the wallflowers

journaling (I had a journaling epiphany btw, I blogged about it this morning: http://paisleepress.blogspot.com/2010/05/is-that-journaling-on-your-page.html.

Ok, so were not really wallflowers.
Were social, we like being around people and sometimes we are even
fun to be around.
But for a while there,
it sure felt like we were
wallflowers.

As new parents we were
afraid to take you to certain places.
Like restaurants.
We didnt want to be that family.
You know, the one with
the screaming baby
that everyone darts dirty looks at?
So we banned ourselves
from eating establishments save
the occasional outing to a chinese
restaurant - only because
its so loud in there you can hardlyhear youself think.

And other social functions?
We forfeitted evening events
because we were adamant about
establishing a bedtime routine
and getting you in bed by
7:30pm every night.
And daytime excursions were limited to what we could squeeze in between your afternoon nap and your bedtime.

This has been our routine going on 2.5 years now. Seems like it should feel like an eternity to be carrying on like this, but it doesnt feel long at all.

Time really does fly when you're having fun.
