'll need lots of drought-resistant things. Good luck and have fun :)
oh and ITKWYM about the kids/hubby messing up as you go along- same thing here, it feels like.....

Oh Sally- that is a bummer- esp when it is a good post!
xoxoxo

Andrea- well, one good thing to look forward too- you package is going to get picked up today :)
Sorry about all of the running around. You have been at more drs in the past month than most people see in a year!
I had to do that with a CT or two, and I was asked to step down from another. Its a hard decision, but what is right for you, if you feel like you are not pulling your weight. I see people with tins of blinkies for CT's and I don't know how they do it! LOL

Janet- I keep hearing how g-kids are better than your own kids- seems like you had that kind of moment after work! Glad that your day ended so much better than it started.
Laurie- how was the dancing? Knocked your instructors socks off??

Trudy- I am so sorry to hear about your friend. :( Sending good thoughts out for Corey and her family. Hugs~~~

morning all - cloudy here- dancing last night was good- haven't heard yet how we fared in the grade dept- find that out today.

Chris - enjoy finding your unusual prizes today

Trudy- prayers for your friend

Waving at everyone- dh is making breakfast so I better run!

good morning... I'm up way earlier than I want to be considering I had to work 5 hours of overtime this week, and I'm TIRED! There's been lots going on so I'm going to try to catch you up really quick...

My sister and mom will be with me for a week starting tomorrow... my sister had her thyroid removed 2-3 weeks ago and it was cancerous... so she's going to be doing some iodine treatments this week as a precautionary measure... it'll be nice to have some extra help this week cuz well, Gabe just doesn't help LOL.

I'm starting school in August! Asbury University has a teaching licensure program that lasts 2 years with 65 calendar days of student teaching as the final part of the program... class is only one night a week from 6-10 p.m., and I can still work full-time... I want a career, not just a job and at least this way I won't feel like I totally wasted my psych degree :)

Will is still having problems, but they now think that he may have bipolar disorder... in kids its often misdiagnosed as ADHD because symptoms don't manifest like they do in teenagers and adults... he probably still has ADHD but stimulant medications actually exacerbate bipolar symptoms and make them worse so he's no longer on those... we have had to give him a very mild low dose sleeping pill because he was up at all hours of the night... but we were still having episodes of aggressive, violent behaviors and days of refusal to go to school. He tried to run away from school once, and walked back from the crosswalk one day without us knowing it and was just standing on the sidewalk until my friend Vimi saw him and called... so we had to take him back to the doctor... now he's on a half a pill daily of Celexa for the daytime... I've got to say that this past week has been the most peaceful in a LONG time and he's getting good reports from school!

Piper's doing well and is currently in ballet rehearsals for Arabella's Journey next month... after May we're going to take the summer off from ballet and will start back when the session starts in August... Matthew is growing like a weed and will be 4 on Wednesday... I can't believe it!

Gabe is having some issues with health.. his thyroid is out of whack again and he's on medication for that and his cholesterol and triglycerides are too high... so we're having to work on that...

That's about it in a nutshell - just lots of stuff going on and things keeping me very busy! I got all of the birthday wishes - thank you all so much and sorry I haven't been here more... I really will try to pop in more regularly!

Chris - have a great day doing your beautification project!

Trudy - prayers for your friend!

Laurie - isn't it wonderful when the hubby cooks? Enjoy your breakfast!

Have a great Saturday everyone!

Hi there O's!!! Just got home from Opening Ceremonies of Cameran's T-ball...it did not last too long for us...the ceremony to call all of the local teams for t-ball, softball, baseball...all of them...lasted about 20 minutes...we did a little socializing for about a half hour (they have tons of of other things going on all day, including ball games) but Cameran did not play today...so we left, went to Walmart.

I need to CLEAN before we go back out this evening!! We are meeting some friends for dinner, we haven't seen them in over a year!! Time just flies!! They have a little grandaughter too, so they are just like us...always doing something with her..and they also have a daughter that is 13. So she keeps them busy too.

