Dang! I typed May 25 and just about flipped out. Talk about a sigh of relief when I realized I jumped ahead two days. Whew! May 23rd is bad enough as it is *G*
Didja miss me? I hope I found all of the :ketchup:splatters before you get in here. @tanteva seems to get bigger and bigger bottles to toss around each time I go away for a day. :floorlaugh:

We had such a nice time hanging out with Scott and Sam. It rained almost the entire time we were there and I didn't leave the house except to take the dogs out a few times. We pretty much sat around, talked, and played games. Sam cooked a fantastic birthday dinner and cake for Scott. Caitlyn texted us on Wednesday night. She got home from work and the house was empty. No us, no Tom, no dogs! She said it was probably one of the few times ever that she was alone. Tom was super sweet-- he was able to get out of work a half hour early so she wasn't lonely.

Scott loved his gift. We got him The Birding Dictionary and he had us laugng as he read parts of it out loud/

100% Scott's sense of humor. :D

We got home mid-morning yesterday and I did all of the laundry for my mom. I think she is going up there this weekend, so she'll stop here and grab everything to restock the house.

I also made a really, really good vegan dinner. I haven't had authentic (aka IKEA LOL) Swedish meatballs in like forever, so I have no comparison. But this recipe https://www.noracooks.com/vegan-swedish-meatballs/ was amazing. Like soooo good, I went back for seconds even though I was stuffed.
@tanteva any thoughts on the seasonings/prep of this? Our very American palates enjoyed it but if there are any tweaks you suggest (other than ketchup) I'll give them a try.

Today I am cleaning for my friend and I am going to restart yoga. By the time I was off work on Tuesday, my foot and ankle were killing me. I was pretty haphazard with the stretching exercises and now my ankle is pretty stiff and painful/

Got to go, J is doing her BREAKFAST NOW!!!!! dance

My apologies in advance for the skimpy personals from the last couple of days.

@tanteva TY for opening the Wed. (ketchup  thread). Glad that you are enjoying work!!

@vickyday Hope the IBS is better
You have been scrapping a lot! One bonus thing the rainy weather is good for :)

@Terri M Happy anniversary!! LOL-ing at the 3° reactions!
I was going to ask how the gov meet and greet went-- Ill have to remember to ask in 2 months LOL

@taxed4ever I still don't want you to leeeeaaaaveeeeee! :crying1: (still very happy for you though!)

@BrightEyes How fun to have your sister and DD#1 with you
What a rollercoaster of temps for you! I turned the heat off last week and it's been so cold I had to turn it back on, it was 60 in the house yesterday. :brrr:

@scrap-genie I love that LO! Gary and I have been watching the Bug show and the photography/video are amazing. Thx again!!

@JeanneMN How are you feeling and when will you get sprung? I am sure you can't wait to be back home!

Hugs to everyone!! :grouphugyay:

Wow It's Friday already...we had travel day yesterday so are now in Waynesboro SC. I95 in SC is terrible..just sayin.
Our Okefenokee swamp boat and train ride was great ... I loved the boat into the swamp some day I will make a page.

So proud of our DIL she ran again in the NYC 1/2 Marathon with her running friend. Two years in a row she has done it. She also ran in Chicago marathon a few years back. She has run in13 marathons. She turns 40 this weekend so it was a super cool time for her in NYC. I look forward to seeing her in person to congratulate her.

Not sure what our plans are for the 5 days we are here but we need to go get lots of fireworks for our son....he loves them. They look so cool going off over his pond at his McCabin in upstate NY and we will all be up there for July 4!

Ill try to check back later I hope everyone has a fun long weekend..

PS Got my red shirt on---- for Friday REDshirt day. Remember Everyone Deployed

Morning all. Going to be another HOT day... 90°+ this afternoon. Summer weather has definitely arrived. Had the ceiling fan running last evening until I was ready for sleep at 10:30PM. :fan: Back to wearing light-weight cotton gowns. It sure has been a yo-yo weather lately.

Been busy uploading LOs this morning. Just downloaded another bundle and will work on it today. Will be busy next week getting ready for May Color Play releases.

