Usually we saw no more than a quick glimpse of an otter, because as soon as they'd see us they'd dive. We'd wait, and not see them come back up. But on our June trip we saw two of them at different times, swimming along and not bothered by our presence. Just a moving lump in the water.
Janis Joplin said, "Who you are is what you settle for, you know?" and I was browsing my Rachel stash for an idea of how to put this on the card, when I found her quote and liked it because it's about the same thing.
AI images tell my birthday boy's story for me, for Oscraps 18th birthday celebration Day #6. I used Karen's template and tried not to be too creative. It goes very fast, but then one of the photos didn't play nice, so the whole template had to be flipped to make that one photo work.
Thanks Jen for the challenge: a lot of therapy here. The only other memorable birthday I have was the blizzard a couple of years ago, and not one photo from any, ever. I'm very mixed about birthdays. :p
It was my tenth birthday. While I was required to stay and open the gift, my brother, 60 lbs. more than me, took my new pogo stick out and destroyed it. Embarassed and hurt, I wore those 7-day undies with such mixed feelings, and was never close to my grandmother after that.
ps
My only gift that...
Thanks, Sylvia! Nov 26 so I went to page 37 and was drawn to @Madi 's Be Patient. I started a square page, and had it all like a normal lift, then remembered I needed to put a note in my yearbook about Jim's heart attack, so I revised it only enough to make it a 2-page tribute.
We found out from our mail carrier that Jim was OK after his heart attack. At 86, he was mowing Lois's grass when she insisted he call a doctor. He stubbornly finished her lawn. In the hospital he got a stent and danced with the nurse. He has such good friends, exactly because he's a great guy.
There were even fewer birds on Wednesday, but I loved watching a ruddy ducks in morning sun as he swam past old and new reeds. I was pretty sure I had a nice photo of the ruddy, so it would count as a good day. But we wouldn't bother to go around the second time, even if I had the energy.
The trick was to stay just far enough away so they didn't fly, but close enough to get a photo. It was rare to see a pair of beautiful mallards, and even more rare to be able to get the photo. We were partly clever and mostly lucky.
Inspired by Jen's Paris in Spring papers, to commemorate the French lighting of the Eiffel Tower in the colors of Ukraine.
The extra half of an ATC is gratuitous, fits in my book format, and hopefully just brings a smile. I added perforations so you can easily remove it.
I loved it when you told me that you had started seeing cattails in a new way, and had started watching the lighting on them, because you had seen so many of my photos of cattails over the years. I think it took a lot of practice to make good photos of them.