Tomorrow we are going to a festival...Chris it's an Earth Day festival. There have been things going on all week up there...but the big stuff is today and tomorrow. Mike is wanting to go because it's over in the county where he grew up and he can see some old friends. We haven't been since our kids were teenagers.

I better run...I will try to get back and leave some love later!! Have a great weekend girlies!!!

Good morning ladies...I hope you are all having a wonderful Saturday!! It is a gloriously beautiful day here on Vancouver Island, the Azalea's are all in bloom as well as the apple and cherry trees, so the smells outside are sweet, sweet. Thanks for all your well wishes for my poor friend Corey and her family!
- Nana Linda...how lucky are you to be able to spend so much time with your grand baby! I am jealous!! Have a great time with your friends!!
- Sandra...you are way too busy girl! You make me tired just reading about all that is happening in your life. ((Hugs)) to your son, hope they figure out the right meds for him!
- Laurie... dancing sounds great, fingers crossed for a good grade!
- Chris...My cat does the same thing, wakes us up a 5 am and then after we are up, he jumps on the bed and goes to sleep all day.
Off to do some plant shopping and then hope to talk to my kids and grandkids on Skype today. Have a great one!!

We did get good grades- 96 average for our 4 dances at the level we were "checking out" on. We also had a good lesson with the professional- Travis We have decided to learn the viennese waltz so we can have him choreograph the song Color My World by Chicago for us- it is our wedding song and we will be married 30 years this August!

I am wiped out. Hubby and I took on a project that was waaaay too ambitious for us today. We took every single thing out of the garage and shed, went through every box/bag/container, tossed a bunch of trash, hauled a ton of stuff to be donated, another load of recyclables, then re-boxed the stuff to keep, swept the entire shed and garage, and stacked everything nicely inside. WOW, what a difference. AND, I want to lay down. haha. Luckily, we've decided we aren't going to do much of anything for the rest of the afternoon. Miss Fancy Pants is taking a nap, so I'm off to enjoy a quick shower and put on some cozy clothes.

Up early and busy, gloomy and drizzly today. Glad for the rain, but want the sunshine back. Cleaning, vacuuming, laundry -- the usual Saturday chores. Repotted 4 plants from my office, but have more plants than pots now because I split the overcrowded ones. Anybody want some??

Chris, I awoke to whiskers in my face. Both cats staring at me, obviously wanting breakfast -- and way too early.

Stef, you make me tired just reading about your day!

Yay, Laurie on your dancing grades -- I truly admire people who can. I have 2 left feet.

Waving, hope you'll all have a nice evening!

I'm half way finished with laundry- did manage to get a walk in during the gloomy, but warm afternoon.

Janet- what did you repot- I have 4 snake plants ( I think that is what they are called) and could trade you! when I first started dance I had two left feet, now I have non feminine hands and not so moving hips!

Quick question for you ladies with the green thumbs...will berries (strawberries, blueberries, etc etc) grow well in a pot or barrel? I was thinking of planting some things my daughter would like, but because I have very severe arthritis, sitting or kneeling on the ground to weed around them is really not an option. Ideas?

**I do realize some of it has to do with where I live. I'm just looking for a general idea**

Thanks

I would do a search for container gardening and see- I know you can do raised bed gardening, usually not so high that you wouldn't have to sit

YES!! You can! I have had 3 dwarf blueberry bushes growing in tubs on my deck. Last year was the third year of growth and we had probably two pints (it takes several years to really produce a lot of fruit). I also have tomato plants, strawberries and a variety of herbs -- all of them in tubs on my deck. The only trick to to pay attention to how much sun they need, My deck faces southwest so there's sun all day -- and they're happy.

