and we are back to heavy rain again for the next few days. Yesterday was just a beautiful weather day and I worked my butt off on the yard. Still working on leaf clean up but none of that matters, it feels so wonderful to have my hands in the dirt.
I was a "good housewife" [ #mad --- can't even type that with a straight face] and deep cleaned the kitchen in the morning. Climbed on the counters to get to the tops of the cabinets to dust and all that. Not having a May/June Family Bash here is throwing off my deep cleaning schedule. I usually do that 2-3 times a year for each of the big family gatherings.
I have a lot to do to mess up the kitchen today to prep for Gary's b-day dinner. I am making chocolate peanut butter poke cake and had a request for the homemade crockpot Italian bread. Chicken Florentine for the meal. If I have time, I want to run to TJMaxx to see if I can pick up something small for him as a gift and look for a dress or something while I am there.

HAGD and TGIF!

@LSlycord oh my goodness, that must have been a shock to be woken up like that at 3.30 am... what a story to tell! How awesome to have your photos done at the Eiffel Tower. I can't wait to see them too

SAME!!!!! ugh!! Did you have any luck finding new earplugs? I hope that you get back to the pool. It isn't fair at all that men seem to lose weight so much easier than women but you got this! I feel like I am trying really hard to limit my portions and the scale isn't budging
Wow, the flower/card-- just incredible!! I can see why it took you all day to put it together, I know I would have given up in surrender to the paper.

@bcgal00 LOL your realization about free time/retirement reminds me of my utterly wrong assumptions f behind home with Scott when he was first born. I thought I was going to have time to read while he slept bwhahahahahah!!!!!!
(The kid never ever ever ever slept-- he had colic and screamed for almost 6 straight months - read--the only thing I read what how to get your kid to sleep and what sort of things old wives tales recommended for colic hahaha *faints from the memory*)
Yikes- I hope that the appts held this time and you were able to get the gas line and landscaping figured out.

Eva- that is a great kit! Good suggestion :)

@Cherylndesigns I hope that you have a raft just in case you need to go out for any reason-- that is a **** ton of rain! We are supposed to get 2-3" and that is bad enough
Did the internet ever get fixed for Adrienne and everyone so they can work? *fingers crossed it is all running well again*
Tom's mom makes vegan brownies that are utterly delish, if we can't find a cake or recipe I am going to ask her for that recipe for them.

@BrightEyes Wish I could send you some of the rain here too. The only good thing about the amount of rain here ATM is that I know that my week isn't running dry. We have been getting a ton of grit in the filters/faucets, more than we ever had. Gary thinks it is b/c of the construction across the street is maybe stirring stuff up? But at least it's not dry.
Sounds like you were busy running all around, bet it will feel nice to be home and scrapping this weekend. Good luck finding new phones

oh wow---- cheryl- what a mess. :(

Morning everyone! Hmmmm had to wonder what kind of day you are having @faerywings your spelling of the Daily Ooos kind of gave me a clue. It is a half decent morning here today! The rain finally stopped and there are some patches of blue sky out there. However this is what our weather looks for the next week!! UGH!!!

unnamed-1.jpg

I sure hope it changes over the next couple of days! I spent most of my day searching for things on the internet, what a waste of time!! Still have not found any earplugs that look any better than the ones I already own. I might have to get something custom made to fit my ears, but I think I have to go to an eye/ear/nose specialist to do that. Also want to look for some bone conduction waterproof mp3 players. They can be quite expensive, but I think they would be worth it. So the endless browsing continues. Would someone please send me some scrapping mojo!! Mine has flown the coup again and I can't find it anywhere! #dk
@faerywings - You have a busy day planned for today! I hope you find some time to get to TJ Maxx and that you find something really cute to wear! Oh and of course a small gift for your Gary too LOL. Nice to hear that you got in some dirt therapy yesterday! I am not sure when I will be able to get out to do some weeding, it is so soggy out there! Gary's b-day meal sounds very delicious!! However when I looked at the PB Poke cake I almost went into sugar shock!! I bet it is yummy though! Thanks for the nice compliment on my Mother's Day Card, my silhouette machine did all the work, but it was a challenge to get all the little bits and bobs put together LOL. Fat fingers and no nails doesn't help!! I had glue everywhere!!

@bcgal00 - You had a very busy shopping day yesterday! How nice that Jenn now has a big new flat screen tv!! Yes retirement seems to make the days very different, you will wonder how you ever had enough time to do all the things you did when you were working full time #crazy. Sure hope the gas line guy showed up for you yesterday! It is like that around here too, they say they will be here on a certain day, but don't show up til several days later. It is frustrating! Seems like there is such a shortage of people who want to work! Hope you get to see the sparrow at the bird house again, perhaps they got bullied out of their new home? Hope not!

@tanteva - That kit is a perfect choice for Linda's trip to Paris!!

@Cherylndesigns - Wow that is a lot of water and damage! Hope that you have internet today!! Somedays I feel the same way, its time to get that Ark started!!

@BrightEyes - Still working on sending you all of our rain too! You are one busy lady with scrapping! Please, please send me some of your mojo!!

Ok off to empty the dishwasher and then I am heading to the O store to see what inspires me. Have a great day everyone!

Good morning ladies. I didn't get much done yesterday. Got a message from the old home that our mail has been going there (despite paying Canada Post for redirect for a year). We spent a few hours on the phone with CP and they have escalated our complaint and we'll hear back from them in a week or so. I can see maybe one thing slip through the cracks but it looks like 7 so far and two of them are cheques. They are going to send back to the post office and hopefully they get redirected to us. What a nightmare this is. So that threw off my whole day. Good news is that at the end of the day the gas guy finally showed up. By 4:30 we figured he wasn't coming but at 5 or so he showed up. So BBQ and firepit work. We just need a splitter for the gas line which should be here on Wed. Tonight D can have a burger on the BBQ, he will enjoy that.

