OK project lifers, start your engines!

I am still stuck on the last week and a half of 2013, but hope to have that page (s) finished shortly...I am thinking of moving to a new format and my mind is stuck somewhere between the two!

Plus I have been working on getting my print pages ready from 2013 and have decided to change some things...yikes! so much PLing to do :)

So, what are your goals, what challenges do you see, tell us your experiences so we can all share and benefit!

And here's to 2014!

Diane, I'm still not moving on printing 2013, but it shouldn't be too hard. I'm not going to make the changes you are.

I do want to make some changes for 2014, but haven't quite got it worked out. I do have four very snowy photos for week 1 though.

i need to sit with myself and think about what I want to change and how. There are a few things but I am just not inspired yet.

This will be my first year for a Project 52.
I am still wondering what it will look like... but I guess the first layouts are the most difficult to start with!
I was thinking of something with stitches and maybe cards.

I already did my layout for week 1- I mostly changed that I went for a cleaner look, with more journaling cards and less clutter. I also reduced the journaling space, because that put me under more pressure than I liked (I never knew what's better: go philosophical, or merely state the facts). Now I have a big week-in-review card at the top of the page next to the date, which I use to write down the facts.
Week 1 was a pretty boring one except New Year's Eve, so the facts I wrote down sounded absolutely hilarious ;)...
I thought about loosening up about PL a little, giving myself the freedom to do more than two pages for a week when there are many photos, but I discarded this idea eventually. It's better for me if I actually force myself to make a decision about the pics I want to use instead of using them all. I scrap a lot besides the PL, so big occasions get covered anyway, and a really enormous PL that goes over four or more pages would truly overwhelm me.
So I'll stick to my two-page-spreads.

OK, my first layout is done for the first 'mini' week of this year.

I decided to focus on only one event of this week and documented my crafting course of Saturday's afternoon :)

I love this Sabine, as you already know since I gave you lots of love in the gallery...it would be such fun to craft with you in Paris!

Sabine, it looks wonderful! I'm sure we'd all love to join in. And how you do your project is entirely up to you.

I finally bit the bullet and put together my week 1.

I decided to start this year. Again. I've started every year since 2009 and only completed one whole year LOL Hopefully this year will also be completed...

Oh how delightful to have new participants. We have some regulars here that I hope can help keep everyone motivated.

LOVE seeing these week 1's!! I am still working on it. It's a new approach for me, PL versus P365...I may need some advice from Heather and Lindy. It is not as easy as I thought :)

I have a question for heather and lindy, since you have used Anna 's templates. Do you deliberately keep your backgrounds neutral?

I had a heck of a time with my week 1 because I made backgrounds to match the pictures but then the 2 pages didn't look good together.

So I need help!

Yes i like a neutral sold background to start, then I can go in and add transfers and paint (recolored) below certain photos if needed. For PL only I also add the solid behind to pick up a little colour from the photos. So i have 2 background layers-make sense? When I use them in my vacation album for example I use a solid neutral background then add stuff after I have my photos to see where a splash of colour is needed like these:

Hi Diane,
Yes, I like to stick with neutral backgrounds, I often use the same background for both pages and add transfers so the pages flow well. QUOTE=dwsewbiz;430541]I have a question for heather and lindy, since you have used Anna 's templates. Do you deliberately keep your backgrounds neutral?

Thank you both so much, Heather & Lindy! I really appreciate the advice...i like the bit about a little color from transfers, as I just don't like the look of white space, but I love the look of your pages!

I'm still working on it, but still not happy...not sad, just not satisfied yet. I'm moving into week 2 to make sure my approach is sound.

OK, I am finally calling week 1 'in the can'. I didn't realize there were so many decisions to make in changing to a PL format.

Still not sure I am 100% satisfied, but the body of work (I've done 4 pages for week 2 as well) seems to flow.

At first I had a red background on this page, which was striking and beautiful, but it was clashing with the blue and green of the page next to it, so I went with black as a neutral.

Although the colors are different, I used some stripes across both pages to tie them together.
