Welcome to Day 1 of our Oscraps 19th Birthday Party Celebration! My name is Cheryl and I'll be your host for this challenge. Let's get this party started!!

We're going to be using Music Inspiration for this challenge. The song that immediately popped into my head is "Hey Nineteen" by Steely Dan. Let's get this party started with this song - I can see you all dancing right now.

Now that you're all rocking out, here is what this fun challenge is all about. I found a very cool site called "19 Of The Best Songs About Being 19". Of course, my favorite "Hey Nineteen" is on the list.

You can use ANY of the 19 songs listed on the site, linked above. I have listed a few of the titles that I thought would be easy to create a layout from. (There are videos for each song, which might give you some additional inspiration.)

“Not Nineteen Forever” By The Courteeners

“Once And Never Again” By The Long Blondes

“19” By Landon Cube

“Twinkle Lights” By The Sonder Bombs

"Perfect Place" by Lorde

A couple of these are pretty "generic" which will give you more latitude when you create your layouts. They are all about being nineteen. You DO NOT have to use any of these titles on your pages. You are certainly welcomed to use any of them, however. I used "Hey 19" on my page. Just tell me, when you post your layouts here in this thread, which song inspired you.

Here's the layout I created for this challenge. I hope it sparks your "Nineteenth Birthday Party" creativity.
Before we go any further, here are the prizes that are being given out for this challenge:

FIRST PRIZE = $10
Maya de Groot
SECOND PRIZE = $5
Art Addicts Designs
THIRD PRIZE = $5
Daydream Designs

Here's my layout and I hope it gives you lots of inspiration. I used "Hey 19" on mine, but again, you don't have to - only if you want to. I went with an American Bandstand theme, which takes me back to my teenage years.

I've done a few layouts with "twinkle lights" and thought I'd share this one to give you more ideas.

I can't wait to see what all of your creative layouts!! Just have fun and don't overthink it.

RULES:
- Create a layout that's inspired by one of the songs on 19 Of The Best Songs About Being 19".
- You can use ANY of the songs listed on the site, but you DO NOT have to use the titles on your layout unless you want to.
- Just tell me, when you post your layout here, which song inspired you.

- Please use 100% Oscraps products. (Please note this is different from our regular monthly challenges.)
- You need to credit all the products used on your layout.
- You need to credit the source of any photo(s) as per Gallery Guidelines
- Create a post in the 2025 BIRTHDAY TRACKING THREAD to keep track of your completed layouts games participation.
(We select our Grand Prize winners from this thread, so create a post now and remember to keep updating it throughout the month! :))
- Your page must be posted in the Oscraps 19th Birthday Party (2025) Gallery (under the Special O-vents) by PST 11.59 pm 30 June 2025 - prizes given out within 10 days of the end of the month.

Adding a linked layout from the Gallery to a thread:
1. Upload your layout to the gallery first. In your forum post click the Gallery Embed icon (little camera).
2. This will open your gallery, simply click on the layout you require, then scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click the Continue button.
3. Your linked layout is now in your post, the image will appear once you have clicked the Post Reply button.

Cheryl, are we allowed to use a song that is not on your list as I would love to use a song by an Australian group - Redgum and the song is titled " I Was only 19 "

Hi Anne-Marie, You're fine. Cheryl will probably respond too, but I noticed the instructions include the words "You DO NOT have to use any of these titles on your pages".

I think you have to use one of the 19 listed.

You just don't have to list the title on your layout.
But I am sure Cheryl will answer officially.

Thanks for the challenge. I was inspired by Not Nineteen Forever, but did not take the lyrics literally. I've been with my husband since we were 14 and we were just talking about how we have changed over the past 50 years.
I love hearing this - 60 years! I was married fir 43 and that seemed like a lifetime. It goes so fast.

I think you have to use one of the 19 listed.

I gave Anne-Marie a "soecuak oass:==

Thanks for all of your help. I don't get up early as some of you know.:floorlaugh:

I gave Anne-Marie a "special pass" since the song has 19 in the title. I honestly didn't know there were so many songs about being 19.

This was a fun challenge, Cheryl. Who knew there were so many songs about 19? :) I chose "19 You + Me" by Dan and Shay about young love at the beach.
This is just beautiful!! Yes, who knew? Anne-Marie came up with another one by an Australian group and I gave her permission to use that one. I never dreamed there were that many songs, either.

This one is going to give me a problem... although I like the generic theme... for me, I grew up way too young, graduated HS barely 17, and had all the angst of being young and in love, long before I was 19... At 19, my life was pretty placid... I had already met my eventual husband but he was not in my life at 19... the man in my Avatar, was there , , eventually I got back to the man I married... HMMMMM ???? Yeah, the ages of 14, 17, and 21 have a lot more meat to them...

Liz, don't "overthink" this challenge. I was just trying to give all of you a spark of creativity with the music and the songs. If you'll notice on my example layout, I just used "Hey 19" as a small title. I also added the "twinkle lights" layout. Why don't you think about the title "Perfect Place"? This could be the "Perfect Time" instead of "place".

Here is mine!! This is one of my favorite photos from our wedding. Fun fact that makes this picture work for the challenge - the band we had at the wedding was named NINETEEN!!

Oh my goodness, Susie this is so perfect for the challenge. I love that you tied it together with the name of the band. Just wonderful and again, perfect!!

thank you for the fantastic challenge!
I was inspired by the song "19 and crazy" by Bomshel because I felt exactly the same way back then - invulnerable, free with a desire for the future and to move forward and joy of life

What a fun and perfect page, Veronique! Yes, I remember how free and crazy I was at that age, too.
