A big storm around here

Hi girls, I stopped by to tell you that the weather conditions are not very good around here. Normally at this time of year it is usually hot, above 20ºC, but this year it has been raining non-stop, thundering and the wind has reached worrying speeds. It has been raining for over a month and will continue until the end of March. Yesterday the storm caused a lot of damage around here. My house is ok but there are streets blocked due to fallen trees and electricity poles, some of which have fallen on cars, and there is a lot of flooding.

I'm so sorry. Stay safe. We've had some of this kind of weather, too, the past couple of weeks, with many power outages due to wind and fallen trees. :crying1:

Thank you so much Betty!! Luckily we didn't suffer any power outages but there are many reports of them. If that happened it would be completely dark, everything in my house works with electricity.

Yes, my apartment is totally electric too and when the power goes it's super dark! But, I have good flashlights in every room. :)

Stay safe. We are having our usual high winds. Trying to work outside is impossible.
Thanks Sharon!! we all are trying to be safe. This is too much last year, at this time, the beaches were already full of people... this year it's like this... :crying1:

That´s a good option but right now I have no idea where the flashlights are kept because we are preparing to move to another house in the next three weeks and all those things are already... somewhere in a box.
Plus, my street is closed because of a tree and an electric pole laying down on the road.

Uh oh! :crying1:

Oh no, it sounds horrible, Ana!! I hope your power does stay on...do you at least have some candles that haven't been packed, just in case? We are fully electric, as well...we do have a big propane tank outside that is for emergency heat with our heating/air conditioning system, but if the electricity is off, that's not working! lol I hope you guys and your home stay safe during this time, and that everything clears up before your move!!! :beatingheart: :heartpumpred: :beatingheart: :heartpumpred: :beatingheart:

Please be careful and stay indoors while the winds are whipping through the trees.
If you aren't used to dealing with power outages, fill your bathtub halfway or so with water. You can use that to flush toilets. Don't open your freezer, if it stays closed it will keep the food frozen for a decent amount of time.
And of course, if you do go outside, assume that all downed wires are live. Just to be safe.

I hope the weather calms down soon!

All good advice, Chris, and exactly what I did last week when our power was out overnight and for several hours into the next day. I was amazed that I didn't lose any of my frozen food.

We never have candles because of the cats dear Jenn, it would be dangerous to light one. We have power so far but the news are talking about another storm coming

Thank you so much for all for all the advice, in fact we are not used to this ... we should be preparing our swimsuits

Oh yeah, I forgot about your fleet of sweet kitties...duh!! Yeah, that would be dangerous... :hiding2: I hope you guys aren't hit by this next storm coming up :hug2::heartpumpred:

Sorry you had such bad weather it seems it has become a different weather world out there.
We are not used to this in Portugal. Spring arrived yesterday, but it is not noticeable at all, it is cold (my breath creates a cloud of steam), very windy and it rains a lot. I think that when all this is over we will go straight into very hot temperatures, that is, summer.

I have seen it Ana. Simply awful. Large parts of Spain are also affected. Take care of yourself and I hope you get through everything unscathed.
Oh, thank you so much dear Sylvia!! still raining all day today, better with the wind where I´m living. At north, the weather remains worrying, especially on the coast where the sea is very rough, leading to the closure of most maritime bars.

So far there are no signs of the storm that could still arrive and maybe, just maybe, we might have some sun during the next week. I'll keep my fingers crossed. :heartpumplove:
