Any audio book lovers out there? Let' s talk about Audio Book Challenges for 2026. I listen to audio books a LOT. The thing I love about them is I can be doing other things while listening.

If there's any interest, I can delve into this more deeply. I love these Challenge Levels:

WHY AUDIOBOOKS COUNT​

• They tell the same stories
• They use the same words
• They engage the same imagination
• They are more accessible for many readers

Listening is not “les s than.”
Listening is reading - with rhythm.

Thread 'Book challenge for 2026'

It's the time of the year when the reading challenges start appearing. Since I don't have social media any more, I will miss all the ones shared there. Hence I decided to make one for myself. Sharing my list here, maybe you want to join me?

The list is quite versatile and easy to follow, and interpretations are very welcome. Since we are an international group, you can translate the words to you own language, and pick books that match. Also you can use plural, adjectives etc of the word (like in January e g. You could use winters, winterly, midwinter and so on). And in March, it could be...

I don't listen to audiobooks much. My brain forgets to listen ... guess it's an adhd thing.
 
I LOVE audiobooks! There is something magical about being told a story... professional voice actors with well-trained voices can bring a book alive and I am a total sucker when it comes to audio experiences.

I usually average 20-25 books a year - plus podcasts, but the books I choose tend to be long ones, so I have no idea how one would manage 150+ books a year, unless those are 3-4 hour books, but even then, we're talking 2-3 hours of listening EVERY day, which is near impossible.

They are great for bill payng too, Linda. They're great for whatever I'm doing. I just love them, especially the series books.

So well said Olga and exactly how I feel about the audio experience. Like you, I love long books so it's hard for me to judge how many books I listen to. I love the long books and am currently listening to "The Room Next Door" which is a generational book starting when the characters were in high school. It's an unsolved mystery book. I just joined a small challenge on Audible which is to listen to a book for thirty mnutes a day. Easy peasy, right??? I wound "guestimate" that I listen to about as many as you sad you do, though it's so hard to tell. I also listen on different platforms and also love podcasts.
