No, no, no! It's not your thumbs! You have simply not mind-merged with the plants that are native to your area. All of us have been led away from what wants to grow naturally with us to those colorful exotic divas that fly off the shelves at Home Depot, then die. Find your native plants and...
Thank you so much! Doing this is like painting with plants and at this time of year it's so much fun to plan and shop and plant...and hope for success!
It's a BIG level, that's for sure...and there's more happening around the back. This is year 3 of beating back the overgrowth and working on this is pure joy!
Thanks so much fellow gardener! The house is an 1876 farmhouse and when we bought it a few years ago it was overgrown with every invasive plant in the book. This is our third year of cultivation and it's so cool to see that so many of the plants are thriving. Seeing them come back in the Spring...
The big-leaf hydrangeas are such divas! I grow panicles, lace-caps, and oak-leaf types, and they are much less picky about...well...everything! I do so love the blast of color of the big, round blooms though, which you show so well here in this beautiful layout!

What a marathon you've been running. Glad you are okay but that's tragic about the damage to other areas. I love this layout, and how containing the image in the vessel suggests safety, something I think we are all craving these days. A beautiful design.
My inner gardening nerd came out in full force when I discovered a display of inexpensive mini-shrubs at Home Depot, including two very-hard-to-find-around-here 'Center Glow' Ninebarks. I had just returned from the fancy nursery (no luck), and so stumbling upon these Ninebarks at the Depot felt...
Saying “goodbye until next time” is always hard but is helped by a fun outing. Luckily, the big family reunion happens on the Cape in just a few weeks so that's something to look forward to. After completion, I realized that this page is also about the hand-knits: hats and sweaters and scarves...
We bought our grandson two Cape Cod sweatshirts on deep discount in huge sizes, and were surprised to see him wearing one already. Let's just say I was overcome with the cuteness of it all.
My process was opposite of how I usually proceed, as in this layout, on a blank canvas, I arranged my...
