The Raphael Rooms form a suite of reception rooms in the Apostolic palace. They are famous for their frescoes, painted by Raphael and his workshop. The School of Athens represents the degrees of knowledge, or the truth acquired through reason. It is Raphael’s most famous painting.

The Gallery of Geographical Maps was one of the most stunning rooms in the museum. The gallery takes its name from the series of topographical maps which line the walls. The maps were commissioned in 1580. The panels map the entirety of the Italian peninsula in large scale frescoes.