And in case you're wondering, yes, I do have a yard and other garden beds. But I also have deer, bunnies and turkeys who seem to think I was growing fruits and veggies for them! So, everything is up on the deck. I do have to cover the blueberries with netting to keep the birds off. (I use hubby's camo netting, heehee)

Laurie, I repotted peace lilies, dracaena, and two others I'm not sure what they are, but they really love where I had them in my office. One has long narrow leave, variegated on top but bright magenta underneath, and it folds it's leaves upward at night! Never seen one like it! And the other has pointed leaves and grows a lot like the peace lily, but has a little varigation in the leaves. And I have a palm in my office sitting on top of my filing cabinet that is so big, it's going to take two people to re-pot it!

Supposed to rain all day today. Too bad, I'll have to find something to do on my laptop!

Good morning everyone.
What a crazy day I had yesterday. ROTF!
It started out quite sane. Cait and I had a really nice b-fast with friends, then cleaned up our road for a couple of hours. My mom and I took my kids' and one of Scott's friends to the big (4 floor) mall nearby. Found some cute clothes for Cait.
Came home, ordered 2 pizza for dinner.

Next thing I know, Cait asks if one of her freinds can sleep over- Sure, no problem, when is she coming?- 20 minutes! Ok, we can do that...
Few min's later- can another friend come over.... sure......when? She is on her way. (I am starting to see a problem with the instant communication of texting! I am "old school- wait for phones calls and stuff like that)
Scott is hanging out outside with the friend we had b-fast with and the pizza is on its way... 2 more of Cait's friends are hanging outside too. I throw frozen mozz. stick in the oven, boil up some penne and defrost some meat sauce I had int he freezer (that came from Cait's second friend's mom a few weeks ago)...
Pizzas come and some how we all have enough to eat lol

Then I somehow have 4 kids sleeping over-and I am going to have to figure out b-fast in a bit LOLOL!

Its actually not a problem I would much rather have the kids here and know where and what mine are up to- they hung outint he back yard till 9:30 they made enough noise to keep any bears away, and hopefully not so much that it made the neighbors angry :D

Not sure what it up for today- the girls were supposed to have a soccer game at 12, but it is raining now.
My mom got us Avatar- so we'll be watching that later- can't wait, since I never saw it in the theater.

Have a wonderful day!

Oooo...the Weekend O's are so busy! I feel like I'm totally out of touch! It's been so crazy around here. I'm really counting down the days until the end of the school year. It will decrease the homework. :-) And what frightens me is that I don't think that the Kdg and 1st grade homework will be my worst year! LOL

I'll stop in later to chat.

Hey there girlies!!!

Just popping in quickly....I hope everyone has a great Sunday!! I will try to get back later and do some personals...

But I do love you all!! This is such a great family:D

I feel like I have accomplished something this weekend- I turned on my work computer and plan to work 2 hours- well in few minutes- O time will keep me from feeling like the computer at home is a bad thing. I can be in the kitchen- smelling the yummy fougasse bread I made after pancakes and bacon with real maple syrup for bfast. The bread will be for dinner - the recipe makes a 2 good size loafs, so I made it into 4 smaller ones and will freeze the other three. Dinner will be manicotti and the bread and salad and wine of course. The weather here is in and out sunny and story. Hoping it passes so after my "work" time, I can go out and weed from the softer rained on ground. I love spring. I even have all my laundry done and things put away. Go Me!

Chris- sounds like you rolled with the punches yesterday- that would drive me nuts- but I need routines and schedules or I feel out of sync.

Linda- I remember the end of school busy time- good luck with it.

NanaLinda- good to see you dropping by

Janet- your plants sound interesting- maybe a layout coming?

Stef- keep us up to date on your gardening

Hi, Laurie -- don't know about a layout, how about a photo? Maybe someone has seen this and knows what it is? This is one plant! The variegated color on top and bright magenta underneath!

hey... just about to go off to bed to get ready for the start of the work week... got lots of cleaning done, but I just can't get the kids to clean their rooms... although I'm sure Mom will help out now that she's here... will be working 7:30 a.m. - 6 p.m. Monday - Thursday, then 7:00 to noon on Friday... it's going to be another 45 hour week ugh...

It's rainy and yucky here today, so I'm hoping for some sunshine tomorrow... hope everyone had a great weekend!