No plans for the Memorial weekend holiday... just stay off the roads. Will read and watch some movies. Been craving hot dogs for some reason... have to dig out some hot dog buns today. Had to reset my sign-in to Netflix a couple of days ago. My Samsung smart TV did an up-date and lost the PW for Netflix... all is back working so set for the weekend.

Welcome back, @faerywings. So sorry you over-did last week and the foot and ankle were hurting big time. Sounds like it was a fun time with the family in PA.. and a great birthday celebration for Scott. Yes, I bet it was strange for Cait to come home to an empty house!!! Glad Tom got off a bit early to be with her. You are such a great daughter to take care of the laundry for the PA house for your mom.

@BoatLady Saw your photos on FB of the swamp boat ride and the new camping spot in SC. Looks like so much fun...

@tanteva I saw you spattered some ketchup in @faerywings other thread. :giggle4: :rotfl:

Gotta run... DD calling. HAGD

Ha! Love the LBJ definition! What is the name of the book? I may have to invest in one! ;)

You are right about the crappy weather allowing for more scrap time!
The IBS comes and goes at will... and not my will,! ;)

Our weather has been yo-yoing too! Hard to know how to dress!

Good afternoon,
Eye appointment this morning. As expected, I need stronger glasses.
Tonight is our 4th grandchild to graduate HS. Hard to believe!
Got the results back from the insurance health screening. No surprises there either. Everything is normal except the cholesterol numbers. But they are better than they were before taking the chicory root inulin which I started a year ago.
Have a good evening!

I got sprung this morning about 10:30. Stopped and loaded up on Popsicles. Picked up prescriptions in Pine Island and we're going to Lauren's track meet in about half an hour, she's doing hurdles in the jv elite meet this afternoon and we've never seen her do hurdles. I'm a little more scrambled than usual which I know is hard to believe.

Well the joys of travel...unreliable campground internet.....grr. I had a nice post but poof the internet failed so I need to do it again. I will just use my data it stays on. Now to remember what I wrote....Yikes.

Looks like everyone has plans for the holiday weekend. We went out today to get a few groceries, the we filled up the truck with diesel and went to look for fireworks store...well it wasn't there so since we had food we decided to make a trip toward Charleston tomorrow where there were many stores showing up on internet. We took a little walk along the river...it is flowing like crazy.

@BrightEyes you have the right idea just stay off roads. That is why we are 5 nights in this campground.

@faerywings so glad you had fun on your get away, I say you really needed a break...not the broken bone type though. The weather up north has been pretty crappy so I hope it gets better before we get there otherwise I will be whiny and crabby!!!

Ill get caught up tomorrow on personal notes I hope.

Hope everyone is doing well! My friday afternoon today consisted of a lengthy nap! I guess it was needed.
The weekend was going to be me home alone on dog duty, but plans changed so Mark is home. Looking forward to some down time and a BBQ on Sunday. Quick in and out tonight! Have a great evening everyone.

@faerywings I have 3 comments on that recipe.

1. Spice. Allspice and nutmeg. No! Nutmeg I've never seen used in meatballs. First time I saw allspice in a meatball recipe was an American recipe actually. Thought it sounded weird, but when I look it up, it's used in old recipes (like late 1800s). Probably survived with the Swedish immigrants in the US. Garlic is not traditional, you would use grated onion instead. I usually use just salt, pepper and onion powder (cuz using real onion would be considered an attempted murder on my son). Could add garlic and chili too, but that wouldn't be traditional meatballs. Adding mustard to the mix can be nice too, especially dijon.

2. The gravy. I would never use Worchestershire sauce, mainly because it's not a staple in my kitchen. Guess it's used for getting some umami to it. Also, it's really hard to find vegan Worchestershire sauce here. I use margarine, flour, cream, salt, pepper, soy sauce, and stock when going traditional. But I love making it really spicy, like combining different peppers (black, white, red/rose and green) and tarragon. Dijon is good too, but I rarely have that at home.

3. Serving. The traditional way to serve Swedish meat balls and gravy is with boiled potatoes and lingonberry jam. Mash and macaroni is common too, but then no gravy. At least not to pasta. Some heathens serve gravy with mash, but ... no! And I'm sorry, but the perfect sauce for meatballs and pasta is .... you know it's coming ... ketchup!
