So ladies....

While my little guy was sick - I wasn't able to scrap as much as I normally like or really check out the cool new trends and techniques out there :( I know do you hear the little sad violin playing?? *LOL*

So tell me your opinion...what have you seen for the first quarter of 2010 that I missed out on? What new trends, techniques or things are you all loving? or hating?

What things are...."In or Out"?? (My best impression of Heidi Klum there ;))

oh good question Kat!

I see a lot of blending with photos framed over the top! Jury for me is still out on that one, although I am trying it myself this weekend.

I just saw a layout like that...I loved the one I saw, but I am not sure I could pull it off :( I can't wait to see yours!!!! I am sure it will be amazing!!!!!!!

I think I am seeing more cluster type LO's appearing! I rally want to give this a try!! :)

and the blending, yeah I think this is becoming more popular too!!!

Definitely seen a lot of textures / blending / actions being used on photos ... with some pretty amazing results too!

Lots of clustering too ... done well and this style can look fabulous, but it's not a skill I've mastered yet ... I've done a couple of mini-cluster LO's (in the corner or edge of a frame) but not yet attempted anything bigger than that!

I've seen birds making an appearance in lots of kits ... cute little hand drawn ones, brushes, in flight, sitting on branches, owls etc!

Art Journaling is definitely in!

I don't mind so much what is in or out, it's mostly about what I like or don't like. and I love almost everything, at least I want to try everything!

I am also seeing a lot of photo repetition - same photo used 2-3 times and/or blended on a layout

Jup, that's the idea behind it. Wikipedia says the folowing:
An art diary , art journal or visual journal is a daily journal kept by artists, often containing both words and sketches, and occasionally including multimedia elements such as collages. Such books will frequently contain rough workings, in cartoon form, of ideas later to appear in finished works, as well as acting as a normal diary, by allowing the artist to record their day-to-day activities and emotions.

I tried to make mine in a journal too, but I didn't like it very much .. so I've gone digital with it. And when I have a couple of pages done, I will
print them and stick them in a journal:rolleyes:

I have seen pages like this when I started my grats journal....totally amazing...and so out of my league :) *LOL* People are painting their pages...and stitching in them. It's amazing!
