The Loopy-O
CHEERY O
@faerywings you just gave me a good three minutes of confusion because I was pretty sure today is Friday, but no one else here seems to think so. But surely, if David is at Habitat, it must be Friday?
Hey now, I warned everyone to never go by my days and dates! :floorlaugh:
Sorry for the confusion- I think that subconsciously, I want everyone to be as muddled as I am. What better way to do that than mess up something as simple as what day it is? LOL!

Today's day and date are correct. It would be mean of me to switch it up two days in a row.

I had a long day yesterday but I think it was mostly productive. The Retreat Planning meeting went well. We have the time and day, plus a raindate picked out. A general schedule of activities. The next steps are to work on a description, a new page for the website, and a flyer/promotional materials.
Scott's Parks Department is hosting a Hike for Healing in September, which is to raise mental health awareness. I will be at a vendor table there and Lauren is going to see if they would like me to lead a mini-forest bathing walk. When I saw the announcement for the Hike, I figured it would be a fantastic place to get the word out, collect emails from anyone interested, etc.

I am feeling a little better today, still cranky-ish but not quite as kooky as I was earlier in the week. I am off to the FP this morning and have to work on some other things around the house since I am working most of the day tomorrow.

Wishing you all a fantastic day and weekend!

@faerywings Here you go again trying to get an extra day in the week..two Thursdays!!!
Debby has it right!! :giggle4:

@AK_Tracy What, fish pucks on a bun don't sound appealing to you?
( Me neither! )
Did you have a nice time visiting your friend?

@vickyday Nooo! I hope you aren't getting a cold. How is your headache, any better today?
That was sweet of Ilene's DD to pass some of the extra food on to the two of you. I like it when the FP gives me something I wouldn't normally buy myself, too. It's kind of freeing to know that if you don't care for it, if it didn't come out of the budget.
Double bonus when it is free and something that Mark likes and you don't.

@BrightEyes DD#1 must be so tired from flying back and forth and all of the work being done. You and DD#3 must be a huge help as well as support.
I am so glad that you liked the AJ challenges this month. I struggled with the topic but I think I pulled it all together for the end-of-the-month wrap up. Your LOs were all amazing as well.

OK. Checked my phone so I know it's Friday. Nice morning, alternately clouds and sun, not hot, so I took a bike ride out to Sugar Hollow and back, 20 miles. Lots of cyclists out this morning, but I'm still the slowest. I hadn't recharged my battery so I was kind of nursing it by riding in "Eco" mode -- lowest power assist -- except on the uphills. But it got my heart pumping
The weather here has been perfect for hiking and biking (which means it is chilly for me LOL) -- great job with getting in 20 miles!
I have started cooking a large batch of some grain (rice, farro, quinoa) once a week and keeping it in the fridge, then just heating up what we need for a meal. It sometimes means we have stir fry over quinoa or some other slightly off combination, but it does make it convenient.
That is a really good idea. In case you couldn't tell, (haha, I think I make it quite obvious!) I struggle with meals and meal planning.
I tried to talk to my mom a few years ago about using taxis or Uber, when we were trying to figure out how she could cut expenses. She totally rejected the idea of using a taxi. I never understood why.
So glad it isn't just my dad who is resistant. I have never used an Uber myself b/c 1. I don't go anywhere, and 2. There aren't many drivers that will come out this way. So I don't understand the Uber=Taxi issue at all.

I am off to the Gallery to leave love on the AJ pages.

:hug4:

Well happy Saturday start of the weekend---especially Chris!!!LOL now can you give us two Saturdays???

Well I finally got to hang out with my twin brother yesterday...we both did not feel good on Thursday- (the first Thursday this week) It's a twin thing but yesterday we were both better. He got to drive Jay's truck which he really loved. We went to Fall Creek Falls and walked around looking at the falls and going on the suspension bridge over the river. Then we took them to a nice lunch at "The Restaurant at Fall Creek Falls" in the park but the best was sitting around the camper because Brian could use his app to read our conversation. He had a tumor on his auditory nerve about 14 years ago and they had to remove it through his ear making him deaf but the alternative might have killed him. Sadly he is almost deaf in the other ear from working in a loud factory so it's a hard life for him. Good thing he is not a social butterfly like me so is content with his quiet world.
I did the laundry this morning and have packed up most of the trailer. We leave in a little while to head to Stone Mountain GA where we will stay a few days. I'll be glad to read, work on a basket and relax a little
Yesterday dear granddaughter took her 10 year old cousin to the science museum in Hartford Ct...they both had a fabulous time. She called me to tell me all about it, I have not heard her so happy in a long time.

I like the cook ahead idea @Terri M Thanks.

Well got to go get on the road again.

The headache is better today! Woke up with a backache, so I still had to take some Tylenol, so that would help any lingering "stuff" else wise, too!
Of the food pantry stuff, I'm in the process of cooking the collards as we speak! Mark wanted to know how long.....I said at least a couple of hours, so he took 2 pieces of toast with him to the woods! He hasn't been able to do that all summer! I'm glad the temps are a bit cooler now! We may even get to ride the bike to supper as we meet with my DD and family at Cracker Barrel to celebrate the 21-year-old's birthday later today!

