Good morning. Don't faint, Chris @faerywings - yes, I'm REALLY up this earl and thought I'd pop in and surprise you. SURPRISE.
She's here!!!!!

I am so sorry that you were up because of insomnia but dang, it is great to have you here!
I see the orthopedist on Friday, and next Sunday is the 6-week mark. I am hoping that he will tell me that I can get back to work because I am on the schedule two days that following week. I made my plans to include time to be at picnic tables and no hiking. If I have to work in the boot, so be it.
found my prescription glasses two days ago. So, I've already been to the eye doctor and ordered new ones, but these are pretty scratched, so it was time. What a difference these have made. I've been wearing those dratted bifocals and craning my neck to see my monitor. I've actually gotten a "crick" in my neck from it. My new glasses should be coming in anytime now. When I went in, I was complaining so much about the bifocals. The doctor said, since they were fairly new, that as soon as I got my close ups, they'd sent my bifocals in and have my distance prescription put in the frames that I already have. They're even going to have the transition (color) in them. How nice is that?
You will be so much happier with the new prescription. That is fab that the dr will be able to rework the frames with the new Rx too.
How is the family? I miss hearing about all of your shenanigans. Notice how that is spelled?
Shenanigins.
I'm putting together a store of meatless recipes for when I'm cooking for the grands next week. The 11-year-old has decreed we need to eat less meat, and she's 1000% absolutely right. I've tried out a few here at home and David has even liked some of them. I'm looking at some that involve tempeh - I have no idea what that is, but I'll try to find some at Trader Joe's today when I'm in town and see what I can do. Also looking forward to Duke alumni watch party at a local brewery tomorrow night (they are in the men's NCAA Final Four) and I'm hoping I won't be so tired from the day in DC and the 2-hour drive back that I fall asleep over my lager.
I am not a huge fan of tempeh, but I love tofu and seiten. If you want any recipes using them, I'll be happy to share. I made tempeh BBQ "ribs" and wasn't impressed. I also made pulled "pork" with jackfruit which was surprisingly good. Still-- tofu is my meatless fave.
Be safe today.
I have no choice but to root for Duke since my nephew is a *huge* Duke fan. He went to the game last week. My SIL posted a ton of pics of him in his jersey on FB. No idea who his player is, but the jersey has a number 1 on it.
It was good to chat and reminisce about my brother and all the wonderful places and things that they had seen together! She still plans to travel to Australia to spend part of the year with her children and grandchildren, but also wants to continue travelling the world , but most likely with a tour company instead of on her own, like Tom and her used to do all the time. She certainly has a wanderlust!!
I bet your feet feel fantastic today! What color are your toes today?
You must be so happy and relieved that your SIL wants to keep doing all of the things that she and your brother loved to do.
LOL! That is so funny about World Rat Day. Caotlyn told us that at dinner. I bet that I posted something about Rat Day here last year and it is still in my subconscious. I gave the baby girls kisses to celebrate with them last night.
no way ever that we would become vegetarian or vegan.
I could probably be vegetarian but never, ever vegan.

The pizzas last night were so darn good and the extra cheese-- mmmm mmmm! Vegan mozzarella... not gonna cut it with me.
Ilene and I had a good day. Didn't get back to the house until after 1. Then we played qwirkle before I headed home.
How many rounds did youplay and what was the final scoring?
Another quick in and out today. We were very relieved when DSon#1 and wife arrived where DD#2 lives near Branson, MO late yesterday afternoon. They drove from Nevada and battled through heavy rains/winds especially through Oklahoma and into MO. And DSon#2 and wife flew into Springfield, MO yesterday... their flight was delayed due to the storms and tornados in the area. We breathed a sigh of relief when they let us know they were there safe and sound. Max's funeral was this morning. Unfortunately both of the boys and wives have to leave late today or early tomorrow. I am hoping that DSon#1 and wife will stop here for a quick visit on the way back to Nevada.
The weather really didn't cooperate with the family travel plans

I hope that they were able to travel back home without any issues.
I got my order from Wild Birds Unlimited yesterday while I was with Ilene. Besides the usual spicy seeds and suet I ordered I got some meal worms for the bluebirds and powdered nectar that you add water to for the hummers. I've not had any luck with meal worms before at the bird feeders, so I hung them out by the bluebird "house" they are occupying to see what happens.
Are the mealworms live or dried? I can't do live mealworms. Or maybe I could now, but when I was a kid, they grossed me out.
Scott's landlord asked him to take his feeders down for the spring/summer because of the bears. I feel really bad for him and Sam, they love the birds. In my fit of innsomia last night I was thinking maybe he could put a hummingbird feeder on the front porch. I don't *think* bears would mess with that.
Good for you getting in dentist and eye exams.
Nothing exciting around here today,
Ok lady, I read about your day and you did a lot! Of course, I don't know how anyone can survive without coffee so I don't know what's up with your DH

(Although it will be much easier if we ever go through a coffee shortage. I'll have to kill off my DH to reach the coffee first. JK. Or am I?)
Howdy. Thanks for the good "glasses vibes", everybody. I MUST tell you where I found them. You all know that I've torn my house apart looking for them. I found them down inside one of my black boots. Yes, I really did. HOW on earth they got there is one of life's biggest mysteries.
NO WAY!!!
Hi Everyone! Hope you all had a good day. Friday's are half days, so spent the afternoon getting the girls squished and smashed - thankfully it went fast and I was in and out in shorter time than it took to drive to the appt.
Good for you!! Pain in the butt and everywhereelse but necessary to do.
That is so neat that your friend painted a pickle ball court in her driveway! Don't fall and break anything. Vicky will tell you that is not fun to go through
Better get ready to head out soon.
xoxo
