Blue Light Blocking

I've been having some unusual problems with my eyes lately. I need an eye exam and will go for that just as soon as our weather warms a bit. But, in the meantime, I researched online and see that many people have problems with blue light exposure from devices such as computers, iPads, and smartphones. So, I ordered clip-on blue light blocking glasses. They actually helped a bit, but are a pain to put on and off. So, I ordered a different brand that flip-up but they are waaaay too yellowy orange, and make me crazy, so they are going back. I found another pair of flip-ups that are lighter, but only one side clips properly to my glasses, so they are going back. Does anyone here wear blue light clip-ons, and if so, which brand have you found that you like best?

I think when I bought my glasses they added a blue light treatment to the glass. I think that was an option. Never tried the clip on ones. I know for my iPhone and iPad well, actually all my devices now that I think about it, I have to turn the brightness down. The extra bright "default" bright is too much for me and instant headache. Was about to give up using devices when I read brightness dimming helps. When I share something on my phone, I have to turn the brightness up before showing anyone cause its so low.

Thanks, Tracy. A close friend told me about the blue light option when I get new glasses, but after the clip-ons I've tried, it concerns me that it might be two yellowish or orange if added to my glasses, then I'm stuck with it. Yes, I keep the brightness turned down on my PC too. I no longer can use my iPad, actually gave it to one of my grands, as it aggravates my virtigo. If it's not one thing, it's another! :)

My new glasses have a blue light blocker in them, too, Betty Jo. If you're going to get new glasses, look into that feature. I don't notice any difficulties with yellows, but in all fairness, I don't wear mine at my computer much. I got bifocals and I have a hard time with them at my big monitor. I DO use them for my phone, though, and I use my phone a lot. I'm getting ready to get new closeup glasses and I'll definitely get it in them.

Thanks so much, Cheryl. I was just re-thinking this, and am definitely going to talk to my oncologist about it.

Check and see if the eye doc has a sample lens you can can look through. Like a treated non prescription lens so you can see how it looks. I dont notice any color change with mine. I honestly wouldn't know my glasses were treated if I hadn't been told.

Great idea, Tracy, will do!

I use blue light blocking readers. Mine don't really impact the look of blues or yellows. Whites aren't quite as bright but to be honest I prefer it and it's nothing that would impact me when doing something where color visuals are important.

Thanks, Cindy. I have to have bifocals, and can't use readers. But, if I could, readers would certainly beat the clip-ons.

My Samsung tablet has a blue light filter as an optional setting and I have it turned on all the time. My phone, also Samsung, has a setting called Eye Comfort Shield that I have on as well. It might be worthwhile to check your devices, if you haven't already.

Thank you, Angie. My phone is an iPhone, I'll have to check to see if there is such a setting. I have adjusted the light on it to the lowest I can tolerate.