I've got CT stuff to do today. I'll get out for the dog park and groceries this afternoon. It'll be a quiet day.

@faerywings I used to make poke cake for the kids all the time and they loved it. That brings back memories.

@taxed4ever We cross posted again. Hope you get the earplugs soon so you can get back in the pool. Yes, I already wonder how I ever used to work and get anything else done LOL. I know things will settle once we get completely unpacked and organized but for now, every day is filled. I haven't been reading or scrapping as much as I used to.

Morning, gals. I slept in again this morning but know it is because I was up reading until after 11 PM. It was "Promise Canyon" by Robin Carr. It was a fairly quick read as I didn't start it until 8 PM. I got a couple of CT iNSD LOs uploaded this morning. Need to look at the new collections in the shop this morning. So many wonderful things and not much time to get them and do something with them. #predict

I did an on-line search for a new multi-phone wireless set and they are scarce as hen's teeth! Most of the places have an 'out of stock' on the listings for them. So, guess it will be a wait and see how long my set lasts. I have a couple of wired phones so will plug one of them in just in case they quit unexpectedly. I am really spoilt with having Caller ID on the walk-around phones and having one in several rooms.

@taxed4ever I love the card you made... it is so beautiful. Hint for when you are having to glue a lot of small pieces - use a pair of tweezers to keep the glue off your fingers. Even with my long fingernails, I use tweezers to hold the pieces. I have several sizes of tweezers and swear by them. Hope you can find some earplugs that will work so you can go back to swimming again. I know you are missing that.

@bcgal00 Glad that the gas person got the lines hooked up. Hope the splitter part comes in soon. I remember when DH retired then said he wondered when he had time to work as he was so busy since then... and we had done a move across county right after he retired. It is amazing how busy retirement can be!!

@Cherylndesigns WOW... those photos really show what a lot of rain in a short time can do. Sorry about all the washed out roads and other areas around your property. Hope you get the internet and TV back soon. I wish we had the rain... but not as much as your area had!

@LSlycord Love seeing the photos from Paris. Fantastic adventure for your family. They brought back so many memories of when DH and I spent our 35th anniversary in Paris.

The morning is almost gone so time to get dressed and get a few chores done around the house. CYL

Morning.

Still no wifi or TV. If we have wifi at least we can stream, but not w/o that. Still using my phone hotspot. Bless it's heart - it was a champ yesterday. Chuck's using it too and last night I listened to an audio book (on my phone) while I was working. Speaking of working - it's SLOW but unless I have to download those big, zipped files (which I can't do on my phone) I can do what I need to do albeit slowly. Sometimes, I forget what I'm doing before I get it done. #crazyThe broadband ppl are supposed to come out here today, but we're not holding our breath. Ava's has been out since Tues - the night of the bad storm. There was MAJOR flooding near us and people can't even get out and about in some areas. We're up high, so we didn't have it so bad. Ava's bf took a lot of pics yesterday - he lives in a lower area and there were cars almost underwater.

Kay @BrightEyes we feel fortunate that we're higher up and at least we didn't lose our power through it all. It glitched a few times, but came right back on. I really wish I could send you some of it.

Chris @faerywings those browning sound good - I'll try some vegan dessert if I ever get a chance. Not too many vegans in these parts. BWAHAHA All big red meat lovers. Not me, but lots of others. Haha People 'round here love to eat.

Trudy @taxed4ever hope you find some earplugs. I'm sure it's frustrating to not be able to. I'm sure you've checked Amazon. They have just about everything. I even have some live plants being delivered - they're from a nursery but Amazon does the delivery. I hope they didn't get lost in the flood somewhere. I've got everybody on the lookout for them.

I'm going to get off here and poke my way through some things I need to do. I DID manage to upload some 700x700 layouts yesterday, so hopefully, that's all I'll need to do for the next few days. I'll be out in the car looking for some wifi to "borrow" otherwise. Hahaha Back to the olden days. I can't go down to the brick house and use his because he doesn't have it either. #cry

Good evening from Paris! What a long day! My feet are killing me. Brian and Syd went to a nearby restaurant for supper. Shaun took a
nap and I just finished a book. We are heading back out in just a bit…we have tickets for a 9:00 boat ride on the Seine tonight. Looking forward to seeing the city lights. But I made the executive decision that we had done enough Metro today and we are taking a taxi. Then, we can sleep in a bit tomorrow before heading to London.

@tanteva i LOVE that kit! Thank You so much for pointing it out!

@Cherylndesigns the flooding looks awful! Stay safe.

@taxed4ever that card was amazing! You are so talented. Hope that you can be back in the pool soon. Ours should be plenty warm enough for swimming when we get back and I am looking forward to it.

@BrightEyes I am so glad that my photos brought back happy memories of Paris and Bill.

@bcgal00 so frustrating about the mail. It seems that nothing goes quite right, no matter how hard we try!

Off to get ready for the boat. Talk to you all again tomorrow.

Fun day in store for me. The sun is shining and my daughter is taking me to 'High Tea' at a sweet little tea shop in Vancouver for my birthday and Mother's Day combo.
I pulled a dress out to wear and hope to heaven that it still fits without showing all the extra lumps and bumps that have somehow landed on my body. I haven't worn a dress since COVID started. lol
