Anyone doing A Week in the Life??

I've done this a couple of times before, without strictly following along with Ali E's system and have really enjoyed it. I haven't done it for a couple of years, and I know one could pick any week throughout the year, but I thought it might be fun to do this week again and compare and contrast it to 2 years ago.

Anyone else doing it? And if so, have you found some good templates to use in the store?

I've been having a bit of a hunt around the shop and haven't decided whether to go free form eclectic and use some of Anna's templates, or more structured and formal and use Kitty's wonderful new templates or indeed just about anything by Biograffiti. I'm also loving the journal card idea, so might use some of these, of which there are loads available in the shop - I particularly like those by One Little Bird or any one of the mutlitude of cards Paislee Press has created recently.

So is anyone else going to join me?

And just to make your mouth water, wanna see some piccies??? Read 'em and drool!

Selena, I've done it for quite a few years in the past but never with products from this store. I've decided I need to catch up on my San Francisco trip pages from Jan before I start another project.

I do like doing AWITL as an 8.5x11 so I can just use a smaller album. I've often found pretty binders here which works just as well for me.

always chatty at the O!!
So, a question about this...is it the same as type of thing as Project Life? Or is it different? All these projects have me confused and I always seem to find out about them late. LOL!!

Check Ali Edwards' blog, Clara. A Week in the Life was around before Project Life, I believe. I know it goes back to 2006, before I was even scrapping. It is kind of like PL but for just a week. Consider that when AWTL started, most scrappers were doing one off pages so this was a novel idea then. I really enjoyed the weeks I did but it can be hectic!

I see AWITL as MORE than just a project life week. I think it goes deeper into all the things that happen during the week rather that just an overview. I've not done AWITL though, so I could be wrong ;-) I have a hard enough time making each of my Project Life weeks not look so boring, hahahah!

I'm like you, Clara! I haven't got a clue as to what all the diff things are. there's a week in the like and Project life and capture your 365, and then people making up their own projects to fit their styles. Adryane had a great idea to do 52 stories, instead of a photo a day, or even a weekly thing. 52 stories for the 52 weeks of the year. Wonder how she's getting along with that? I liked that idea, but thought It would be too hard to decide which 52 stories to choose. Plus, I suck at projects. I am too free form. I do whatever i feel like at the moment!

I really really love ViVre's weekly pages though, have you seen them? They are beautiful, and when she's finished, she is going to have one gorgeous coffee table book!

I do love the week pages...whether AWITL or PL. They are so cool...but like you Amber I am not good at follow through. I can put all of my energy into one big project for a short time period but have no scrapping endurance. LOL!! I really would like to check one of these projects out.

So Selena...do you have a break down of what these different projects are? Or do you like AWITL and are all about that? It seems like a lot of these products work in many facets of projects.

Thanks for the compliment, Amber!!

I have to confess: for my 365-project i don't take a photo a day, although Anna's awesome template suggest i should. I cheat!! I take an amount of pictures every week and on sunday-evening i open the new template and start shuffling around. I do keep an eye on the specific days, but only for specific events like birthdays. But the blossom i photographed on tuesday can be placed on saturday without doubt! That's a great stress-reducing!! I regret that i'm not allowed to share pictures I make at the care-center where i've a job. Ooooh, i would LOVE to make an entire album just filled with pictures that i could make at that place. But I cann't miss your support and comments: that keeps me going!!!

I've been meaning to look into this. I did a day in the life back in February and that was kinda fun (documenting all the tedium of your day) but a lot of work. I haven't scrapped it yet but it will just be a fun insert in my P365 album. In fact, I've decided that I will intersperse fun, more detailed items throughout my P365 album. I think I'll do a day in the life again (with a different day) and I think I'll steal Eva's idea of taking a picture of supper every day for a month and then do a two-pager on that. This month we went to the dentist, which involves riding the bus downtown and having lunch with Dad at the food court so I plan to make that a couple pages in my album. So...in other words...not sure about AWITL...I'll have to check it out! :)

Here is my 2010 AWITL.

Once I started doing a photo a day in 2011 to record our life, I really stopped doing a lot of one-at-a-time layouts. Whether I call it 365, Project life or whatever, I do want to record this - for my husband, and for my aging memory!

Wonderful, Maureen - I particularly like the bit about the rain cleaning the car - what a brilliant way to spin crappy weather!!

Just taking the daily photos (and I like ViVre's guilt-free method) makes a difference in how you view your world. I did a photo AND layout daily in 2008 but don't expect to go that far again. In 2010 I did two-page LOs each month, all free-form. I really enjoyed that, but ran out of steam after March in 2011. This year I find I'm not taking photos quite so much anymore but would like to get back to a bit more of it. Using templates would sure make it easier, but I don't think it's my style. Hope you have a great time doing whichever method you try.

I did December Daily for the first time in 2011 and it was fun but I'm not sure I'd do it again. I love the idea of WITL because it's such a short commitment so I started mine this past Sunday but I haven't decided what format my layouts will be in. I'm just making sure to get the pictures and write down the facts. Hopefully I'll get it all done in the near future!
