Anyone Starting a Diet This Month?

Love my O Family!

HA! I never have to start a diet! When my IBS is allowing me to eat, I can gain about 10 pounds pretty quickly, but as soon as the IBS kicks in, I can lose that 10 pounds just as quickly!

I read this quote in my daily Almanac email.......Today is the best day to begin a diet to gain weight! I really don't think this advice is necessary at this time of the year, do you? :dinner::oreo::chocolate::birthday2::xmas8::xmas9:

I totally understand that, Rae! But I figure you probably control yourself pretty well even in all of your socializing.

No dieting here, not in December. I crave carbs intensely during the winter from SAD. Plus all of the baking we do, it would be impossible.

I always say I'll restart eating healthy in January but often it takes me closer to Spring to get back on track.

I decided Nov 4 to cut sugar and flour from my diet and although it means turning down many treats, I have dropped 20 pounds and decreased the inflamation in my body. I haven't had any headaches or needed to take any ibuprofen. My norm before was to take ibuprofen at least 3 x during a week. I am doing this from a health perspective more than as a diet and plan to make it a lifestyle going forward. Not that I will never eat another cupcake again but when I do it will only be a very good one and enjoyed to the fullest :)

Well, it is easier for me because our family doesn't gather for our Christmas until January! So, IF I were to diet, I could do it in December with no problem! However.......no dieting for me, either! IBS pretty much take care of me having to do any dieting!

Same like Chris, no dieting in December and January (some birthdays and celebrations), and actually I don't follow diets, but I try to eat clean, low carb and I'm vegetarian.
We gather in January for our Christmas, too. But, I don't really have to worry about dieting....when IBS kicks in I can lose 10 lbs at the drop of a hat!

Kudos to you, Tiffany! My IBS's favorite food is carbs, unfortunately! But I have cut sugar before and it certainly does help with the inflammation and headaches! Just very hard to stick to! Best wishes on a healthier you!

I have been since January of this year, but I have turned my behaviors to maintaining my loss until the holidays are over. Then it's down to bizness to get that last 20 lbs off!!
Sounds like a good plan, Susie! You can enjoy some goodies without going hog wild! No need making yourself feel guilty!

As of today I'm cutting way back on carbs and sugar. Not for weight reasons, but because I have so many aches and pains it's not even funny, and in the evenings I'm way too tired way too early. Today - no sugar since noon, and it's nearly 11 and I'm still up. Day 1 for the win. Is this sustainable? We'll see! If the aches and pains improve it will be worth it and I'll join @tiffany scraps for a very good cupcake and let the rest go.

Hope you can sustain it, Amy! I lasted for 5 months before breaking!

Maybe 3 or 4 days....after the no-sugar headache went away! I also started walking which helped! But I've slipped back into my old ways and I can tell it, for sure!