Well got to go get on the road again.
So you are in Tennessee? Did you get to check out the "Big Guy" in NC?

Good morning,
I started working on some vacay pages yesterday, but didn't get very far because I ended up working with some pre-release stuff. However, I still got a couple of vacay pages done with it! So I will be able to incorporate them into the mix when I get everything printed! I'll be getting a notice of Persnickety's fall sale pretty soon, I think! Which means I need to get busy resizing my pages on some of them. I'm thinking I will change most of my pages into 8x8 from the 12x12 I always create them in.
Today I am cooking the collard greens for Markie that Ilene gave to me on Thursday. I'm using the smoked turkey for the meat instead of the bacon grease I used the last time. Personally, I liked the smell of the bacon grease much better than the smoked turkey, even though I'm not the one who is going to be eating it! I still have to be in the house while it is cooking while Mark is in the woods, LOL! He asked me how long it would take to cook and I said at least a couple of hours. So he grabbed a couple of pieces of toast and headed to the woods with his dog. I sure need a vent above the stove I am realizing right now! ;)
So, today I will probably work on Mark's work clothes and do some more vacay pages until time to head out for supper with the other daughter that lives near me. We are celebrating her oldest's 21st birthday! I can still remember Hannah sitting on my counter when she was less than 2 years old and eating green beans out of the can as I was fixing supper! Hard to believe that much time has passed and now she is a beautiful, young woman! Which means I am that much older, too, LOL!
OK, I've got to figure out some way to put a lid on the smell coming out of the kitchen! I hope Mark does NOT like this version so I can go back to using bacon grease the next time! ;)
Have a great day!

Morning, all. Yesterday was a fun day. Picked up DD#1 and we stopped at Walmart so I could buy some alkaline batteries. Turned out the outdoor/indoor thermometer set must have alkaline batteries (no heavy duty type) to work. WM only had 1 brand and only 2 of the AA and 3 of the AAA. The rest of the batteries were the heavy duty ones! Guess I need to pick up a couple more of each. The senor outside needs 2 AA and the inside display needs 3 AAA. It is so nice to see the temp on both displays are working.

We came home and DD#3 came down for a couple of hours in mid-afternoon. Her family is doing car swapping as her son#2's car is in the shop for several days. He works 4AM - 1PM so is using her car to get to work. Means she has to wait until he is off work to have a car. DD#1 and I watched "Robin Hood" with Kevin Costner DVD (1990).

@BrightEyes DD#1 must be so tired from flying back and forth and all of the work being done. You and DD#3 must be a huge help as well as support.

Yes, the trips back and forth have been hard on DD#1. Fortunately all the work on her son's house was finished by early July. She is coming here to be with him when he has appointments and other important events.

I spent the morning doing sign ins and reporting for the canvassing effort here in town. They had an extra person in the afternoon so I was sent home early. Lovely day with a breeze, I could have used a sweater. That left time for Facetime with the granddaughters this afternoon; they have one more week before school starts, so are enjoying the last days of their summer. It is kind of hard to think it will be Labor Day in a week. I can't really say "already" because this summer has seemed sort of endless.

Last night I decided I haven't had shrimp cocktail in a long time, and I really wanted some. But shrimp cocktail isn't dinner, right? I thought, well, why the heck not? So I boiled up some shrimp and made a salad to go with and declared dinner. It was good!

I have never used an Uber myself b/c 1. I don't go anywhere, and 2. There aren't many drivers that will come out this way.
Yeah, Ubers don't come out where we live either. I've never used one. My daughter and her husband Uber all the time, but they're in a major metro area.

I'm thinking I will change most of my pages into 8x8 from the 12x12 I always create them in.
I've done this for a couple books I've made for specific trips. I have to remember not to make the type size too small. But I do miss the higher drama of the large photos; sometimes they start seeming tiny when I size them down. I suppose I'll probably keep doing both sizes, although my heart belongs to 12x12.

David says he feels like Thai food tonight, so we'll be off to our favorite soon.

Yes, you are correct about the type. I need to remember to take that into consideration before I reduce them .

It'ssssss Sunday!
Well happy Saturday start of the weekend---especially Chris!!!LOL now can you give us two Saturdays???
I loved this idea so much but I couldn't figure out how to add the 2nd Saturday and not lose Sunday. :giggle4:
How was everyone's day, whatever-you-called-it, yesterday?

