Process
A solid paper from the new APP Portiere was selected for the base. The photo was clipped to a Watercolor FotoBlendz mask. The photo was duplicated and then clipped to another Watercolor FotoBlendz mask to allow for the full size of the photo. The photos were again duplicated, blending modes changed to multiply or screen. A layer mask was added to each photo and dark areas of the multiply image were hidden and the bright areas of the screen photo were hidden. This allowed for a more even presentation of the door. A fotoglows 5 flare was placed between the images to add light to the window area. ArchTexture brushes were added, recolored with the blending mode changed to soft light, and then duplicated several times. Flares from FotoGlow Mix 2 were layered over the ArchTexture brushes and the blending mode was changed to color. Embellishments, brushes, artstroke and a transfer from APP Portiere were added. Al Capones image was placed inside the slide by creating a clipping mask. Word art, stitching and splatters were added to complete the page.
Thank you for looking!
So FUN! At first it looks formal and documentary, and then these hints of the faux and fanciful start appearing.

Beautiful... I have always been captivated by that era in our history. Your page adds just a little more to my fact book. Love your cleverness of design!!

AL Capone's life and that era in Chicago is so fascinating, and I would bet he would love your page of his entry way. He was an incredibly ruthless and powerful man and at the same time gave lots of money to charities. Fabulous touch with his photo in the View Master wheel behind the door. I like your placement of the cornice and mask. I hope there is more coming our way, I love these layouts.
