I have a love/hate relationship with the deer that hang out in the backyard. They eat the flowers and vegetables in the gardens, but are beautiful to photograph. I collect their shedded antlers for decoration and recently purchased a pair of mid-century deer figurines for the fireplace mantle.

I was drawn to the muted, natural colors of this kit and had to scrap an old photo I had taken of this deer. I used Topaz Labs to brighten up the shadows in the photo and used an adjustment layer to get rid of the deer's red eye. To make the background, I blended two of the papers (Soft Light)...

I took these pictures at the Wolf Canyon in Omaha at Thanksgiving adding paint splashes, doiles, and all kinds of fun layers!

The war between the deer and the flower beds have continued this year. I feel that I won this year's battle (although there were some causalities).