Mine was long. Just felt so *long.* FP was packed and it took me well over 2 hours from leaving here to getting back home. But I am always so grateful for anything I am given. Yesterday's big score was a tiramisu bakery cake. As I was waiting to be called, I was at one of the "free pick tables." I was deciding between the cake and a container of baby arugula and didn't hear them call my number. One of the volunteers came over and asked if it was me and I apologized, saying that my mind was struggling with this decision. She took one look at my choices and just laughed. She joked that for her, it wouldn't even be a decision. So I ended up with the cake. :D

I was exhausted after the busy morning and couldn't find anything to do outside. It's that weird time of the season, and with the lack of rain, everything has stopped growing. I completed and submitted the HS Fall Session Outline to Anne. Hopefully, she will start marketing for that. Then I talked to my mom for a little while. We are going to head up to her lakehouse this weekend so I can give her a hand with some of the yard work.

I am helping with a Merit Badge again, this one is for Sustainability. I looked over the plan and slides so I have a general idea of what we will be doing. That is about it here.
It seems so "off" to me that this is the last week of August. The weather feels more like Autumn yet the month is dragging. It might be just me being weird. :D
I know I have said it over and over, but time gets weirder and stretchier as I get older. YKWIM?

Whatever you do today, I hope you do it with love!

@BoatLady You always hear people talking about the twin thing, so I guess it is true. Soundslike you had a wonderful time catching up. That's terrible that Brian is mostly deaf but but how cool that he can use an app to communicate. Does he sign at all? I suggested to my dad a few years ago that we could learn the basics but - it took him this long to even try a hearing aid. Using ASL? Pffft.
The falls and bridge must have been such a stunning view and experience. Have fun in GA! When is your return to FL date? You sure are getting closer.

If yesterday's date was messed up, I didn't notice! Yesterday did NOT feel like Friday to either Mark or I.....we just didn't know what day it should feel like, LOL!
I think your Forest bathing walk would be perfect to go along with Scott's Hike!
Time=Stretchy
See what I mean?
I think the Forest Bathing hike would be perfect, too. So far in Sept, I am scheduled to lead 2 forest bathing hikes and assist with a Moving Meditation Walk. If I do one at the County program, that will be my third one just in Sept. Good thing that I feel more confident about it.
We may even get to ride the bike to supper as we meet with my DD and family at Cracker Barrel to celebrate the 21-year-old's birthday later today!
I saw sooo many bikes on the road yesterday. The weather here is perfect for riding. Just be safe. ♥
Did Mark enjoy the collard greens?

Yesterday was a fun day. Picked up DD#1 and we stopped at Walmart
This is such a contradictory sentence. Fun and Walmart should never be together. :rotfl:
Her family is doing car swapping as her son#2's car is in the shop for several days. He works 4AM - 1PM so is using her car to get to work. Means she has to wait until he is off work to have a car.
Mmmm-hmmmmm. :nod1: I totally relate to this and hate it so much.
Hugs to you DD#1 and her DS. Hope she can breathe a little more easily soon.

:D
I am glad it isn't only me who feels this.
What grades are the G-DDs going into this year? Are they excited, dreading, or a little bit of both? Good luck to them!

On that note, send good thoughts to my brother if you can. His DS is going into high school this year! Being out of a job with too much time to think might not be the best thing for him. :lol23:

@Terri M I like your hubby's idea- Thai food...Gee now I am craving it. I will have to get together with the girls when I am back in Florida they love Thai food too.

Our 4.5 hour drive yesterday was longer and stressful. Atlanta traffic is horrible let alone be 52 feet long (truck and trailer) We have been through in the past but with the van so it was easier. We decide no more Atlanta trips...we will go way around from now on.We found our site but it was too small so we had to go to the office to get another. We are at Stone Mountain GA now so will check out the area later and I made reservations to take the gondola ride to the top tomorrow. No mile hike up and down for us.
Last night we made the dinner we were going to have with my brother but he was not feeling good enough. Delicious herb/garlic pork roast with yellow and red peppers, sweet potatoes and summer squash that the lady in Cherokee gave me. Her mother grows a garden and has so much she gives it away...I had just used the last on I go from our son so I was super happy to have it.
Still adding things to our list of museum and points of interest that we have been too...I'm running out of paper LOL The kids are reminding me of things we did too. 54 years of adventures with hubby and our kids. Its' been fun reminiscing.

@faerywings You asked to see the shelf dear son made well here it is..... simple just raw old barn wood with my baskets and Reed paracord snake.
I hope your brother finds a job so he doesn't have too much time on his hands but it will be nice if he can help with your parents..I take it he is too young to retire.

All the car swapping stories ---we are so dependent on our vehicles. I hate when we have to share!

@BrightEyes now that the house work is done will your daughter come visit as often? How far away is she? She sure has made allot of trips to help.

Have a great rest of the weekend

Yes, he did like the collards with the smoked turkey! Unfortunately, lol!

Good afternoon,
Didn't get any scrapping done yesterday. Not sure what I did besides laundry, lol. Went to supper at cracker barrel with my daughter in celebration of her oldest turning 21 on the 17th this month.
Mark's phone is messed up so we're going to ride the bike to Verizon and then ice cream later on.
Other than that, quiet day after church.
Have a great afternoon!
